Has anyone else had this problem. I was wanting to update software but my computer wont recognize the tablet. Kies just sits and spins.
I even tried restoring tablet to factory default and uninstalled reinstalled kies. Anyone? Thanks!
Try a different USB port.

when I plug the 8013 into a USB port I get an unknown device error.
I tried to update the driver (pointing to the SAMSUNG driver I installed) and I get a correct driver already installed message.

ok here we go again.
THIS Has been repeated over and over.
WITH Tablet plugged in go into device manger . click on the device with the yellow mark and uninstall it .Be sure to tick the check box to uninstall drivers if you have the option
unplug table and reboot.
Uninstall Kies and reboot computer ..
DO NOT CONNECT THE TABLET BACK TO COMPUTER..
Do google search for and install usbdview..
Just unzip it and run it
usbview.. open it and REMOVE ALL USB Adapters
RE DOWNLOAD KIES 2.6 I THINK THE OLDER Version for 4.1 android . new VERSION will not work
Run kies and let it update
Exit kies
Reboot computer
Run kies and let it check and d/load updates again if it needs to.
Plug in your TABLET .
If you Still have ISSUES. then you need to add at after running usbview Follow the procedure for installing un certified drivers for windows 7 . Search the internet for exact instructions for your machine. Only applies to uufi bios.
Good Luck . The above procedure works for any Driver install issue for Windows and has worked for years.... OF Course if there is no other problems . The issue is windows registeries for usb devices do NOT EVER Get purged .

Kudos to Bonnie
Followed instructions and managed to connect 8013. Unfortunately, the rumors that there was an update to KIT KAT available were the result of
a misunderstanding. Still nice to know I can connect via KIES if need be.
The process is a bit scarey. I had some problems getting my bluetooth mouse back and my USB DAC audio.
Thanks again.

I might should have mentioned that sometimes after usbdview you could have to re install other usb devices. Its rare.. If you know exactly what your dac uses you can always NOT Uninstall it. But if you go that route and the instructions fail. your not really trouble shooting without taking all usb devices out .. As far as the bluetooth.. i am guessing you have a usb bluetooth dongle? or internal bluetooth to usb of some kind..
Glad its working for you now.. my Instructions are not always well written. I just know in my head how to do things. not so great at explaining.. OH My windows training was Direct from Microsoft online
just try to connect your note to usb port that behind of your CPU

hey guys,
I don't know if this still a problem with people. but I'm on win7 64bit and I can't seem to connect my nexus s, to my computer. I always have to upload from computer to dropbox then download the file from DB on my phone... usb plug doesn't work. I tried the same cable with my wifes Samsung vibrant and it recognizes it, but when i plug in my nexus s the debug icon shows up on my phones status bar for like 1 second and disappears. then window on my compter says "USB Device Not Recognized"
need help please.
What does it say in device manager (in windows)? Maybe the driver is wrong...
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
do u have a right drivers installed
have a look here and check Google USB Driver
I'm having the same problem. I have tried both my computers and multiple cables but I continue to get the error. When I try to update the drivers or reinstall them Windows says the drivers are up to date. I've tried every USB port on both computers as well.
I even took the phone into a repair place to see if perhaps the USB port on the phone was malfunctioning and they couldn't find anything wrong with it.

Try installing pdanet, I had a similar issue when I rooted my ns and installing the pdanet drivers solved the problem.

I've been having the problem also and none of the fixes worked. Not even PDA net. You'd think that the more people have this problem so one would have found a real fix by now.

I can't get the PDAnet drivers to install - during the installation process, my phone has to plugged in, which of course the installation program can't see.
Weird thing is if I remove the battery and then plug the usb in and start the phone, the drivers show up in the device manager but they always disappear before I can unlock the phone - appears the USB connection on my Nexus S is broken...can;t think of anything else.
I was using Wug's nexus root toolkit last week, then my laptop got broken and now i have to use my friends' laptop. I don't know why but when i plug my N7 with Developer option ON and USB debugging ON. N7 root toolkit can't find my devices, it said that there is no adb interface driver, i checked "device manager" but there is only "Nexus 7" in portable devices, nothing more, no unregconized drivers. What should i do now, i want to get back to my stock rom and update to 4.1.2 but find it impossible.
i installed the driver from Wug's and reboot already but it didn't works.

Hmm, I've tried everything too. Every suggested driver, every uninstall and reboot, every workaround and fix, and on two different laptops. I suspect that this simply just doesn't work all the time.
I just got my S4 and I wanted to connect to Kies via a usb cable at work, no wifi available. So I installed KIES and connected it and I am getting the dreaded " Reconnect device in Samsung Kies (PC Mode)" and it tells me to disable usb debugging. I have verififed that PC debugging is off and reinstalled Kies but still I get the same message. My usb mode is MTP... Any suggestions? I have tried different usb ports as well with no luck. Is anyone using Kies?

Thanks, the device currently comes up as a SAMSUNG SGH l537 I tried running the mini kies setup and the driver installation which oddly failed. Would you be able to give me the exact driver that yours is using. I cracked open that installer and the drivers are all there I should be able to force it to the right one.

only the first day i bought my gti 9505 lte i updated my device via kies. after i rooted my s4, i never use kies.
After connecting my device the first time to my laptop, kies recognized my phone automaticly.
If there is an update for Kies, the program should recognize your device and install the right drivers.
Kies is only installed on my laptop for sync my wife's galaxy note 2. Her phone runs stock 4.1.2.
So normally must kies install the right drivers.Even for your device.
Regards

I think having a 64bit OS in win7 might be part of the issue as well. I probably don't need kies at all but I thought it would be nice to add contacts via outlook. My contacts are all sorts of hosed up, I exported them to a csv from my atrix and imported them into outlook. The next step was to import them with Kies which I thought would be a no brainer. oh well, hopefully the kies wifi will work when i get home.

Still no luck, unfortunatly at work windows update is blocked so that is not an option here as far as the driver update.
Hi .
does anyone know other drivers i can use for the i9505 device?
The drivers installed from keis do not work under Recovery mode from TWRP .
When i connect my device to my windows 8 machine, on device manager it complains that it cannot find the drivers for the phone yet when the device is booted into a working rom of any kind, it detects it?
Thanks in advance
Google, Samsung usb drivers.

Did you kill or uninstall Kies? If so, try a different cable.
Might be Windows 8 ( wouldn't be surprised ) try running kies in Win7 or XP mode etc? Have you allowed USB debugging?
i've tried a different cable and even a different computer all together where i installed win7 on that laptop only a week ago so still fresh. im about to try it on my imac .
If this doesnt work then surely the drivers in question are not correct!
will find the mac drivers

you can not use kies to flash or restore firmware on galaxy y - it is not supported and kies is just not needed
if you have installed the usb drivers from the link in my thread (in compatibility mode if on windows 8/8.1) - are using a working usb cable rear usb ports on pc and correct split firmware from my thread it will work
unless you have a faulty usb port/cable it will be due to user error

Try to use your cable connected from your pc and your phone again. If the same problem happened, try to connect your phone using that cable to another pc. BUT if that phone is not recognized, I think the problem is in the cable. Try to buy another one, and if same thing happened, the problem is in the usb port of your phone.
