It seems there are two types of ROMs, but I don't know what the difference is. Can I have some help?
No ROM could be that small, 200 MB, at least not for Note 3. The standard size is 1.2-1.5 GB for a TouchWiz based ROM. If you have seen a ROM of 200 MB or that small amount in size then it must be an OTA update file, or some update package. The base ROM can never be that small.

Well it could be a cm based rom since you have to flash gapps separately.
Cyanongenmod's site has a bunch of these.
These are all around 200mb, and I can't seem to find a base ROM on the site. Are they just very simple ROMs?
All cyanogenmod roms are pure android (even with out gogle apps, you have to download them seperately) being pure android means they don't have toucwiz,s-pen features and bloatware.
While roms based on the official samsung firmware are around1-1.7gb (because they have touchwiz which is heavily themed, they have extra functionality aircommand, airbrowse and spen features) so they tend to be latger in siE
Hope that helped !!

I just started uploading some ROMs with Aroma Installer and this takes a lot of time.
So I started looking at the size of the files:
ROMS with Aroma installer:
Chrack's ROM: 960 MB
Alba's ROM: 930 MB
Criskelo's ROM: 680 MB
Compare this with "normal" ROMs:
Stock ROMs: 650-700 MB
CM ROMs:
CM9/10 ROMs: 150-200 MB (incl. GApps)
Right now I'm waiting for the first Aroma ROM > 1 GB.
I like the possibility of choosing my flavour of ROM, but I think they are getting too big.
These are Note Roms. So the bigger the better. :cyclops:
As long we have fast download servers im not worried at all. Even if they were twice as big as now.
Just not fair for ppl with lame internet connection.
Aroma is about being able to choose options when installing, this means aroma roms are always going to be bigger then their vanilla counterparts, if the base is the same and not trimmed down.
Dont see the issue here

Aroma works not all the time, always getting stuff on my phone that i do not want, better to upload the rom and flash zips with the things you want. I want a light rom and the rest i paste in my system folder if i want. Theme and kernel you can leave out, always flash with root kenrel so i have root, theme i flash afterwords. That will make it much lighter. Theme is about 40 mb. I think the developer should just upload his rom how he likes it. If you not like than flash something else.
I thought the minimum was 512mb, do you remove stuff under the hood or how is it done?
Also, how is it possible to run Kitkat on such low internal storage?
I remember a month ago nobody even thought of Kitkat but then androidarmv6 came in
Its possible

Of cource, it is possible! Our orginal RAM is 0.38 GB, but only 290 MB is user available! Even device than galaxy Y runs kitkat almost stable like Galaxy 5!
Infact, 500 MB RAM is used to run KK flawlesslt!

I think not
Android Jelly Bean Smartphone with 512MB of RAM can sometimes make the performance of the smartphone to be slow, let alone KitKat on 300MB RAM?
Sorry for bad english
I'm currently running KitKat on my TassVe, which is essentially a Totoro under a Galaxy Mini shell, and I can say that it's smooth most of the time. Typing can be a bit laggy, and some apps (such as Titanium Backup) can take a long time to boot. But overall still smooth enough for daily use. Only complaint is the epic power consumption of the ROM.
Oh and this is the experimental build. Before asking, no, I will not provide links to it.
Like the title already says i am looking for the best ROM for the Galaxy S4 to use everyday so it has to be stable and bugfree.
The reason why i dont want the stock touch wiz rom anymore is that it lets only 9gb free on my 16 gb model.
Please recommend me ROMs that are reliable and if possible also with the ability to move Apps to the SD Card.
Thanks and greetings
Any rom is stable and no rom is bugfree.
Couldnt you have posted in one of the 3268 existing best ROM threads

the best rom is Stock 5.0.1. who cares about available memory, get a 64gb sd card.

Best as in what the hell is subjectivity.
I would recommend
Lollipop german version.
Echoerom.
But for you. Try the cm12 alucard and antaresone's rom. I find it refreshing . Bonus: it's like 400mb in total. Including gapps.:good:
I find the GPE roms to be very good.
I tried the CM12 Optimzed builds and faced several problems.
With the GPE roms I've never had any trouble. Also have great battery life.
Hi,
I have a Galaxy I9505, I'm not too familiar with custom roms but there appears to be almost too much choice.
At the moment it has Stock 5.0.1 and I'm constantly clearing space. Overnight a handful of built in system apps have created nearly 1gb of temp/cache data which is rediculas.
I'm looking for a custom rom to replace the stock rom but I dont really want to try ever one to see which I prefer.
I want a clean stable rom with no bundled apps and good battery performance. What is the best rom that fits this description based on your experience?
Thanks for your advice.
Aaron
No custom ROMs come with unnecessary apps.
But the AOSP and Slim6 ROMs have even less apps than most. They also have less features.
Hi every one
I am on stock MM, and noticed that the android OS is using 5.11 GB out of my poor 16 GB storage.
Is there a custom ROM that use less amount of storage?
Can you guys post you're ROM and the amount of storage it's using?
Thanks!
This is memory reserved by the system, and not actually used by it. It doesn't depend on rom size. You'd have to resize your partitions to do anything about it.
