[P907A] New Software Update P907AUCU1ANK2 - Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 General

It looks like Samsung and AT&T have released the SM-P907A's first software update. It's still Android 4.4.2 but fixes a really major bug that caused the System UI process to go into an infinite crash loop when you would adjust the volume while connected to a Chromecast.
As far as the BSOD goes, so far, I have not experienced it with this new firmware. That said, I want to use it for at least a week before I say for sure that it's fixed.
One bug that doesn't seem to be fixed, though, is with VPN. Using the standard Android VPN functionality, I can connect to my work's Cisco VPN via IPSec Xauth PSK on any Android device except on the P907A. If I set it up, it connects, then immediately disconnects. Annoying.
AT&T also added a bigger, more gaudy 4G LTE icon.

Mine is still BSODing after the update. No difference, and maybe worse...

Yep my SM-P907a also getting the blue screen the update hasn't fixed the issue.

This update seems to have unrooted my tablet and now towelroot says its unsupported... has anyone else experenced this?

Every OTA is going to unroot your device. That's just a fact of life with Android.

It unrooted mine also, I even had the box checked in SuperSU to try to maintain root. Guess I may have to look into reverting back to old firmware...
EDIT: I ended up using ODIN to go back to stock. After doing so, I rooted using towelroot then before installing SuperSU I used the debloat script to disable Knox and the updater. This has allowed me to have root without Knox tripping plus no random reboots. In short use the debloat script and not SuperSU to disable Knox and you will be good to go.

What is this debloat script you speak of? I am sending my note 12.2 back for the second time tomorrow....so I have to Odin back to stock and reroot when it gets back.

I am working up a post here in general outlining how to do everything I talked about.

I just got mine back from Samsung repair for the 3rd time. So in total, they have replaced the motherboard twice, the screen twice and updated the sw each time. It is still doing the blue screen nonsense! I'm really discouraged. I can't find much online about this problem. I will keep up with this forum in hopes of someone being able to come up with a solid solution. I have lost my faith in Samsung. Lol and that's sad because every device I own is Samsung. Over the past few months, I have managed to teach myself how to root my tablet...any further than that gets really confusing. Lol so any help would be appreciated!

How to get rid of lag for good (firmware update)

-Kiss the lag goodbye first, since you'll never see it again
-Download Odin 3.09, and download this firmware file -BMJ6 (its 2 updates newer than the one most people have)
Choose AUSTRALIA
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=SM-P600&pcode=0#firmware
-Put your tablet in download mode, connect by USB, choose the md5 file in Odin (AP) and flash
-Once it boots up and you're in, factory reset
-Once you are in in again, install Nova Launcher (optional but recommended)
-Open S voice, hit menus, and disable option that allows it to be launched via home button
-Uninstall/Disable any useless apps
-Give the tab 5-10 minutes to update/index everything, and watch it fly
OPTIONAL:
-Obtain root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2490805
-Freeze the 7 Knox containing items in the Titanium Backup app and any garbage you see fit (S-Finder, S-Voice, Samsung apps)
**I tested this on my P600 bought from the States, and it's blazing fast now, keyboard launch speed, home button speed, notification bar.. even Chrome is faster.
you may lose access to some apps. I think if you edit the build.prop or some csc file and set the region to xar it should give back some apps.

^this is correct, so far though I've been able to access all apps I use. Haven't observed anything missing yet. Speed is so worth it right now
You need to be rooted for this I'm assuming? I just picked mine up today and yes there is so much lag, even with Nova launcher.
Any tips on how to fix it without rooting first? Kinda waiting for a 0x0 Knox root for the SMP600

Oh okay cool. Stupid question though, will this trip Knox?
And how do you get into Download mode again?
I'm not too sure about the Knox question, what happens when it gets tripped? I've had no knox notifications or problems at all after I flashed it
and even after rooting and freezing knox, still no problems or notifications during boot or when im in andorid..
Download: When tablet is off, hold power button and volume down until you see the screen, then volume up to continue

Flashing this Stock Firmware Update via ODIN will not trip KNOX, so you can do that without worries.
But if you root device with the optional information at the bottom of the OP, you will trip the KNOX "eFuse". I personally don't are about my KNOX status as ROOT is more important for me, and I purchased a SquareTrade warranty for the device, and they don't care either.
Is this the same FW Update that this user got?

Also, can we use Mobile ODIN to flash this?

Well, that worked, once I rebooted from unrooting I checked for updates, it came through and I applied it, now to see if I can reroot on this new FW.
You can definitely re-root after this firmware. The UI is definitely snappier. Thanks to the OP!
Can someone confirm that this does eliminate all lag? In particular, can someone with LectureNotes confirm that there is no problem coming out of the app?
I'm on a crappy iPad Air and am missing my Note!!
I rooted via Beans and got the "system modified" message so no update for me. Flashed MJ4 via Odin 3.09 and was able to get the update (didn't have to reset), but will have to reroot. SuperSU pro won't even launch.

no, no speed increases. either everyone else must have had crappy tablets or they're just having a placebo affect. hell, i even factory reset after the last update just for S&G's and had 0 improvement. if it is better, then it must be so minute that i can't perceive it and no benchmark that gives hgher numbers will make me see any speed increases in real use.
i am happy with it, but samsung must have come out with some crappy software to bog this beast down. i mean even the keyboard lags when typing. i can type craploads faster using thumb kb instead of the samsung split kb.
and the multitouch issue hasn't been resolved either -that's been discussed in some other thread here.
i'd love for them to fix all these issues, but if we don't have a dev to replace beans (if he leaves) then i'll have to ignore any future updates if we have to give up root for it.

Everything was running pretty smooth for me already but this last update has definately increased the speed in opening and closing applications, restart and shut down, coming out of lockscreen and overall efficiency in Graphical rendering. My guess is that the update improved communication between the octocore processors and the GPU. Lecturenotes is fluid both in both opening closing and using it in multiwindow.
The biggest things that improved for me with this update was the opening/closing of apps and the fluidity of screen rotation. The UI was smooth before the update but certain aspects were definitely improved after it.
You gotta admit guys, we all should know by now that YMMV with updates. What might make things better for one person might make it worse for another...
OK I've used MK1 for 3 days now, and I just flashed back to the J6 in the OP
It is way faster, I'm not convinced its an older build but just a different one (for Non-NA)
Either way, I'm glad I flashed back, much faster, and i get the ripple effect on the lock screen again
PS: if you care for the multi user account, which I don't, then stick to MK1
this is my opinion and what I consider fast/snappy, as stated above YMMV

SM-T320 March 2015 Firmware Upgrade

I've just installed the latest firmware for the TabPro 8.4; KOT49H.T320XXUBOC1. Disappointingly, it's still 4.4.2 which makes me wonder if we'll ever see a L-pop upgrade. I've only been running it for a half-hour or so but can't notice any difference. I'll report back if there any major problems.

That firmware is just for the UK, which I believe went to NI1 last fall about a month before the U.S. went to NK1.
I don't know that I'd read a lot into it. If anything, they could be getting UK firmware better aligned with other locations for a smoother universal upgrade to 5.
Edit: Okay, looks like it's indeed out now for the U.S., too. Still hoping it's progress towards a Lollipop upgrade.
So does anyone actually know what changes this update brought? I was having some issues with my tab pro 8.4 missing touches, i 1st noticed it during gaming but was able to replicate it with display tester multitouch test.
It seems to be fine now, i thought for sure it was a hardware defect but now I'm not so sure. Anyone else in a similar position as me?

I'm in the process of trying to line up everything to do this. My update that pushed through took me to T320UEU1AOC1. I haven't located the extracted US kernel file for that and unfortunately don't know how to pull it from my current build. Anyone know if that would work to get me back to my current build and keep my US region?

Could you put the steps I need in order to what you did here?
I have the Romanian version of the updated ROM on a T325.
The biggest issue I have noticed is with the light sensor, with the previous ROM the auto setting worked smoothly, now with the new ROM the screen doesn't fade continuously. Whenever I turn on the screen the brightness just switches from a higher to a lower setting or inversely (without smooth fading and with lag), also the screen flickers horribly when it detects a change so I can't use the auto anymore.
The second issue is with the Samsung keyboard with learning disabled, in a Facebook floating chat window I tried to respond to someone and the keyboard would auto complete with empty words and after every word I had to delete the word before to be able to write the next word. I had to re-enable the learning to get rid of this very annoying problem.
I will try to downgrade to the previous ROM and root it with towelroot and say goodbye to any future official Samsung updates. Samsung has the ****tiest update developers, actually I had the same problem with the auto light setting (but not so serious) with the ROM which was before the good one.
By the way, if Lollipop comes DON'T UPGRADE. Lollipop on S5 sucks bigtime, the phone has major issues, android eats more battery than the screen.
Stick with the previous ROM, for me it was the most flawless one. I might try a cache wipe on the current ROM but I doubt it has anything to do with the screen flickering.

After losing root when I took the T320UEU1AOC1 update, I was able to flash the T320 kernel in this thread then use Towelroot again. I did have to reboot, even though it told me I wouldn't need to. I uninstalled and reinstalled SuperSU (hit cancel when I got the SuperSU notice about Knox) and verified root with Root Checker Basic. Then installed the AOC1 kernel. I still have root and Knox is not tripped. (KNOX KERNEL LOCK: 0x0; KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x0)

Did the upgrade this morning. Bit of a heart stop when it sat at the Verizon screen for about 5 minutes on the reboot, but then it finally brought up the updating apps screen.
Only problem I've found so far is that for some reason, it removed just about every one of my purchased apps. All the free ones were there, but had to go out to the store and re-download all those I had bought. Strange...
Verizon Messenging crashes for me, but if I uninstall the Verizon Messenging app update it will work. Other than that 5.1.1 working thus far.

I too am awaiting confirmation on this before updating
I have the update.zip if it will help any devs with root or bootloader unlocking. It seems the update is a 2-parter, I have the the first update which according to the description "prepares your device for the 5.1.1 update." Please contact me if anyone can use it
Due to some new policies at work, Rooted devices weren't allowed to be connected to our E-mail, so I went ahead and took the plunge to 5.1.1 without worrying about rooting (gasp....did I just say that?). Anyhow, this thing feels like a new device. Much smoother, more responsive and it seems that the battery life is actually improved. IF Root does come along for the 5.1.1 update, I may root it and just use one of my other tablets for work, but I'm pleasantly surprised how well the NP runs at this point. Also...REALLY surprised that Verizon actually had the 5.1.1 update.

I don't think there's a root yet for the Verizon variant, and I've not actively searched for one at this point. It was needed while the Tablet was on 4.4.2, but 5.1.1 gives me enough control not to worry about it too much right now. Before I used Towelroot, which will NOT work on the new version.

Thanks for the feedback!
I have a specific reason to root and thats to use linux deploy so I can have a fully functional Linux OS on my tablet which would be really ideal so I think the root is still required. What control did you gain in upgrading to 5.1.1 ? Linux deploy needs root and SELinux permissive, from what I can tell, to use a loopback device and install the Linux OS there so I think even if I did get root, I'd still need to custom compile a kernel and to that end, I am not too confident in possibly bricking my brand new tablet. For now I seem to be able to settle on a VNC session to a Linux VM I have on DigitalOcean
i'm totally excited that my NP will eventually be updated to 5.1.1 it's just i'm still completely confused on why my stock (no-carrier) branded NP is still on 5.0.1, when Big-Red carrier is rolling out 5.1.1 to their devices.
I think I can smell the money being transferred to Sammy for Bid-Red's propriety rollout.

I've actually noticed less bloatware, and apps that I couldn't disable before (which is why I rooted so I could get rid of them), I can disable now. I have a 128GB card in it loaded with Music, Books, Images, and on 4.4.2-the device would often F/C which it's no longer doing. I've also noticed that the micro-stutters as I call them, are gone. Everything is a lot smoother.

i'm totally excited that my NP will eventually be updated to 5.1.1 it's just i'm still completely confused on why my stock (no-carrier) branded NP is still on 5.0.1, when Big-Red carrier is rolling out 5.1.1 to their devices.
I think I can smell the money being transferred to Sammy for Bid-Red's propriety rollout.

Trust me friend....I was just as surprised when my Verizon Tablet had the update. I read about it while at work and told my Team Lead that I MUST go home right now, work from home or something, but I gotta leave NOW.
Do I have to throw my Verizon SIM to get the update or can I just keep it on WiFi?

Mine came over Wifi but I've always had my Verizon SIM in. Not sure if there was a pre-check before downloading.
I'm upgrading my rooted tablet now using Kies (I figure the upgrade is worth risking losing root--but I'm not sure it'll work anyway since I outright deleted Knox). I'll let you know if TR works to re-root, or if I lose root in the first place.

dot dot dot ... apparently I didn't read the threads above I'm upgrading regardless.

DO NOT UPDATE FROM APGC TO API4... (If you want root...)

Tested right before replacing my N7 (v1)...
After upgrading to latest API4 "Green Battery" Update...
Confirmed:
- Unable to Odin Sprint "Root" Firmware...
- Unable to downgrade to APGC...
Result...
No root & stuck with API4... (Not bricked)
so... in other words... IF you want root... stay with APGC and simply wait for an API4 ROM... (with APGC bootloader)
Get the new phone... and DO NOT update...

Soon as my v2 comes in, I'm downloading the package disabler app first and blocking updates

I'm not losing my only chance at root with this phone.. why would they revert back to the jelly bean battery color...like wtf
To make it easier to identify version 2 phones.
OP care to explain how you updated to the V2 update on a V1 device ? e
MOD EDIT:
Please do not quote the whole OP when posting.

The API4 update is available to V1 phones. I took it, knowing I'd be getting a new phone in a couple of days.
As I understand it, they'll make you take it one way or the other.
i can confirm do not update your v2 note 7 to the new firmware. you cannot downgrade and they have blocked the sprint userdebug firmware from even flashing.
if you want to keep root. don't do it.
wht are the chances that the update comes straight from the box..
It does bro....i got mines today and it automatically started down loading...i just asked this question to @jovy23 in another thread
Yep, mine installed right out of the box. what a bunch of a-holes. wifes did the same thing, no root now welp, perhaps its time to return it and buy a different phone. this is retarded.

why would I worry about that? tmobile owes me so many credits at this point I should have credit enough to cover my next bill
Saw someone mention it, and will try the same, but boot without sim card and wifif then disable the update app.....root then add sim.
Hopefully that will work cause I need my root. Dammit Samsung how dare you "burn" us again !!!

as long as the phones don't come preinstalled then it's fine.
Well... I just updated to API4 intentionally, to try out the new update on my v1 device. I gotta say it's much more snappier now and lag is completely gone after it fully boots everything. But it's still not worth losing root over. So I'm either gonna get a refund or buy the international version, better yet might just say goodbye to sammy all together.
I don't know why anyone is still surprised about non-Nexus devices being locked down. Sure, a device might get root access, but it's the OEMs job to fix it in future builds because it's an exploit that needs to be fixed.
My update downloaded but I disabled, anyone know where the update file is? What folder? I can't find it.
the update ran as soon as it connected to their wifi network to set up the phone. crap, can't root now.

Same here, it downloads on its own but it can be postponed up to 3 times before it automatically installs the update, so what do I have to disable so the update won't install, or where can i find the update and delete that sob? Any info would be much appreciated as I don't have access to a computer to root or have the time at this very moment.

What exactly did u disable?
You can go into settings and turn off auto updates, or download package disabler from the play store and disable the 2 software updates lines. I still have a v1 phone and no update here because of that

S5 Rebooting issues with 2 of the same phone? (HELP)

In November I had bought 2 Samsung Galaxy S5's from Walmart through Straight Talk. One for me and my Wife. They worked perfectly until about the middle of March, and my Wife's phone had kept restarting non stop whether she was on it or not. Sometimes more than once in a 30 second span. Then one day it didn't do it for about 2 days.. then MY PHONE starts doing it. Non stop all throughout the night and just die from battery drainage. I eventually contact Straight Talk to do a swap for a different one since I still had warranty. It takes them about 10 days total for me to get my replacement. The entire time my phone was sent out my Wife's never restarted or acted up once. I get my replacement yesterday and mine phone is running great and hers tonight just RESTARTED ON IT'S OWN. I'm very confused because it seems are phone's are making one another restart? I have heard problems of the S5's restarting for no real reason at all, but why would hers be doing it only when I had gotten mine back up and running? I'm seriously out of answers and tired of this restarting issue happening. We have tried factory reset, freeing up space, deleting all apps, safe mode, clearing cache often, and the problem still persists. If anyone could help, I would be truly thankful!
is this the G902VL? if so, you can try to flash the tar.md5 specifically for it via Odin. Its the old boot-n-nuke method. Your other thought of one phone affecting the other, I seriously doubt that is even possible, much less a likely thing

It is the S903VL. Someone awhile ago uploaded the tar.md5 for this phone and while it successfully flashed and then boots, the problem still persists about 30 minutes after doing this.

you could root it, but that would void the warranty. I know that the verizon version of MOAR 7.0 works on this phone and is pretty stable, but from what youre describing, it sounds like a hardware issue

I would have already rooted if I could. There is no available root method for this phone on 6.0.1. I'm very confused how this could be a hardware issue even after the phone being replaced. My buddy has had the same phone for about a year and a half and he has said that he never encountered any issue with this device.
