[Q] Headphone volume LOW in grand 2!!??? - Galaxy Grand 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am Using sony mdr xb450 headphones for my laptop and mobile. I came across that in grand 2 it doesn't work at its full potential.
sound is low and bass is barely there. i heard from one of the forums of galaxy s4 that samsung restricts impedance upto 14 ohm.
Please anyone help to increase the impedance level

Galaxy note headphone sound loudness.

Its not just the galaxy note but galaxy's in general. They're not very loud with 3rd party headphones.
I've just tested the some sennheizer and and a pair i-grado headphones the sound is clear but its not loud.
Compared to my mates iPhone 4s it sounds crap.
Forget all the dsp boosters etc they're all crap.
Funny thing they're perfectly loud with the sumsang stock earphones
What ahsame to a great phone.

It depends on the impedance of the phones. With my 16Ohm Sennheiser IE-8 it's loud enough, but the sound quality is not great, the noise is quite high. With my better phones, higher impedance, it's barely audible, but such phones need an amp anyway.
I'd say the sweet spot must be around 32 Ohms with this phone, loud enough, and probably not such noisy.
what app are you using? for some of them you'll need to enable direct volume control to get the full volume.

The headphone smell cheap to me, with the irksome plasticky smell. So does it work well?

this works well if you have cans that need an amp.
Or this, seems a bit better

I have Sennheiser 70 Ohms and Galaxy note is able to drive it. The sound is not very high but enough to hear music in very good conditions...
Clearly my Cowon J3 is not more loud with this headphone.

The first thing I noticed is that this phone and the Infuse sounded not too loud. My Zune HD goes much louder with regular cans (not buds).
I think they must have some kind of volume limiter on these phones to protect hearing so as to not have legal issues. The problem is not everyone uses those efficient, but crappy, buds supplied the phone
I did find a setting in power amp that helps a bit though. Try that.

It better and if memory serves me right, the Yamaha in the Note I sounded better than the one in the GS2, because the Note was larger. Let's hope for Wolfson with even better sound than the GS3, due to more room in the Note II.
Thank You for making this thread
Edit: Yes. I've just received confirmation from an anonymous source, that it has a WM1811
..
Can't wait!
Cool!
Sound Quality should be quiet decent with Wolfson WM1811.

Just pre-ordered my Note 2, will post impressions on SQ when it arrives, as per usual
Hoping to get some time with it before retail release too, but don't know how that will pan out.

As an iPhone 4S owner that listens thru high end iems i'm really looking forward to your impressiones. Especially now that iPhone 5 has turned out to be a slight step back over 4/4S. It might be time for switching...

"Audio output is perfectly clean, but on the quiet side
The Samsung Galaxy Note II obviously shares many of its music playback-related internals with the Galaxy S III as it managed to aced our audio quality test in a similar manner to its more compact sibling.
The only average volume levels aside, the Galaxy Note II results came out perfect in the first part of our test. When connected to an active external amplifier, the phablet produces excellently clean output with no weak points whatsoever.
Even more impressively, stereo crosstalk is the only thing to get damaged when we plugged in a pair of headphones. On that occasion the Note II produced one of the cleanest outputs we have seen from a mobile device and that includes the recently tested Apple iPhone 5."
The volume levels are worrying. I figure a large device like this with all it's juice should be able to drive most off the shelf earphones well.
I have the S3 and it is ok, but still the 4S beats it for music playback. And still no Voodoo for the S3.
In any event I've ordered the Note and I suppose if it is not what I hope for it will be easy to sell quickly.
got mine today
an improvement in sound quality compared with the Note 1 but not very impressed with maximum loudness with earphones (Monster Turbine Coppers)
The Loudspeaker is a massive improvement and is nearly as loud as my macbook pro 15!!

Tried one in store yesterday. The audio thru my Westone UM3x was quite decent but i could not assess the output power properly since i don't know the intrinsic loudness of the preloaded tune.
The usual Android background hiss was there and switching back and forth with an S3 running ICS it had the same level. Thus that rumours about Jelly Bean improving the audio engine have not turned out to be fulfilled for the moment.
Overall i'd rate is a 3.5-4 star headphone out (Out of 5) depending on the output power. Still not on par with the iPhone 4/4S (which is the benchmark for handset headphone outs) but it's an step in the right direction. Linearity was pretty damn good
It's early days with my note 2 but I have power-amp installed & so far I'm finding the S3 sounds better, maybe the Note 2 DAC needs running a bit.
Hopefully then It'll be just as good
The FM radio still has the horrid back ground hiss & buzz that is present on the S3. This is a little disappointing.
Got mine yesterday, sound quality is good but low which is absolutely not to my liking.

It would help to assess the output power if users quote the headphones they are using. In order to discern which sensivity & impedance are no gos with that handset.
Remember that the UK and European Union have laws that limit the headphone volume (Volume Limit Cap) in music players and mobile phones.. That is why the headphone volume of these EU notes are quieter than the US phones.

Is anybody using balanced armature iems experiencing low sound pressure levels ?
As for UE regulations it seems that they do not apply to Apple. iPhone 4S can go really really loud. And my old iPhone 3GS cpuld as well.
Why is it Samsung caps the headphone out and Apple does not ?

Viper4Android VS Fiio E6

I am using Viper on my nexus 4 and planning to buy Fiio E6. Will it make difference ? I mean I am already getting much more improved sound quality (and loudness too) using viper. I never had used Amp so I am not quite sure the difference I will be getting. I use Philips SHL3300 Headphone. Plz Help!!

i did a small research about amps BUT i have no amp to speak of. as far as my research goes, what i understand is that if you have headphones with high impudence (mostly expensive headphone in that department) or a headphone that is underpowered it will make a difference. with regular headphones i don't think you will see any noticeable difference except maybe bass and higher sound output. i would suggest to go to headfi forums and ask oyur question there. they will know. if i remember correctly there is a thread about your headphones, i read a review there when i was in the market for headphones.
P.S. there is a nice review on the fiio e6 and what can do and what you can except on headfi. the best forum for audiophile.

Noise Cancelling headphones not working well.. maybe something in settings?

Hello guys,
I recently just bought the samsung s7 edge, I tried using my noise cancelling headphones (Sony MDR-NC31E) by sony. I got it with my previous phone (xperia z2). For some reason the headphones does not work well. Like when i play music, I hear the actual music but the lyrics seems far off, when on calls I can hear very slightly. I tried fiddling the settings, enabled the UHQ Scaler. Still of no use.
Is this a compatibility issue?
Thanks for the help, appreciate it.
Sorry to say , they are just not compatible with S7E. have the same pair of NC earphones. Jack config is different.
Sorry for the delayed reply. Thanks a lot for your help. Do you recommend any decent headphones for the s7e?
Not too expensive around let's say £20?
Get headphones with lower impedance or an amp to get the headphones working
whatever headphones u get the sound the GS7 gives (specially compared to sony phones) will be crap, because they use the 820/exynos chip to process sound, and sony itself says their noise cancelling earphones are just for their selected phones
I have and use the Samsung Level On Pro. Its compatible for obvious reasons plus it has an app for more audio tweaking.
I've had 5 Sony android phones. The sound is no where close to what the S7E can produce.
Stock or with sound mods installed on all devices, clarity bass & mid are brilliant.

What he said... those headphones ONLY work with particular Sony smartphones with build int noise cancelling circuitry. They are useless for any other smartphone, Samsung or no Samsung.

Audio on jack any good?

I am very happy with my HTC 10 for the powerful an clear Audio output it gives on the 3.5mm jack, DAC and AMP are very nice, the s8 is a damn sexy phone but if the audio volume and quality are still not on par with HTC...
It will be Exynos version (for my country)
Testet the ekg eraphones with s8 and after that with htc m8. Hands down the htc was supperior. Sound was verry good on s8 but...man the htc has a powerfull Dac.
Damn sammy!
They will never learn how to please audiophiles?
And htc is gonna ditch the 3.5mm jack this year :crying:
Edit: Now that Root is done on Exynos, anyone tried V4A to boost the volume?
I have the Exynos S8+ and still using my HTC 10 for audio as the S8 just isn't anywhere near loud enough Phone is awesome though
I have tge s8 and had the s7 edge before that and never ever noticed any issues with the audio. How loud do you like it to be? I am using skullcandy and have to say on max volume can't cope for long. Are you sure that your settings are correct. Noticed tgat Performance mode should be on to have a proper sound.
