Hi everyone, again.
I have attempted to root my phone which doesn't seem to have worked right, yet it says it has.
my phone when I go into the hard reset mode says it is rooted, so I have tripped LG's rootchecker, but I have absolutely no super user access, and I cannot install TWRP, when I type adb shell into cmd all that comes up is the $.
I do not know what to do and because I am too new I am forced to asking here, (not that it's a bad thing, just that I've already asked for a lot of support from the community here, which has been great by the way) I hope someone knows whats going on because it's confusing, I have ADB installed correctly, and I'm having some problems on that end as well, I am going to try installing it from a different computer now though, thanks everyone!
Maybe you're rooted but just haven't flashed Superuser yet?

Or start over. Restore to stock. Re root and install recovery with FLAsh it. its nearly one click. Worked flawlessly

When using adb, after typing adb shell type "su" and if you get # then you have root via adb; when I rooted my G2 I had temporary root for applications and permanent root with adb. It was weird, but once I flashed twrp it was fine.
When I type SU I get $, so I know I'm not rooted via ADB, and when I try to hard reset it keeps my pseudo root.
Also I don't know how to root with Flash it, and I've tried installing TWRP but it says that it failed, reason for which I'm assuming is because it doesn't have the proper root access.
ALL GOOD
To everyone voicing their help, I thank you very much!
I have everything in order and all is good, thank you once again!!!
What was the issue?

wiped everything in twrp. help please
I have an lg g2 and just did a dumb thing. I wiped my internal memory so all of the roms I had on the phone are gone. Is there a way I can hook the phone up to my computer as a usb device and reload my roms?
Thanks for the help.
What is LG root checker? Is it like Samsung's Knox? Does it void the warranty if you root?

No, it's not.
Yes, it does.
It gets reset when you flash stock.

Install SuperSU app from playstore. If u are in stock KK 4.4.2 install recovery using Auto_rec.apk, which u can down load from the link below,
Download AutoRec.apk (please find it here : http://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=13763) app for your device’s model Make sure you choose the right model.
Install AutoRec app like any other APK file You might need to mark the check box of “Unknown sources“.
Open AutoRec app and grant root permission to continue.
It will display a warning message “Modifying partitions is dangerous and we won’t take any responsibility for possible damages you or the app may do to your system. Please use at your own risk.”
Tap on “Yes” to continue
Tap on “Flash recovery” to install TWRP custom recovery Don’t touch your phone while flashing.
After finishing installation, it will display “Recovery installed succesfully. You may now reboot to recovery“ (install oneclickrestart.apk from palystore for this)
This was originally a question, but since no one answered I finally tracked down the info in bits and pieces.
Thought I'd post it in case someone else has the issue.
These are 3 easy steps to take a Tmobile LG G2 running the current (7/27/14) 80120E KDZ from the OTA, and root your phone, install recovery and turn off the OTA.
If you need to return to stock go to this link http://theunlockr.com/2013/10/31/unroot-lg-g2-verizon/ and return to stock first.
1) From a rooted Tmobile LG G2, download Towelroot... it does all the work.
2) For TWRP go to http://www.droidviews.com/install-twrp-recovery-on-lg-g2-running-android-4-4-2-kitkat/ and download Autorec and it automatically loads TWRP... Only wish it had been that easy to root and recovery the last time.
Then FOR TMOBILE USERS:
Turn off OTA:
3845#*801# turns on Hidden menu
Select WLAN test
OTA settings: Disable
Others:
3845#*800# (AT&T)
3845#*801# (T-Mobile)
3845#*802# (European)
3845#*803# (AT&T and Canadian)
5689#*980 (Sprint)
Knock On will be disabled so now do this:
* 3845#*801# > setting > update touch firmware ( the 801 should be which ever model your phone is)
* The device will freeze ( Wait until the process )
so no need to downgrade??
just ordered an lg g2 from tmo. will be on the latest version, so my question is I dont have to downgrade anymore to install custom recovery i can just use autorec? thanks for your time!

No, I had just done the OTA 2 days ago which messed up my rooted system, so I did a complete factory reset and then did the OTA to bring it up to most current Kitkat 801120E and the above it was I did.
The ONLY issue I have found is that my knock knock will turn the screen off, but not turn it back on (I have to push the power button), but that's fine for me because I kinda hate the knock knock feature in the first place.

SWEET. thanks!
Ok
So the wife has the ATT version.I am not 100% sure if she was on JB or KK. Last night we were going to bed and she said that a notification popped up to update an app (well she says it said to update an app) and so she hit ok. the phone rebooted and went right to recovery.. the phone will not boot up.. every time it boots it goes right to twrp... i tried to restore her old stock backup and it still wont boot...
so, what I am thinking might have happened was she was on JB and it came up saying an update for phone was avail (going to KK) and she hit yes.. and since she was rooted, it failed or something and soft bricked it. does this sound about right?
What I am wondering is will using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2663369 work... i downloaded the kitkate D80020C one and wondering if that process will fix it? or, do I need to do one of the JB ones?
I appologize, but unfortunately I don;t really use the phone and not familiar with it.. all i did was root it for her and get rid of some bloat and then boom.. she F's it up
appreciate any feedback... hate to run that and make it worse if it does..
Zug
edit: so.. other issue is can't seem to get it to boot into download mode... i plugged the cable into laptop , held the vol up button, then plugged the other end into the phone and it still only boots into twrp...
any ideas?

thanks... i actually managed to somehow find that post and was just about to update..
so, her phone had the old twrp without adb,, so i did the instructions for the terminal command and did that command and the phone boots..
here is what i posted there and maybe possibly you might know as well..
now question is what else do i need to do to her phone ... its hers (sorry note3 guy here ;P)
i am in her about phone and this is what she has.
4.4.2
kernel 3.4.0

is she on the latest? do i need to update twrp, if so, what would be best method...its bee a while since i rooted it and not sure what i did.. in my downloads i have ioroot24, so guessing that is what i did.. not 100% sure if she took the ota to KK or not.. as that is what I am thinking happened ad she came from JB, but does it make sense that the ota stuck after i did that command? all her apps are still there that she recalls, but i can't be 100% certain wtf happened
do I need to do anything further for her? again, i appreciate the help

what the command form that thread does is delete the ota file from a partition where it stores itself on your wifes device so it could stop trying to ota and boot normally
well if she is running d80020u then she has updated to kk before(jb was d80010d>d80010o> and then kk update was d80020c>d80020k>280020u>d80020y) with 20y being the latest(and the one it asked her to update to befor brick) if you want ot be able to ota to the latest than you would need to use download mode to go to stock and then do ota process until d80020y and for root on new update you need to use stump root with the brute force method and then use autorec if you want custom recovery again and if you decide to use autorec you will need to flash a custom kernel with knock code support for d800(I suggest dorimanx kernel) because autorec will break knock on/knock code

well a heads up it will be happening again, att pushes the update and after ignoring it a couple of times it will force install the update; if you want to avoid it then there are a few options:
1)if you are a titanium backup pro user then just freeze the ota app(I think it was something with dms in the name but I have not used att rom in a couple of moths and forgot the name sorry)
2)if you don't own tibu pro than using a root explorer just delete the ota app(once again I don't remember the name, sorry)

Hello guys, I just bought an LG G2 VS980 like 2 weeks ago and everything was working fine till yesterday, I decided to root the phone to do some tweaks to it and I found some problems that were not there before rooting.
The problems were.
-Slow charing
-Battery Draining.
First thing I did today in the morning was UNROOT the device because I thought the problems would be solved in that way, to my surprise they are still there!!
I tried to put back the stock rom but my phone can't enter into download mode, tried rooting and entering with TWRP and I can't root my phone with the same method again :crying::crying: stump root says "ERROR: Unsupported device" When it is at 13,000.
Is there any way I could go back to stock without using download mode or TWRP?
HEEELP!!!!
Thank you in advance guys, I know you guys work hard to build such a great and helpful community.

Have you tried downloading and running AutoRec instead of StumpRoot? StumpRoot roots your device but doesn't install TWRP. AutoRec will downgrade your bootloader to Jelly Bean and will install TWRP as a custom recovery.

SOLVED
All I needed was to get into download mode, the problem was a combination of usb port + cable. Both my laptop and my desktop only have 3.0 usb ports, but I found a couple of 2.0 ports at the back of the case (the ones that come with the mobo), when I tried with those ports it inmediately entered into download mode .
Now I am using official lollipop (manual OTA) without root
Thank you for all your help d00lz
So after a few days of work I've come up with way to root mm on d852.
Tested and works on:
D852 Bell
D852 Koodoo (Thanks to QuebecFanat1c for testing)
Sasktel D852 (Thanks to popcorn900 for testing it)
~ I do not own the tools provided! I just used them to achieve root ~
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-ZnsKWCK811R0ZXNmF5RE9Sa0k/view?usp=drivesdk
Steps:
1. Download zip and extract it.
2. Install kingroot .apk and click "try to root". It will take a few minutes but it will give you temporary root privileges.
3. Next install the AutoRec MM apk and let it backup and prepare files then click install twrp and give it root privileges using kingroot .
4. Go into kingroot, click the three little dots in the top right and go into " general settings". Now go to the bottom and you should be able to uninstall it.
Once it's uninstalled it may try to reboot your phone. If it stays black screen pull the battery out then reinsert it.
5. Now with kingroot uninstalled reboot into recovery by (from phone fully off) hold volume down +power, once the lg screen shows up let go then hold them down again after half a second. The reset screen will show up. Click volume down then power to boot into twrp.
6. Once in twrp flash the superuser 2.45.zip
Reboot phone.
You should now have root!

What model is your phone?
Sounds like a bootloop, have you tried pulling the battery and trying to boot again?
If that doesn't work you may have to flash stock lg firmware using download mode.

I haven't tried it on d852g. I only have the d852. I'd recommended making a lg backup to a SD or copying the backup to a PC then trying this method. If I doesn't work flash factory lg firmware from download mode, then update to the version you where on and restore the backup.
If you do try it and it works be sure to let us know!
Ok i will try over the weekend. Thanks.
Has anyone else tested this on the Bell/Virgin variant, and does it work? This seems like a good method, but really only have the OP saying to have tested it on my device model, and would like some more assurance before proceeding.

I'm pretty sure Bell and Sasktel are the same and this will probably work but, I'm not going to root this phone as it is working just fine with the MM update and I buy my app's so don't really see a need for root. Also I have never had luck with a rooted device ever lol bricked every single device I rooted. Thx for your reply though.
Works perfectly on d852g.. Just needs to updated in recovery(twrp)
@boho555 I took the plunge and try'd it on my Sasktel LG G3 D852 on MM and it worked flawlessly. This phone is now rooted. Thx bro. I further updated the TWRP and updated SU and further I installed Fulmics 5.3. Damn sweet phone now.......................... Not sure if I should install Xposed Framework. This rom for my phone seems to work very well. **confirmed working on a Sasktel D852** That came shipped with MM lol.

Good to hear! If you have TWRP just make a backup then try installing Xposed I'll add the xposed files to the post!
step 2, uninstall kingroot
*snip*
Steps:
I have root, until I remove kingroot, then bam, back to being unrooted, followed your steps, waiting till twrp was installed and superSU was flashed, checked and rooted, removed kingroot and unroots.
D852 on virgin, MM kernel 3.4.0 software version d85230e
thank you, worked perfect!
only different is, if I uninstall Kingroot, the phone back to unroot. so I have to flash SuperUser after AutoRec, then updated SuperUser. after reboot, the Kingroot disappeared.
BTW, anyone know which ROM is the best and save battery for D852? thanks
So far so good! After trying two methods before this only to eventually give up, this one turned out to be the easiest and most straightforward (not to mention it seems to have worked perfectly!)
Model: LG G3 D852
Software: MM (6.0)
Provider: Virgin Mobile Canada
I have yet to reboot my phone after the last step but root privileges have been persistent thus far, even after removing kingroot.
Thanks for sharing your method!
[Update] Phone maintains root status following reboot with no issues. Thanks again.
didn't work for me, koodo d852 sotware version d85230G . Unable to gain temporary root access with new kingroot.
When I run KingRoot on my Rogers/Fido D852 it searches for a root strategy but comes back with 'no root strategy available'. I have Stock 6.0.
