Hiii .... Everyone I m presenting u a guide on Rooting ur phones running Android 5.0 Lollipop.
I m not to be held responsible for any damage caused to phone while flashing any of this files or following the rooting process. So proceed at ur own risk.
Ok i got u, some of u must be thinking Lollipop 5.0 is not yet out Officially so whats the rooting guide for ??
To clarify ur doubts. Let me explain U
1) Soak tests have been carried out by Motorola on Moto G XT 1064 ie..the USA retail version Single Sim Variant & even on XT 1068 (dual sim variant) (on few devices privately by Motorola).
2) So there needs to be a working Rooting method for upcoming Update or for some phones running the Soak test build.
3) Some of u might already have Lollipop 5.0 soak test build running on ur phone.
Thanks to @ffosilva for making Android Lollipop 5.0 work on XT 1068 (Dual sim phone).
4) ChainFire has released an AutoRoot config for our Moto G 2014 for some variants such as XT 1068 ( Dual Sim ), XT 1063 (Single Sim) , XT 1069 (may be working) (not confirmed yet)
And for XT 1064 (Single Sim USA Variant) ChainFire has not yet released the AutoRoot config.
5) But there is a rooting method for XT 1064 (USA single sim variant) Thanks to XDA member @savoca for his great work to make a modified boot.img to enable root for Android Lollipop 5.0 running on XT 1064 , which most of the phones are running right now as official build is not out yet.
Note :-Please take a note that XT 1064 & XT 1063 have different rooting methods.
Some guys must have flashed the XT 1064 (Single Sim Variant) firmware on their phone & got the Lollipop working on their XT 1068 & XT 1069.
So please take a note that those who have flashed XT1064 firmware & got Lollipop 5.0 working ..u need to root by @savoca 's method not by ChainFire AutoRoot config because ur phone is no more a XT 1068/69 its XT 1064 as u have flashed XT 1064 Reatilaws firmware on it.
Now straight to the point. Lets start the rooting process.
1] This method is for phones running XT 1064 as base Firmware on Lollipop 5.0 (XT 1068, XT 1069)
Pre-requisites :-
1) Unlocked bootloader (ofcourse ).
2) Running Android 5.0 Lollipop based on XT 1064 firmware ( USA Variant)
3) Cool & Calm head.
Steps:-
1) Enter Bootloader of ur phone (u should know that already how its done as u have already installed Lollipop 5.0)
Link to download Minimal ADB with Fastboot :-
http://goo.gl/J8i6wu
2) Flash the TWRP 2.8.0.1 titan v2 recovery or any other custom recovery via fastboot.
Link to download TWRP :-
http://goo.gl/VK78Lm
Code:
fastboot flash recovery TWRP_2.8.0.1_Titan_v2.img
3) Flash the modified boot.img provided by @savoca
Link to download Savoca boot img:-
http://goo.gl/yXlXLx
Code:
fastboot flash boot xt1064_lollipop_boot.img
4) Now boot into Recovery mode & flash the SuperSU.zip u can use the file from the link below or you can download the Super SU v2.1.9 by doing a Google Search or u can search for it on XDA as well. XDA member @Trublood_ has confirmed the v2.1.9 Super Su working . He has tested it successfully & found it stable without bootloops.
SuperSU v2.1.6
http://goo.gl/WzXAT4
5) Reboot.
And u are done. U have successfully rooted ur phone running Lollipop.
After rooting the boot up process may take a while around 8 minutes..so be patient.
It might also bootloop once or twice, so dont panic.
I myself have confirmed that this method is working perfectly.
Some essential Apps Tested & found working:-
1) Adaway ---> works flawlessly.
2) Titanium Backup ---> works partially (unable to restore backups).
3) ES File Explorer ---> works perfectly with root mode.
4) Root Explorer ---> works perfectly.
6) Link2Sd ----> Freezing & unfreezing Apps does not works. ( uninstalling system app works perfectly).
7) No Frills CPU Control & Trickster Kernel Settings & Mod works great.
8) About to check some more apps. ( If u find any other app working please inform i ll add it to the post & give credits ).
Will update shortly the rooting process for XT 1068 & XT 1063 based on ChainFire AutoRoot. As the Lollipop 5.0 update is not out Officially.
Press Thanks  If I helped
thanks man :good:

So maybe u have incomplete downloaded files.
Plzz check ur files..before flashing.

For those getting bootloop and don't want to reflash again, just wipe cache and dalvik cache and reboot. It wil boot up eventually, then you'll have to go to SuperSU and unroot. Everything wil be normal again...

Problem flashing recovery
Hello Team,
I am having problem flashing custom recovery on my Moto G Xt1068 (Android 5.0.2).
When I try to flash multiple recoveries like TWRP / CWP. Below is the result.
cmd: getvarartition-type:recovery
cmd: getvar:max-download-size
cmd: download:009e6000
cmd: flash:recovery
Above is the same result with all three recovery. CMD (command prompt) confirms as below.
s>fastboot.exe flash recovery CWM_Touch_Titan_v2.img
target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'recovery' (10136 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.344s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 0.297s]
finished. total time: 0.641s
Is there something wrong with filesize ??
When I try to go to recovery phone gets off. However it boots normally and loads my stock OS. If the recovery issue could be fixed, i can root my phone. I am stuck. Experts please advise !!

Which version of TWRP do you use? Like @doppelhelix wrote, the latest (and stable) is 2.8.5.0.
The filesize message is normal imho, because the filesize of every custom recovery isn´t equal to the stock one.
The process is finished without a "failed message" ,so you should be able to boot into recovery. Try "adb reboot recovery" in cmd and when you see the dead android you´ll have to press the following combination:
press the VOL UP + VOL DOWN KEY together + POWER KEY .
Use the VOL DOWN Key to SCROLL to Recovery and VOL UP Key to SELECT
Press the power button and tap the vol up button to enter recovery.

The version of TWRP in your guide is outdated and will not flash nandroid backups. If you try flashing a nandroid from this version of TWRP you will get stuck in a bootloop. It is not officially supported for the Moto G 2014. The official TWRP for out devices is v2.8.0.5. Please update the OP

Do you have UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip on it's own? I have installed GPE_5.1_XT1032_LMY47M.M001_CFC.xml.zip and TWRP as well seperatly but just need to root it. So just need that file not complete ROM

Hello,
Thanks for taking your time to create this.
I have already updated my moto G 1032 to lollipop 5.1 using a method as shown in the attachment.
Do i need to do the entire process again?
Maybe it's a stupid question but, will this work for the xt1034 version?
To be more specific and avoid future questions like this, does every rom for the xt1032 work for xt1034?
Thank you

Hi, I'm currently on 5.1 GPe with 41.19 stock Bootloader, no Root, just unlocked BL . I followed a Youtube video and everything runs great BUT.. i can't do factory reset on the device (must be done via fastboot).

Hello,
First things first: thanks for this great tool! I needed to restore the original firmware and didn't know how to do that. With this tool it's quite simple.
I had only two small problems:
- the first time I've run tour .bat file I seen several commands being executed, all of the m with an OK in the end, but after all process the phone didn't boot, no recovery also. I ran the .bat file a second time and it's OK now.
- another strange thing happened: the boot logo screen reverted to the "unlocked bootloader" screen.
A question: can I flash only the bootlogo screen via adb?

First things first: thanks for this great tool! I needed to restore the original firmware and didn't know how to do that. With this tool it's quite simple.
I had only two small problems:
- the first time I've run tour .bat file I seen several commands being executed, all of the m with an OK in the end, but after all process the phone didn't boot, no recovery also. I ran the .bat file a second time and it's OK now.
- another strange thing happened: the boot logo screen reverted to the "unlocked bootloader" screen.
A question: can I flash only the bootlogo screen via adb?

OEM Unlock needs to be done + Crom Service App must be installed & It should be enabled.
Download files from
http://www.needrom.com/download/twrp-for-c9-pro-sm-c900f/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
Flash SM-C900F_twrp-3.1.0-0.tar file using ODIN. I used Odin3-v3.11.1
This worked for me and I was able to boot to TWRP and flashed SuperSu.
Vol Up + Home + Power = TWRP Recovery
Vol Down + Home + Power = Download mode
Try at your own risk & Make sure you have a backup of the complete firmware ( 2.2 GB file ).
Errors when flashing the SuperSu were
Unable to mount \data and also \System
Not sure how to mount data and system.
TWRP is not allowing to mount. Some Dev has to work on this..
Try this for mount system .
It's in a9 pro forum .
No luck with the above file.
Cannot mount system & data.
Instead the phone went into bootloop & I had to flash the original firmware.
There are many issues with this Version of TWRP.
I will wait until a Developer works on the phone.
Have u try this
1. Flash twrp via Odin.
2. Boot in to twrp
3. In twrp format data
4. Flash super su zip
5. Flash ashyx provided zip Dr mount data
6. Reboot to system
---------- Post added at 04:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:45 PM ----------
Hope this will work 100 %
Yes. Tried that but cannot format data & cannot find internal partition nor files. Cannot unmount system or Cache.
Twrp will freeze when tried to reboot into recovery or system.
Many issues with this Version of TWRP.
Bad luck. . ..so waiting is still on
I have successfully rooted my device...despite many problems .. will update you soon.

Hello xda developers this is my second thread sorry for the first one that i made yesterday, I am having a problem with my lenovo k4 note a7010a48
after rooting successfully I proceed to flash rr 7.1.2 but did not flash the gapps now my problem is how to go back on recovery mode to start over again
I already used the power button followed by the volume up down buttons but it is not working like before it is nougat. I only need to get to recovery mode. Please help and thankyou in advance. More power
Does u have root access now and which version of rr u flashed
yes the phone is rooted already and flashed with rr 7.1.2 only need to open recovery mode which is I have no idea
Contact in telegram app 9032015333 I will tell u
i dont know that or how to do that can you teach me please thank you
I have the same issue. Can't enter into recovery and the phone is unable to start.
Same Issue || Don't Know How To Fix
Hi,
I am searching for a possible solution from a day. But could not find a working solution.
After successfully flashing RR-N-5.8.5 (Android N)
Unable to go into recovery.
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
1. When Press Vol Up + Vol Down + Power Up
2. Recovery is not loading up
3. Instead it goes in boot loop
4. Normal boot mode and fast boot mode are working perfectly fine
SOLUTIONS TRIED:
1. Flashing recovery again using fastboot mode
2. Flashing different recovery, i.e updated version of recovery
As all recoveries which were available were for marshmallow version. I am not sure but have doubt as android version is updated so the kernel so do recovery also become obsolete in this case ?
Any help is welcome and appreciated
Thanks

Hi Developers,
Is it possible to reset the phone at hardware level? I can't even connect the phone to PC as it keeps on rebooting.
Please note: upgraded to Nougat and wanted to do the second recovery as suggested by mohancm in the post. When the phone rebooted (before flashing the second recovery), the problem started.
Please let me know if any one has a fix/workaround for the issue.
Thanks,
Srihari
1.Download TWRP recovery unzip files.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1CKVcdcbHFPUzFCODVMN0ZfTW8/view
2.Now in folder TWRP\img\ there is the file recovery.img.
3.Download the second recovery for nougat recovery-Nougat.img and put in the TWRP\img folder.
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298981920
4.Rename it as the original, recovery.img and replace it.
5.Then connect your phone to usb and select the 3th option from usb debugging message
"Transfer photos(ptp)"
6.run TWRP_Install.bat from TWRP folder
And you are done, had the same problem and I figure this solution, hope it will help.
I cannot locate the transfer photos(ptp)
ok I already done the part I am now on the recovery mode thanks. new problem of mine is after flashing the rom gapps and recovery after reboot it goes back to recovery mode did I miss something on flashing?
ok so i already passed this problem thanks for the help xda community thank you very much but I have this bootloop problem maybe I did a mistake flashing before rebooting sorry i am a noob in this kind of upgrade specially in mobile phones. I will be careful next time after I passed this problem I hope you will help me once again, my phone in bootloop is killing me.
I have same issue... I flashed gapps and my phone is working smoothly... The issue is i can't go into recovery mode... I tried some one tap reboot to recovery apps but all whats happening is phone restarting normally.
For those who can't access recovery mode. You were supposed to flash updated recovery image after flashing rrn rom.
Enter into fastboot mode by using adb shell.
Flash the updated recovery image
Now try rebooting into recovery.
Should work.
Worst case, restore by flashing stock rom using SP flash tools. And then start all over again.
If you face any issues ping me. Even I had faced this issue and fixed it after a lot of struggle. I can try to help you.
Or you could download Official Twrp App directly from play store, then find A3000 (Air Row) in 'select device' and flash that to recovery, (if your phone is rooted) then you are good to go, go to recovery mode and thats all, your twrp is now has been flashed.
Thank me later??

This really worked for me. Many thanks man.
Well it got me some time to find the right recovery image for my ROM so I decided to give you link for anyone going through the same.
My configuration at that time was: DotOS 1.2 and TWRP 3.1.1 (or so).
On the DotOS thread was enclosed link to wrong recovery image file (or its version was changed as of 28.12.2018) but after small investigation I found this file recovery-mohan-N.img.
Note: This recovery worked for TWRP and Android Nougat and I'm not an expert to suggest this will work for your case either.
Thank you again and have a nice time

This was a long time ago now and I've since changed device. However, I seem to remember having to switch back to the original Chinese ROM and starting again. It allowed me to install the correct version of TWRP I think. But if you do go back, make sure you don't lock your device again like I did. I think there's a checkbox on the program that you have to use to put the Chinese ROM back on and you need to make sure it's ticked. Sorry if I'm not of much help but it was so long ago now that it's hard for me to remember.

These were the notes that I left myself:
After boot, go into Fastboot and flash recovery 3.2.3-1217 twrp
Using this, wipe everything apart from bottom box on advanced wipe. Do twice, reboot once in the middle.
Flash EU rom. Do the wipe it promts after install and boot up.
Then use fastboot to flash recovery TWRP-EU, and flash magisk (canary build) to keep twrp installed.
I'm not sure what version this TWRP-EU is, so I've just uploaded it to Google Drive for you here.
Hope this helps.
