Good night everyone :good:
I have an idea who you want to use in conjunction with the (MALIVE BOOSTER)
the application (RAM EXPANDER) that works in our (i8200n).
I increased my ram to 2281MB..
What amazed me was knowing that our device has a partition of 300 MB to the memory ram.. (virtual memory)
the application can be found at 4shared and so search for (ROEHSOFT).
experience for you.

It may be posible, but to make any difference you need to have a sdcard class 10 or higher. Oderwise it is for no use .
It's just an swap memory it dosen't incress you ram. It like on os xp,7,8 when you can use the flash memory as a swap memory.
All you are doing is increasing the paging files which only gets used when your device run low on ram!
Hardware RAM is not a same like a swipe but the virtual paging give more capabilities.
It's true that you have to have a SD class min 10 and swap partition - in our phone 512 Mb for example.
by the way ...... RAM Expander works good.
Yes and true that does not change the RAM but my s3 mini gt-i8200n was a lot faster and no longer hangs in applications and don't need to clean the memory ram..
my memory card has 8 GB and I use 2 GB for swap..
How do I see the class of my memory card?
(don't forget to use the pirated version JUST TO TEST if it works then buy the original version).

Does it work with GT-i8190 too?

I saw that the Nexus has 512 megs of ram which on plenty to run apps. I like the X10 overall better for the 8mpx camera, but it has only 256 for ram. Is this gonna be an issues for the x10? My friend who has a Magic said that there is a way to increase the ram by doing virtua memory on the SD card...You think it will work well on the X10 1gb internal storage? How well does the apps run on SD card?
SW Swap is realllllllllllly slow compared to realy memory. I think 256mb will be plenty for running apps.

But the Hero has 288 and its older than the sony phone.
Legends say the andro OS itself uses up 150~ MB of ram for the Phone in question(Dream,Magic,Hero,Behold, etc)
There is a suggestion that the final hardware revision will actually have increased RAM and it's the prototypes which are still on 256MB. We can only wait and see how accurate this is though
Ram: 256MB
The Acer Liquid only has 256MB Ram and it is very fast - no issues at all.
It all depends on how many services you wanna run at the same time...
I run 25/30 services all the time and have no complains in my hero....though mem avayable is only 30mg....you can always keep killing services with advance task killer.Only 2 clicks in 3 seconds....as easy as that
Android automatically kills idle processes when ram usage shoots up anyway
Now if I increase the swap partition on memory by lets say 256 MB ,will I get better performance?
So what I am trying to say is bigger swap =better perf0ormance.
Bigger swap partions does not mean batter performance... at all!
Remember that your phones RAM can be read and written to faster than your SD card, the only reason we use swap is so we can get a bit extra space when we need it. What your really don't want is your phone off-loading tons of data to swap, as the read/write speed of your card will become the bottleneck, instead of the amount of storage available.
Stick with a small partition, no larger than 64MB and don't make the swappiness value too high either.
It's just there as an overflow, swap is in no way a substitute to real RAM
I am currently using cyanogens latest rom.
So I should have a 512mb extra with a 64mb swap?

Personally I don't use either, as I only have a class 2 sdcard and I don't see how anyone could need more than 300mb for apps, but whatever.
Ext is your choice and yeah, anything from 32mb to 64mb for swap (assuming swwap is automatically enabled, as I said I don't use it).
With class 10 mSD cards, is it technically possible to have RAM on SD?
Got it on win XP. That would help overcome the problem with JB running low on RAM.:victory:
I think you mean swap?
I'm sorry, I'm not into swap and such so I can't give you additional information, but hey, that is a head start .

Well u can use the app called swapper2.it will create a swap file on sdcard and give u more FREE ram

thanks guys, will give swapper a try.
Guys, you all got it wrong.
RAM is very fast RANDOM access memory. It means it got low latency and high bandwith, no SD card is close to that performance.
Also SD card class 6+ is all about sequential write/read.
RAM is all about random data access.
SWAP is a slow, temporary storage.
I have u8800, not pro. Using legorom gingerbread. device is only showing 345MB of ram. Doesn't it has 512 MB ram
Because a lot of memory RAM consumes system, graphics,...
Not free memory. Total RAM 345 MB.
The one used by graphics isn't shown in running application??
Edit:- Did some search and the reserved ram is not shown in running services. Thanx
Thats normal if you buy a 8gb flashdrive you only have 7.7gb and if you have a 250gb hdd you can only use 230gb

Yes, it always happen. In specification sheet of external hard disk or flash drive. 1GB is treated as 1000MB(mine does) not 1024MB(actual size)
My phone also have 512mb ram and I installed 32mb ram hack. My phone is LG Optimus 2x speed

The real reason is that graphics takes 128MB for itself. Then, the kernel needs some memory for the display itself (the pixels) and for video decoder/encoder.
So in total you will have about ~350MB of usable RAM for apps (including Android).
I'm only getting 1.58 GB and after the reboot my ram usage is like 1.31/1.58. I know it's 2GB device. So the question is why only 1.58gb can be used and how to increase it to 2.0gb? Anyone?
Cause probably the rest of the ram is used by core (not Android os) and hardware
Mine is 1.82 GB. Which is normal due to the conversion discrepancy between MB/GB.
1.82 or 1.72. Can't remember and don't want to look right now
The only way to increase it is by using swap. Either with an app like the rhoesoft ram expander (I think thats how it's wrote), or with a rom feature. But the ram you get with swap is not as fast as real ram. It will also degrade the life of the storage in that it is being stored. You can google more info about swap.
Are you sure you're reading it right? I usually have 1.2 GB ram free.
If you have 1.31 from 1.58 free then maybe you should consider uninstalling some apps. Cuz that's an unusual lot of ram usage

2000/1024 isn't 1.82. And I don't know why mine shows 1.5. That's a 300 missing. I'm on 4.4 tw.
It's just like HDD's. You buy one with 500 GB storage and when you set it up it shows only 480 GB or so.
And yes, samsung kinda ripped us off. 9 GB of internal storage is not 16! and 1.82 GB ram is not 2 GB! It's basically false advertisement what they are doing..
