I rooted my S5 model SM G900T using Oden3 v 3.07 plus CF-Auto-Root-kltetmo-kltetmo-smg900t.tar.md5 send donation to chainfire. This was four days ago. All was better than fine until yesterday afternoon, then I tried to connect to a local hot spot. The phone said strong signal but could not connect.
Last thing I did was to run Pry-Fi didn't really understand the app so shut it down or I think I did, then after returning home I noticed while trying to connect to Google play store it said no network available.
Under settings WiFi the on off toggle is grayed out, it will flash green briefly when I go into advanced but it will not turn on.
Under App info WiFi Direct v everything is grayed out data is Zero and no cache is Zero
WiFi Direct Share is OK
I have a full Titanium Backup in Drop Box if that helps.

After flashing CF auto root, you tripped the knox fuse. That will give you a 0x1 status. This is only an issue if you need warranty, some say it voids it, others say not always. But once it's tripped it can't be undone. (and will have NO effect on Wi-Fi)
Are you on a stock original rom or a custom rom, did you uninstall pry-fi, and what else did you install.

I don't think I installed anything but Pri Fy after rooting was assured then the app No-frills CPU Control,. I did not install a custom ROM. If it were the flash to auto root I would think I would have lost the wifi at that point not two days latter, I don't really know what Knox is but by having the stock software and resetting the phone to factory default I am sure I have not lost warranty as I have not damaged the phone. WiFi direct has no Cache or data
So I have to think maybe its related to Pri Fy
Thanks for the reply, I am late for work and would like to troubleshoot Pri Fy now and what it really does in relation to the other programs. As bkraptor in his post Pri Fy is broken so there seems to be issues with it. How ever his solution is in an area I have not venture yet.

Thanks for the info about KNOX, voiding the warranty is not a primary concern. My primary concern is WIFI because I use it as my primary way I use the phone at home. It leaves my phone almost useless. I followed the link about Pri Fi but I never saw a solution for the S5 is there a clear work around. Should I use the warranty that I am paying for with the carrier and pay the deductible for a new phone. Wow I wish I could turn back the hands of time now, or have bought a different phone.
I really need a working phone with wifi, I can't lose it totally LOL.

Did you happen to make a back up of your rom before you installed pri-fy, if so you could wipe and install that, or you could download a custom Rom and try that. At worst you can down load a stock version of your rom and install with Odin and it will be fixed.

No I didn't make a back up before Pri Fi, I still have the stock ROM in the phone. Titanium didn't make a back up as I had thought or it put it somewhere other then where I supposed it to be. The phone is more wacked more then I thought I get line drops like crazy but maybe it was using wifi more then I thought. Thanks for helping me, where can I find a good stable ROM for this S5 now that I am in so deep might as well go all the way. I have insurance on the phone if I lost it and I almost lost it today, looked and looked for that thing. I have rooted several phones without issue, but one did brick but Samsung sent me a new one no problem, yet I have never tried to install a custom Rom.

Titanium b/u only backs up your apps not your whole rom.
If your on a 900t,i would check this thread out, it is stock and needs odin but should be close to what you have now. (you would want the full tar version, not just the modem and bootloader)

I'm running stock 4.3 on the i9505 unlocked,
Knox is 0.1, so my wifi stops working if I switch the phone off or battery runs out,
Currently using the app "autostart no root" to block Knox at startup,
Wanted to know if there is any solution to fix the wifi issue without using the app,
Tried different modem and wifi fixes that went with them but non worked for me if I switch off and on,
restarts sometimes worked but other times didn't...

I have the same problem. I flashed a new Stock 4.3 today, and when the phone boots up I can not turn wifi on. I get a message about security and the process being blocked.
Tried to flash two time like above, but it will not work. How can I enable wifi again without installing av cusom rom?

Sorry no real fix,
You can root and block Knox completely this will give you wifi,
As I wanted it stock I drop it into a service center who have forwarded it to samsung now,

Same here.. & did you flash a stock (unrooted) rom first before handing back to service center.. I thought if it was discovered to be 'rooted' they won't fix it as it voids the warrenty or something

Auto start app from the playstore works but some times doesn't,

but for 'freezing' you need the paid for version & without Wifi how am I suppose to get it off play store anyway. It cost's too much using GPRS on PAYG to download.
Would renaming the files (whatever they are called) & rebooting do something similar ??

If you do a rest does the wifi work on initial setup,
I have a unlocked phone and the German O2 rom would work with wifi,
But after a switch on and off wifi went

Didn't try at the time & I've ONLY just managed to get (most of) my apps restored - don't fancy resetting again to find out
I've sent email to Samsung support to see what they come up with..(They MUST know there's a problem with the firmware & they may come up with something)
If not, I might try flashing the ROM again through Odin (as mentioned in a post somewhere - apparently doing it a couple of times MIGHT fix it) - if not I MAY attempt a full Unroot

I gave up as well tried everything all modems with the wifi fixes,
Then gave it to the service center in Edgware,
Who first said a few days and now saying it had to be sent off to samsung for repairs

I faced this problem, when I updated my Knox 0x1 device with Kies (+ CF Autoroot and Triangle Away). After this, I was not able to turn wifi on. My solution was simple, I flashed my device with Odin, CF Autorooted and Triangle Away again, and no problems anymore. Wifi is working and everything else too.

My problem is that I am unable to even TURN IT ON. When I attempt - I get a silver shield pop up, & a 'Security notice' stating - 'your device's security has blocked an action that is not permitted. No further action is required' - App info tells me it 'Knox notification manager'
I've been emailing them..telling them KNOX is preventing me from turning on my WiFi - so far all they suggested is downloading KNOX, then Install & uninstall to fix this notification - but how can I if I don't have WiFi ?? - GPRS on PAYG is WAY too expensive Don't these people think ?!?!
Anyway just recently found out about this Knox 0x1 business & where to find it..(for the other newbies It's on the 'Download ' screen (Volume Down + Power + Home))
But I'm confused... On my phone there are 2 KNOX references

Yes, it's because your Knox is 0x1. And AFAIK, there is no solution yet, to turn it back to 0x0. And I'm glad to hear, that you have your wifi back

How did you flash the firmware ?
Was it through OTA, Keis or Odin ??
I had same problem when updating my firmware via Keis v2.6 (see my post above [First & Last paragraphs] or my original post for a more in-depth explanation)
I managed to fix it myself by re-flashing a STOCK rom (got from 'sammobile' - using Odin) OVER the existing firmware (i.e I didn't hard reset it first - when it finished the phone wasn't wiped either) but the WiFi could now be turned on/off...I then 'CFAutoroot' & 'Triangle away' afterwards - checking each stage to make sure WiFi could still turn on/off
So far 'tripp' & myself have had success in fixing the 'Unable to turn on WiFi' using this method.

- Still, thanks for the offer of letting us know.. it's possible they may 'ignore' their policy, especially since they know they had a firmware problem
I've made a bit of a mess and I need help please. My s4 is softbricked, but as softbricks go, it's rather hard.
I have an early S4 i9505 bought from Carphone Warehouse (UK, unlocked, pre knox). I rooted it, installed TBackup, greenify and got it how I wanted it. Then I downloaded a stock firmware from Sammobile and tested to see if I could get it back to 'warranty' condition, which was a success.
Confident that I could obtain warranty if I needed it, I re-rooted it, installed TB and greenify, and it ran sweetly for months from that point onwards.
I read about the arrival of updates (and knox) and concluded I didn't need them. It was working, leave it alone.
Then out of the blue, my nice stable machine broke. I didn't change anything I was aware of to cause it.
No normal boot.
No recovery.
Download only.
Using Odin, I tried allsorts, eventually getting the same Sammobile firmware to run.
2 days later, it broke again, same as before, but worse!?
Then I tried all sorts of stuff downloading no end of things trying to get it to boot or even go into recovery. The most promising approach was to reload the firmware along with a .pit file, but still no joy. I've lost track of the other things I tried, but I've been doing it for a week, so a lot has been done. In desperation, I even tried downloading the latest firmware, so I now have signs of knox of the odin page.
I now have the following symptoms:
Booting into recovery brings up the blue 'booting recovery' message then just blackness.
Normal boot is exactly the same as above.
Unpowered conection to my laptop gives a 5 second boot loop featuring the buzz only.
I can reliably boot into download and download stuff with Odin and change the little Odin page status messages. After (foolishly) trying the latest firmware, these messages say

If anything else is not working (especially, if you're unable to go to recovery) I'd call sammy service center. Your download mode says that you did not rooted your phone, and knox is untouched either.

I was wondering if I could get away with that. It does look good from the Odin display, but the flash counter must have a pretty high number in it by now! Won't that show up somewhere?
Do you think it does actually have a fault on it, rather than just some software that's messed up and needs tweaking?

1. Are you able to go to recovery mode?
2. Assuming that your previous communicates were taken from the screen in download mode - you're clean.
If answer for 1 is: NO, and assuming 2: do not bother the flash counter. Flash counter does not means you messed with custom ROMs, it just means amount of the ROM update tries. As they are unable to prove that the counter was not increased by failed KIES updates, you're safe.
To go deeper, service will have to flash and wipe your phone.
One thing: remove your sd card prior to giving/sending it out.
Try a different usb cable.I was in same boat as you (after stupidly thinking mobile odin pro liked modems).
Luckily I had an unused cable off my tab 3.

It is charging somehow, but disconnecting and connecting all the time.
Another issues I have are the switching between Edge and HSPDA+, which is mostly not working, I have to switch it manually to H+ or GSM.
Also my screen is blinking, so I will send it back and never want to se that again.
But the problem is, that the original rom I had was Polish (it is unofficial distribution in my country) and I flashed it a few times, rooted, tried several ROMs but reverted back to original. Now there is German Rom installed - the official one, no Root or recowery, but I think the internal counter (Knox or how is called) is set up.
Is there any way to put it to the original shape with only access through SD card? Or do you think, will the service look for that counter?

The problem is, this counter is just for the services and seller... if Knox is 0x1 they wont repair it without costs. But you can try it anyway

Shut down your phone. Press Power + Volume Down until the screen turns on. Than there is a Warning, ignore it and go ahead. There will be the Knox and everything

So maybe your seller wont repair your phone...I would make a full wipe in your case and see if the problems still exist.
Another thought, maybe the download mode connection to computer is working.

Try it, if yes, go to recovery and wipe all your user data, clicking clean to install a new rom (In philz touch recovery) and than flash the latest software from sammobile, searching your provider
than flash it in Odin3.09, select AP and than choose the downloaded rom (it must be a tar.md5 file.)

No, there is no way. Most of people say it's en eFuse chip and when you flash any custom thing, this chip will be destroyed and it will be destroyed for ever.
My carrier seems to have flashed there own custom rom and rooted this I9500. I even found a TWRP
folder with a tiny .twrps file modified 2 days before I got the phone but recovery mode doesn't say anything about TWRP. They even tripped knox, I think. Pictures are attached at the bottom.
Now that I have studied up a bit I would like to know if I can just back up there rom and kernel with TWRP then flash a bloat free, hopefully smoother running combo and just flash back to theirs if need be and remove TWRP like they seem to have done?
They used TTT as a base for whatever reason if that matters. Actually that's the part I'm unsure about. Do I have to update to a different firmware and if I do can I go back to theirs?

Your carrier gave you a phone with knox bit tripped?? that is odd , i can tell you right now the phone is not new...
If you decide to keep it , you have a few options , flash a stock rom and leave it with the original firmware , or go custom , flash new recovery , new custom rom ..........
I been with them for years so I went for contract and got it for bumping my bill up $10 for two years. Effectively paying $240 for a $350 phone. I just didn't know about knox and that it had been tripped. Pretty sure it is new they just flash it with there own logo on the bootscreen+rom, just not sure if they did anything else to the rom. Still has the little plastic strips along the sides, no scratches, and accessories in the box are unopened. Suppose it could be a refurb but the Samsung stickers on the box don't say anything about being a refurb.
I just thought the fact is just said 1 and not 0x1 was weird to since all the pics i see posted here have two lines related to know with 0x0 or 0x1. Thought maybe they had used one of the methods that doesn't trip knox since I haven't studied enough about it.
I just want to see if it runs better on different rom=kernel and be able to switch it back if I decide to and can return it. Then again I might just take it back and get out of the contract if I can on the simple fact they gave me phone they have already voided the warranty on. My plan was to rely on it the first year then pay for insurance after that. If all else fails my sister has been wanting a new phone but stuck in a contract she shared with here ex so I might just give it to her on a $10 month payment plan lol.

I grabbed TWRP Manager and they already had 2.8.0.0 installed, so I backed up there custom version of TWRP and installed 2.8.1.0. I then made a full backup, wiped Data ,Cache Partitions and Preload as instructed in the thread for the rom I grabbed. I even factory reset and made a backup of that too. I flashed the latest version of Prism Barebone and all seemed good until I realized I had WiFi but no mobile data connection. I had already manually entered the APN info so I double checked it then checked efs folder and even pasted in a backup, rebooted and still no data. Flashed back to the factory reset backup and data was back so I grabbed an EFS backup app and an APN one and tried Prism again but still no data other than WiFi. Didn't really use the APN backup tool since it said something about not being able to load a backup on 4.x but I did look at the xml it produced and the settings were the same as I had manually entered.
I would try updating the modem but cant find a copy of I9500UBUFNA2 to flash back to if I decide to take the phone back and I'm really starting to think about doing that now, if I can. I just want this thing to run smooth, as of now my I927r runs Terra Battle smoother and loads it faster than this S4. Music even stutters when the screen is off unless I set the min cpu to 400 instead of the stock 250.
Terra Battle did run smoother on the prism rom but Injustice was no different. It seems like textures are slow on the first load but sometimes it freezes for a 1ms on particle effects and on rare occasion just randomly. Is this normal on the I9500's or did I just get a dud?
Almost forgot but with the carriers rom loaded I cant edit the APN's at all, if that means anything.

About 2 days ago i bought a Samsung S6 edge +, everything it's working fine on it except the battery... even when i take him out off the charger in Battery section says that i have only 10 H aprox to go with it...is this normal? And the big problem is that if i leave him with 80% battery, in the morning i have only 32% with background apps closed before sleep. I mention that i have 6.0.1 on it and i have warranty so i don't realy want to root the phone or something that will make me lose the warranty.

Hello Snapydj, I think the problem can be caused by any app you installed. For be sure, first thing is restart de phone in safe mode (you can search how to do it here in this fórum) and see the behaviour of the phone in terms of battery. If the problem persists, try a full wipe and don't install immediately any app from play store. See the behaviour and then install apps one by one and observe battery drain. After all these steps if the problem continue you must send it to warranty.

Hi,
I searched yesterday a couple of hours on forums and i think i find the answer. There are many threads that says that it is a known problem for S6 and S6 edge, they called it Deep Sleep problem. But any fix for it that i can find is with root, and i don't want to root the phone... I can't post external link because i am a new user on this forum...

Not at all. Yes, there is a deep sleep problem but is not the case of you certainly, because even with deep sleep issue in S6 edge+, it doesn't make battery drain like you have. I can say to you that my battery drain over the night isn't more than 1 to 2% per hour. So your phone has a abnormal battery drain for a regular S6 edge+ with stock rom. I remember you that my phone is standard, not rooted
Check your knox in bootloader. Maybe your phone has root before you buy it. Turn off . Press volume down, home and power button. Relase it when green screen appears. Then continue. Check info about knox warranty. There should be all 0. If you see somewhere 1 it will means that your phone has root before.

Hi,
I checked there and you're right. Appears void 1 but I checked with a program and says that the phone doesn't have root. I took the phone before I used it on a service shop to unlock to work on all carriers because was locked on single one. Maybe that's why appears void 1 there right ? I flashed myself yesterday afternoon the last build for 6.0.1 and now I'm waiting to see if something changed.. And then I restore to factory settings and then cleaned wipe partition.

I want to share with you the fix i found. So... as you know , i have flashed another build of 6.0.1 , the general version for Romania. This still hasen't fix my problem, but last night after reading more post, i saw someone who said that if you have knox tripped to 1 is a known bug to have battery drain and the only fix is to root the phone, so i said that i should try this too. I root the phone with CF root method through Odin and then install CPU Spy and 3Cpu and ... surprise!! ... Cpu's are going to sleep now, and the problem is fixed. I don't need to install anything else (on some forums says that you have to install twrp recovery and the install a zipp).
Now the only question is, i don't know why knox was tripped to 1 ... the phone wasn't rooted before... i read somewhere that even if you flash another stock rom with odin you trigger know , is this true ? Is any method that i can reset the counter after i unroot the phone ? I mean i don't want to lose warranty.
Rooting always trips Knox, and tripping Knox is irreversible.

I don't think you understand. Knox was already tripped before I root the phone. And only thing has happened before was flashing another stock rom on the phone.

Your phone had been previously rooted. Whenever and whoever unrooted it at a later date is irrelevant - knox is tripped.
You asked if there is any other method to reset the counter. The answer is no.

after you trippe knox ,knox cannot go back 0.
