Hi..
I found these icons from the new Frestyl Launcher...
they are 60x60 PNG Icons..
i want to convert them into 32x32 bmp Icons so i can use it with the new Clauncher V12.04..
Can someone please help?
here they are...
I donĀ“t know why you did not do it on your own.
Using a freeware gfx viewer/converter like XnView and this is done in one little step.
hey thanks.. but this isn't what i had in mind..
I actually used photoshop and resized it to 32x32x150 resolution and then save it as bmp file but it still has a White border around the icon...
then i tried to crop it .. which made it a bit better..
but i still have a problem with the gradient background from the png file...
dont know if I'm making any sense.. but basically..
the PNG icons have a gradient background and the Bitmap icons have a purple-ish background that seem to he transparent when its on windows mobile..
if someone know how to convert it with the purple background can you please show me how?
all replies are appreciated..
How are you getting the icons to display on the WM device?
I was led to believe that they needed to be in a .dll or a .exe "library" in order to be used as icons by Windows Mobile Devices.
Is this not correct?
PNG can be transparant, BMP can not be transparent unless the program that uses the BMP has a specific colorcode that it uses to make it transparent, and even then it cannot show faded transparency. Only 100% or 0%
(If this was what you are after)
I am using it for Claunch 12.04 .. I guess it allow you to use .exe, .dll, .cpl, and .bmp files as icons...
Okay here are the exsamples..
1st is the original PNG icons @ 60x60 (with the Gradient background)
2nd is the BMP done by Chistian72D @ 32x32 (with the White background)
3rd is an icon from an icon pack for Claunch (with the purple background)
the purple will blend in with whatever color you have on your windows background..
thats what I was looking for..
thanks again guys.. let me know if you know of a way to do this..
here is an easy way to do this
download "Irfanview" install and run it,
click "options", "properties", "viewing", "Choose" (main window color)
In the lower right quadrant of the color window enter values: red=255, green=0, blue=255
click "OK" then "OK" again. This will change the background color to the proper value for claunch.
Now open your pngs in Irfanview, resize them (click "Image", "resize/resample" or CTRL-R)
Then save as BMP.
The newly saved bmps will have the proper background color.
Good Luck
Hi there, im thinking about the issue that you cant use a background for all tabs in TF3D, so i am trying to find a solution for that.
We need to find out where in TF3D the XML definition of background tiling is, so we could deactivate that, and replace the manila background tile with a normal wallpaper.
What do you think?

That would be great, one of the most annoying things of TF3D is the background only works on the Today screen. I guess another option would be to find the graphic file within the manilla files that contains the default one. I have seen a couple themes where they have changed that default image, I think it was the Orange one.
added to thread subscriptions, maybe we can do this and it will be so much better!
Thanks, look at the Vodafone theme for example, there is a blank white background. Can we customize the original files like this just with a wallpaper?
I found out that there is a 2bd5bb26_manila (Background image only on O2 theme) in the o2 theme.
When we could use this manila file for other themes too, we would have solved the theme problem!
there's one thing i don't really understand here.
in the o2 default blue theme, the gradient background (for all the tabs) is saved as an image of the width of 1 pixel. i tried to substitute it with another, wider image, but it didn't work.
in the htc black theme, on the other hand, there's no direct image for the background, instead, only the tiles are coded somewhere as image files.
how does it work then, i mean how does manila know how the background is encoded, whether it's a 1px-wide image that needs to be stretched or a tile that fits onto the background "floor" or whatever else on other themes?
if we could find the place where it's encoded what (and how) manila uses for the background, then i guess we could play with it a little more
This is what i have found about the background question in TF3D...

I haven't had any more time on it .. but I think we have to wait until we can change the mania/GLES files...
I hope this can be done
I've been wondering if there's a way to add custom icons for third party apps in MIUI ROM. I know you can change icons of applications by opening the .apk and replacing the icon file inside but MIUI adds its own background for third party apps' icons. So my question is, how can I prevent MIUI from doing that?
The default icons seem to be located in the farmework-res.apk inside "drawable-hdpi-finger" folder. I tried adding new icons there and naming them to "icon_handcent.png" or "icon_handcent_sms.png" etc. but this didn't work.
And just to be clear I don't want any widgets like Desktop Visualizer or BetterCut to make new shortcuts. All of those apps make the new shortcuts as widgets and therefore they can't be added in the dockbar or inside folders.
Thanks in advance

I recon that if you create an icon that is exactly the same size as MIUI makes its icons then you wont be able to see the background it puts behind it.
What happens if you make an app's icon a black square that fills the whole png? Does it obscure any MIUI backgrounds?
ive been trying to add icons to this folder too but not had any luck. Im guessing it is contained in an xml telling the launcher to use those icons in the framework.res instead of the ones inside the apk itself.
Ive looked through a load of xmls in launcher and in framework but cant seem to find it anywhere.
On a side note i have read over on droidforums that by changing the icon for the apk contained in data/system/customized_icons then this will display the new icon of your choosing. So instead of placing your icon in the drawable_hdpi_finger folder, place them in there.

data/system/customized_icons
look here guys ^^^^^^^^
you will find all the miui generated 3rd party icons will be in there. Try replacing those (may need to wipe cache to apply, not sure)
and fyi the way miui makes icons is the same as iphone now. It uses icon_mask to limit the drawable size of the original icon, then applyies it on icon_pattern on top of icon_background, and finally places icon_frame over top of it all. all those files are found in framewrok-res.apk inside the drawable-hdpi finger folder
im trying to change the main icons not the customized ones. is there a folder for that? like settings and gallery icons.

Yes, in framework-res.apk there is a folder called drawable-hdpi-finger. All system apps have their icon in there. If you place your new icons in there then they will then be changed on the main screen.
What i still havent worked out is how to add icons in there for other apps such as handcent or dialerone.
i think the default_workspace.xml would need the app and package adding to it but i laso think there would be another step somewhere, not tried it yet.
wheres the framwork-res.apk located?
Is there a way to completely avoid this resize?

Is that the reason why MIUI resize the 3rd party app inside data/system/custom icons??
Is there a way to completely avoid this resize?
I have overwritten the background, for example, and now I have no unwanted background.
I can decide for the border, remove it the same.
But overwrite the icon_mask seems do not change the MIUI resizeing.
What have I to do?
Thank you in advance, to everybody who would help

I struggle finding this folder. Where is it?
I got this folder "system/customize" but no icons there. The "data" folder is empty.
Help please :3

How did you manage to overwrite the background? I found the customized_icons folder but just can't find the icon_background or icon_frame files on my system.
Help appreciated.

Can anyone extract the wallpaper of the blue theme similar to original flow theme?(it is different from others in terms of design)I loved wallpapers, but look bad in calender , messages!
For those missing notification bar, replace original systemUI.apk.

Hi !
I would like to extract the image of a live wallpaper, but I can't seem to find it.
Used apk tool to decompile the apk, and when I look for the image there's only a 256x256 thumbnail of the wallpaper in the res/drawable folder... How come ?
Another solution would be to modify the apk to make the wallpaper still instead of animated, but I don't know where to start. Is there a file I could modify to do that ?
Thanks a million for your help !
Cheers
It sounds like the wallpaper is generated entirely with an algorithm. Live wallpapers are actually special apps that run behind the icons.
A simple solution is to just take a screenshot of the wallpaper. You can select it in the Live Wallpaper picker and take a screenshot of it. Then, you can crop out the bottom area that has the Settings and Set Wallpaper buttons.
What wallpaper are you trying to take a still image of?
That's what I thought... Damn.
I tried to use a screenshot but it's not the same since it's smaller and can't cover the sliding effect. Better than nothing though.
I'm trying to get a still image of the "Holo Grid" wallpaper.
Thanks anyway
