Help! needed. Battery backup problem. Fed up doing tinkering. - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
I got myself VS 980 used. I liked the phone a lot. The only issue I am having is battery backup problem. Phone hardly give more than 18 hrs battery backup, does not matter if I use it or keep it in idle state. I have tried many ROM's but no use. Tried to check wakelock and found many wakelock in stock ROM's specially in G3 port ROM's. So yesterday I flashed LiquidSmooth Milestone 3.2 with kernel B14CKB1RD expecting amazing battery life like others in the ROM thread but the result was not as expected, still the battery is not giving proper backup. This ROM seems very clean I did not find many wakelocks. I am not able to understand where is the problem. In deep sleep also its using battery. The phone is in airplane mode always, I only use it with wifi. I will be very happy if someone can help me out. Attaching the battery status. Let me know if you guys need anything else from my side.
Regards,

I'm having the same problem!! That weird battery drain started out of nowhere, I've blocked all wakelocks using amplify and Greenify but still the best screen on time I'd get is 4h:10m!! :\ I don't think it's the battery because I've seen a lot people are having it now.. Really really weird

Guys any help on this. Still having the same issue after trying more ROM's and now I have also downgraded the baseband to 12b as well but no improvement

Need advice about battery drain

Hey everyone, I purchased the 6P a week ago and I really don't understand the battery in this thing.... I'm coming from LG G3 which never faced battery drain during stand by. I am not even using the 6P (still haven't migrated from the G3) because of the unreasonable battery drain during sleep, I have WiFi always on and (no I don't accept to turn it to Never during sleep) I never did this with any phone anyway, my G3 doesn't lose more than 1-2% during the whole night (7 hours).
Please take a look and tell me if this makes any sense because I'm thinking of returning the thing if it's not just a software issue:

Taken today, phone left untouched at home.
Battery life is really hit or miss, many lose 0-3% during the night while others like yourself lose a ton. Try changing your WiFi to either 2.4GHz only or 5GHz only, as some found that helps out. Custom kernels can also control WiFi wakelocks, and I've found running Franco kernel does a great job at helping standby life.
How's the signal strength from within your home? Having a weak cell signal can assist in battery drain. However that's some serious drainage. I'm thinking you have one or more wakelocks preventing the phone to deep sleep. If you're rooted, greenify is a must. It has boosted my battery life by a ton. I would also try to get some more battery stats applications. Better battery stats was/is my favorite app but I'm not sure its working on MM

Although it is not convenient to switch between the 2 bands ( Work is on 2.4GHz and Home is on 5GHz) but I will try it to see if it helps any.
Do you think this will be fixed with software update? and is it because Android M or because 6P on Android M?

Signal strength is fine at my home ( never faced an issue with G3).
I haven't installed anything that can hog battery like that, I only set-up Email, Hangouts to Sync, I never used Greenify or any battery saving apps ( The battery should last as advertised with it's standard capacity), i'm not asking for a magical battery life, just what's expected of a 3450 mAh.
I'll post Sambatterystats results shortly.
See if WiFi scanning is turned off
Many say the battery drain issue really spiked with the update to Android 6.01. So it appears to be SW related, and not HW, FWIW.
I found my fix is as Geoff53 said above, install a custom kernel (Kylo in my case). And I use Greenify on top of it. Great battery life now.

I hope it's just the 6.0.1 .. because I really would hate to return it..
Well, I'd go as far as flashing a custom ROM if that would completely solve the problem, not just the Kernel.
I initially had bad batter drain, not now. Unplug 6:30 am and 10pm still have 45%. Use to be dead by 7pm. I found the culprits were bad apps that I thought were OK. Ebay, Amazon, Facebook, ESPN, Waze.... when I deleted these and a few more, then rebooted all was good. Haven't tried putting them back though. I leave GPS, WIFI, blue tooth... all on. Even have 3 mail apps all set to "push." I don't twitter though.
Make a back up with Titanium or MyBackup, factory wipe and reset and see if your battery improves with only basic apps and mail. Bet it's bad apps. If improves slowly add apps until you find the culprit.

In my opinion, the " Bad App" theory is getting a bit out of hand. I installed the same apps as on my G3 (never had a bad app on it) , and 6P has been factory reset and insatlled nothing at all, only logged into gmail and hangouts, and I tried with the (WiFi during sleep set to never ) then the drain is not as bad anymore but I lost realtime push notifications which is unacceptable.
Now if believe there are so many "bad apps" then we can have the Doze which is supposed to minimize app drain if not terminate it, but that's not the case here obviously, so I think it's actually specific WiFi bug on Android M and not bad apps.

[Help] Battery Drain issue in One Plus One

Hello Experts,
My Battery is draining like crazy. I tried almost everything to figure out what is the issue but could not figure out. Below are the details I gathered from the things I tried.
My battery started draining almost 30 % overnight. Initially I thought it was due to the Unofficial Marshmallow Rom, I could see Wi-Fi to be cause of this drain. Hence I tried different Roms (Cyanogen Mod, PA, DarkObas, Sultan ROM, and stock Cyanogen OS ( Past 3 versions, including latest one). but the battery drain didn't stop.
So I decided to flash PA rom again, installed OpenGapps PICO (Only Google play service nothing else). I installed CPU spy and left it over night in Airplane mode. When I checked in the morning (after 7 hours) battery drain was of 25 %. This was surprising as nothing was running on my phone and only the minimum apps were installed. At this time, CPU spy showed no abnormal wake locks and was in Deep Sleep for almost 93% of the total time. The stock battery usage showed only Mobile Stand by and usage of 50 mAh.
Can you please help me figure out what is causing the battery drain.

Did you try to disable Location>Scanning>Wi-Fi scanning & Bluetooth Scanning? I had a similar situation and started using amplify + greenify on Resurrection Remix and now I have a very good battery life...

Thank you for your reply.
Yes I already tried that. The strange thing is Battery drain is observed in Airplane mode also, while minimum apps installed(Stock apps with PA rom and Opengapps Pico package). Do you have any other suggestions.
It's really hard to judge what could be your issue, you can try different methods to find out who is the actual culprit.May be an app eating your battery or device might have nasty wakelocks, alarms etc or the battery itself would be damaged etc.
Anyways,Turn off ambient display, install BetterBatteryStats then run a full cycle and analyze entire stats of your battery, you'll get know the issue or at least a clue. If you couldn't find out the issue after BetterBatteryStats test then clean flash the a ROM(Recommends CandySix or Darkobas ) w/o GApp and give it a try
Firmware
Try a different firmware version. Here's a link :

Sounds like your battery cannot hold its charge anymore.
How old is your OPO? May be your battery life is about to over.
And this battery drain suddenly started or gradually increased?
Try diagnosing by changing the Location settings to device only. It's some weird bug with COS and CM that's making it to the latest builds of 6.0.1 . I saw that older builds in May don't have this problem.

Thank you for the reply and sorry for the delayed response. I was getting New Battery
Unfortunately, Problem still exists even with the Brand New battery. Can any hardware issue cause this issue? It's certainly not Battery problem and not software problem as well.

You really should have taken my advice earlier and diagnose before making any decisions. If your battery truly was dying, then apps like 3C and Geekbench's battery test would've picked this up as they've linear-regression curve data from aggregate sources that you could've compared to. In your OP, you stated that you saw WiFi as a culprit, but did you also know that Google Play Services (depending on version) can do location requests up to 78 times within the hour on stock apps alone? I used to have this similar battery issue, but that was related to location-requests from Google Play Services that somehow propagated to other sources based on CM13's July commit, meaning that kernels also based on this could've been affected as well. What I eventually settled for, in the meantime, is using SultanXDA's 08082016 build and so far everything looks good on Wifi regarding what I expect for typical battery performance. If I learn something, I'll come back to report on it.

I did took your advice and checked Location services. The problem occurs even with Wi-fi, 3G and Location desiabled. Also in Airplane mode with almost nothing installed (only gapps PICO package and CPUSpy)
i suggest trying old version it may help

You might wanna try that. Possibly MM eating through. I still use Lollipop too. I find no need for MM yet. Also MM feels anti-dev to me for some reason :/ Needs all workarounds for things that were previously much easy to do. Oh well. Try Lollipop and see if it helps? It'd have been my first step for troubleshooting before buying a new battery

Yesterday, I left my phone in Recovery mode (TWRP 3.0.2.0). In less then 5 hours, I observed battery drain of 20%. Same amount of drain is observed when running MM rom. I don't think changing to Lollipop will help. To me it looks like some hardware issue, can any hardware beside battery cause such issue?

Galaxy S5 Sucks On battery life!

Help Please!!
Battery is draining extremely FAST!!
Did everything including wipe system and wipe cache
Using TWRP
Refashed the ROM
But didnt solve the POOR battery drain issue.
Here is a story of the problem i am having
I charge the phone on a evening to 100%
I then go to sleep with 100%
Wifi Is off location is off
The only thing i have is my alarm clock to wake me up (Which works)
Wake up and realise that my battery had dropped to around 70% just on idle with alarm
I used the Wakelock Detector [ROOT] to detect any wakelock stuff
Then greenified pretty much every app except the google and some omni stuff because it said not hibernating.
Reflashed ROM, i have nothing at all installed,NOTHING,no app from the play store
Just stock Gapps.
Still the battery is draining like usual.
See Below For Photos
What does Mobile Network Mean and why is it soo red?
Can someone help me please or at least suggest a suggestion that could work.
I dont want to go to linegeOS as it is too plain.
Thanks for reading this
By the looks of it, it seems that you are running a custom Rom so I can see why you'd be confused. My question is are you still using a stock battery because I had a similar problem with mine running stock so I flashed Resurrection and I still had battery drain problems. I would recommend purchasing an aftermarket battery from Powerbear on Amazon. It's around $20 which is quite step compared to purchasing another stock battery but (speaking from experience) it's worth the purchase.

x727 with horrible battery life (system service seems to be the culprit)

Guys, please help me again!!!
My phone has horrible battery life. I know for a fact that it has up to 4000mAh as expected, I have keeping account of how much each apps used. However, it is drained out very fast. It has been this way even with the stock rom. Now I have flashed in Turbo rom the US version 21s (which I love very much, btw) and it is still draining like crazy.
I have even disabled location service and history and it is like that. I have even used other roms (lineageOS and paranoid), the battery still drains like crazy. I have only like a 15 hour-ish battery life on a phone that I used lightly so far.
I really want to keep this phone but if it keeps being like that, I might have to send it back or something which I desperately don't want to do...
Maybe you need to remove some bloatware on the stock LeEco ROM.
Otherwise I think you're getting decent enough battery life. Download Greenify or some other battery checking app to see if any app in particular is draining battery life. Look in the optimization page in Battery and try to unoptimize or optimize some apps. Doze might be causing issues.
Damn it.
I'm having the same problem, I can not fix what I've done, doing a clean setup completely erasing everything did not solve the problems.
There is no such problem in custom roms.
What can be done in this regard.
Power ManagerService and PowerManagerDisplay have no way to stop exploiting the battery. : Ağlayan:

Battery issues after flashing Resurrection Remix Oreo

So I've been having this really fast battery drain with my SM-G900F after I flashed Resurrection Remix-OS 6.2.0
I did some diagnosing and all, and I wasn't surprised to find out that the Wifi was the main Issue, It's always the Wifi for some reason. I used to have this battery drain when I had stock rom, the battery used to drain like 20% - 30% overnight, but I somehow fixed it, and the battery only drained like 3% - 5% max, I don't even know how but I did, the problem now is after I flashed the RR rom, the battery drains arround 10% overnight when it's idle of course, I didn't care much about that, but then I noticed that when I do basic tasks like messaging in Telegram, the battery drains as if I was playing a game or something, when I used to have stock rom, the battery used to last like 5 or 6 hours with me doing messaging and watching youtube and everything, but now it only lasts about 2 to 3 hours, I don't even know where to start resolving the issue, I tried disabling ipv6 on my router and all, nothing helped, I'm really just so lost and I don't really wanna switch back to stock rom cause I'm loving this one.
Can anybody please provide me with some kind of explaination or fix or anything, thank you so much in advance.

Unfortunately, Oreo builds aren't as battery friendly as Nougat or even Pie.
It is a fact that you can notice if you search and read in Unified Developement forum.
Based on my own experience, i advise you to try RR Nougat with updated security patch in combination with custom kernel like SmartPack, Boeffla, Tuned...
Good luck :good:
Thanks for the quick tip, hopefully I'll get this working
