This ROM is an official Moto G XT1069, was released to Brazilians in the SOAK testing program!
Everything works perfectly.
Features:
- Incredibly faster than version 4.4.4 KitKat.
- Very well fluid with fast touch response.
- Remember that all features (TV, Dual SIM, 3G, etc.) are OK.
after a big argument users reported that the best way to use this OTA is to install the ROM of stock XT1069 so I'm leaving the link to download the ROM
Because many of you were having problems installing the backup by TWRP 2.8 I'll post the TWRP 2.7 so do not use the TWRP 2.8 use the download link TWRP 2.7.1.1
Download:
Android 4.4.4 KitKat
Rom Stock XT1069 (Mega)
Rom Stock XT1069 (GoogleDrive)
Android 5.0 Lollipop
Backup Lollipop 5.0 TWRP
Android 5.0.1 Lollipop
Backup Lollipop 5.0.1 TWRP
Android 5.0.2 Lollipop
Backup Lollipop 5.0.2 TWRP
Required:
Unlocked Bootloader
TWRP 2.7.1.1
Procedure:
- download Backup Lollipop TWRP.zip file unzip and place where it is easier for you
- Now open the folder TWRP/BACKUP
you will see a folder named your serial number
- this folder you will rename to the serial number of yours device, you will find it in
settings - about phone - status
- After rename the folder, copy the folder TWRP to internal memory
-Wen finishing copy, reboot into recovery and restore the backup
*If you already have TWRP and have made a backup, just place the folder ''Lollipop'' inside yours serial number folder...
- it will come marked system and boot, leave like that and swipe to restore
- Now wait to finish, reboot and enjoy

I installed the XT1069 Firmware on my XT1068 and followed the guide above and works like a charm! Everything works 100% on XT1068 - using the XT1069 firmware and this guide is 100% good
I am afraid to install this on my XT1068, it's working fine, any slowdowns or performance issues?

Works on XT1068!!! Confirmed!!
Yes, you must wipe cache and dalvik before reboot! Without i got bootloop!
Lollipop on Kitkat Bootloader and kernel? Wow! Anyway, great work!
Can I flash this backup using PhilZ recovery and is it necessary to flash xt1069 stock firmware before flashing the above file, I am currently using androX on my XT1068....
Is there any way to flash lollipop without root?Or I must wait the official ota?

It is not necessary to flash XT1069! Flashing from XT1068 Stock works But for some funny reason it runs alot smoother on the XT1069 my experience from the last hour.....

I am Starting this with a very simple reason that the filefactory link for the Firmware which is the only link currently available right now is a crapy link. The download failed six times before i could finally download it. So After all the hassle I went through, I am uploading the firmware with a dropbox link and hence a lot more trustworthy.
I am changing to google docs and dev-host, hoping this link would survive a lot longer, and i'll be putting more mirrors soon.
4.4.4 is not Pre-installed on any Moto G, hence Restoring to stock is only possible via first falling back to 4.4.2 and then updating the system to 4.4.4.
LOLLIPOP is out. KITKAT is moved into Legacy SectionUPDATE: 4.4.4 is now available out-of-the box hence it is not mandatory anymore to revert back to 4.4.2 if somebody wants to restore Moto G to stock. Direct restore to 4.4.4 is possible All KitKat Roms are moved into Optional section. I still love kitkat and I am not ready to move to 5.0.2. I will wait for it to mature
UPDATE: 5.0.2 is now available out-of-the-box hence it is possible to revert back to it directly! Sorry, I have been little late in uploading because of my exams
Thread is little messy, I might organize a bit more.
When Can I Use This?:
1. Your phone is soft-bricked
2. Your phone is hard-bricked but goes to bootloader
3. You want to update your phone to 5.0.2 and OTA is not working.
4. You want to downgrade from 5.0.2 to 4.4.4 or 4.4.2
5. You just want a factory reset
6. You want to come back to ASIA Retails after wondering in GPE or GB firmware
Pre-Requisite:
Installed Motorola Drivers.
Instructions:
1. Download 5.0.2 firmware and Extract it to a folder (More Links and mirrors in Downloads section at the end of the post)
2. Download mfastboot-v2 and Extract it into the same folder
3. Reboot the phone into Bootloader
4. Step 4 can be done two ways Method 1 is manually typing commands and teaches you how a bit about android Method 2 is more automatic and easier
Method 1:Run Following commands from the Command Prompt after cd-ing to the folder, one by one
If you do not wish to lock bootloader skip 4.1 and 4.3
4.1
Code:
mfastboot.exe oem lock begin
4.2
Code:
mfastboot.exe flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot.exe flash motoboot motoboot.img
mfastboot.exe flash logo logo.bin
mfastboot.exe flash boot boot.img
mfastboot.exe flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
mfastboot.exe flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot.exe erase modemst1
mfastboot.exe erase modemst2
mfastboot.exe flash fsg fsg.mbn
mfastboot.exe erase cache
mfastboot.exe erase userdata
4.3
Code:
mfastboot.exe oem lock
4.4
Code:
mfastboot.exe reboot
OR
Method 2: Download Retail_AS.bat/Retail_AS+LockBootLoader.bat from Attachments, Extract it to the same folder and just run
5. And there you go! Phone is booting Lollipop

Remedy ::: Flashing Failed
Thanks @sw33ty4ppu for asking this question.
Critical Commands (Absolutely Necessary Commands, which if failed will hard brick)
Code:
mfastboot.exe flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot.exe flash motoboot motoboot.img
mfastboot.exe flash boot boot.img
Non-Critical (If these failed, It will still allow you to go to bootloader and start flashing again)
Code:
mfastboot.exe flash logo logo.bin
mfastboot.exe flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
mfastboot.exe flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot.exe erase modemst1
mfastboot.exe erase modemst2
mfastboot.exe flash fsg fsg.mbn
mfastboot.exe erase cache
mfastboot.exe erase userdata
First check which command gave you an error in flashing.
Any of the non-critical command fails to flash, You can start flashing again and hope it might work, you can also check if the downloaded files are proper or their extraction from zip is proper. You can ask for help here on XDA in Q&A section as well.
Any of the critical command fails to flash, it is absolutely necessary that you do not exit bootloader. Because when device is in bootloader mode, bootloader is loaded into RAM and is still the original copy, you can still take the phone which is already in bootloader mode to a friend's place and get the flashing done there. But if you reboot bootloader somehow(knowingly/unknowingly). Man, You're screwed. Morale of the story, don't turn off/ reboot your phone until correct flashing is performed.
This also is another reason that experienced users prefer to enter commands manually than rely on an automated .bat or .sh script.
OTA update instructions
There are two things necessary for OTA
1. Stock ROM (so you get notification)
2. Stock Recovery (so the update is automatically installed)
FAQ:: Does having root affect the OTA update? ANS:: No
FAQ:: Can I retain root after OTA? ANS:: No, root is lost
If you are looking for a Flashable Zip for stock ROM, Then you can go here by @Sk.D.
This version however is pre rooted and does not flash stock recovery!
I do not appreciate my Noob Friendly Instructions being copied! I really put hours into making it simple. Least I expect is a link to my thread
Anyone willing to mirror the link is welcome!

I think you can because the firmware would carry Motorola signature and hence shouldn't have problem installing it form mfastboot. The gb firmware should pass signature verification and get installed

Uh... You are missing one step, 5.0.2 firmware has 4 chunks of the system image
You are missing this step
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
that is the last chunk of the system image.
If you are going to provide a guide, please include all the steps. you will be held responsible.
bootloader
i have a query. i am currently on cm12 (XT 1033 stock 4.4.4) . (bootloader v.41.13)
i have not applied (flashed) any soak or official lollipop ota.
can i directly flash this image to get base stock 5.0.2 or do i need to apply official ota first?
will my bootloader version be directly upgraded via this fastboot flashing?

Uh... You are missing one step, 5.0.2 firmware has 4 chunks of the system image
You are missing this step
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
that is the last chunk of the system image.
If you are going to provide a guide, please include all the steps. you will be held responsible.

The locked bootloader only allows the firmware it was build for. Subsequent updates on a locked bootloader have to be done through signed OTA. It's inconvenient, but imagine the waves of inexperienced first time flashers flooding the official support-forum, because they flashed the wrong version. Just have a look at the dev-section for this device here at xda. It's unbelievable.

Many thanks, I will try a dirty-flash and report my feedback here
My device is already unlocked with root and recovery, so I should follow only points 4.2 and 4.4, right?
And a question: if I skip flashing the recovery in order to keep my custom recovery (TWRP), should it work?

If any help is required, feel free to drop a comment below!
Frequently Asked Questions
My bootloader version is 41.19. Is it safe to downgrade to 41.18?
Yes! Downgrading is possible! Only do so if you want to go back to Stock Moto Firmware.
If I did downgrade my bootloader to 41.18, will I have any problem updating my phone if there's a new OTA?
None.
Is this guide compatible with XT1033?
I have not tested for XT1033. So, please refrain until I get an update on this.
HELP! My screen is flickering in 4.4.4!
This is a common issue, due to having an updated kernel and bootloader. There's no fixes for this unless you upgrade to Lollipop. Just lock and unlock your phone to make it go away!

I haven't made the guide to work from 5.1 to 5.0.1 GPE. But if you want to do so, you'll need to downgrade to KitKat GPE 4.4.4 and then update via OTA to GPE 5.0.1. I honestly suggest you don't try this, unless someone else have tested this to work.
I am planing to flash 4.4.4 gpe then sideload 5.0.1 but i can't
I downloaded your links and apply your codes but not flash 4.4.4 sparse images
give an error invaild sparse image too many links
so I'm not try to flash directly 5.0.1 I try already 4.4.4

Hi! I have tested my methods again and I have not received any errors. If you have downloaded my links, you should not receive any errors. By the way, the 4.4.4 link I have provided is NOT GPE, it's Motorola 4.4.4 EU Retail.
Also, are you using normal fastboot.exe from Android-SDK or Motorola Fastboot (mfastboot.exe)?
What's the diference of Motorola fastboot and normal fastboot?
The google drive page, for motorola fastboot download you provide, said the files are infected by virus and i can't download it.. I am want to go back from 5.1 gpe to 5.0.2 stock. I am not sure I get the instruction right. I download the .zip and where i copy it? Then after reboot to bootloader i turn on cmd and type the code, or first i should go (in cmd) to a folder with mfastboot and the .zip file? I am sorry for maybe a noob questions. Thanks
EDIT: Well i did my reading, googling, downloading and shi*it, and i was able to successfully to convert my moto G to 4.0.2, so I do not need any assistance anymore. Thanks for the guide. ´))
Stuck in boot
Hi,
I followed your instruction to downgrade from 5.1 GPE to Stock 5.0.2.
All the commands were executed in fastboot and no errors received. But after reboot, i'm now stuck in bootloader unlocked warning screen.
Any Ideas on how to solve?
Regards,
Adithya
Update: Solved it by using mfastboot. I was using stock fastboot earlier. Thank you.
Excellent work! I was on 5.1 GPE and now i'm on 5.0.2 Brazil! Works great for me

Try to use Mfastboot, not fastboot. I had that problem before
i follow your instruction on how to back to 4.4.4 from 5.0.2 or 5.1 GPE. but i end up stuck on boot logo (motorola warning for unlocking bootloader).
maybe it's because i'm from 5.1 (4.19 bootloader) and want to go to 4.4.4 straight. or i do something wrong?
and for confirmation i use mfastboot and follow exactly your instruction

Have you tested it yet on xt1033? I am on converted xt1032 GPE 5.1 (original was 1033). Will the current guide work for me? My goal is to get dual sim 1033 5.02 back so that I can install cm12.1.
Anybody here used this guide to go back to dual sim XT1033 5.02 from converted 5.1 GPe (1032)?
Hi, first of all thanks for the guide. I was able to convert my 5.1 GPE to 4.4.4 EU. After that i deiced to go to stock and relock the bootloader. I was tring to use this guide >>> Commands were:
Code:
mfastboot oem lock begin
mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
mfastboot flash logo logo.bin
mfastboot flash boot boot.img
mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk1
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk2
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk3
mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot erase modemst1
mfastboot erase modemst2
mfastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
mfastboot erase cache
mfastboot oem lock
But I failed right in a second command where i got:
Code:
target max-sparse-size: 256MB
sending 'partition' (32 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.036s]
writing 'partition'...
(bootloader) Preflash validation failed
FAILED (remote failure)
finished. total time: 0.387s
After that I didn't proceed any further and reboot to system, still 4.4.4 EU. After time my firmware was punched with 5.0.2 update so I try update and i got error in installation. Luckily installation reboot phone to system and no harm was done. I don't what is the problem. I want to go to my stock (us retail) and wait to 5.1.
Image related, it's some info from bootloader, maybe it help...

* Use mfastboot and install 5.1 (as he mentioned, skip 4.1 and 4.3 to avoid relocking bootloader)
* After completing the process flash any custom kernel ( use this thread-> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/development/recovery-twrp-2-8-2-0-touch-recovery-t2980621 )
* Then flash supersu to get root access ( https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU )
