Recovery failed - need help please - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried to update trwp from 2.7 to 2.8.0.1 with safestrap. I don't know what I was thinking. Now the phone will not boot. It says secure fail:recovery, them something about system software not authorized by verizon.. I am trying to find a way to reload safestrap to the phone without having to start from scratch. Please help. Note 3 retail, rooted.
Update: after staying up all night doing everything I could think of to no avail, I took the phone to a Verizon store. I made up some **** and bull story and the guy took my phone in back. He came back a few minutes later with a big grin. He had fixed it, and everything was intact. When the phone rebooted he saw the safestrap and smiled at me knowingly, but not a word was said. I need to stop screwing with my phone late and night when I'm tired. Lesson learned.

Need help restoring / un-bricking Verizon G2

The perfect storm...
I broke my phone about a month ago, bought a hold over on craigslist until I fixed my phone. Left the phone stock and yesterday sold it to a truck driver via craigslsit. I did a factory reset handed over all good to go. He is now out of town
This morning he calls me and says the phone is locked in TWRP and is politely upset. Confirmed the phone worked when I gave it to him. I did not install or root this phone so the crap ass before me must have and did it and not mention it. The guy has no clue what happened, went to bed fine, woke up and stuck looping in recovery.
I tried to walk him through it. Reboot, says it lands right back at TWRP. He seems up to the idea of using a tool or utility to flash it.
I found this thread [Guide] Unroot/Unbrick - flash official factory firmware with LG Mobile Support Tool but it does not seem to cover the Verizon variant.
Can anyone point me to some instructions I can send this guy on getting this thing back to stock?

note 4 (N910A) verity error after stock ota update from 5.1.1 to 6.0.1

Hey guys,
I could use your expertise and help.
After updating my stock Note 4 Att variant from 5.1.1. to 6.0.1, I came back to my phone powered off. After turning it back on it freezes at the Att logo screen. Trying to boot into safe mode was a no go so I tried booting into recovery. Everything looked go for a second, I was greeted with an installing updates animation but that quickly was shut down and I got the "dm-verity verification failed..." error.
I tried wiping the cache and doing a factory reset. Talking with att technical support was no help at all. They basically told me if wiping the cache and factory reset didn't work I would have to get the phone replaced and pay a $150 deductible. I'm not paying them another dime when their update bricked my phone
So I'm here heart in hand hoping you guys could help me out. I did root my note 2 back in the day but forgot most of what it entails and was pretty bummed when I found out there was no root for the note 4. So I'm not a total noob but bear with me.
I did try Kies 3 but my phone wont connect. I tried off, on and in recovery still nothing.
Searching online it seems like most of the solutions require root access which this phone doesn't have. It also looks like it needs the stock firmware but most of the links I found here and elsewhere are dead, and sammobile doesn't have them either.
So what should I do? Am I out of options? Should I junk it cause Att sucks? Any sort of direction would be a big help! :highfive:

Make sure samsung kies or samsung usb drivers are installed on your pc.
Download stock marshmallow firmware and flash through odin .this method does not require root.
After flashing dont let the phone boot just go to recovery and wipe cache+wipe data factory reset then reboot.
Wait 10 to 15 minutes.
Stock rom link.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24651430732238073
Extract file and choose AP tab in odin.
Upload firmware file then connct device via usb cable to pc.
Hit start in odin.
You're the man! Not only did you save my phone, you stuck it to Att's money grubbing hands in one fell swoop. People will write songs about you, you'll go down in the history books as the man, the myth, the legend! People will swoon in your presence!
In all seriousness though you're awesome! Thank you!
One last question, will I be able to use the ota updates from here? Not that I would be too comfortable using them after this debacle, just wondering if they should work.

Thanks for the compliment. you just made me feel like i am a Hercules :victory:
If you want my advice dont ever take ota updates.
Just go to www.sammobiles.com/firmwares and grab latest rom for your model and flash in odin as you did.
Latest rom comes with the same security patch update the 1 comes in ota.
I personally do this way all the time.
Hope that helps and have a good day.

Phone stuck in boot loop. Was able to fix TWRP, but reinstalling image fails. Help?

Hello all,
Earlier today, I was browsing a website for a game on my phone when it rebooted. It continued into a reboot loop at which point no matter what I did, nothing worked. TWRP wasn't working, and I wound up flashing the phone several times with both stock Android as well as Pure Nexus. While I was able to fix TWRP, whenever I attempt to flash Beans G'Apps, the phone reboots again and stays in the reboot loop. I'm unfortunately unable to flash the image using that means. I feel like I've made progress on this issue, but everything else isn't working.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do in order to be able to stop the boot loop and save my device?
Thanks!

I had tried that but to no success. I will try this again. Do you have any guides or anything for that?
Edit: I have gone through and attempted to use fastboot to flash two different images... N2G47H and N2G47W. I'm still getting the same result. Since doing this, I've also attempted going back into Recovery (non-TRWP) and doing factory reset that way. Nothing.
So apparently this has been a known issue possibly. I don't know if for a fact this is the hardware issue, or the fact I had Pure Nexus installed on it... it would also explain why Google is so readily going to give me a new phone even though my warranty is expired.
I can't post the reddit links due to new XDA account, but they are there.

How did you get Google to replace your phone? I bought mine from Swappa and warranty just expired in April

This is DanPLewis under my account account (Wasn't able to remember credentials initially!). So my phone was purchased from Google for Google Fi. I reached out to their support chat. First they informed me that my phone warranty expired 3 months ago in March. I asked what options I have right now for replacement, and they voluntarily told me that they will go ahead and do a one time refurbished replacement.
The reasoning I feel as though they replaced it out of warranty was because they're aware of the issue with the phone... but they could've just been nice about it.

Magisk Error

Hello, this is my first post on here, but I have always been such a big fan of all the work that you guys do. I mean, this is just a phenomenal resource. I have recently rooted my Samsung Galaxy S8 (SM-G950U) through the PartCyborgRom method, and it actually went very well with me. I got into a bit of a problem when my root was easily recognized and I couldn't do things, like get into my Snapchat. I saw everyone ranting and raving about how Magisk had a built in feature to hide the root from apps. I then download the Magisk apk and it prompts me to flash it on my phone. If it meant I could keep my streak going with my girlfriend, I figured "Why the Hell not?" So I try to flash it, and it doesn't work the first time. The second time, it goes right through with no problem. When I got the option to reboot, I took it, and instead of getting a new bootloader, I am prompted with the message from Samsung that says "Security Error: This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software & is locked. Call your mobile operator for additional support. Please note that repair/return for this issue may have additional cost." Now I'm left with what appears to be some soft bricked phone. I have tried flashing the stock firmware, even on Comsy, but all to no avail. I am just trying to figure out how to get this phone back in operation, since I am in the military and it is paramount that I am able to communicate with my Marines again.

Okay, so here is the update: I went to the Sprint store, and they can't do ****. I went to every resource I could find, and they all give me the same advice. Get Samsung to fix it. I really don't want to concede defeat though, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
By the sounds of it it is a soft brick been in a simular situation have you tried putting it into download mode and reflashed the first ever firmware that came with it

I did. I'm not sure what they did, but I took it to Cell Phone Repair (so if they mess it up further, they pay for it), and they fixed it. They put it on T-Mobile's network though, and so I am dealing with that now.

You should take it back to them and explain that they have locked it to T-mobile and they shpuld unlock it for free

Samsung S8+ Stuck in the boot loop, I think

Hi guys and gals
I am probably duplicating a thread for which I apologise in advance, but I have no clue for what key words I should be using to search for to find an existing answer, assuming there is one!?
I have the s8+ (SM-G955f) purchased in the UK via Vodafeon.
The battery died some weeks ago and I've had no money to be able to buy a replacement until now. I did try to use it now and again, but it last no more than a minute, but what did seem to happen is what is referred to as the boot loop saga.
I have followed other threads for instructions and downloaded Odin v.3.13 along with the varoius files (BL,AP,CP,CSC) from a zip file (G955FXXU9DTF1_G955FOVF9DTF1_VOD.zip) I was doing this late last night and do no remember which website I got it from, it took sooo long to download.
I am now at the point where I have connected the phone via USB and I have run the program and the status went to green, said 'pass' and the phone rebooted, however it is back to the Samsung welcome screen and sometimes keeps rebooting, other times, just stays there.
Where do I go from here? would it be that I have used the wrong firmware? I have never done this stuff before and have no clue, but am desperate to have a working phone as I have no money to replace it
Any advice, very welcome
If the battery went bad why flash firmware. Replace the battery

I guess the issue was when the battery had issues, it would last maybe a minute or 2 before shutting down and then having to wait a full day before trying again. I did this for about a week as needed to get phone numbers from the phone along with some other info.
On the last occassion the phone turned on before the battery finally gave up, it seemed to go into the bootloop.
So now, I have tried various versions of Firmware via Frija and using Odin 3.13 to instal, but the phone doesn't seem to want to accept it.
The phone was originally purchase via Vodafone in the UK. I have tried VOD and BTU.
I am now in Asutralia, so have also tried TEL and VAU as have had sims from them also.. if that makes a difference?
I cannot get into the recovery mode at the moment, no clue why, just the download screen. The last time it went into recovery it kept mentioning about ATT which I don't understand as the phone has never had an AT&T connection which I think is in the USA and the phone has not been there..
Does anyone have any other suggestions? Would it be crazy to try and instal a custom OS and then revert back, or does the phone always remember the original firmware? I hope this all makes sense as this is all new to me..
Thanks in advance.
