I have T-Mobile note 4, and I can't seem to get into twrp by just pressing the up button
Power and home, nothing happens.
When I run busybox, script recover it goes into trwp.
Then is says android forced, something like that and it
Goes into twrp. Menu.
How can I get twrp. To work with my 3 buttons when my phone is off??

Im trying to flash a new ROM but cannot seem to enter recovery mode:
I had revolver 3.6 and wanted to upgrade to the latest, so I held down power and selected recovery, now its in some type of rebooting cycle where it tries to boot up with the "Eee Pad" in the center and the "ASUS/NVidia" at the bottom, this stays on for about 3 secs then it appears to power off and the cycle starts again.
Holding down just the power button seems to do nothing, but if I hold power+volUP for a few seconds it seems to make it power off for good. From this powered down state, pwr or pwr+volUP does nothing. From this powered down state pwr+volDown brings up the boot screen + the small white letters in the upper right saying to hit volUp within 5 secs to enter RCK but if you do this then you get the reboot loop all over. If you let it sit there Itll allow you to either coldboot or eraseuserdata+cold boot. This allows the tablet to boot up normally.
But I just can never seem to boot to recovery. I have revolver parts and the reboot2recovery and the recoveryinstaller.apk all installed. What am I missing?
What about cwm? Sounds like you still on stock recovery.
How did you root? And how did you flash recovery? Were you ever able to get into recovery?
My gut tells me your recovery isn't compatible with your bootloader and/or boot.img.
Thanks for the help. I don't think i loaded cwwm when i originnally rooted. I reded rooting and it put cwm5 on.
Before I begin I must say I've never used an android device in my life so this is all completely new to me. The only experience I've had was rooting and installing CM or something similar to an iphone 3gs a few years ago.
I'm aware a lot of people are having problems with their nexus 7 hanging at the animated rainbow-colored X screen. I've seen the suggestion to hold power and vol up/down to get to the restore factory default settings - but that doesn't show. Mine just shuts off. I've tried going to the bootloader screen via power+vol up/down while the machine was off but nothing ever happens. The nexus just stays powered off. Also, if I hold power while it's hanging on the rainbow X, nothing happens - it doesnt even shut off. In order to turn it off I have to hold power+vol up/down.
I have not rooted or installed any ROMs on this android yet. But I do want to. I am curious if I can somehow root and flash my nexus.
If someone can point me in the right direction on how to start this from a basically dead nexus 7, please enlighten me. I've read through a few instructional threads so far but they all start off with the nexus 7 being able to fully start.
Please advise.
Thanks!

Thanks for the link. I tried entering safe mode, didn't work
- Press/Hold Power button until Google screen shows up, RELEASE Power button
- Press/Hold VolDn until Android has booted up
The device doesn't even boot up in safe mode. Still hangs on the rainbow x.
Got into bootloader using these instructions while n7 off:
- Power+VolUp while booting to enter recovery
- You can release buttons after you see Google on screen
selected Recovery.
It turned off then on, showed the Google screen, and now shoes an android fallen over with "No command." shown underneath and am continuing..
edit: wiped and restarted. can now finally root. thanks bud.
Here's my problem.
I can't get into recovery by pressing the power up, home, power buttons. It says it's 'entering recovery', but then it gives another 'buzz' (like when the phone starts), and just reboots normally.
I used to be able to get into recovery with ROMManager, by selecting the 'boot into recovery'. Then I just got into my CWM and could do whatever I wanted. Now I can't do that anymore, probably because my device is not rooted atm (got CM12 on it though). I wanted to root it, but I can't get into recovery.
I already tried flashing TWRP with Odin (download mode does work), but that doesn't work either. I obviously searched google and XDA for the problem, and I saw suggestions for other phones, like updating the bootloader. But I can't find any information or files for updating the bootloader.

Reboots trying to go custom recovery are normal sometimes.
Lil guide for enter custom recovery (TWRP):
1. Power off your device completely.
2. Press and hold Volume Up, Home and Power buttons simultaneously.
3. Release only the Power button when the logo of Samsung in white appears (you will see little letters in blue and red on the top left of the screen).
4. You will see the blue logo of TWRP (pic attached) then and you can release all buttons and start to navigate for the custom recovery.

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think you understood my question. I know how to get into recovery when it all works. I've done it many times before. The problem is that it shuts down while booting into recovery, and then just reboots normally.
I only installed TWRP because CWM wouldn't work, but TWRP doesn't either. So I guess it has to do with how the device boots into recovery, regardless of what the recovery is.
Anyone? I kinda want to flash another ROM, but I'm unable to right now.

I don't think that's the problem. I have 0 issues with the power button. Also, when I try to boot into recovery, it actually says it's 'starting recovery'. Then it stops with a buzz and reboots.

Hi guys,
My Yotaphone 2 is currently stuck in a boot loop (shows android logo, then black screen, repeat) after a software update. I can get to the 'Downloading...' screen via power + vol. key and so have tried adb/fastboot as suggested in other similar threads. ADB can't see the device, which I guess is probably normal since it isn't booted up, but fastboot seemingly can. I've tried flashing the TWRP recovery which seems to go through fine on the PC end but doesn't seem to do anything at all on the phone itself. Calling a fastboot reboot gets the phone back to the boot loop and power + vol. goes back to the 'Downloading...' screen.
I've also tried using the Yotaphone flashing tool to flash a full android image - this also looked like everything was operating OK on the PC end but didn't seem to change anything on the phone once the process was complete.
Is there anything I'm missing or anything else I can try? Any help/ideas much appreciated!
Cheers.

Do you have any idea what caused the bootloop? (maybe installing xposed or something?)
When you keep vol-up pressed at (not after) the moment the phone vibrates during power on, you will end up in TWRP recovery. There you can at least wipe->factory reset. Don't do this if you have stuff on your phone you'd like to keep though. (you can try to rescue/backup those by trying "adb pull <path_to_file>" when the phone is booted into TWRP)

It was caused by doing an OS update (wasn't rooted or modified), I've only since tried installing the TWRP recovery and using fastboot to flash an official image to fix the looping. Flashing TWRP appears to work according to flashboot but holding the volume up key at the vibrate on power on doesn't do anything sadly.

Maybe I should rephrase: the vol-up should already be pressed once the vibrate starts. For a timing-insensitive, fool-proof (no pun intended) way you can enable bootloader (like you did before: you get the Downloading... screen). Then keep vol-up and power pressed together, after 15 seconds the device reboots hard, keep both keys pressed until you see TWRP 'curtain' screen, then release.
Did you try to use the YotaFlasher Windows application to reinstall an official ROM and restore factory defaults? You can get it from here, also download a ROM for your region here.
Hi,
I'm in the process of rooting my G6 (870H) but I've been running in an issue which doesn't seem to happen to other users.
I have followed all the steps (unlocking the bootloader etc), but when I flash the twrp img, reboot (I've tried numerous times both with fastboot reboot and simply by holding the PWR + VOL- ) and then select 2 times Yes when I run into the factory reset screen it shows me the TWRP loading screen (which I guess is normal ) but instead of going into the twrp options afterwards, the phone simply boots as it usually would.
Does anyone know anything about this issue ? I couldn't find any information about it.
I had this happen, make sure after the screen goes black after booting into twrp, leave it alone. So from bootloader Volume + Power then when LG logo pops up stop pressing power but quickly hold it down again. Then when the screen changes don't press anything until booted into twrp.
If this doesn't work, I remember when I first ran into a soft bricked device. It refused to boot into twrp even though I had rooted it. Just keep trying and one time you'll get lucky, I'm not sure why this happens, but it's just part of life, so keep at it and maybe try a different twrp.
