Hi everybody,
my sister has got this phone a month ago and she is obviously out of memory. So the most immediate step is to install Link2SD. I am used to my Galaxy phone where to root it one just needs to hold Vol UP+Home+Power to get into the stock recovery and install any zip files. So after founding nothing useful in Internet I decided to ask in here:
- Is there any similar "hotkey" for the e400 to boot in stock recovery?
- Can the stock recovery install any zip file?
- Does the 1click rooting for Galaxy phones really works? If so I can make a simple zip package with "su" only, she would get mad dealing with notifications and all crap like that (I know, it would be more insecure but we just give permissions all times, anyway don't we? )
- Would it break the official updates? I know that the rooting would be lost after updating, but it would be a matter of seconds to redo it if it works like above.
- Any idea about a custom kernel (better if the latest stock one with modified scripts in RAM disk) with support for /etc/init.d? I could port my script Switch2SD which operates like Link2SD but at boot time.
- Last but not least, why the heck the SD card has two FAT partitions?!? What's the point for Android to show the first SD partition as "internal memory" if it doesn't really use it? Well, it does, but with App2SD which is lame.
I am not really interested on CWM or Custom ROMs unless they are really needed. Thanks in advance for any help!!
First, the L3 doesn't have a stock recovery, the key combo only do a full wipe;
Second, use SuperOneClick to root the L3, it works very well;
Third, Rooting your device doesn't break the official updates (if there will be any);
Fourth, I am working on a kernel that supports init.d, and I don't know about any stock kernels with init.d (only overclock);
And at last, I don't know why we have two FAT partitions, but I know that we can merge these partitions with SDMergE400.
Hope I helped!

Thank you very much, very kind from you! But that introduces a new question: how can I install SuperOneClick if I can't get into the stock recovery?
EDIT: never mind, I thought it was the .zip for the root installation for the Galaxy phones..
Then will your kernel be ready soon? Will it be a stock one?
Well, I am modding the kernel on the SDMergE400 zip, just testing, then I will mod the Stock kernel!
But these are just plans, it will take a little time...

Never mind, I managed to root the phone (with spectrum_root_linux_osx from OS X. It works!!) and I installed Link2SD. I must say that this phone seems amazingly fast! I have a Galaxy Pop Plus (it's equivalent to the Galaxy Y) and its performances are horrible. The LG e400 is a nightmare in terms of system administration, though. With our phone we can do everything from stock recovery.So I better leave it as it is. Hopefully Link2SD won't mess up. My sister seems confident enough with it now. But if it breaks it will pain a customer support pain (you know, sisters.. ).
If you don't feel good to mess up with your phone, you better leave it as it is, like you said!
Android isn't for the users who want everything simple and ready, we have to think a little when using it (and that's why there are much people with iPhones and stuff)

Sure. That would be true for me as well If only I wasn't the developer of the custom and stock modified (with /etc/init.d support) kernels for my Galaxy S5570I phone..
What I meant is that the way the filesystems/Partitions are organized in the LG e400 is totally different from everything I have seen before. For example I made now 3 partitions in the SD card for Link2SD with the first one of 20MB. Android still reports a first partition of 1GB. It's just that I don't have time to mess up with it, being my sister's phone. So i decided to leave it rooted with Link2SD and that's it. I checked SDMergE400 as well, but they talk about installing a CM 9 to make it working. I could do it if the phone was mine, but not with someone else phone. regarding my phone, it sucks. badly. Ask anyone with a Galaxy Y, which uses the same CPU BCM21553. We don't even have the source codes to make full use of the GPU Videocore IV and thus to port the CM. In Antutu benchmark the soldiers go at 10-14 fps.
The iPhone (iOS) has mods as well, anyway. People are doing some pretty neat stuff after jailbraking it. Which is not even needed to run some basic useful tools like Adblock, unlike Android that needs to be rooted.

Oh yes, filesystems on the L3 are REAL messy :/
But I got a chinese tablet (SK-3031 or GT-1230) and it's really, really complex to work in it's filesystems, so it's easy for me ;D
And Android have some neat features by default that the iDevices don't (freedom, for example) :laugh:
Hello everyone, Ive been lurking around your little forum here for the sake of customizing/upgrading/etc my new e612g.
First of all, I may say that I am semi-well-versed on android stuff, but this being a whole new brand Im dealing with I am CONFUSED!:silly:
Ok so onto the questions:
First of all and my main regard here: The system partition is freaking full, only 4 mb left. Ive deleted most bloatware and moved some apps to sd, changed system to user apps someones, and all of the "usual" tweaking.
I am currently on stock 4.1.2 (20d-rooted-unlocked-cwm KDZ that is found here)
Next question: I have a big misunderstanding on KDZ files, can they be modded, if so how???, I mean can I use the kitchen to build/mod a say stock rom and somehow convert it to a flashable KDZ? (I really like the flashing software, much more informative and fool-proof than RSDlite)
speakin´ about flashin´... Is there any way I can flash a KDZ, and keep my apps and data? I I remember flashing CM updates on my moto devices w/o wiping and stuff...
Next question: from what I´ve heard, there is a kernel developed by chachasomeone (big thanks dude!) which I use, which is able to recognize and manage a swap file... Ive hear just using rAM expander something app you can create and autoload the script for loading the swap file at startup, but again Ive read a lot this two past days, and somewhere here on XDA a user of the e612 damaged his phone by using a swapfile, and another "lost" (if you can really think something as inexpensive as a microSD is lost!!!) his SD card by means of bad swapfile implementation...
any advice on this?
And finally, this is more a recommendation than a question, Ive observed that the information here is really, really, REALLY sprayed around forums and themes, no centralization like with other devices. To an unexperienced user, this will be hell. Heck even I was really confused on where to look for roms, answers, etc.
Anyway you guys could separate themes, maybe merge some threads and overall, on top of that "new" thread just for god's sake tell everyone that e610,e612 and all the alphabet after them are really the same phone!!!! Dude I freaked out last night when I was flashing that KDZ I have right now, and looked into my phone´s box and it said E612g, but the update said it was ONLY for e610...=
Obviously it worked just fine, buuut someone unexperienced will, and will always flood the forums with questions (the I cant find the search button syndrome)
Thanx for your attention, donlloreda out.
BTW I´m really satisfied so far with this phone, Snappy, fast, plenty of internal storage (though it´s crippled) the creen sucks but just go ahead, set the lcd density to 144, install a nice, clean font (like segoe UI, or Segoe WP, or Helvetica, or some Adobe font, and you´ll se the eye strain go down..)
BTW, just dont download any font, go to your build.prop and search at the bottom for a line saying something like lge.fonts=true, change it to false and voila, you now may choose from all the availible fonts installed. that line limits you to roboto and lg something.
Build.prop tweaks for this phone anyone willing to share and/or test????
Goodnite!
Hello
I accidentally deleted lot of sutff from my G2 (not sure what exactly, but particularly a few videos I as trying to save when I messed things up) by misusing mtpfs on linux.
After a few hours of googling, I found solutions that require USB Mass Storage option which G2 has not or rooting which is out of the question since I have a hardware issue and need to be certain of the warranty.
Is there something to do ?
Thanks
Okay so im trying to port over Firefox OS but im stuck at
Create a manifest for the new device
Now you need to add a manifest file for the new device. Refer to one of the existing manifests for a template. You can use the hamachi manifest a reference. Once done, you should add and commit your new manifest to your local b2g-manifest repository:
hamchi manifest -> https://github.com/mozilla-b2g/b2g-manifest/blob/master/hamachi.xml
im not exactly sure what needs to be changed and what needs to be put in the areas that i do change the only other device ive did anything relative to this is ZTE Open C i also have a manifest for it several actually so im entirely ignorant but i am at a point of being dumbfounded on how to change this up so it can ./config.sh correctly
so my question is ... will someone help me create a proper manifest from the refrence manifest/point me to a manifest thats already created ive looked on google and havent found one so im asking you guys
thanks for all help its appreciated
Bump for Firefox os greatness

Folks,
I have a LG OPTIMUS F5 P875 cellphone that unfortunately, out of nowhere, stopped working. I've indeed lost many important things, but what I miss the most are my notes.
On the other hand, a couple months ago I have made this backup.rnt with richnote itself (it's the stock notes apk) and I was able to save it someplace else, but now that I'm trying to open it, I've discovered that no other application will manage to do it (I've tried a lot of them).
Well, I have this rooted SAMSUNG Galaxy Ace 2 and I was planning to get that same richnote.apk and run it on my rooted cellphone, then I would be able, at least theoretically, to open my backup.rnt file with it.
Would it be really possible to run this same apk in my Samsung? Could someone upload your own Richnote.apk for me? Is there something else I can do to get this RNT file opened?
I have already tried these, but they don't work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2618790
I know this is probably not the proper forum, but I didn't find one about LG OPTIMUS F5.
Thank you very much.
