Hey Chain's,
Saw your reply on the other Fugu root-boot thread and didn't want to hijack. I have not seen any new traffic on your original thread so I am not clear if your cf-root is still working on the 5.1 image without any ill affects. I am assuming it is based on an old bootloader? I also think all that the other OP did was take your method and added it to a script for an automated process. Thank you for all you have done for the Android community these past years. Your work has allowed us all to take back control.
You are a legend
Cheers

some issues
1.
Problem:
Code:
adb.exe root adb
adb.exe root adb
adb.exe shell mount -o remount,rw /system
fails for me when i run the original script as a whole. it says device not found and the rms and cps fail afterwards since it doesn't get root from the boot.img
Solution: I had to split the file in half right before this and run those commands manually before running the next half
2.
Problem: I get an error saying not enough space at the very end of running the second half of the file.
Solution: I had to reflash the stock image and run everything again
3.
Problem: it was a pain not being able to check if root worked after the original boot.img was loaded since I didn't put developer mode on in the very beginning
Solution: put developer mode on first, before anything

The only real complaint I have about the Aria is its low speaker volume, both for calls as well as media like music and videos. Is there any hack available to get the volume louder? I know meltus had a Audiohack mod for the G1, but its not compatible with 2.1 devices like the Aria. Does anyone know of any other mod we can use?
Go to Settings > Call and turn on Hearing aids. It will make the in call volume a little louder.
Aria Audio Hack
I've been disappointed by the low volume coming out of the speaker on the Aria so I began doing some testing with the Audio Hack meltus put together at androidaudiohacks.com. In the latest version there are three files (AudioFilter.csv, AudioPara4.csv, and AudioPreProcess.csv) that you are supposed to replace with the stock ones in /system/etc. When I try to adb push these files using for ex. adb push AudioFilter.csv /system/etc/AudioFilter.csv I get "failed to copy 'AudioFilter.csv' to '/etc/AudioFilter.csv': Directory not empty". This occurs even after adb remount. I also tried an adb shell session with similar results. Does anyone know how to replace files in the /system/etc or /etc directories? Or are there any other audio hacks working for 2.1 devices?
You will need to enable write permission to that directory as it is read only by default. Hope this helps.

How do I do that? I thought thats what adb remount did?
Merged with the thread you created last week for the same topic. Also moved it to General. Please take a moment to read the announcement I posted regarding the creation of duplicate threads.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
Mod: This is a development topic, not a general discussion. Thats why I created the thread in the development forum. Please let the users make these calls for themselves and move it back. The users are what this forum is all about, isnt it?

I thought you have to mount the system with
adb shell
mount /system
..and then you can read/write whatever you want and push and pull and rm and all that good stuff? I might be wrong, I'm still a noob
execute chmod o+w <directory>
ps. Dear Moderator, it's a strange subforum to be discussing changes to operating system files in "Aria General"
Posting or linking to the actual code changes you are trying to implement would maybe make this a legit dev thread.
As of now, it's a discussion of a mod, not a mod. Lots more could probably be moved from the dev area as well if the Aria forum is run like the others on XDA.
as far as how to implement; we don't have an engineering spl, so read write on an active system partition (phone up and running) is going to be unreliable at best - sometimes it works (when it really should not) and others it just doesn't.
We've had better luck modifying files on the system partition from adb within clockwork recovery after mounting /system under the partitions menu in clockwork.
Clockwork is really cool. If I were little piece of code, I'd want to be just like clockwork because it's just so damn sexy.
Thanks attn I'll give clockwork a shot. These 3 files are in two different places: /etc as well as /system/etc. Any idea why the etc directory seems to be redundant?

Okay, archlinux re-packed to new multirom installer format. Inside the installation package is tar.gz archive from and all modifications are done on the device after the archive is extracted (see post_install folder in the installer). This means you can update this package with unmodified tar.gz from archlinux website.
This installer does not contain any desktop enviroment, you have to use either USB-OTG keyboard or serial console (screen /dev/ttyACM0 115200 on linux). I recommend you use application wifi-menu to connect to wifi.

So, can I switch network adapter to monitor mode on my nexus 7 (2012, wifi only)? And if I can, how?

It seems I cannot post directly to the original thread, so I am doing this here...
For who wants to reuse their old Nexus 7 as a home web server, I have repacked the ArchLinux MultiROM image with the new (20150401) updated Arch Tegra release from h**p://os.archlinuxarm.org/os/tegra/ and built a Debian MultiROM Wheezy image using the same template (I personally like Debian more for an home web server). You can find the MultiROM packages here:
Debian Wheezy 20150401: h**ps://mega.co.nz/#!Nlcn0AwQ!D9TLnlG2iu15-pq1ascoWVVGUTN6AaNpsiXNX7eBNXk - (rename the package to 'debian_20150401.mrom', without the '.zip' . Username/password is: root/root)
ArchLinux 20150401: h**ps://mega.co.nz/#!skU0CBDA!6AtsTbLWxYQ5vSTUJN2hLOKX076DZDjMgSu9p4cfQ_c - (rename the package to 'archlinux_20150401.mrom', without the '.zip' . Username/password is: root/mer)
Both the images include a patched kernel to have display fully off when blanked (just run 'echo 1 > /sys/class/graphics/fb0/blank' to shut the display down and 'echo 0 > /sys/class/graphics/fb0/blank' to start it up again). No-backlight is I think a pre-requisite if you want to keep your nexus home server on 24/7. Images are shipped without graphical interface and are meant for advanced users (e.g. you know what SSH is...). To configure the wifi you will need an OTG cable and an usb keyboard and to follow the instructions below:
Debian Wheezy:
Code:
#for WPA, add the following text to the /etc/network/interfaces file, for WEP/Open/Other, see man interfaces, man wireless and /usr/share/doc/wireless-tools/README.Debian
cat << EOT >> /etc/network/interfaces
auto wlan0
iface wlan0 inet dhcp
wpa-ssid WIRELESS_NAME
wpa-psk WIRELESS_WPA_KEY
EOT
#connect to the wireless
ifup wlan0
#get the ip to connect via SSH
ifconfig
ArchLinux:
Code:
#Install wpa support libraries (you can find them in /root)
pacman -U libnl*.tar.gz wpa_supplicant*.tar.gz
#configure netctl
cd /etc/netctl
#use wireless-wpa for WPA2, wireless-wep for WEP, wireless-open for open wireless networks
cp examples/wireless-wpa ./
#edit the configuration file and insert your wireless network name and key
vi wireless-wpa
#enable the wireless at startup
netctl enable wireless-wpa
#connect to the wireless
netctl start wireless-wpa
#get the ip to connect via SSH
ifconfig

What went wrong?

You probably wiped /system before flashing the zip
This thread is meant to help share programs and older files that have gone missing or have dead links and to collect everything in one place. I came here a long time ago to ask a few questions, but now I would like to return the favor by organizing everything so owners of the VK810 don't have to run around looking for everything.
One of the most common files I see asked for is TWRP 2.7.0.1. I still have my old copy and have uploaded it to Android File Hosts. The link is located below at the very bottom. In that link, I also include a stock rom in case anyone wants to start over along with the tools to do so. Other TWRP versions are also included. I also include some other programs as well, but they are mostly meant to act as a backup in case other links go down. Just to clarify, they are not my own. I just want to make sure everyone gets what they need. If there is anything I forgot to give credit for, I will add it as I remember or let me know so I can properly give the credit.
I don't want to take credit for anything here. I just want to help people have an easy time with setting up their device, but I will give out credit where needed.
For people starting out, roirraW "edor" ehT has made an extensive tutorial for the VK810. His roms work with LTE if you need it.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-pad-83/general/vk810-4g-reliable-to-root-install-t3283027
Since his Android File Host page is still working and he is still very active, I won't archive any of his work. Get everything you need from his pages.
For anyone that wants to return to stock, ttn1185 has a very simple guide on return to root along with the stock rom, but the link to the guide doesn't seem to work.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-pad-83/general/vk810-verizon-lg-g-pad-8-3-to-stock-t2800857
To save time, I have included the guide I used and the link to the guide for returning to stock below. Credit goes to hyelton for creating it.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
Magendanz has been making new TWRP builds for the VK810. I included one of his older builds in my archive since it helped me out a lot.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-pad-83/general/vk810-twrp-3-1-1-0-unofficial-t3691551
One way I managed to install it was to flash my recovery to version 2.8.7.0, run the recovery, flash the image using TWRP, and then restart. There are easier methods, but I used this one since it doesn't rely on using ADB or setting it up if you don't have it already.
Drgravy originally had the important TWRP 2.7.0.1, but his link to it is dead. The instructions for it are still relevant.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2726707
For those that don't want to use ADB, you can copy the contents of the files to a folder you have easy access to, download/run a terminal emulator of your choice on the device, change directory to where the lok and flash files are, and use the cp command in place of push to copy the contents to the specified folders. Other than that, the other commands in the instructions are the same and can be followed verbatim. I believe it is easier or required to have root first to do this, so run Stump to root the device before doing this. It is also included in the link.
For people that do not need LTE, invisiblek has created a rom of Lineage 14.1 to work with the device. It is what I am currently using right now. While invisiblek gets credit for creating the rom, I give credit to thunderbolt128 for introducing it to me. He has simple instructions on how to install it and has a link to download the rom included in the post.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-pad-83/general/vk810-invisibleks-lineage-14-1-rom-t3806903
I flashed pico gapps (ARM) when I was flashing the rom in recovery, but use whichever gapps (or none) that you are comfortable with.
Finally, here is my page with all of the files I mentioned before.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=278786
Again, I do not take credit for anything in here other than organizing it. I do hope it helps you a lot like it did for me.
