Replacement for HTC widgets

Hello guys,
I want to use Helix launcher instead of Sense but unfortunately (as you all know) the HTC widgets won't work with a different launcher.
So now I'm looking for substitutes for the original HTC widgets.
I already replaced:
HTC Flipclock & Weather ==> Beautiful Widgets
HTC Friendstream ==> Pure Messenger
I still need replacements for:
- HTC Contacts widget (Favorites) in 4x4 size
- HTC News widget (Google RSS-feeds and other RSS-feeds) in 4x4 size, also scrollable if possible
Can somebody help me out with the last 2 widgets? What can I use from market?

Can't help with the last two but your first replacement isn't exactly what i would do as a first choice. Did you look into "Weather and Toggle" Widget? It's almost like a direct copy of the standard sense flip clock and weather but you can change the colours etc.

I second that. Much preferred Weather and Toggle widget too.

Thanks for the suggestion Does it also use 4x2 tiles of space (like the HTC widget) or is it smaller like the Beautiful Widget (4x1)?
I could live with the absence of the Contacts widget, but I really need to find something as a replacement for that handy HTC News widget...

Oooh! That looks nice and it updates the weather for my location too
Can you tell me what the clock skin name is for your first screenshot? (looks like the default HTC one) The getting hold of skins looks to be the most confusing part of it!

Its just the default one. You go to clock skins downloader in options and it just says default.

This one is also an exact copy of the

I use newsroom but not as a widget (although you can). Try it, it's by far the best app I have found in this cat.

Sorry, not trying to hi-jack the thread, but can anyone tell me if "Weather & Toggle widget" auto-updates the weather? If so, where in the settings window can you see this? I can manually update it but I'm not sure that it's doing it itself!

[LAYOUT + ICONS] CommonSense v1.3 (new icons)

Hey all! This is a theme I made to make my device both practical and stylish. I got tired of all of the minimalistic themes out there because they were so unpractical. So many people requested this that I decided to make entire thread for it
I was inspired by a screenshot I saw in the General Android Themes thread but I can't find the post anymore. I haven't made any of the icons myself so all credit goes to the artists at DeviantART The small icons I combined from icons made by chrfb and borncold. There's an about.txt inside the zip file containing all the information about the origins of the icons. The lockscreen is a combination of modified programs by Andrewtst
Feel free to share and modify! I hope you share your own modifications and icons in this thread so that we can develop this theme even further

What to do:
- Add add the big icons as size "large" desktop visualizer widget and resize them to smaller size (this improves image quality)
- Add the small icons as size "middle" and then resize them to smaller size
- Add the category icons as size 4x1
- Set the dock icon to "Froyo"
- To get the dots on the sides of the dock you just add a new shortcut and select "homescreen"

To get the unread SMS and missed call icons install this Unread SMS count modded by Andewtst.

The round icons are included in the modded widget, but you can download them here. I can't recall who's made them but I just happened to have them on my computer. I think they're from Win7 phones.

My old layout looked like this:

Ah, that's quite similar to the one I saw I liked it but thought it had too few icons and didn't make use of the dock bar. Anyways I like that style a lot. Maybe you could share your icons and wp too so people can use them?

I have a question about the large icon that is to be placed in the center of the screen. How can I make this big, when I add it the icon appears tiny and I cant seem to find an option to make it bigger?
Edit: I am so silly!!! I realised I needed to add this as a widget

these all are made of widgets.what if we wipe our phone before installing a custom rom? do we have make all icons etc again? i mean is there any way of backing up these?

Not that I know of. LauncherPro can't backup widget settings so I don't think there's a way.

Lockscreen:
On the lock screen you can see the missed calls, messages and gmail messages. Tap twice on the white area to unlock.
Homescreen:
Swipe right to view the red toggle menu and the app drawer. You can turn on/off 6-8 features. Default settings are wifi, mobile data, wifi hot-spot, gps, bluetooth and mute.
Swipe left to close toggle menu. The battery info, the used memory and the next 3 events are always visible.
Tap on the red weather panel to see the weather details. Tap there again or swipe right on the weather details panel to close this panel.
Tap to the dark calendar panel to view the monthly calendar. You can see the actual month, actual day and the events day underlined with red. Swipe right on the monthly calendar panel to close. The monthly calendar will be featured always on the top layer.

I think in this case there will be no easy for you. The Zooper is not complicated, but the lightning launcher. I think the easiest way is to see some videos on youtube (keywords: "lightning launcher tutorial" and "zooper pro tutorial"). I'm sorry, but to write the all detailed steps would be very lengthy. If you have specific questions about the apps used, it can help you.

Zooper the easier thing. But, if you are interested this topic and like highly customizable launcher, it not will be a problem. If you have specific questions, I'll be happy to help you.

It looks brilliant as well. I have now downloaded LLX and started making everything to my liking in Zooper (will post screens when i'm done if you like). Could you just please tell me in what folders to put the files i have downloaded from you, as i am getting errors...

Which application showed the error?
This is the folders:
Copy Lightning Launcher eXtreme template to /sdcard/LightningLauncher/
Copy Zooper Pro templates to /sdcard/ZooperWidget/Templates
Copy toggle button files to /sdcard/Android/data/com.bartat.android.elixir.KEEP/iconpack/Green ****** This folder (named "Green") may be different, but you need to make the elixir widgets (I cant save the templates) and set this folder for use. But Elixir Witgets simple to use.

I have a HAM, which means a 720p resolution and there fore quite a few adjustments, but everything's dandy now !

I want to start a thread to see how everyone is setting up their in car home screens. looking at others home screens may help give ideas to other forum members whom are not satisfied with their current setup. I saw yours and I like how simple it is. Is there any way you can pm me your zw file for the home Screen.
I was also looking at digital car. It's a nice interface but this is Still in alpha, so some features do not function, the way I would like them to. .

I am working on a file that includes all of the apps and icons that people would generally use. I should start a thread seeing what apps people mostly use during the car installation. I like how simple it is, and it would be cool if i can find a way to scroll to a different setup with different apps.

It would be interesting to have certain "buttons" to show a popup, probably can do that via popup widget and zooper. it would be nice to able to press another buttkn and switch to a dedicated "homescreen, with apps for that particular function. For example, if I press map, it shows a window with waze and the other side a larger compass and a minutes til hom /work widget, or if I press music it takes me to a page that has my music app (musix) and on the side a visualizer of sorts Or a scrollable music library which will play a song if it is selected. And with the changing home screen the wallpaper changes along with it. It would even be cool to have something like aviate app from yahoo that changes with the time of day or even the weather. Just brainstorming.
I know there is a general thread on in car installs but it goes between 2 devices with different hardwares And different roms/options available But a dedicated thread of apps and widgets or an all around theme will probably be beneficial to all since most the time they are both interchangeable.

I wish i was better at coding and app development because i think it would be cool to implement such a theme or app like this, users could choose color schemes crop their own logos, choose what apps to run. And it would create an overlay for them.

My tablet was out of service...I somehow fried the motherboard with a faulty OTG cable. Thought I'd update on how the home screen looks. Still have not installed it into the car.

onepuff, what theme is that? I like it. cookie are those physical buttons at the bottom or screen buttons? I am starting to miss forward/back especially when I want to change a song and I don't have pandora in the forefront.

It's just a wallpaper with transparent Zooper widgets. Same guy that did the one in OP's post did the main design. I just played with it in photoshop. He had some icons for things. I just made text for everything to make it simpler for me to change.

Icon Packs

Does anyone have any suggestions on good looking icon packs? I'm using the Samsung Themes app to apply them but when sorting by "top" most of them look kinda cheesy. I'm not looking for anything crazy, just crisp, clean looking set of icons.

If you want ultimate customization, use NOVA Launcher and then you just have unlimited customization and icons aglore!!

I agree use NOVA launcher it's amazing and the amount of icon pa is out there will amaze you

I use Nova Launcher and the icon packs PixUI or Pixelful. If staying on the Samsung Launcher, try Pixelize or "Stock UI" which has round icons.

It's a very different / special designed icon pack.

I'm a fan of Nova launcher and just moved to Note 9. One thing that distract me is the font widget with nova launcher looks bigger than stock launcher. Is there any way to resize the widget fonts? thanks.

I use cobalt icon pack.

I'm not sure what you mean by widget fonts, but you can adjust the overall size of the widgets with nova Launcher settings. Set desktop grid numbers higher and it will then allow you to resize the widgets in more ways than the stock Nova settings. Also long pressing on widget will allow you to select padding which sometimes slightly changes the overall widget size. Last of all use the "sub-grid" option to allow even more adjustment sizes. Set desktop grid numbers higher and it will then allow you to resize the widgets in more ways than the stock Nova settings. Also long pressing on widget will allow you to select padding which sometimes slightly changes the overall widget size. Last of all use the "sub-grid" option to allow even more adjustment sizes. Resize the widget just change the widget composition instead of the font or widget size. It happen for all widget, not only samsung stock widget.

I use these. They're from the Samsung theme store. There is a ton. Find some paid ones that you really like then click on their developer's name and go to their page. You'll find free icon packs there that are really good. View attachment 4697355

I recommend Nova Launcher Prime as it looks like most others do as well, customization is practically only limited to what you can't figure out how to do yourself, Nova Rock's.
As for a nice icon pack I use Oxygen Icon Pack by Chris87. Here is some info...
