How to tether on Sprint GS5 LOLLIPOP - Sprint Galaxy S 5 General

Ok, i Got hotspot on STOCK lollipop (leaked build), and this is how i did it. It took a few tries
YOU WILL NEED:
1. ROOT
2. "Wifi tether router" app
3. Patience.
Now let's begin
1. Purchase and download the app
2. Use the galaxy s5 setting he has on his website.
Now here comes the tricky part.
3. Go back to the main screen and open the notification bar and set the system hotspot button close by.
4. QUICKLY Tap the native hotpot toggle to turn it on and the notification bar should automaticaly slide up, when it goes up turn on the router app.
5. A message saying "you have not subscribed to this service blah blah" from sprint shoud appear. DONT CLOSE IT YET.
6. Look at your wifi toggle, it should be turning on itself. When it does QUICKLY Close the message and turn off the wifi toggle. (It will take a few tries)
7. After you quicly
Code:
[CODE]
[/CODE]turn off the wifi it should not turn on again. If it did you were not quick enough.
8. The router will finish setting up and your phone will be a Hotspot.
I will make a vid if anything.

Theres the vid.

Please let me know what I have to do on how I use this file. Do I install it in recovery after rooting my S5? Im on version 4.4.4 NK4.

I installed this app on my Sprint S5 after rooting and when I click on "Check System Settings" it says sqlite not found, attempting to install then it says sqlite seems to have failed installation, are you sure root is working.
I have run Root Checker and it says I have root access. When I start native hotspot it says Hotspot Activated then it says Unable to to establish wireless data connection MIP:67, then says Your plan may not have Hotspot service.
Any help with this? What am I doing wrong?

What ROM and what version are you on? Try using sqlite installer from the play store, then come back to the unlocker app and click the next few buttons, reboot and things should work.
Also having busybox installed is sometimes needed depending on your ROM version.

Try going to Apps>Google Settings>Android Device Manager and selecting both options. Also have you enabled ADM in settings>security>device administrators? One other thing to try Access location has to be enabled under Google Settings>Location.

Simms,
i found a fix to google backup issue:
works ok for me:
in terminal type this:
su (press enter)
bmgr transport com.google.android.backup/.BackupTransportService (press enter)
(exit terminal)
source:http://forums.androidcentral.com/spr...5-12-a-13.html
This is an old bug....and I do not understand why the 4.3 release has this bug.
But..... fixed the backup, but the device manager still doesn't work LOL.

They work, it just might take a few tries. Once jcase releases his updated root method it will work better since you can fully reboot without having to install xposed and soft reboot again.
Wait until we have full system write abilities. Then this should be awesome.
Does it have a Wi-Fi tether and sound state switch tile in it?
Sent from my DROID MAXX via Tapatalk 4.
No the only two it adds are Airplane Mode and Rotate Lock.
Everything works but you must mount the system read/write and do soft reboots through the Xposed App every time it requires it instead of fully rebooting.

I've had no problem. You need to make sure you do the following
1) - Root using PwnMyMoto
2) - Confirm root
3) - Reboot into recovery (Download Holo Reboot from market to make it easier)
4) - Recovery reboot will mount RW permission
5) - Install MotoXposed
6) - Install Xposed
7) - In Xposed tap framework and Install/Update (reboot required, if it reboots on its own make sure you reboot recovery again)
8) - Then use motoxposed and make your changes and apply then reboot (remember to reboot recovery)
Should work fine now.

Motoxposed doesn't let you adjust the new settings, but the is an xposed module that will. Open the xposed app and click download. You will see a whole list of modules to load. One of them is the nfc app.
Also gravity box, another module available in the downloads, adds about 20 quick tiles and lets you customize a ton of different things. With gravity box I finally have the maxx I wanted 3 weeks ago.

From what i read in other threads I'm led to believe this is a temporary root, and will disappear upon reboot. It also installs kinguser, not superuser, and superuser cant be installed to replace it.
Also, this was from the Dev thread directly

I think this guy should have noted in this video it only works on 4.4.4 kit Kat and that when you reboot you will lose root sometimes you don't even have to manually reboot it will just shut down randomly and root is gone ....and for Lollipop it only gets to 51% and auto shuts down I would just wait for the devs to just put something awesome together I tried it yesterday and it was a headache trying to not reboot but when it randomly shut down on its own several times I was done with it ...jmo!!

no. nothing permanent about kingroot. every reboot it is gone.
tried on Verizon Note4 and when I opened the app, it just show me the envelope and didn't give me the lock like in the video. So it's not working for me.
I tried this kingroot last night, say for like 5/10 min til I got tired of waiting and then I Uninstalled the shop and nothing had occurred. But I have no bank or sensitive info on device, nothing financial or even remotely sensitive info... so was worth it to try.
But no go and no root. And I wad ready as when I upgraded to lollipop and set up phone, play store was reinstalling apps from my note 3, that I switch back and forth between, installed supersu and titanium (though I've no root on 4 obviously! ) I was ready to jump into titanium and start Uninstaller Bloat if
I got proof of root thru supersu granting it, or whatever the kingroot Su access is. .. either way I wad ready though. ...
No go. .. so I leave it at that till someone comes up with a surefire way too do this.
Reading up on multisystem now... looks interesting! Since no more safestrap..... multisystem looks the way next forward, though a tad bit complicated. It'll work eventually!

I would expect about ten times more traffic on this in the thread, but seems so suspect that most appear not to be biting. Me included, but not worth it anyway IMO due to just a temporary root.

Yeah, I thought people would get crazy, but I mean , temporary root is not so bad right? For example it would work to get rid of the s finder and quick connect persistent icons on the notification bar , right?

New Update - 1498.71MB - What could it contain?

I'm happy with my S7 Edge other than some intermittent issues with WiFi so I don't plan to root (and I'm surprised there is a root method  (I don't get on XDA that often )) but I can't help but wonder what this 1.4GB update contains. I'm at work now but will do some digging up when I have free time to determine if I have something to do after work or if I'm just going to ignore and continue with my stock S7.

I don't have much installed and do have a 32GB SD card that is 5% utilized. The problem was Autoboy Dash Cam videos eating up all the internal storage, so that's cleared up but strange even, is the fact that PG1 is 555 MB from PF2 (See here). My S7E build is PF2 but the download is advertised as 1.4GB :silly:.
I wondering if anyone can shed some light here. I'm tempted to see what happens but either way but 1.4 when PG1 is advertised at 555 MB is just silly.
EDIT: Ok, I power cycled the phone after clearing space as I mentioned and the download size is advertised correctly now. (599.36MB)
Yeah that's crazy man. You should figure out if there's a way to save your dash cam vidoes to the SD instead

This is not for download only. After download file have to extracted somewhere and process installation files in cache. That why your phone need 1.4GB of free space to update your phone. After installation downloaded file and extracted files are deleted from temporary files and clear cache files from process.
I'm getting an error after downloading the update. It says "Install Interrupted" it downloads then reboots and looks like it's taking but then shows this error. It also pops up a message that says No Firmware. I was rooted but I'm back to stock and Official Status. Thanks
Hmm the update showing up on my phone is only 599.36mb. I'm on PF2.

Something has changed in system partition in order for the flash to fail. I recommend reflashing stock then trying to update.

It's probably only 600mb download but after you extract it to install it takes up additional space.

Still Android 6.0.1 and yes you need to be stock and unrooted unless you use Odin.

You have to give it a while to settle in. Stay on this update as long as you were on the other and then test.

Disable OTA Updates?!

So today I tried to open PDP and it wouldnt work so uninstalled and reinstalled, all the apps I had froze came back and now I can't seem to stop the annoying update notification..
I've looked everywhere and the packages that seem to stop it aren't anywhere to be seen.
How do I stop the annoying update notification, it's getting on my nerves I'm thinking of just updating but I'm on PC8 and don't want to?

You can go to Setting > Applications > Application Manager > More > Show System Apps > Software Update > Notifications > Hidden on lock screen.
It'll hide it from the lock screen but it'll still be in the notification menu. Unless you have root, you may be able to freeze/disable it.

You can use adb shell
pm hide com.sec.android.soagent
pm hide com.wssyncmldm
This should stop the notification

If you are on PD8 of T-Mobile you should be able to use this.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/debloater-remove-carrier-bloat-t2998294
download the program to windows and follow the guide to block system updates.
download the .apk from this note 7 link. it worked for me. PDP had to remove the software update .com because Samsung forced them to.(thank the note 7 for that)

did you try activating Admin first?
Go to note7alliance.com , they have all the info you need to block all updates. They even have a cool app to keep updates away. It's free! Note 7 Alliance is also on fb, and will usually answer questions immediately.
