Hi I am just wondering how many not 4 users actually rooted their note 4?

Not rooted yet
I rooted because reinstalling the stock firmware with Odin tripped the KNOX bit. I was told that wasn't going to happen but too late now. So I figured I would root since it was already tripped.

It can't have been stock firmware if it tripped Knox

KNOX read 0x0 before flashing and 0x1 after flashing stock. I hadnt even downloaded another firmware before that.

I know that if I root my Note 3, that will trip Knox. Personally I am prepared to risk that. But reading odd bits here and there I have heard mention of e-fuse?
And that this can mess up the hardware?
Is that correct? And what triggers it?

Nothing will affect your hardware, rooted my phone in the first day.
Just read root/rom threads for your device carefully and follow all instructions to avoid any hard or soft brick.

Also rooted my Note 3 the first day. Tripped knox and never looked back. I would also suggest to root using cf-autoroot via Odin mode. Just search for it in the forums. Worked for me every time. Also if you like to install custom ROM so that you can use your Note 3 to its full potential.
Use kingo root it will not trigger knox. But you cant flash a custom recovery that will trigger knox. But rooting with kingo you can still mod your phone to the fullest.

I agree with the kingo advice. I used it and it's a one click easy root. If you want recovery I'd recommend safe strap. Neither of these recommendations will trip knox
Kingo is suspect. Lots of talk about why it communicates data back to some mystery Chinese server

I have a N900W8 (Canadian Note 3) which is on 4.3 Jelly Bean.
It was rooted, tried to update to the OTA 4.4.2 and was denied with a "custom" error.
So I used SuperSU full unroot option, still custom system status, cannot upgrade.
I have downloaded 4.3 and 4.4.2 stock firmwares that correlate with my CSC from sam-mobile, my question:
If I use Odin 3.09 to install the 4.3 firmware again to get back to stock, will this trip Knox? Also I am assuming if it will not I would be ok to upload the 4.4.2 firmware directly after as well, via Odin 3.09?
Let me know if you can, really itching to do this, will not do it blindly however. Need an answer from another member before I go ahead.
I hate Knox so much, last Samsung phone for sure. Stuck with it now however, I had no idea about Knox, had I known I would have most likely kept the Nexus 5 I traded for this beast,

Well, Knox was not tripped when it was rooted.
The thing is, I did not root this phone. The person I bought it off did.
He did it right as it did not trip Knox.
Can I assume that since Knox was not tripped I can flash with Odin and still not trip it?
I appreciate the reply my friend.

No issues, back to Official status.
I actually have major flashlighting on the left side of my screen. Only visible with white is anywhere BUT the left side of the screen (Best way I can explain it). Anyone know if Samsung will repair this?
Not interested in defective hardware, it's obvious this Note 3 is a one off and needs a new screen. Hoping Samsung is not going to deny me.
Just need to pick up my replacement HTC One on my actual plan (Bought this one straight up, HTC One I had was lost, have insurance.).
REALLY would like to know about the flash counter before I send this off. It has been rooted with Root De La Whatever it is (LOL) then unrooted via SuperSU, then I Odin'd the 4.4.2 update. There was a checkbox ticked called "F.Reset Time", is that it?
I'll look a bit before making my own thread on this one if no has a quick answer.
Thanks again, XDA never lets me down.
I hope that you guys have an answer for me....

Knox 2.0 is not in 4.4.2 it is an update that rolled out a few weeks ago.
Not sure if once in 2.0 it can be downgraded by flashing a previous 4.4.2 rom.
It has many new updates like the pattern lock and simplified method of transfer of data from our phone to the knox containers.
It looks like this now

Well i call it knox 2.0 because when i had a 100mb upgrade, it stated that your phone is going to upgrade to 2.0 with a kids mode functionality.
Rest even I have never noticed the version no. Just many UI changes from knox 1.0 to 2.0.
Plus Even samsung calls it 2.0. It was stated on the samsung's website that it knew about towel root exploiting the linux kernel and it shall resolve this in an update.
Rest idk what that update was. I clearly remember samsung calling it knox 2.0 upgrade update.

ok, so:
upgrade to 4.4.2 with Odin will update it without tripping KNOX, just no to upgrade KNOX to 2.0 when receive this update, and the towelroot will work.
If necessary, for warranty reasons, re-install 4.4.2 with Odin will unroot it and have stock ROM as brand new.

Just an update. I was able to root N9005DXUGNH1 firmware without tripping knox using _alxndr method which means towel root did work. My problem now is my wifi, Sammobile has not released DXUGNH1 firmware yet on their website which means i wont be able to download its kernel to fix my wifi issue(tried DXUFNG2 at the moment) My question is that can I downgrade to DXUFNG2 firmware since I believe both would have the same bootloader I guess or wait till Sammobile uploads DXUGNH1 on their website which I dont know how long will they take to do so. I currently only have 3gb data plan so I would wish to fix this wifi issue more quickly as possible. Would really appreciate your Ideas. Thanks

Heres another screenshot from Phone Info app. Now the since this app detects knox warranty void on models like s4, s5 and as far as I know s6, I highly doubt samsung went thru the trouble of putting some undetectable warranty counter and a mid range device such as our S3 neos.

I rooted mine the second day I got it (I got it somewhere around January). So far havent had any problems with it and the knox (if there is one) still says 0x0. That said rooting and flashing custom recovery is still something that may potentialy harm your device so its up to you to decide. Dont take my words as 100% proof everything will be ok. Maybe indeed w8 for a few more ppl to say if they had any problems with knox so far.

If you flash CM 12.1 , it will trip the binary counter but you can always reset the binary counter with the help of Triangle Away App by ChainFire. Resetting the binary counter and then flashing the Stock Rom will restore the warranty of your device.

I'm not talking about Knox Counter but I'm talking about Binary Counter which every Samsung phone already have and keeps track of how many times a custom firmware had been flashed. And as far as Knox Security is concerned there is still no way to reset Knox counter but fortunately S3 NEO don't have it.
