Greetings XDA Users!
I have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 (i337) on Android 4.4.4. How can I unlock the device's boot loader and root it?

Will the method from the link above both unlock the bootloader and root my phone?
You can never unlock the boot loader. Using the method you posted will allow you to root the phone though.

I'm new and I just got my very first android device, a Nexus 4 bought straight from Google Play and it is unlocked. Does that mean my bootloader is already unlocked or should I still unlock it when I root it?
I'm following the Root Guide stickied in this forum and it tells me to unlock the bootloader first with ADB.
Also, if I want to unlock the bootloader of another Android device like a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 (Android 2.3), can I reapply this process or do different phones have different ways of unlocking the bootloader (not root)?

The bootloader is not unlocked yet and by the way to unlock the bootloader you use fastboot, not adb
And different phones have different methods to unlock, but I guess on Samsung devices it is nearly the same as on nexus devices. But better check that out in the other phone's forums
And I'd advise you to do a lot of reading about all of this stuff and get more basic information about android and all rooting/custom rom/kernel related stuff before playing around with the phone :good:

Hi,
I just got Galaxy S5 900F locked to vodafone uk. I found a tutorial called UNLOCK, flash and root your s5 4.4.2. It was actually comming from this website. I rooted it but it is still locked. I think rooting didn't really unlock my phone(as tutorial said) as it wants me to type the sim code in. Is there any way to unlock it free? If it isn't whats the cheappest way? Thanks
Hi guys,
Can someone point me towards a guide for unlocking my bootloader? I have rooted 5.0 and it's still stock but the bootloader is locked. I heard there was an unlock method now but I'm having trouble finding it.
Thanks!

Hi guys, i hav been searching the web on how to unlock the gs5 bootloader but have no luck.
I want to root the phone but i can't root it until the bootloader is unlocked and apparently i can't find software/tool to unlock the bootloader.
Somebody plz show me a way to unlock the bootloader. My phone is Samsung Galaxy S5 G900W8 running android 6.0.1 build dpd3.
Thanks
Ok, so I'm technically a new user on XDA although it's not the first time I've read through things here and been relatively successful with rooting and flashing different ROMs. I made an account recently because just reading is no longer helping me
Anyway, I'm trying to unlock the bootloader on the Galaxy S5 G900F model. I've been able to install Philz Touch Recovery and gotten root access, but I still can't flash a ROM because the bootloader is locked. I can't seem to find a method, specifically for G900F, but I've tried several methods already including the following:
[GUIDE] Unlocking the Galaxys S5 Bootloader … | Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 5
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...t/rd-unlocking-galaxys-s5-bootloader-t3337909
- All 4 methods don't work which isn't surprising since this is for G900V, the Verizon one.

- Same problem as above, it's for G900V
Twrp, Root And Bootloader Unlock For Samsung Galaxy S5 - Droid School

- This one just frustrated me because I knew the fastboot method didn't work on Samsung phones, but I tried it anyway.
I've also tried using the CF-AutoRoot flashed through Odin, but that ended up failing too.
If anybody can point me in the right direction or something, it would be very much appreciated.
G900F is int'l, so its bootloader is unlocked from the factory. G900V, the verizon model has a locked bootloader. Decide if you have a G900F or G900V.
