I'm trying to change the LED colors for certain things, but it's just not working...
1st, i want the text LEDs to blink blue. I disabled messaging notifications, and on handcent, set it as blue... SMS still goes on to a steady red for a second, then goes off when I receive a text.
2nd is email. Its a solid red as well. I want this to blink green
and finally the battery. I'd like it to blink red on 10%. on full charge, solid green would be nice.
any help?
I'm thinking a rom might be in need for something like this? it looks like something is overriding custom app settings for the colors

Exactly
When you hit green you will get magenta

So far, each notification has been white but looking closely, it looks a muffled with tinges of red and blue in there.
How should it be?
It is rgb so it should be an array of colors. I know there are apps like light flow I believe that allow you to change the color. Gosms pro for example already allows me to change color
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
All the default notification lights are white as far as I am concerned. The colour tinges is from there actually being 3 coloured LEDs being on at the same time to mix the colours into white. But, yes, if you want to customise it use Light Flow.

Ok so can anyone else let me know if they get any other colour from gmail?
Tried light flow and the test mode flickered green (but no other colours) so it seems it is working at least.

I have red for gmail... I am wondering if this is related to the fact that I have restored some data with titanium backup...
Hmm. Strange. I notice I am not always getting notifications at all, neither LED or tone.
This guide is written for Android 4.4 and whatever version of Light flow that was the latest at the time. The menus are not the same for the latest version, but the same settings still apply.
1. Settings in Light flow
Check Direct mode, Root mode and HTC alternative mode.
If you are using Android 5.0, also check Run every command as root.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/88075/Screenshot_2014-04-22-13-32-37.png
2. Settings in Android
Uncheck Flash LED notification under Display in settings.
3. Settings for the specific notification
Check Enable Mixer. Choose Solid or Flash under the color you want. Green and amber are the only colors that work.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/88075/Screenshot_2014-04-22-13-36-37.png
You can change the flashing pattern by changing the LED brightness. There are only two values that work AFAIK: 1 and 4 (2 and 3 works too but gives the same result as 1).
It's possible to combine the two colors, one solid and one flashing. Note: solid green and flashing amber is not the same as solid amber and flashing green. It is also possible to combine two flashing colors in one specific combination, check list below.
This gives us a total of 11 combinations:
Solid green
Solid amber
Flashing green, value 1
Flashing green, value 4
Flashing amber, value 1
Flashing amber, value 4
Solid green + flashing amber, value 1
Solid green + flashing amber, value 4
Solid amber + flashing green, value 1
Solid amber + flashing green, value 4
Flashing green, value 4 + flashing amber, value 1
All combinations are not easy to see but since the options are very limited it's always nice to have more to choose from.
If this helps you, please click the thanks button!
thanks. My thanks posts are maxed out so have to say thanks the ol' fashioned way.. Now that summer has ended here, our schedule will slow down (got 2 kids under 5, keeps us busy besides everything else!), I'm having big motivation to really learn the other features like camera + video of the phone as I'm OK for the operating system side of things, the past 8 years for me suffering severe chronic pain means I haven't been that keen on learning (new) stuff due to the pain overtaking most things but I'm getting a little bit better, I feel the need for learning!
Posts like this are fantastic for "the vault" and learning to take advantage of stuff besides CPU and GPU 'only'. The other half of the phone is there for the taking for moi now.

Does this allow the LED to stay lit until you dismiss a notification? Unlike now where the LED goes out after 5 mins?

On my device the notification LED using lightflow as described stays on!
Note: the solid LED settings gives a dimmed LED regardless of color and values.
With this useful thread I have setup eg. sms with solid green plus blinking amber with success. That makes a difference from the HTC standard always blinking green :good:

Probably. You need root for root mode and I'm not sure what happens if you don't use root mode.

Thanks very much for the guide. This is very helpful for someone like me coming over from Samsung which is very different.
Is this a paid option that I need? I don't see this option in my version comparing the picture that is posted. I'm on the Free version trying to get a feel for it first.

Strange. I guess you'll have to contact the developer of Light flow.
There must be way to modify stock .xml file and change duration time for LED notification. Existing 5 min is useless. I whish I know where to look for.

Is this related to Light flow? I can have LED notifications for a very long time. Not sure how long, haven't tested the limits.
Light Flow didn't work for me. But I did find line where I can change value. I think it will work sync there is no problem with led notifications on Revolution HD 7.0
Can someone correct me if I'm wrong.
system/costumize/acc/ default.xml.

Sorry about that. I am not sure how Lightflow and Magisk work (or don't work together). There is another app similar to light flow called Light Manager. I haven't used that one. It may or may not work for you. I have heard that others like it.
I've used lightflow and light manager and they both work. I personally like the way lightflow app is set up but that's just me lol.

Hey
Tryied the aplications Lightflow and Light Manager..
Good aplications but it's for changing led beside speaker...
I want to change the color notification from the led around the screen .. you guys dont have it ? o.o
An idea of what I'm talking... Led/Light Notifications
I don't believe we can't edit this led. Maybe a change of code in the rom or a mod..
we have option to deactivate this led in the rom options, soo perhaps we can access to is code to modify either.
when receiving any notification I realized when the phone screen is upside up the led appears to be thiny, and If you turn screen upside down the led light become more larger and change the color to green.
Ideas:
- Changing led notification colors.
- Changing the time of led stays on.
- Changing light effects (Breathing, Fading, Marquee, Pulse, Spectrum wave, Alternating)
- Change intensity.
Is this possible? Or some of this ideas now or in the future ?

I think that what you are talking about is edge lighting. That is a feature specific to the S8 line (I think). It is actually the screen lighting up, not an LED. I am able to get mine to light, but it is always blue. I haven't been able to change the color, duration, or pattern, but I haven't put much effort into it.
Look up Edge Lighting for the Galaxy S8 and maybe you will find some pointers on how to modify the behavior of the edge lighting. On my version of the phone there is a setting for Edge Display, but it only has a few options of when the lighting is used. No color, duration, or pattern options.

Yes, thats right...
But I don't think the light come from the screen.
Try to put phone with screen down and make a call for your phone with another phone.. When start blinking, put screen up and see the color "blue" changing to "green".
The light frame when the phone is upside down is more stronger, and when receive notifications with screen up is tiny.
I believe that is the maximus frame of the "led".
Yeah your thinking about edge light. That comes from the screen (only the edge it lit). There's no way to customize it (that I know of)

Hi ,
I have noticed a problem in blue light filter in apps available in market.
They ask for permission for drawing over apps. And the effect they produce is not similar to reducing blue color but putting a yellow/brownish layer, which makes black look brownish. When compared to the bluelight filter option given in the ROM itself , there is noticeable difference. The color doesnot look washed out. Black is still black. And the sharpness is maintained. Only thing is it lowers blue light emission from screen.
I have Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with Marshmallow and it doesnot have inbuilt bluelight filter. I want to stay with same ROM but am ready to root device if some application can actually modify contrast. I have heard that screen resolution can be modified with adb so i am ready to experiment color correction through that as well.
Hoping for a early reply,
Thanks
Ankit
