I consistently notice nasty lag when typing into google search, as search does auto-search and auto-complete, and as the google now cards come up. It is really frustrating because, among other things, my key presses are not being registered. I did not have this lag problem on my Nexus 5.
Has anyone noticed this and figured out a fix?
I think it depends on your internet connection as auto complete comes from google servers

I never noticed it on my Nexus 5 on the same wifi connection.

Well seems as my WiFi chip is having technical difficulties. When I open the browser on WiFi it says page unavailable but when I turn it off load it on 3g and start WiFi again it works. Same thing with MySpace Xda browser market. Any have this problem or found a fix?

Mine always goes to page unavailable when I'm on wifi for the home page, but not any other pages. The home.web2go.com / m.web2go.com pages authenticate your phone over cell only, since tmo doesn't trust wifi to send your account details over (with good reason.)

Does anyone else's google voice app open really slow? Almost ask of my other apps open immediately or at least in less than a second. For some reason the google voice app on my vibrant can take anywhere from 2-8 seconds to open...
Its very annoying...
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
yes, it does take forever to open at times. after you apply the lag fix it opens instantly though. depending on your preference and risk level if you want to venture down the "lag fix" path.
it did this when i updated it this morning, but it has been fine ever since
Mine opens quickly and I do not have a lag fix.
I love the new widgets.

oh, neat. i was wondering what the update actually did
still need to be able to block callers though (or is there a way to do this already?)
Since updating today its not only slow to load, but slow everywhere when using the app. It often hands for 3-5 seconds fit no apparent reason. Do I need to uninstall the app and reinstall? Is my inbox too full? It says I have just over 400 messages. Do I need to archive a bunch of them?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
So I tried cleaning out my inbox, rebooting my phone, and uninstall/reinstall of the app...none of this helped.
Am I they only one having issues?
Any ideas on what i could do to troubleshoot? Is this just a samsung thing and I should just wait until froyo update before spending too much time troubleshooting?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
The new update was unbearable. Google voice always took 2-3 seconds to open but with this update it seems to take longer. On top of that it would lag the crap out of swype, and freeze the phone for 3-5 second after sending a message.
Titanium backup saved me from this horrible update.

Cysco24,
Glad to hear I'm nitty the only one. It freezes my swype keyboard for several seconds all the time as well. This update is horrible...
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Just a note: it also freezes the stock android keyboard as well. So its not specific to swype...

did you guys try force closing the app and clearing the cache?
like i mentioned earlier, i had this problem at first after the update but it has been fine ever since.

i uninstalled, reinstalled, restored to factory, wiped, and reinstalled and its still the same way, laggy as hell
Anyone ever found a solution for this? My google voice app is still slow and freezes the keyboard randomly for a few seconds...
Its this a vibrant problem or a google voice problem?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Sounds like a vibrant issue if after applying the lag fix it disappears.

i removed the update and the lag fix, install the update and reinstall the lagg fix, bur still no improvement, Does anybody knows where to get the old version? the old one was working better.
Just curious, anyone else find the choice of 1x3 sized widgets annoying?
My preference is usually 1x1, 1x2 or 1x4. 1x3 just seems odd.
I have the same problem

So google just released an update for the GV app today. I installed it and so far it seems that the vast majority of lag I was experiencing is now gone! Has anyone else here that was having issues tried the update from today? I'm curious if any one else is having luck with todays update?

I don't find it annoying but I consider it a stupid choice by going with 1x3. I have Launcher Pro Plus so I just resize it to 1x4. Much better
Can anyone else verify this glitch. The browser find on page feature for some odd reason always freezes and makes me force close the browser on some sites.

Since you say "some sites" give me an example and I'll check for ya, but I'm not going to go looking for random sites to see if I can confirm it or not.

How well does the offline Google Maps Navigation work? I just find it as an interesting feature and was wondering how well does it work for some of you?
I don't believe there is offline navigation, just offline maps only.
The map only is offline... but navigation still need an internet connection or gps... so what do u mean with offline navigation?
Sent from my LG-P920 using xda app-developers app
Search, someone did it using offline maps in a city. The GPS still works without wifi
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I've noticed maps doesn't work without WiFi, but if you start navigation before you leave your connection it will still guide you and update routes in realtime.

For Maps to work offline, you have to mark an area to be available for offline usage (it caches it). Simply click make available offline in the overflow menu (well it's there on my Galaxy Nexus it might be somewhere on the Nexus 7).
navFree has good navigation. Download the maps for offline use and all that is needed is GPS.
Google Maps can be used offline if you select and save an area.\
Google Maps Navigation can't be used offline even if you do the above.
Other third party navigation apps can be used offline.

Like I said Google navigation will work offline if you start it while your still connected to WiFi @home or current location.
Once its loaded it will do turn by turn and update as you go using GPS. I've played with it over the weekend and it kept updating and telling me to do a uturn when I changed course, then finally figured out where I was going and updated accordingly.
It may help that I have the SF bay area saved in maps

guess that could be true on newer versions. One time i was driving to orlando and lost service and navigation paused and said it would resume when i got a data connection back. this was well over a year ago though on my nexus one.

Yep, testing this on my nexus 7 I didn't imply that it would pertain to any other android device.

I tested it a bit too. It took it a bit to figure out I made a wrong turn. Eventually it started telling me where to turn again, but it wouldn't say the street names. It would just say things like "turn right in 800 feet."

For some reason the new Facebook app is giving me a Network Error message, even though the connection is fine. I have a S3, but it doesn't seem to be affected.

I have had the same thing happen to me on my N4 and N7!! However, when I was getting the network error, I was using a verizon mifi hotspot. I tried uninstalling FB then re installed it, but it kept happening. However, when I took it home and was on tmobile's hspa+ network, I didn't really have any issue.
Here is your link:

I'm on the GS2 and i'm having the same problem as well. Each new updates hasn't done a thing to fix this issue...
I get it on my phone and my Nexus, I think it is more of a problem with the app

i have the same problem. the new facebook app (version 2.0) always says network error. galaxy note, ICS4
In the gs2 forums, we decided it was caused by ad blockers. Is everyone here using one? It seems like the problem is fixed for me though.

Yeah I use adaway maybe that is it, I would rather go with out the face book app then go without a adaway

Just go to settings in AdWay > Your List > and uncheck graph.facebook.com
What worked for me was to log out of Facebook book, reboot, log in to Facebook. I haven't had a problem since with it.

Me too.
I had the same problem on my Defy & my S3. So I downloaded a app called FriendCaster. Works very well. I saw some other 3rd party apps too. Might help.
