Hey guys.
I have a Tab 7", rooted, which has 8 GB of internal storage.
I have an SD card but I'm a bit at a miss on how to install the apps completely on the card.
I see I have 2.15 GB for System ROM (with 191 MB free) and 5.06 GB (2.90 GB free) for the Internal+Media partition.
Apps are installed on System ROM or Internal+Media? I assume it's System ROM, since the OS has been denying to install very small applications.
So, my question is how can I get more space to install apps?
Any way to install an app directly to the SD Card? Maybe the only choice it to repartition?
Thanks!
Hi,
Normally you cannot install anything in 'system' (but since you have root you can move apks to system). Apps get installed to a partition called /data/ on the internal memory. If you have more than 2gb free and you cannot install apps it means there is something wrong. Repartitioning is very dangerous. Its very easy to brick you device doing that. Have you patched/cracked apps?
i'll probably get kicked out o this forum but, you can try a system cleaner. I was running out of space on my tab two and dumped a ton of space that way. If you have root you can remove a bunch of space hogging crap that you don't use.

Hi what I meant is the system to read my sdcard as my internal memory. By modifying vold.fstab
I wouldnt recommend that but its possible.
The reason i dont recommend it is because what if your sd cadd stops functioning

I own a hd2 with the lates nand hyperdroid rom, and a a2sd partition on my 16 gig sd card.
Now, my phone's memory is full at the moment. I cant even update my current apps due to low memory. So I deleted 5 apps worth of 4 mb. However i can't still update for example the shazam app, which is a 1,5 mb upgrade.
Now, my questions are.
1. If I delete 4 mb worth of apps, why can't I still update the shazam app? 4-1,5 would mean I have 2,5 mb left, right?
2. Second, how can updating apps cost so much memory. Sometimes I need to deleted a few apps in order to update some apps to the newest version. I assumed a new app version wouldn't cost a lot of extra memory.
3. in titanium backup I see there is 28,9 of system rom, 26,3 of internal memory and 800 mb of a2sd left. How come it says memory is full?4
4. Is there a solution to installing more apps?
I'm sorry if my questions are a bit vage, but it's just frustrating that I cannot install the apps I want.

try going into settings and than applications than manage it should show you a list under downloaded. go into some of your apps you downloaded not widgets or important things that you use like button savior cause they wont wont when on sd card. youll see an option to move to sd card move it wait for it to say move to phone than its complete do that to a couple of apps then try to update the app, but take shazaam out of sd card if its there then try to upgrade it if it doesnt work. or back up all your apps than reflash.

Hi,
I noticed when I moved apps to my sd card using SuperBox,that it moved the app,but left the data on the phone.
If you have apps with large amounts of data(saves, etc.),these will be causing your problem.
Try using root Explorer or something similar and look into the cache folder. Apk files that you download from market are saved there sometimes. You can delete them there. You also can move your dalvik to sdext. Easiest way is a2sdgui.

Wait... what??? For real?
This would effectively prevent me from using OmniROM ever.
Are you saying it's a bug, or that the feature has truly been eliminated going forward?
Security and file system changes have caused certain "move app to external storage" scripts and apps to fail. This is not an Android-level issue.

Do you know then, is there a way to fool apps to install at least their data on external card?
On N7100 there is mere 10GB of space, install 2 gameloft games, and phone cries it's out of storage space. And I have 64GB card, 128GB on its way.
I understand they cry for FAT32's lack of permission support, but what If I format the card in ext4?
Or could I possibly swap internal and external card (I, of course, understand it's risky and dangerous action).
I haven't looked into it yet, but this might help.

That's not the issue here.
I can read/write on both sdcards (emulated and physical).
Problem is that internal space runs out quickly, and there is no obvious way to force apps to use external card instead of emulated.
I.e. If I install Nova 3 (3.5 GB), Asphalt 8 (3.7 GB) and Galaxy on Fire 2 (1.2 GB), uce omnirom system update and make couple of photos, I'm out of space, and can't even update apps through google play, because it requires alot of extra space, not even mention i.e. recording a video. And my 64GB card sits useless in its slot.

If you are rooted you can accomplish this by using an app called folder mount. When you open the app use the add button at the top right name the folder, for example (RR3) for real racing, then tap the source button and navigate to the folder the app data is stored in, for games usually android/data or android/obb chose that folder and leave the destination folder name the same, it will prompt you so just chose yes, press the check button at the top right and then wait for the folder to be moved, you can monitor the progress in the status bar, it may take some time if it is a large game or app, when it is complete simply press the mount button in the folder mount app then go back and play your game. to verify that the folder was moved successfully check your internal storage in android settings before and after you use folder mount. Make sure before you use the app or game you have the folder mounted or you may get an error or in the case of real racing the game tried to redownload all the game assets. Hope this helps.
thank you
Guys, I'm trying to move my games to my External SD card since I've got only 1gb left of my internal, but when I try to do it just from the Application Manager inside Settings, it only moves a few megabytes (X-Com Enemy Unknown has 3.7gb and moved to SD 60mb of it, awesome...)
I'm rooted, using X-Note 13, knox tripped 2 minutes after getting inside the house with the phone, I don't care about warranty or stuff, just... Could someone provide a fix, please? Tried App2SD, Link2SD and other apps like this, but it seems all they do is just move provide me with a shortcut to the same Application Manager from Settings that does the same useless thing. I didn't get a 64gb sd card to move 60mb out of 3.7gb from a game, seriously...
I think it depends on the programing of the game what can be moved and what not. Some programs can't be moved at all, but most of the big games I have, large portions of the data was moved to SD card during the install all by itself. If you just purchased the card, maybe reinstalling the game from start would give you better results, if that was an option? Also it seems to me you're using close to 25 GB of internal storage but you only mention one game, surely you must have many other large programs installed, what about them? There are some programs that can fool the system into "thinking" your external SD card is internal memory and your internal memory becomes external, but I don't have details ATM, also this could create problems if your SD card went bad.
And maybe you should take a hard look and see if you really need all those programs? If I didn't keep the tabs and clean all the junk, delete less frequently used programs etc. on regular basis, 96GB of memory wouldn't be enough either LOL.
I mentioned just one game as an example. I have quite a lot of space-hungry games, such as Bard's Tale, Modern Combat 4, Gangstar 4, Amazing SpiderMan2, etc...a total of around 40 games, mostly large games, and I have basically moved everything I could from Application Manager, yet it moved very very very little out of them. I tried deleting and reinstalling them, formatting my sd card, reflashing the rom from scratch with fresh sd, basically same thing every time. I got this phone to be able to have a mobile console with me that can also receive calls (boring job, games on phone help a lot), and now my sd seems so pointless
Internal Memory 26.3gb - 1.2gb free
Ext SD Card 59.0gb - 42.6gb free
bump, please?
The only app that worked for me is FolderMount [ROOT].
RinaldiMe, thanks a lot man, I just bought that app, testing it now, but from it's description, it should do exactly what I hope . It requires individual move of each app and folder, but it does the trick, thank you so very much
Will come back with replies as soon as I move 5-10 apps and test it out more
L.E.: Nope, bought the app, not just the free version, moved some files, still didn't work, apps just thought they didn't have their files and wanted to redownload...
Back to square one

I'm assuming your on kk bootloader and dunno if Mattiadjs int2extsd mod will work on 4.4, but I've been using his script meant for JB 4.3 that switches where the huge data and obb files are stored to your extsd instead of internal storage.
Try checking the galaxy s4 thread for the kk mod, I'll try looking too and post a link for ya. I know what your going thru as I have over 500+ apps/games and needed the 128gb SanDisk to store all my obb/data files along with pics and mp3 media.
Here's the link to the kk int2extsd mod

Any luck with that link I sent you, it's really easy to use as you just flash it in recovery. Your rom and kernel need to support init.d and it only works on TouchWiz roms.

Restoring a backup now, hoping it'll work. Basically it still saw my internal sd as internal sd, but it didn't see my card properly anymore (and yes i did check the exfat or fat32 version to use)
Are you tried App2sd?

Read op instructions. You have to put the same name folder both internal and external. Example: titanium backup. Both of internal and external must have the same name and caption.
Put all the titanium backup data in external titanium backup folder.
Leave titanium backup folder in internal empty.
Run the app, and select the correct path.

assume u r note r rooted...install Xposed installer, then download a module obb on sd , enable it at the modules after downloading and installing, reboot and them move any game obb data from the note internal memory to the SD after creating folder Andriod/obb at sd
working at my note 9005 4.4.2 echoerom v19
I have rooted with vroot to help gain more useable internal storage, and now I have much less. I would like to know how to reduce the amount of system data used for internal storage. I know there is not much development for the 7.0 so any advice is appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me how to get Foldermount to work when there is not enough internal storage space for the obb files. It seems you have to install to internal then use foldermount to move to external. Thanks in advance.
I have a tab 4 7' 8g sm-t230nu, but I cant root mine. Vroot never worked. How did you root yours?
You have to remove the august update 1st. DL the May kernel from sammobile.com and use odin. There is a thread on how to do it.

Yup, it should install to internal storage first. Click the add button and select where the obb files are in and then select the destination at where you want them (should be in: /storage/extSDcard/Android/obb/). The app will then move the files to the destination and trick the tab that they are in the internal storage. If you cant install Foldermount, try to delete cache and if that doesn't work remove any apps you dont use. System apps can be turned off and you will gain some space in return. Move as many apps to sdcard using the Settings app. If you still can't do it, I suggest you:
1) Backup Apps and Data
2) Remove Apps
3) Install apps with large obb files
4) Move data using foldermount
5) Reinstall apps you removed with the space you have left.
6) ????
7) Profit
You may noticed that settings will go crazy saying you have used more storage than you have available (example: 12 out 8 GB used). Don't worry about that, it shouldnt affect you at all

You don't have a problem with the internal memory. You're simply encountering a normal occurrence, as not every app supports moving its data to the MicroSD card. Since your list of apps doesn't support being moved to the MicroSD the only way to clear storage is to uninstall the apps. You may of course try apps to SD card options, but I'm not sure how well they will work on Android 5.x.

To move the app data from internal storage would be to break the app itself. You don't want that.
Humor me here. Are you rooted, and are you using a custom recovery? If you are, which recovery?

at the first place i want to restore my space back
yeah , my phone is rooted and am using omega v28 5.0.1 rom
with custom recovery , TWRP 2.8.7.0 touch recovery
I just wanted to make sure you weren't using Clockworkmod or Philz, as those are notorious for eating internal storage. If you want to restore the lost space, you have to uninstall the apps. It's either that or you learn to live with it until Android 6.0 custom ROMs are made available for your device. Android 6.0 allows you to merge internal and external storage so that Android sees the two as a single volume, and that definitely would eliminate your problem.
Oh dear oh dear
ok thanks bro any way , i will try to live with it
