Note 3 Update Questions

Hello,
I have a note 3 SM-N9005 running on 4.3 and I just noticed an update that can be installed.
My basband is N9005XXUDMJ7.
Kernal is 3.4.0-2019540.
My question is can I root using towelroot without tripping knox?
If not is the new update ok to apply?

As with any updates, I would suggest you have a backup of your data, just in case.
To root your device, towelroot will work and will not trip knox (if done properly).

Take note that you should upgrade to 4.4.2 before rooting.

You'll be able to root, no problem.

What do you mean by that? The OTA update you'll do will take care of everything for you. No need for you to change your bootloader manually.

Ok so to 100% sure if I update to 4.4.2 then root using towel root it will not trip knox?

Nope. Your Knox will stay safe if you follow the procedure I linked.

[Q] Unlock bootloader on 9.8.1q-94

Hi,
i've got a new Razr M, which has from factory this version of system:
98.30.1.xt907.verizon.en.us
build: 9.8.1q-94
I think about if it's possible to make towel root on this version of system, unlock bootloader with motocalypse and then flash TWRP and then CyanogenMod 11, last M8 build which is for JB.
Or it is not possible in this version of system and only way it's take OTA and then root, unlock bootloader and then Cyanogen for KK?

If you want to unlock your bootloader, you'll need to update to KitKat first. Then you can apply towelroot and Motopocalypse.

Ok, thanks, as i read somewhere, there this towel root is possible on all version of Android before 4.6. But i wasnt sure about unlock bootloader.

Flash the official Kit Kat ROM first, then hit it with Towel Root and finally use Motopocalypse app. After that, the Fastboot utility in the bootloader will indicate Status 3 or if you just boot straight back to the OS, you will be greeted by the teal warning splash screen telling you that you have effectively destroyed the warranty by unlocking the bootloader.

KK Update
Has the update been patched or is it still OK to OTA? Still running 4.1.2 (9.8.1Q-78-1)?
The reason I have never heard about any updates is I have had Motorola services disabled!

Yes. Android 4.4 Kit Kat update can be unlocked. I unlocked mine.

Also, it is worth a note, Towel Root WILL work with previous firmware versions, however, Motopocalypse doesn't work on all versions.

This. Kit Kat update is the only version the Motopocalypse works on.

Hey everyone, I have a rooted locked bl JB 4.1.2 build 9.8.1a-78... I'd like to unlock pop and drop it. How do I go about upgrading to KK to towelroot when rooted? And is the exploitable version KK.10? Thanks!

Just download motoclyspe which is also by geohot its apk and it works by same way towelroot
Download motoclyspe by geohot
Install on mobile (its apk)
Press the button (I forget name of button)

Use rsd lite to flash 182/183.46.10 and do what he ^ said just make sure its .10... I'll grab the link that has all the info...

Can't thank enough for the help, successfully upgraded, rooted, and unlocked. Got hung up on rsd lite, had to edit xml for firmware. Other than that, smooth sailing and the beer at the party is still ice cold.

[Q] Update to KitKat and then BL unlock possible?

Device: Droid Razr M
Android Version: 4.1.2
System Information: 98.30.1.XT907.Verizon.en.US
Build Number: 9.8.1Q-94-1
Bootloader Status: Locked
Root Access: Yes
Recovery: Stock
I bought the phone used and when i got it, it was on the same firmware mentioned above, i rooted it and removed almost all bloatware apps that came preloaded with the phone and now i am obviously not able to have my OTA update done.
My plans are to flash the same stock JB firmware via RSD process and when i am done with that (having a fresh phone without root), i will either flash 183.46.10 via the same RSD process or OTA this 4.4.2 KitKat update.
My question is that can i unlock my bootloader and root the set after the mentioned KitKat update?
If Yes then please guide me to the right method to do so.

That build is not unlockable, it's the same as .94.1. You'll need to update to unlock.

Just make sure you update to .10 not .15 if you update to .15 you will be without root or boot loader unlock

[Q] Help me please!!

Good afternoon everyone , I am Brazilian and forgive my English gloogle translator. But yesterday wanted to install a custom rom on my phone (Motorola Razr M KitKat 4.4.2 ) , I did root it and installed an app called flashfly to flash a recovery , it rebooted and tried everything as you can imagine and not know what else to try. Here is a sense of how it is :

You can't install a recovery on a locked bootloader. You might need to reflash firmware to clear the boot failure.

Hi thank you for the help guys , I downloaded RSD Lite version 6.1.6 and reflash the rom kit kat 4.4.2 stock rom when I did not believe it because the process had already done everything as imagined , but it worked and that's what matters . Now how do the process of unlocking bootloader ? I reflash the stock rom 4.1.2 and then unlock bootloader ? I want to install the rom lollipop CM12?

What system version are you on? If it ends in .15, you cannot unlock the bootloader. If it ends in .10, root using TowelRoot and unlock with the Motopocalypse app.

I did, but even with the rom 4.4.2 ending in .15 can not downgrade to the stock rom 4.1.2 and then root and unlock the bootloader ?

No, you cannot downgrade a locked bootloader. You are stuck.

Till now there is no such method to have root without tripping Knox in Lollipop,
You can update from kitkat to lollipop using Mobile ODIN and have root with Knox 0x0...

Oh, I updated my Note using MOP and still running Kitkat Bootloader.
and I guess, Once bootloader is updated to Lollipop, then downgrade to Kitkat isn't possible.
If you try to downgrade you may get stuck in bootloop or null IMEI.

Apart from Bootloader, it is possible to downgrade from lollipop to kitkat without issues. (I can confirm because i have done this before).
My question was if I updated to lollipop and downgrade to kit kat again will the new bootloader trip knox to 0x1 when trying to root ?

How to check my bootloader? I have updated to 5.0.

No it won't trip Knox unless you flash something which is not officially signed from Samsung. Or unless you play with kernel and recovery.
@tahim. Download Samsung Phone Info app from playstore which shows all details of Note 3.
