Like the title says, you can now get rid of the Google search bar on the homepage by long pressing on the desktop then choosing settings, and you can then turn off Google search bar!
Enjoy!

Unfortunately you can't reclaim the space it used, it's just hidden.
Honestly, I didn't even notice that, I was just happy that I was able to get rid of something that I never used... Thanks for pointing it out.

Or you could use a 3rd party launcher (especially since the Moto Widget works with them now) and actually get rid of it

I was just wondering if any of y'all know how to remove some apps icons from the app menu? For instance better keyboard or some live wallpapers I've installed. I just wanna remove things that you can access from the settings. Thanks for your time.

I'm running LP (not sure if TW has this feature) and if you hit the
setting button > preferences > general settings> Hidden Apps > Choose the apps you want and hide them. I hid a lot it really comes in handy like swype tips.
I don't have launcher pro (which I'm assuming LP is) I'm using the default Touchwiz.

Touchwiz is a slow, uncustomizable, piece of junk. Use lp or adw

Though I'm a fan of anderwebs, I find launcher pro to be a better product. It comes with its own widgets and is very smooth. You can also hide apps in your app drawer.
Not sent from my Vibrant using XDA App 'cause I returned it.
I also use LaucherPro but I will also actually answer your quesiton.
Go into the App List and press
Menu>View Type>Cutomizable grid
Then press
Menu>Edit
You'll see little red minus signs on icons that can be removed. When you've gotten rid of the ones you don't want, just hit Menu>Save and you're all set. Of course, this means that you'll have to move the icons of new apps if you like the alphabetical list.
I might be the only one that doesn't like the notification bar with the quick access menu and list of recently used apps. I prefer the old version coupled with using widgetsoid instead to have only the settings I want/need, and not take up half the pull-down menu with the recent apps.
Is it possible to revert only the notification bar, or delete the quick access/recent apps options?
Not sure but i love that bar it makes finding the app I use most often ez like wifi tether.

True, but how is it any different than holding down the home button for 2 seconds?
Its really not in any way but i always forget that you can hold down the home button for 2sec but i am constantly reminded where my recent apps are every time i get a text, email or missed call...... Maybe thats just me though i can see how you would not like it.

Yeah I hate that new pull down bar it was a good idea but I'm so use to using the home key that even on a GB ROM I still use the home key

Damn, assuming that no response can only mean that it's impossible. That's a shame, really liked sense beyond this issue.
Okay, so I know this has been asked before, I've been searching XDA and googling and have found some threads on the topic, but most of them are old and unresolved. So I'm reaching out to see if maybe there's a new development that I haven't been able to find.
Is there any known way to HIDE apps from the app drawer of a stock launcher? I know that Launcher Plus Pro and some other home replacements have this feature built in, but I'm using Virtuous Unity and am really happy with Sense 3.0 at the moment.
It seems like such a basic function, I can't believe there's a) no native feature to do this; and more surprisingly b) there's no 3rd party app that will do this?
I've found some apps that 'hide' your drawer apps (i.e. Hide It Pro) but this not only hides the app from the drawer, but makes it so you can only launch the hidden app from within the app that's hiding it (meaning you have to go into Hide It Pro to launch the hidden app).
I'm using wave launcher and swipepad for my most used apps and games, and would ideally like to remove these apps from the app drawer so they're not cluttering it up, but STILL BE ABLE TO LAUNCH THE APPS from the alternate launcher/shortcuts. With Hide It Pro I was able to remove the apps from the app drawer, but was then unable to launch that app from wave launcher for example.
My reasoning for wanting to do this is not confidentiality/privacy, but rather just to clean up my drawer/app system. Ideally I want my most used apps to be accessed via the secondary launchers (wave and swipepad) and just have the other, less-used apps in the app drawer. Is this possible?
at the moment, I dont think its possible...but I may be wrong. the best current solution would be to use a diff launcher, but yeah it sucks because all the sense widgets would disappear when trying to add them to homescreens (but the apps still work fine). keep us updated if you find a solution, I would like to know as well
Unfortunately I did not find a way to do it too. I am using Go Launcher EX. It can hide apps from the drawer, and still you can launch them from the home screen or elsewhere.
Thanks for the replies. Yeah from my research it doesn't really seem possible. It seems like it should be a pretty basic function but oh well. Thanks anyway guys.

Thanks for that, I came across that during my research. Seems cool and if it replaced the default app drawer I'd be all over it. But I don't want a homescreen icon as my app drawer. But thanks for the suggestion!!

Is there a way some could extract the lockscreen from QQ Launcher or recommend a lockscreen that is very similar to it? I tried to get some off the market but those never override the system lockscreens. I was hoping for a apk or even a zip for one.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I dont know what that lock screen is but i use menu lock which gives you 8 buttons. You pull the button over to open an app that you have assigned. I also use No Lock which is an app that keeps your phone from using its lock. Together it makes it to where the only lock i see is menu lock.
It is the best app i have of the over 100 i now have and the well over 500 i have tried.
Good luck.

Thanks for replying.... I forgot all about No Lock. I think I know how to get the lockscreen that I want.

Yup NoLock is great I use it to text at school and don't want an unlock screen lol
Sent from my SPH-D700
Well I think I spoke to soon. I can't disable the system's lockscreen. Even with No Lock enabled. I downloaded the QQ Launcher just for the lockscreen so that I could use it with Go Launcher. It works sometimes, but Im still getting my old system lockscreen. Its gotta be a way to disable the system lockscreen.

Is there a way to get rid of that grey Google search bar on top of all the screens? The drag an delete function doesn't seem to work.
Thanks!
I don't think there is any way to get rid of it on the Stock ROM. From what I understand its basically built onto the launcher. If it really bothers you, you could consider switching to an alternate launcher like Apex or Nova to get rid of it.

Didn't think of that. Maybe I'll give one of those a whirl.
This worked for me:
Settings>Apps>All>Google Search>select "Disable", then click "OK" on the "...other apps may misbehave" pop-up. You may have to reboot to get rid of the bar.
This will disable the search function on your tablet; there will be no way to search for contacts, apps or anything. If there is a problem you can always repeat the process and enable Google search again.
I personally didn't care for the search bar and I don't use the search function. I have only had my N10 since this morning, but removing the search bar was one of the first things I did and I have yet to have a problem.
Hope this helps.

Yes, the Now swipe-up functionality is in the navigation bar, which 3rd-party launchers don't change.
