[A] For all of you, ending up in "bootloop" updating Android - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I finally managed to install Android 5.0 Lollipop on my Nexus 4.
First I flashed it using the factory images and fastboot and it was working fine, but after one week the sensors did not work anymore. CPU-Z showed no avalaible sensors. So I tried to reflash system.img and then the misery started. I was not able to boot, having the 4 spinning dots for hours, even over night (~8h). I tried every combination one could think of, e.g. installing the factory image, sideloading the OTA, installing flashable zips of the stock rom, I also tried custom roms and formated and also erased every partition using "fastboot erase ... or fastboot format ...". Literally nothing worked except installing the Android 4.4.4 factory image. So I ended up having a nandroid of Android 4 and from time to time installing Android 5 which did never work.
Today I was using the file manager in the TWRP custom recovery and I thought Android 5 not booting may be due to the encryption I had, when Lollipop was running well, the next thought was to try to reset the phone to a "real" factory state, because factory reset in recovery may format /system and /cache etc but the rest of the root file system is still present.
After some search I found this tutorial and I am happy to say that it worked and I rebooted my phone twice without having a "bootloop".
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/tutorial-how-to-unbrick-n4-t2347060
I did it on a Windows 7 laptop and followed the tutorial closely except I did not flash the flashfactory.zip he mentions (the links are down anyways), but I flashed the Android 5 factory image in fastboot. I have a 8GB Nexus, so I did not have to do the part for the Nexus 16GB.
I hope I can help some of you who tried to install Android 5.0 and ended up like me. First thing to try is always a factory reset, but if it does not work like in my case, this tutorial may help. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask!

Help! Softbricked N7, no OS installed

Did something very silly when trying to convert to F2FS and flash a new ROM. I managed to root my N7 and was following instructions here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2678140
to convert to F2FS. Only problem was, I was having a lot of trouble getting my computer to connect reliably. Sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. Anyway, I managed to push the FormatPartitions.zip and flashed it in TWRP. Stupidly, I figured I would flash the partitions zip first then push and flash the ROM and Gapps. Dumb mistake. Thinking now, I realise that I have converted the file system to F2FS without a ROM to work on it.
I can boot to either TWRP or fastboot mode, but thats about it. I have found plenty of information stating that to overcome this, I just need to flash back to stock, but the thing is, neither Windows or Wugs toolkit recognises that I have the Nexus connected. So I'm unable to push any files to my N7 to get around this.
When I'm in TWRP and I reboot, it says No OS installed. I attempted to change the file system back to EXT4 in TWRP, but that didn't seem to do anything.
Have I stuffed it compeltely? If not, how do I fix it?
Sorry about my earlier freakout. I managed to get it sorted. As is nearly always the case, it just took patience and a lot of reading.
It seems to be booting into my custom ROM (SlimKat) now, although it is taking a very long time. I'll be patient this time, hopefully all is well.

Help me,, Cannot boot in to recovery

Please help needed!!
I'm stuck here for 3 days
Ok I'm going to tell everything I did,,
My Gionee E7 is indian version.
First I rooted my phone with kingo Root.
Than I flashed CWM chinese version.
I upgraded my system to kitkat and changed the recovery to stock.
I used it for a week than some how my music player and gallery were corrupted.
I don't have any rom so I download one but it was in chinese, flashed it to my gionee. than after rooting,,
I flashed the CWM, same I flashed weeks ago
Here my problem started :crying:
The CWM is not starting. I used recoery tool to boot into recovery after boot up it shows black screen. I used every method holding Vol+ and power button but the same result.
than I tired to get back to my stock recovery but it does the same.
flashed many times both recoveries but didn't worked.
I searched a lot and find a TWRP. I flashed it and wow it worked Finally I can boot into recoery mode.
Now I find the Nandroid backup of indian version. I made it a zip and flashed it through twrp.
My phone is back to indian version but its slow, not too much but its slow; camera, gallery and other apps take some time to open. I can't make or rcv phone calls. Now what i did is download the update form System update.
Now i got kitkat rom.zip but twrp failed to install it.
Some one on the internet was saying that its the problem with my Kernel. I have the latest kernel so CWM won't work cuz it uses old kernel and display drivers.
My
android version is 4.2.2
Kernel version is 3.4.0-svn2155
I also got TWRP for lolipop,
and I patched binary_update in my kitkat rom too but TWRP can't flash it
Thats my whooooolllleeeee story. "

Hello my friend, please help me.
I am trying to flash stock inidan rom 4.2 but.. I installed all CWM for E7 found on the internet and I am getting black screen. I managed to Install TWRP but TWRP cannot flash the rom that I need to flash. I flashed a chinese 4.2 but is piece of garbage..
gngc-download-tool said that the com port is closed.
I have windows 64 is this the problem causing gngc not working?
No its not, it is working on 64bit windows very well.
In TWRP factory reset and format system and data, than install
Chinese 4.2 ROM. After that boot it and try it again.
It should work!

Help
I just rooted my gionee elife e7. Flashed the chinese recovery which seemed to be the only one which would be compatible. But, while changing a few setting using pimp my rom, the software just stopped working. Errors keep showing up on the screen - "system.ui is not working", "android app is not working", I cannot even go the settings because "settings is not working". Third party apps still seem to work, so, whatsap and stuff continue to function. Doing a factory reset or flashing firmware again seem to be the only viable option.
But, when I try to load up the bootloader using the power and volume keys, it gets stuck on the screen showing the gionee logo and it reads 'fastboot mode' in the bottom left hand side corner. So,
a. can you offer any advice which may be useful ?
b. can you share the link from where you got a TWRP recovery which will work on the Elife ?
c. do you have any idea what exactly went wrong here ?
Any help you can provide will be appreciated because, it's my mausi's phone and I will have a very tough time explaining what really went down here.
Regards,

COS13 rooting failed, stuck in boot loop

Hi all,
I got a brand new Wileyfox Storm which I liked to have rooted. When I booted the phone I got several updates which I installed first.
After updating I followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wileyfox-storm/general/root-wileyfox-storm-t3250992
And also with a little bit help from the Cyanogen wiki: https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_kipper
Reason I chose for this method is because I tried the recommended WinDroid Toolkit before but the server doesn't has the required files anymore so that program is useless for the Wileyfox Storm.
I'm running Cyanogen Os version 13.1.2-ZNH2KAS3NA-kipper btw (offical FOTA).
When I followed Bobslesbricoleurs tutorial to unlock the bootloader I got a message but not one I expected. It said:
<bootloader> Device already : unlocked !
OKAY [ 0.000s]
finished. total time : 0.000s
Does this mean I got my Wileyfox Storm with bootloader already unlocked? That how I read it...
I continued to start rooting it, but not before testing if I could still boot but everything was fine.
I tried to flash the attached custom recovery I got OK and a 'remote: size too large' error. It didn't successful flashed the recovery.
I checked if everything still was ok and it was. I could boot and everything.
So I tried something different. I'm not new to flashing (I've had a Galaxy S2 for 5 years which was running on CM13) so I went to the Cyanogen site and downloaded the latest stable (snapshot) recovery for kipper which was cm-13.0-20160820-SNAPSHOT-ZNH5YAO0J4-kipper-recovery.img.
I tried to flash that recovery and it succeeded. I could still boot recovery and system... except that after booting system the ROM would replace the recovery back to stock.
I did some research on this but I couldn't find any helpful information about it for the Storm device. So I Googled it in general and read somewhere that COS had a developers toggle to disable 'updating recovery'.
This is probably where I made my mistake because I unchecked that update recovery toggle and reflashed the snapshot recovery that worked before.
I'm not very sure, I should have written this down, but if I remember correctly the system could still boot.
I didn't know how to flash the SuperSu-v2.46_signed.zip with fastboot, the tutorial didn't specify this and I'm used to flashing from recovery (fastboot is kinda new to me, although I have worked with adb commands before).
So I booted the rom, installed AirDroid to push the zip to my internal storage and I went back to the recovery.
I flashed the SuperSu-v2.46_signed.zip with the update option in the recovery.
And now the rom is in a boot loop.
I already tried a full factory reset but it's still boot looping.
I know that in the tutorial topic FluffyTwit has had a similar problem, not sure if it's the same but it looks like it.
The given solution is "Flash stock boot.img from stock rom zip, reboot" to which he replied " flashed the whole .zip file because I saw a tutorial on some website...".
But at this stage I'm a bit afraid that I'll do it wrong again, as the instructions are either out-dated or they're just not 100% correct. Could someone help me out and/or confirm the exact steps I should do to get my device back up and running?
I'd rather keep the device stock without root than rooting it with risks of bricking. I have a feeling this device isn't as safe to rooting as I'm used to..
Thank you in advance.
Edit: I've found my solution and had to change something.
You can read it here starting from Edit 2.

Asus Zenfone 5 LTE (T00P - A500KL) - Help with soft brick, need .raw firmware

Hi, first post here so please be kind - I really need your help.
SITUATION:
I unlocked the bootloader using the tool provided under the utilities section of ASUS support page. Then, I successfully rooted my phone using one of many exploits contained in KingoRoot. Root Checker app said that root was ok, and I rebooted my phone. Something in the process caused my phone to soft brick, probably KingoRoot messed up the partition table. My phone is now stuck at Asus logo when trying to turn it on.
I can access recovery and fastboot. I also flashed TWRP recovery 2.8.5.0 (no success flashing newer versions) that is capable to put my phone in ADB sideload. I wiped cache, dalvik, data multiple times. Factory reset. Tried to update system using almost every firmware zip that ASUS support page lists (WW) through recovery and through ADB sideload unsuccessfully. Stock recovery is unable to access my SD card (since after the fatal reboot - unable to mount E: ecc, I tried three different cards), while the custom one is able to but gives me error when trying to run zip files. There are a plenty of details that I could give, but my conclusion after 24 hours of forum headaches is that the partition table is messed up.
I came across an utility called Asus Flash Tool that may fix my problem, but it only accepts .raw firmware files and I am unable to find one for my A500KL. There's a folder for it in an old rapidgator link but it's empty now, no luck contacting the original uploader (many others have the same problem). I read through every related thread here on XDA and on many other forums (even in Chinese and Russian), this is my last resort. There's anyone willing to share such .raw image? I read that it can be built out of a functional phone, can someone help me?

Noob Fix - Android 8.1, TWPR 3.2.1 doesnt boot into System

I bought 2nd hand phone for app testing. I went ahead to use TWRP for rooting purpose. To my dismay, Reboot --> System never works. Each time, the phone keeps going into Recovery mode which showed me TWRP console. I followed all instructions here, reddit and others like but in vain.
Finally, I just flashed into Android 6 factory image for Nexus 6P. Then I booted again to TWRP and installed Magisk. This worked.
Hope it helps someone.
PS. I dont need latest Andriod for my purpose.
Yap looks like something went wrong with your operating system because of TWRP.
Oh well at least everything works fine now.
Gosh, I sure hope this works for me. My bootloader is unlocked and I can get into my twrp recovery. Just need to find a stock image that will flash and boot. Stuck on the Google screen and don't want to be running on only 4 cores if I can help it. Tried Nexus OS but says it only works for angler and my device is "____." I guess it can't identify it. First I'll flash magisk, then the factory 8, 7, or 6 image if available. What's a good link to those images? Anyone ?
