This is a thread specially for the music lovers like me. Many of its have been wandering that how to make viper work on android lollipop, and today I finally found a way out and it will take just a couple of minutes to make viper work on your device.
**Procedure**
1. Install busy box on your device. (If installed skip this step)
2. Download 'SELinux Mode Changer' from playstore and give it root permissions.
3. Now change the SELinux mode to 'Permissive' .
4. Install viper(I used v2.3.3.0) and it's drivers.
Now reboot and enjoy the music.
Please hit thanks if it helped.

I had similar issue.
What worked for me was to change the SELinux policy as suggested in this post and then flashing LolliViPER_v2.3.3.0.zip from the below link..
Viper4Android
Do remove the drivers and application before flashing the zip..

I followed your tutorial, but still can't install viper drivers. Can you help me? I'm using SuperSU 2.40 flashed from philz touch. And Android 5.0.1 GPE
This works, but it breaks phone volume for me. People can hear me, but I cannot hear them.

Make sure you had backup your stock 5.0.2 build.prop because after install viper you will lost your signal
so, restore your stock build.prop and reboot

Pretty simple really (I used Search lol)
Original Post is HERE
MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP FIRST ! ! !
Tested and working perfectly on My HTC One M8
1. Make sure you are Rooted
2. Change to permissive mode using SELinux Mode Changer.
3. Enable developer options -> Uncheck Use NuPlayer (experimental).
4. Flash the zip below from recovery and wait for cache to be rebuilt.
5. BOOM! Enjoy your music flawlessly.

Is this even necessary? I just installed V4A regular APK on GPE Lollipop and installed driver, boom and done working great, in the past installing these lolliviper zips only lead to no audio on my device at all with missing V4A app and missing built in Google EQ.
Also Disabling NuPlayer doesn't do anything different either, for me it works either way.
I did however have to switch from Enforced to Permissive, it seems like a lot of root apps need that now lol
I found these same instructions myself yesterday and it works perfectly, thanks for condensing it into the M8 Thread here for others. I rely on V4A heavily so it sucked not having it!
@Viper4713 it is not necessary on GPE, V4A worked fine for me too, but on Lollipop Sense 6, V4A was broken
Installed here (GPE + TWRP) and I'm stuck on "Android is upgrading" screen. =/

Lollipop Sense worked 100% for me as well, only difference is I had Project ERA on Sense, but I don't believe that fixed it.

Hmm, since that post I have flashed SkyDragon (Asia WWE) and it didn't need anything to make it work.
I definitely needed to follow the process in the OP when I was running Maximus though.

@dragonesdenano
selinux is set to permissive and nu player is diabled by default in sd asia rom isnt it mate??
I can confirm that's V4A Xhifi is also working on my M8 with lollipop ARHD 34.0, just install app, install driver, reboot and paf it's working !
Those extra files aren't needed for m8, more time out of ten its gonna break the sound, everything needed is in v4a package/apk. Sorry lol ...not raining on your parade so to speak, just a heads up basically. V4A works just setting to permissive and leaving nuplayer ticked ....still, you should disable it anyway, found out today from another poster that its the cause of the sound bugs.
I managed to install V4A, but when it asks me to install drivers I check install and it says "Install complete, please restart device", when I restart it, it posts the exact same message. The drivers won't install but it says installation was successful. Anyone have any idea what I can do?
is S-off required to install Viper?
EDIT.
it is required
Heads up. The app has been updated to 2.3.4.0 and now supports Lolipop. I just installed on the latest IC Rom and working perfect.

No, it's not required, I'm s-on and running it just fine.
Disclaimer: First of all, I do not own any of these files.
[For CM13]:
With effect of build from Aug 2016 onwards, Audio FX will NOT be replaced by any third-party equalizer.
The ONLY solution is to first remove Audio FX by using Root Uninstaller then flash DSP Manager.
DSP Manager is an Equalizer that was once as default equalizer since CM7 and it performs almost identical to beats audio. (Best features: Dynamic Compression & Bass Boost)
Since CyanogenMod has stopped / abandoned work for DSP Manager on CM12 onwards,
I have a solution and had 2 zip files tested and FULLY working on CM12.1 & CM13 (should be also fully compatible with any versions of AOSP, modded, stock Lollipop and future Roms)
I have attached 2 zips (eng.stk's modded zip + patch) that will be needed in order to get the sound enhancement working.
Instructions:
1. Flash the modded v5.0.8 zip
2. Flash the patch(DSP.zip)
If it does not work after performing 2 flashes as mentioned, try flashing v5.0.8 zip on top again after flashing the original DSP zip.
(No wipes required)
Big shout out to CyanogenMod Team and @eng.stk
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=3873953
for all the works and all credits to them.
Be sure to check out @eng.stk other modded equalizer works.

DSP Manager might NOT work on all music players.
Original music player(Apollo) has also been included.
Enjoy!

Why are you lying about your location? Per Cyanogenmod forums you say you are in Singapore but on here it says England.

great so i will upgrade my phone to lollipop 5.1.1
This is awesome buddy! I was beating my head against the table for hours trying to figure out why Android 5.1.1 would not have a good equalizer or the prior ability to override the built in craptastic MusicFX. So after googling and reading a ton of workarounds for Lollipop, I found this thread. And using CM in the past, I really like DSP as is does all the things needed (equalizer for headphones, speakers, bluetooth). SO I did as you instructed, flashed the two files in order you mentioned (mod then original) and viola it works. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
I love it to loud lol

This would be great if I can just get a custom recovery on my GS4. I have zero success so far. I have OF1 5.01. It is rooted and only the stock recovery works. Anytime I try to install a custom recovery it fails. My bootloader shows the Samsung logo with an open lock indicating it is unlocked too. So I am completely confused on how to get TWRP or CWM on here. I need an EQ badly. This suck!!
Just to let you guys know that this methods works for CM13 / android M aosp roms too
Cheers
Works great on CM 13.0 (Android 6.0) !
Works with Poweramp on Galaxy S4 I9505 (runing CM12.1) , but it makes the sound stutter in voice calls.
Is it supposed to work on Galaxy S4 at all ? Any idea on how to fix stuttering issue in voice calls ?
Thanks for maintaining this mod.
@finallau, any suggestion on sound issue during voice call with dsp manager ?

try a wipe cache + factory reset then flash my files.
If still persists, I suggest you update to CM13
Thanks for the suggestion @finallau.
I tried flashing your files over a clean install (wiped system + cache + data, and reinstalled CM12.1 before flashing the files).
Result is the same: music playback works in poweramp with dsp manager effects enabled, but sound is broken during a voice call.
Too bad it does not work, will rely on Viper4Android from now on.
Working great on SGS2 GT-I9100 with CM13 Nightly.
How
How do i flash it on a droid turbo
I used SeLinux Mode Changer to change the kernel to permissive and Busybox too and tried to install V4A but it still didn't work. Also moved V4A to a system app, no success.
I'm on Stock based 6.0 (Marshmallux) and I don't want to flash a custom rom yet...
did you rename " /system/vendor/etc/audio_effect.conf" to "audio_effect.bak" ? marshmallow has some issues with viper http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/app-material-viper4android-2-3-4-0u-t3190352

i am no audiophile
couldn't find any difference though, then again i use the same earphones that came with the phone. Many say its bad.
i don't have any level to compare against, its all sounds same to me. i listen to music for time pass, i don't listen music for ''Music''.
and i had to restore from backup today. phone screen went black.. i was playing around with doze and flashing all these apps[Dolby ATMOS/Xposed/amplify]. so now i do not have any more enhanced music app.
Running the brazilean twrp "stock" (but its modified) from here, i simply installed the apk and let it do it's thing. This one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/app-material-viper4android-2-3-4-0u-t3190352
it keeps me prompting to install every time I reboot my phone, and I have already renamed the file you guys said.
I'm getting upset with this, I can't stand this sh*tty sound quality stock Motorola rom has and I can't make viper work in my phone
I installed a new busybox and tried to install v4a again and...
Try this version http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2952137

How exactly you install ? How did you test the sound actually ? What DSP are working as they say a lot like SRS, Viper, Dolby etc., ? Which kernel you are using ? I am new (was away for long time) so dont know where to test those settings.
Thanks

I see. Can you tell me how to enable and test Dolby, SRS effects in these mods ? There is another mod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...d-kitakami-sound-mod-prototype-t3361092/page7 which I'm using now and works good (v4a by installing the lollipop version and system defaults), but no idea about SRS, Dolby effects as i did not get any of those apps after installing the mod. Do you have any idea ?

hhmmm i am using this also, since the one that i linked have a microphone issue on the z3+, i dont really know how to unable those, since that in the zip file, there are no such "apps" apart from v4a for effects and a customized sound enhancement app.
