Throw the cables and buy new one. Some of the USB cables are not proper wired and wires are in bad quality.

Well that has happened for me, but since yesterday im not being able to transfer data even with de original usb cable. has this happened to anyone else?
There are some cables that are charge only. Can you post a link.
GALAXY NOTE
I'm using the original cable that came with the note but somehow only charges! it doesn't even do that usb sound when plugged, tried restarting the phone and KIES doesn't detect it either..
This is happening after yesterday the phone started saying it was having a charging/unplug LOOP (constantly vibrating) even with the cable off. this was fixed removing the battery :/
Edit 1#
i am also being unable to plug the phone via mass storage usb, it asks me to plug the usb cable and then nothing..
Edit 2#
So i confirm it's now fixed, i tried to unplug again the battery and also cleaned the usb connector of the phone with a toothbrush.. one of those fixed the problem. now I'm just crossing fingers it won't happen again :/

[Q] USB connection to PC not working after root

Hi,
I've got a rooted stock 4.2.1 N10 here, the USB connection to any PC is no longer working. When I plug it in the charging icon on the tablet appears but nothing else happens.
Tried different cables, different ports, different computers. Have disabled/enabled debugging options and storage type of the tablet PTM/MTP.
I'm hopeful the port on the tablet is still working as OTG cable and pen drives work fine.
Any help or suggestions our there for me?
Cheers
I have similar problem. I cannot enter to nexus from windows after rooting.
Install the right drivers.
Or it could be in a couple incredibly rare circumstances that are not at all likely, that your USB cable is broken and the data pins are able to connect. But you probably have a driver problem.

Is the USB 3 cable that came with the Note 3 OTG capable?

So far I had no luck accessing external memory using the cable that came with the Note 3 as well as with USB 2 cable that work on my Note 2. Neither showed up under own files or the ES-Explorer. Is there something I need to activate or overlooked on the Note 3?

I have had strange results using the USB 3 mode not seeing some file but then switching to USB 2 and can see them. All with the USB 3 cable. I think it is PC driver related. Cant nail down anymore yet.

The NTFS formatted drives wont work with OTG, so u need drives formatted using FAT32 system..
No one uses them nowadays but OTG only seem to work with them
No, the cable that comes with the phone is only for connecting to the phone as a device. I would have expected the OTG cable that worked with your Note 2 to work just fine with the Note 3.
As for buying a USB 3 OTG cable to use with the phone, I wouldn't bother. I've done a lot of testing and haven't been able to get the phone to connect to a device at USB 3.0 speed.
Here is some more info on what I've tried. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2599045

S4 i9505 USB acting up

Hey, I've had this problem with my s4 since I bought it used, but it hasn't bothered me that much, but I'm just curious.
The USB isn't acting as it should be, when I connect it to the pc, it doesen't always work as storage the first try, I have to connect it twice sometimes, pc says not recocnized device, but when I reconnect, it works properly.
Also, it doesen't charge with the charger it came with, and doesen't work with most of the chargers, only works with Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 charger.
I usually charge it off USB on pc, because I don't have the Galaxy Tab available most of the time.
Is this something that can be fixed via software, or is it faulty?

USB Type-c port : bugged or broken ?

Hello guys, here is the bug I experience
First of all i'm sure the cable isnt guilty as I tried two different cables, with one of them being new, getting the same result/bug
Whenever I plug something to my usb type-c port, it can ONLY and ONLY charge !
When i plug the phone to a PC, it won't recognize a phone is plugged ! It charges, but I don't have the window where u can choose between MTP, Charging,...
Of course I have enabled : USB Debugging, and switched from "Charge" to "MTP" in dev options
Even the USB otg doesn't work (with "OTG stockage" enabled ofc)
From times to times I could connect the pc to the OP5, but by plugging / unplugging the cable like 20 times... And now it's worse as it doesnt work at all !
It used to work perfectly in the past , is it possible the system can bug to the point this bug appears ? Is the type-c port broken ?
I have the same problem, the USB port can only do slow charging. It doesn't connect to PC/Mac and doesn't dash charge either. Taking it to service center as i'm pretty sure it's a hardware issue with the USB port.
Try downloading OnePlus USB drivers on pc you connected device to. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298966498

MTP should work without those.
No it's not an issue with the drivers. The phone used to get detected fine and would do dash charge properly earlier, it suddenly stopped working.
I visited the service center, they confirmed my suspicion, it was an issue with the USB port module. A hardware issue where some of the pins on the USB module stopped working for reason, and as a result phone wouldn't receive connection from the cable. They replaced the module for me and the phone works properly again.
