Does anybody know how i can get Nexus 6's launcher onto the Note 4. I install Google Now launcher and it gives me a 4x4 grid. But all the Nexus 6 vids show a 5x5 grid utilising the resolution properly. Is it some modified Google now launcher? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm not here to boast about anything Note or Nexus related. I just like that launcher and am just very curious. Thanks.
Did you long press on the screen and then modified your settings, if i remember correctly you can change it from there, another option its to use a launcher like Nova wich its my favorite, for some weird reason google now launcher drains my battery fast :-/

I know of XposedGEL I was looking thanks stefantumi. I was looking for a method that wouldn't require root though. Honestly I thought Google just made it dependent on the screen resolution really or if anything it's a different apk that could be easily extract-able and honestly I'm kind of surprised nobody else has brought this up yet I guess I'm just picky.
Nova launcher was my first thought too pikul, and I AM running it on a 5x5 grid. I'll try extracting the apk from the factory image of the nexus 6 and see if i can install that.

Hi,
Nexus S, as you all know, has the pure gingerbread OS or the stock Launcher. The dock has those two green icons (Phone and Browser).
Is there a way to change those two? I'd like to use the stock Launcher but I really wanted to change those two icons.
thanks!
dont think there is anything like that as far as i know. try launcher pro and make it look as stock as possible with different shortcuts. lots of features in there u might like....

hi. thanks
i was using launcher pro, then switched now to Go launcher.
im after the speed and snappiness of the stock launcher actually. although both launchers i used above are fast, one eats battery juice quick. the other one a bit jumpy/lagging at times.
the stock launcher is fluid even when live wallpaper is active. I read somewhere that it is snappy because the launcher uses graphics accelerator or the graphics engin (or something) that's why its crisp even when opening the app drawer, the zoom/fade animation of the icons are smooth. i compared it with 3rd party launchers.
its just those two unchangeable icons that bothers me (and inability to add/remove home screens). though i can live with it, i guess.
thanks again!
You have to decompile SystemUI.apk, then change the images and after that compile it again.
To do this you need apktools, you can google it.
Hope it helped

I assume it needs my phone to be rooted?
Might seem like a stupid question but I've never owned an Android and I got a Nexus 4 on the way
I've seen people making complicated wallpapers in the shape of the + sign to accommodate for scrolling or something like that, but I really have no idea if that even applies to the Nexus 4.
All of that out of the way, what would be the ideal dimensions to make a Nexus 4 Wallpaper at?
1536x1280

Depends on the launcher you use. With the stock launcher, the wallpaper size is 1436x1196. With Nova, the size is 1536x1280. I don't know about the other launchers.

Pretty much since that's the resolution of the screen if you're using the Google launcher. It's largely depended on the launcher you are using.
There are extra home screens on the NExus 4. There are 5 and i only use 2 of them, how do i get rid of the extras? Please don't say use nova laucher, it's crap and a clusterf*ck

Just take all the items off that home-screen and it should vanish...
Its a question best asked in the Nexus 4 forum. Not here.

what he described is default on the new google experience launcher, its from android 4.4. google install google experience launcher, youll find it. you can install the google experience launcher on earlier versions too. on the default launcher before this one, you cant remove screens, unless youre using some kind of mod.
I didn't realize he was talking about the N4. If you have an empty home-screen you want to remove try putting something on it and then delete that item. I had an issue on the N5 where an extra one wouldn't go away for me but doing this resolved the problem.

AFAIK only the N5 got the Google Experience Launcher. All other Nexi are still using the old one.
You can't get rid of the empty screens. Either fill them up, or change launchers to one that supports the removal of screens
Try Nova or Apex launcher, both are pretty popular. Or just wait for 4.4 to come to the nexus 4 with the new GEL.

Uhh you should be able to use the GEL on any 4.1+ rom.

Just wonderering if anyone is using the Google Experience launcher? Looks really good on the note almost feels like a Nexus experience. Also it responds to the OK google command on the home screen. Always listening which I thought was only a feature on the Nexus 5 / Motorola?
I hate touchwiz and it was one of the main reasons I was hesitant about buying the note. Now I have the best of both world, best tablet and nexus like experience. The Spen etc still work perfectly. Worth giving it a try..

I used it but ended up back on nova as i am comfortable with it and love the endless customizing.
I'm using it. Wont go back to TW anymore. I wish that there would be option to make folders in application list.

I was using Nova previously. Agree Nova is also superb. I have moved over to google experience as I have a nexus phone and like the fact basically consistent. I have been using android devices for years now but only used Nova a few months ago. Really impressive how it changes the feel / look of the tablet.
Googles launcher is free of course. I got the paid version of Nova...

When I launch it the portrait view is the only one available and I don't know how to access the launcher settings
Thanks in advance ?
Hello guys,
I'm coming in from the Note Pro side and wanted to reflect the OP comments. The launcher is smooth as butter and as stated it's as though the GNL was made for the Galaxy Note lineup. I've noticed all S Pen functionalities are fully intact. The best of both worlds...multi Window SPen features with a PURE Google experience!!!

For me it is portrait when tab is horizontal, and vertical when held normally.
As you can see in this picture:

Have you turned off screen rotation by mistake?
Just access the normal Samsung setting screen (by tugging the top of the screen down with your finger) and it is the 4th option from the left. Make sure it is selected... Only thing I can. Think of. Bet you have unselected it by mistake.

Yes, if you put the icons on the bottom row, then it is a dock and doesn't move as you swipe between screens.
I've got the paid Nova Launcher as well. I've stuck with it on my S3, but I haven't gone back on the tablet yet. On the S3, I thought the icons were too big and there is zero customization. However, I've enjoyed the Google Now Launcher on the tablet more so than I thought I would.
If there was a Google Now widget that is always listening that I could use with Nova, I would go back. Heck, I might still go back after the novelty of "Ok Google" wears off.
I finally did it......GREAT LAUNCHER!!!
I swear I searched and didn't see any thread on this but in sure I missed it and I will be yelled at by someone on the forum.
Has anyone been using a launcher such as the nova prime with the 6p? Any issues? Notice any slow down or battery drain?
I always used nova prime or other launchers but I've been using the stock launcher on the 6p since it is my first pure Android phone. I love the phone as is but there are a few things I miss about running custom launchers.
Anyone have input on this?

Nova runs great on the N6P. many here are using it. try it.
I use Nova Prime and no issues whatsoever
I have a tough time moving from Nova because of my home screen icon organization. I have about 6 screens all laid out exactly how I want them and can't find any way to replicate when I switch launchers
I'm running NovaPrime on my 6P - runs great.
I heard there was an issue with double tap to sleep with Greenify + Nova Prime where it doesn't allow imprint to work.

That is my exact issue. I have become so set on my home screen organization after years of keeping it a certain way I am having trouble using stock android now because it won't let me put everything exactly where I want it.
Ok I think i'm going to install Nova and ditch stock. It was fun for a week but time to move on.
Anyone know if Nova will remove the persistent navigation buttons on the bottom of the screen?
No they are still at tb3 bottom
Im gonna try Nova prime myself
I'm always surprised when I read that someone took longer than 5 minutes to install a better launcher.
