I've read a few people saying their lag has decreased when they updated the firmware using Odin instead of through the OTA. I was hoping this will wipe my data as I want to start fresh like a clean installation of Windows.
I think I found the answer. I'm already on the latest NK4 firmware on T-Mobile so I think I can just do a hard rest in recovery mode.

After flashing several times latest UBMEA firmware of my PAK region, i am still getting hiccups in performance. So after deciding to reflash to full factory direct from samsung servers through KIES, it is not letting me reflash the firmware and giving me message that 'GT-i9500' doesnt support initializing.
I even flashed older firmware to fool KIES that upgrade is available but stupid KIES is still saying that UMEK is the latest firmware and doesnt let me flash/upgrade through KIES. I even reinstalled my system but that stupid KIES doenst let me flash through KIES. So is there a way for that?
1st way - stock rom installation
2nd way - find some nice rom (i'm usin Omega ROM with faux kernel)
Do full wipe before flashing rom if you have troubles.
Alright, I have a Virgin Mobile S4. I rooted it a year ago with towelroot and installed clockwork mod on it to install cyanogenmod. I tried it, didn't like it so I restored my backup of the stock rom using CWM.
Fast forward to now. I tried to update my S4 OTA for Lollipop, but it would give me an error. I figured it was because I had changed the recovery software. So I went and downloaded the virgin mobile lollipop stock rom from sammobile. ( I337MVLUGOC4_I337MOYAGOC4_VMC ).
I tried to flash it onto my S4 using Odin 3.09. To no avail, it always failed at the system4.img.ext or something. From there I tried to make it work by using 3.10. Still failed. I googled for a fix or workaround and found something about reinstalling clockwork mod. I also tried reinstalling the PIT file for I337M. It was still not working. So I tried to flash back to my stock backup.
1st time I flashed, I kept having program that didn't want to start errors. I wiped dalvik, I wiped cache, I factory reset. Still bugged. So as a last resort I restored the backup again after having done all this. It worked! But...
Well, I'm at a lost now, I can't update using OTA, I can't update with Odin, I can't update with Kies. Now what? Is there a way to go back to the stock recovery and let the OTA or Kies update go through unhindered?
The proper place to ask this is in the AT&T S4 Forum as there are more people with that device who are able to help you. This is the International S4 forum, and while we can help you in a general sense, there may be something device specific we'll miss.
With that out of the way, with the ROM you downloaded, there would be no OTA updates when you installed it as it is the most current ROM available. Since Odin should have worked but didn't, you likely need to use a different USB port, and make sure you're not using a hub. Changing the port can often fix issues with Odin.
As @Strephon Alkhalikoi says this is not the place for it.
But there is one thing I notice. You are flashing an I337M firmware. Are you sure that's your model and you don't have an I337 (without M.
Hi,
I tried to downgrade my Note 3 with CSC VIA to Kitkat VIA. Downloaded and flashed firmware from Sammobile. Didn't work. failed in ODIN though it finished.
I tried it again and now i can flash Kitkat with ODIN "passed" but I'm stuck in bootloop. Full wipe and cache clean in recovery won't work. Tried it a last time with Kitkat DBT version (debranded) and added a PIT file by Darklord for 1DBT. ODIN says passed but the bootloop still is there. Download mode is still available so i see some real chance to get it done.
Is it possilbe to debrand to DBT that easily or shall I stay on VIA? I never tried the PIT file for DBT with VIA firmware. Anyone has a clue what I might try to get it working again? Ah btw. Recovery and Download seems to be perfectly fine and Knox isn't triggered.
Your input is highly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Try this:
1. Full wipe first (system, data, cache and dalvik)
2. Flash the VIA Kit Kat firmware via ODIN unticking "Autoreboot".
3. Take out the battery and pull in it again when the flashing process finish.
4. Boot in Recovery and make full wipe again.
5. Reboot your device and it should boot normally.
6. Tell me if it worked for ya
Hi,
thanks for you input. I tried it - still the bootloop. So I made a try with the current version (installed before). This works - most likely because I'm unable to clean Dalvik with the standard recovery.
Anyhow in the end I'm not happy with the outcome because of the bluetooth issues of the new version. Anybody has a suggestion how to downgrade sucessfully - I'd happily install a CM12.1 as well but a nightly without installation advice seems to be a bit too much for me.
try flashing MODEM with NON-HLOS, I think you have corrupted the EFS.

You can flash TWRP recovery if you don't care about KNOX and follow my steps above :highfive:
Hi I'm trying to use flashfire to flash the ota update that I was able to download but flashfire did not find it or anything. I had to go to the settings flash firmware package and then when I found it, it was corrupted and I dont know how to fix it. Might be corrupted as half bit was download when I had xposes then I uninstalled it so I could use flashfire then i restarted the download for the the update.
Now the question is how do I redownload the update?
I have tried to flash stock firmware with flash fire on my s7e a few weeks ago = soft brick (bootloop on Samsung logo, no more custom recovery and internal storage deleted) . Hopefully Odin mode (download mode) was working. Use Odin not flashfire, I promise it's better , I probably do something wrong but it's definitely better to use Odin
After some time with the T580 and FENIX ROM I'm going to give the device to a friend and therefore going back to stock.
I've successfully flashed T580XXU2AQA2 in Odin. Then recovery > wipe dalvik cache + wipe data / factory reset.
After booting to system there seems to be no software update available:
The latest updates have already been installed.
Current version: T580XXU2AQA2//

Similar message in Smart Switch.
I know for a fact there's T580XXU2BQL1, T580XXU2BQI9 and T580XXU2BQE7 available .
Can you help me understand what is preventing OTA updates?

What is available for OTA depends on your region. Looking at Sammobile, I don't even see an AQA2 listed so I don't know what region it is but it would appear to be an Android 6 version. Why don't you just get the latest version from Sammobile for your region a flash it? Then see what OTA does? Mine just did an OTA to BRB2 within the last couple of days.
SOLVED
Here is what I did to resolve the issue: I flashed a 4 part firmware of BQI9 (3 part to be precise - gtaxlwifi has no phone, and using the CSC not HOME_CSC) in Odin.
After a reboot, the device downloaded and successfully applied the latest firmware after going to settings > software update > download updates manually. Now on BRB2.
