Hi all
Anyone here using Google Play Music?
Coming from a GN, I got used to the pure android stuff, Google Play Music being one of them.
I listen to music streaming from Google Music in my car on my phone (connected via 3.5 jack to my aux) almost every day, with the GN when I wanted to skip a song\pause\play I would've simply turn on the screen and use the lock-screen Google music thingie that popped there every time Google Play Music was running, but now it doesn't seem to be implemented into the s4, so I need to swipe down the status bar (considering I'm not using some kind of security lockscreen) and find the next\pause\play buttons among all the accidentally clickable stuff there... OR unlock the phone and use the Play Music app itself.
Now I'm not ranting about one more or less button to press here, really, it's just that while I'm driving every millionth of a second that my eyes are on the road counts, so I liked it the way it used to be, where I didn't even need to look at the screen..
Long story I know..
Anyway, any simple solution? or would I'll just have to get used to it?
p.s - not planning on moving to the stock music player as all of my music is in the Google Music cloud and I really like it that way.
Got the same issue. Sometimes it'll work fine, sometimes nothing on lock screen. Generally I find Google Play Music pretty damn annoying and horrible. Would love a solution as well.
Holy mother of all tits IT WORKS.. I just played a song and the damn thing is there in the lock screen looking at me..
Yep, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't... Would love to understand why.
Does anyone know a solution for this? Perhaps another recommended music player?

Worked for me too!
Hi,
First, not sure this is the right place to post this, if not sorry !
I just got my LG G Watch R (and I love it !), but something is bothering me, I've seen some apps to control the music player, but nothing really great.
For example the stock app, when screen is "off" (not actually off, you know what I mean), you have to wake the screen, slide to the left and then you have the buttons to change the volume. Same thing to skip a song.
I'd like something more customizable, because I took a face for the watch where the time is displayed on the top of the scree so I have space not used, I could have a next song button, etc.
One other thing is the lack of possibility to browse through artists or albums, why ? I mean I get there's not much space, but with some thinking we could have a way to scroll through everything. In the end I have to use my phone everytime I want to listen to another artist.
So If anyone knows an android wear apps that at least browse through artist that would be nice,
and if they're none, I guess I'll just develop it myself !
Thanks.
Edit : After some digging on stack, it seems like this music card can't be removed, so I guess what I wanted to do is impossible.
If you're willing to use a totally separate app, stelio music player has the option to not trigger the default notification and it's own notification can be hidden like any other. You can also select music from the library with it, though when you select an artist it shows all songs by artist instead of artist > album > song. I've made the suggestion to add that and the dev has said he's working on it so hopefully that gets added soon. For some reason the app is not currently on the play store but the website is stellio.ru if you want to check it out.
Oh and I almost forgot but there is a plugin for poweramp that allows for browsing the library on the watch called Poweramp Remote that will allow you to browse but it does not get rid of the stock card. I know you're looking for a watch face but those two at least allow you to browse the library.
Hello everyone,
I have a question regarding Google Play Music on my Note 4 (SM-N910F Snapdragon, stock and no root—yet, full build no. KTU84P.N910FXXU1ANK4), it has a weird problem playing music (plus one more thing I'll mention later on).
Basic info:
All of my songs are placed on my LEXAR microSDHC 32GB Class 10 633x UHS-1 card. The reason why they're not on internal SD is simple, I need a place where I can write data, and since unrooted KitKat is totally stupid in this area, I don't see it changing anytime soon
Format is m4a AAC LC, VBR Preset 5 (Typical bitrate 192kbps)
I have no Adapt Sound, Equalizer, Effects, nothing... turned on, as I want the raw sound.
It doesn't happen in the Samsung Music app.
Here is my hopefully simple and understandable description of the problem:
When try to I play a locally stored album, I'd play the first track, it plays perfectly fine and then when it goes to the second one, its volume goes down and back up to normal usually around the 1 second mark or so. This also happens when I try to skip to the end of the first song and let it go on to the next one. No matter if the display and app are active or not.
I've tried many songs and it always happens on the second song only. I still have my S2 (GT-i9100) with the same version of GPM and it works just fine.
Anyway, here are a few samples of it happening.
here is a google drive folder with three recordings of the problem + an info pic for the third sample
It's driving me nuts.
And the other thing I mentioned: why can't I see almost none of my album art, unless its embedded in the file itself? (I use folder.jpg in every album folder...) –this applies to both GPM and Samsung Music. Is this because the apps can't write thumbnails onto the SD card?
I can't properly use the stock Samsung Music for various reasons:
it doesn't understand Albumartist, Album Artist and Band tags — which makes choosing an album from an artist with some guests real pain (I'd have to retag my songs to lose the guests from the artist tag I suppose)
it's fullscreen = can't see notification/status bar/time, unless I swipe the top of the screen — any option to see statusbar by default?
no gapless playback... GPM on my N4 is gapless between tracks, but has this gap after a second, so.... not really gapless either!
Thanks in advance for any help in solving this issue.
So, here is a little EDIT: I was, to say it mildly, a little angry, so I started trying different players and noticed that for example Poweramp does the same thing, but instead of changing volume, it loudly clicks in the same place. And other players do it too.
Changed the thread name to reflect that it doesn't affect just Google Play Music, but it's by far the worst of the bunch.
I need someone to just check if they have the same problem—just play the first song, it should be fine, and then skip to the end of it and let it go to the next one on its own, and in my case, you'd hear the volume go down and back up almost instantly, but it's so unpleasant that I have to throw away my headphones every time it happens...
It's most noticeable in something slow or a guitar, not so much in a disco/techno/etc. song as it has a rhythm that could probably mask it.
I also (exclusively) use Poweramp for playing music on my mobiles. I solved the isse you described by going into Settings > Audio > Advanced Tweaks and deactivating the top 3 settings (Dv control, BT direct control, MusicFX).
I had your same issue I've tried all the possible solutions but nothing seemed to solve the problem (actually it was working good with the cyanogenmod 12 alpha but it was too unstable...) but in the end I decided to take it to the assistance and now I am waiting for an unknown spare part that is missing...
:crying::crying::crying::crying:
bibbo81: And what did they tell you? That the problem is hardware related? Don't even try to tell me that I'm gonna have to get it fixed?!
daffie, I'm pretty sure I turned those off, but let me check and get back to you.
Thanks guys for letting me know that I'm not the only one with this issue...
here goes a solution of sorts:
Daffie, like I said, I turned those off first thing, meaning it doesn't fix the issue for me, HOWEVER, switching MusicFX on and off causes it to either click/skip or make the volume down/up thing...... that lead me to an idea: disable the SoundAlive app, and guess what: Google Play Music works perfectly (still missing album art), but Poweramp still clicks or pops (not sure which one is that ) and skips around the one sec mark.
This makes me believe that there's definitely something about the SoundAlive app that's causing the issue. Shame it doesn't fix it for Poweramp, though. (None of the buffer/priorities/etc. tricks works)
THE BOTTOM LINE IS: this makes the issue almost solved in my case, since I don't use SoundAlive at all, and I do like GPM a little bit more, because its "start screen" isn't the player screen itself, but rather the library window and I can go back to it, instead of going out of the app, plus it understands %Albumartist% tags.
But I'd still like to fix this, so that we don't have to disable stuff, that might be useful to someone.
Anyway: Does anybody know how to get GPM (and also Samsung Music) to read album art from "folder.jpg"?
Hi all...
First off, Asus Zenwatch (original), paired with a Samsung Galaxy S6.
If I open my watch, say "OK Google", and say "Play Dropkick Murphys", it response with "Play Music", "Playing Music", "Opened on phone", and nothing happens. If I then unlock my phone, I find it on the search screen within TuneIn Radio Pro.
Ideally, I'd like it to be playing withing Google Play Music.
Within the Android Wear app, I have Play Music as my default app when I say "Play Music". I can't find any defaults on my phone that would make it think that TuneIn is my default music app.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!
Same problem. Moto 360 and a note 4. Just cannot figure this out.
When I ask my phone to play a song by a given artist, it opens in play music fine. When I ask my watch, it opens the God awful bloatware music app by Samsung on my phone.
The weird thing is that if I ask my watch to just "play music", it opens Google play music and plays a random song. Even if I go in and force close the Samsung music player, it opens back up.
Same happens to me. It's odd because I have an in car Bluetooth, and that has always opened Google music when I asked but when I use my watch, it opens some random app.
I'm getting the same thing with my Huawei Watch + Sony Z3. When issuing Ok Google, Play music by ****** command, it would search with Soundcloud instead of Play Music. I tried to remedy this by uninstalling Soundcloud, but now the track search occurs in YouTube Music.
Hi!
Same problem with my LG Urbane and G3. I contacted Google, they told me it was a known issue and will be fixed in one of the next updates, if not the very next.
Regards
Damn I found thus and was hoping for a solution. Looks like an update has screwed us all!

Current solution
After some research I found out how to fix this, and it is not through Android Wear as you would expect.
If you go to the Google App on your phone, tap the menu button on top and tap on settings, then hit "phone search" you can uncheck the "Play Music" option. This will turn off the 'search' from Google Now for playing music.
Then you can go back to google now and say "Play SongNameHere", and it will ask which app you want to use.
This works, but is not the ideal solution if, for example, you want to use the search on your phone, but a single app through your watch. Luckily, I don't use the search on my phone so this solves my problem.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, unchecking that box didn't seem to have any effect on either the phone search or Android Wear.
I'm running Nexus 6 Chroma ROM with a 1st Gen Moto 360, and the only way I've found to "fix" the issue is to uninstall TuneIn.
I have a problem with my lock screen.
I went to the notification center and gave Lock screen permisions to all my music apps. I say all because I've been testing several to be sure it's not the app fault.
the apps are: jetAudio, Music (the default huawei one), Black Player, Phonograph, Podcast Addict, Pulsar, Rocket Player and Spotify.
All of them have all the permissions possible (lock screen, Banners, status bar) and so far the only one that has the music controls properly working is the default music app and Spotify (both with the exact same UI, I mention this because I don't know if this is how is supposed to be seen).
I don't know what to do.
I'm running Nova, in a VNS-L31. If you need any additional info just name it.
Thanks in advance.

First things first, EMUI is made that way so you can't enable music controll on lockscreen for third party apps.
Second, you are running Nova (launcher?), that doesn't have anything to do with the ROM...
To have lockscreen controls you will need to flash a third party ROM (eg. LineageOS by @Meticulus), (not EMUI). But as i can see, you are pretty new to the Android thing, so i wouldn't recommend it.
thanks for your answer.
I put all the information I could think of, in order to make your task helping me easier.
Yes I am quite new. I've only rooted a nexus 5 and it was with a program that did almost everything for me. Nexustools or something like that....
Seems to me that probably for music screen controls maybe it's too much hassle. although it's not my favourite I guess I will stick with the default music app.
Just one more question, when huawei rolls out the update to Emui, it probably will keep working the same way, won't it?
Thanks again mate
In Firmware Finder --> Tweaker (Test) --> Set music player to keyguard
It works good on P9 lite with Android 6.0 ...
I didn't test it with Nougat.
