Hi,
So...I have a rooted samsung s4 for att running stock android rom and i've been wanting the lollipop update and i was looking into cyanogenmod 12 but i am still very inexperienced and I got a notification for the lollipop update and i tried to install it (just saying i know it wasn't a good idea i had a bad feeling about it from the start) and it downloaded and said it had to reboot so i hit install and reboot. It turned off and when it turned on it turned on into downloading mode. its been in download mode for a few hours now and i tried taking out the battery and booting up normally and i tried booting into recovery mode but that wouldn't work just kept on going into download mode...PLEASE HELP!!!!

Ok, I'm trying to make sense of what your current device configuration is before I tell you what to do. There is no lollipop for the s4 and cm won't work if you're using safestrap. I'm going to assume you have safestrap and you're on 4.4.4. If that's the card you'll need to flash the nb1 tar file in Odin to get your device working again.
Edit, see this on how to flash the nb1 tar file and return to stock.

I downloaded the official OTA update. When I went to install it the phone needed to reboot and now I've been stuck looking at the Green Android screen saying Downloading... Do not turn off target!!! and in very small writing could not do normal boot, Odin mode. I am rooted. Please help
What version is the phone? I'm reading up on things in preparation of updating myself. I'm on MF3 and for what I've read I need to Odin back to stock before updating since I'm rooted. This may not be your case figured I'd toss it out there.

Same with me. I'm stuck at the emergency firmware recovery screen. My phone was at 4.2 and it did the OTA to 4.3.3 and froze. What do I need to do to go back to stock rom?

I am rooted and I was running 4.3 GoldenEye v 11 rom BTW awesome ROM and Dev support best I've ever seen on xda. Any way today I installed my nandroid back up of stock ROM 4.2 Att gs4 sgh 1337 let it boot up any settle in 10 min..when I looked at phone I saw the Att redwhite arrows in task bar I quick shut down WiFi and now under settings status it says update continue or something .now my back up is mdb never ota before. so is this update mf3 the one u that is bootlocked or is it the 4.3 update?? I read some were Att was to start with 4.3 update yesterday what u guys think I should do? Thanks in advance ..

Ok I am going to try to go back to stock by using a firmware DL and Odin v3.07 If it works I will tell everyone. If not I may be screwed.
I'm currently on MF3 and had rooted my device previously and would like to upgrade to the new OTA. Would someone be so kind to link me to ODIN and the stock file,so I may return to stock and apply the OTA.
Thank you,

I'd recommend it but it's to late for me.
This worked for me to unroot.
To unroot, try this. It worked for me. I'm back to "official". However, I've downloaded 4.3 like 5 times already. I can download 100%, but when it reboots to install it stops at 30% then says update failed.

Same exact problem!
wading through threads for answer!
Ok I have my phone working again. I am not on 4.3 but its back to where it was before I started, which is better than nothing. After running Odin once and it failing like it always does (I have never seen it work) I was able to get the holding down volume, home and power button option to work and I just said no and to reboot and it worked. I then went into SuperSU app and unrooted. I will try to update to 4.3 at a later time. I am glad I wasn't the only one having issues. I usually pride myself on knowing technology and being able to figure it out.

I had the same problem. The only way I was finally able to upgrade to 4.3 was to use Odin to revert to stock (unrooted) 4.2.2 MF3 using the files on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2502003 Once I did that I ran the OTA update to 4.3 and it worked without any problems.
So if I oden to stock again don't root Then hit the update it should go? Weird thing is I installed my back up today and it a stock backup fresh rich from a oden wipe and it stared DL on its own before I stopped it with killing WiFi. I s this 4.3 update or is it mf3 since I never did that update. ..help. Thanks

Use the link in my previous post (post #13). That has the files and procedures for using Odin to get back to stock 4.2.2 and then you can do the OTA upgrade from there.

No need for the bounty brother...
But then check sammobile.com for the correct firmware of your phone and download only 4.4.2.
Not a version less. I.e DO NOT FLASH 4.3 or 4.2.2.
They wont work at all and will brick your device too..
So stay calm..download your 4.4.2 firmware from sammobile.com and flash it via odin ^_^
Nothing more in that..
Report if some error occurs again.
Plus if you are carrier specific as i can see...
This might work for you...

Haha..nothing great in that too..
●Flash philz recovery.
●deknox it first, then root it and then update supersu by turning the phone on.
●Now flash any rom by using philz ^_^
This long method is just to avoid complications..
Otherwise you can directly flash a rom via philz without deknoxing your phone..most roms a pre-deknoxed.

Yea I used that and I think that was the issue.. not sure.
i have the samsung galaxy s4 i9500. Ive only had the phone for about a month now. I decided i wanted a bit more customization so i rooted my phone. I had found out that you could get rid of all the bloatware on the phone so i moved some of my seemingly bloatware apps to user so i could remove them. Halfway through the process my sister canceled it on accidednt and my phone crashed. It is stuck at the blue glowing samsung logo. The device will boot into recovery and download mode. I was stupid and forgot to turn USB debugging on before i did somthing to my phone and now im stuck. Im not sure what to do. I have tried flashing stock rom using odin on a pc. Not sure if i got a bad dl or what. Im running 4.2 and could really use some help.
Thanks

Mate easiest way out is to flash stock 4.2.2 again from odin and start all over.....
PS did you try from recovery , clear dalvik and cache ......if not helping try factory reset
Your best option is to reflash a stock rom. A factory reset won't help because you deleted the apps.

You current stock rom?
If you were on 4.3 flash 4.3 or higher.
If you were on 4.4.2 flash 4.4.2.
Uncheck auto reboot. Let it flash and remain idle for 5 mins.
Then start your phone.
There can be no way this does not work.

I have a Samsung galaxy s4 running 4.2.2 AT&T, Recently I used triangle away and SuperSu to get rid of root and to get the official device status. I went into Odin and it said failure and I noticed that it said custom in the device status. So then I went to motorchopper how I rooted in the first place and did that and it also said "rooting... Failure" so now the questions is how do I get root access back so I can unroot it and then flash the official 4.2.2 and then get 4.4.2?
Flashing 4.2.2 in Odin will remove root. Why do you want to go to 4.4.2? You will no longer be able to use twrp or cwm if you do.

Oh I didn't know that well thanks for the info, I'll stay on 4.2.2 then. Now my problem if when I goto motorchopper after it installs the SuperSu it waits and then fails. From what I read that means I'm still technically rooted but idk. Also idk if the status has anything to do with it but it still says custom instead of offical

I don't know what the current status of your device is or what you're ultimately trying to achieve. But I would recommend you stay on 4.2.2, mdl, firmware and flash a 4.4.2 custom rom.

I think at this point I'd flash the stock 4.2.2 firmware from sammobile.com in Odin and start over. But watch out for the device wanting to update itself after the Odin flash. If it does you'll lose the ability to use twrp or cwm. To avoid it, root with motorchopper, but on a custom recovery and flash a custom Rom. There also three files you can freeze our delay on the device that neuteres the updates. I only remember one of them, FWUpgrade
