No root method. NEVER take ota if concerned about root.

I just got my N7 and will be rooting it. Should I do the OTA update first, then root? Or should I root, then install the update via CWM?
If I do OTA now, then root, will I be on 4.1.1 after the unlock and root?
just update then root, updating doesn't change how root works, and it is a lot easier to update via the OTA than than to flash via CWM

Thanks, updating now.
Yeah just update, then root and all should be good.
I think I may have boned myself a bit. I had kitkat 4.4.2 stock rom rooted with stumproot, and I did the OTA upgrade to lollipop. Not suprisingly, apps that need root no longer work. I installed rootchecker and it reports no root access. I installed stumproot again and it says that the device is already rooted. When I open supersu is says there is no supersu binary installed and it cannot install it.
What are my options on how to re-root my phone?
So i finally got the OTA update for lollipop and updated while rooted? I tried stump root because some said it work. Stump root says device is rooted already but its not. Can i just re root with the one click method, or do i need to do something special?
I always like to have the latest stable updates from google.
If I root my MXP, will I be loosing these updates and should depend only on custom ROMs?
Yes you won't get any updates...so why do you want to root ,if you want a stable phone?
Some custom ROM's are stable .
Using the marshmallux 2.0 myself, with better performance then the original android 6.
there is a root method called systemless root.with this supersu (systemless) you can receive OTA normally and then from another app,you can install this update and then also this app will re-root your phone.
If you root you can stil get the ota updates mate!!!!!!!! just download the ota file whenever you get the update then unroot your device from the supersu itself and flash the update!!!!! i have a rooted x play and when i get any updates i unroot and then install the ota and the again root my device ...... as simple as that

I keep receiving an OTA update for 6.0.1 but it fails, probably because I have rooted my Moto X Force.
How do I keep root and manually upgrade?
You can try the app FlashFire made by Chainfire. I personally haven't used and am not sure if it is supported on this device it so I can't vouch for how well it works. Otherwise the only way to do what you want is to unroot, update, and then reroot.
