"[ODIN][TAR] 4.4.4 I9505GUEUCNF3 Full Rooted Restore"
Pardon my ignorance, but what is a "full restore"? Can I flash this to my 4.2 i9505g to get a rooted 4.4.4 or do I need to do a restore after flashing this?
It is exactly what it says....an ODIN image to upgrade you from any previous version to 4.4.4 with the root binary installed on the system partition. Just install supersu from the play store after restoring this image and you're good. Also this image will not remove your data partition but it's still a good idea to back things up before flashing it. Hope this helps.
help rooting
Hi,
I am stuck trying to rooting, I have followed the wrong guide which was http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2366688. I just found this one cause I was searching to in the all forums, What I have done was unlock the boot loader and in the pictures is where I am stuck on what to do. I am asking for help cause I am a novice to rooting and dont know where to go from here.
This topic is not about rooting. Unless you want to flash the ODIN tar file and install supersu. Then you'll have root. If you're trying to install root, you need to flash a custom recovery and then flash supersu.

Hi. I have tried downloading the file (4.4.4 I9505GUEUCNF3 tar.md5.gz) in this post multiple times. However all of the times, Odin wasnt able to open the file neither was 7zip able to unzip it (was trying to check the validity of the the .gz file).
I have tried in Windows 8.1 and Linux (Redhat 6). If someone can please help me with a good download, it would be greatly appreciated.

Downgrading from Lollipop
I flashed the Lollipop firmware to my i9505G, but I'm missing the XPosed Framework and tempted to go back to 4.4.4. Is there anything special I need to do, or should I just root it again and flash 4.4.4 back onto the phone with Odin?

I would love to update my N9005 to Lollipop but for this I assume that I would need a newer CWM Recovery in order to re-gain root-access. Currently I am having 6.0.4.7 installed. Unfortunately the download-options for the hlte-cwm-recovery-6.0.5.0-kk(0806).tar files at d-h.st are somehow corrupted and being blocked by my local Kaspersky Suite because of an infection/risk.

Big Recovery Problem
Hi there!
Thanks for your hard work! Tonight I flashed a Kernel on my note 3 (arter97-kernel-hlte-6.0) and then installed the latest nightly of CM 12.1 with your Clockworkmod recovery (hlte-cwm-recovery-6.0.5.0-kk(0806)). With that I did a full backup of my old system before installing the CM.
Everything went fine and smooth and I had a running 5.1 System an my Note 3. Unfortunately I forgot to install the Gapps so my google-contacts-restore, playstore etc. didn't work. So I rebooted into recovery to install gapps - but nothing happened - black screen. Rebooting the normal system went on without a problem. Via Odin 3.9 I flashed the latest TRWP Recovery (it was the latest recovery build I could find) - same result. By the way you can see that booting into downlod modus worked still fine.
But now I made a big mistake: I had a clockworkmod-rom-manager-app-apk on my sd-card, which I could install without playstore. With this manager I installed an update for cwm and forced my phone to reboot into recovery using a button in the app. Now my phone has a recovery-boot-loop Even after removing my battery for about 5 minutes the recovery-bootloop continues.
Is there any help you can offer?
Thanks a lot for in advance!
Edit: The problem is solved but the reason why the recovery made this trouble is still not clear. I somehow managed to reboot into download mode and flashed the stock system via odin 3.09.
Exe file downloaded
When i downloaded n900-cwm-recovery-6.0.5.0-kk-cn(0812).tar for my SM N900, it downloaded exe file which i not able to recognize by odin software.
Please help.

Other than the apps out there to add other languages it only comes with what is included with the stock build. As for the other apps I suggest you search the Play Store or here on XDA for other options.

Download the files here.
You will need to use Odin to flash the G900V_NCG_Stock_Kernel.tar.md5 file and then reboot and run towelroot again. After that enter download mode again and Odin NI2_stock_kernel.tar.md5 and reboot. Then install busybox and then safestrap and flash the rom from safestrap.

Stuck in android is upgrading
[QUOTE=Misterxtc;57454188
HI! Thanks so much for the links! I started to follow your directions, i flashed the NCG one and now my phone has been stuck on a black screen saying "android is upgrading optimizing app 3 of 12 for about 20 mins. I'm so sorry to keep bothering you but could you tell me what to do now? i tried taking the battery out but it's still the same thing when it powers back on. Thanks again
I have Safestrap installed, rooted using Towelroot, SuperSU installed.
When I try to install a ROM in to a ROM-slot, I do the factory wipe on that slot the install the zip...it says it succeeds but rebooting to that slot only gets me a black screen. I have to remove the battery to reboot, go in to Safestrap Recovery, and revert to the Stock ROM.
Am I missing a step? Any idea what is going wrong?

If you would have read numerous threads on the issue you would have known. Instead you found out the same way I did some weeks ago!! There are known bug issues with Safestrap that cause the problems you are experiencing when using a rom slot. Use the stock slot only and all will work well. Yes, this means you have to wipe out your stock S5 system, but you can always odin back to stock.

Use this updated version of SafeStrap. The reboot issue has been fixed when using ROM slots in this version. Uninstall your current version first and then install the updated one. You may need to install SafeStrap to uninstall it if it isn't in your app drawer.
I have read some threads but obviously not enough.
I believe that I can only use touchwiz ROMs with Safestrap, is that correct? That basically means no AOSP roms are available to me. I ran LiquidSmooth on my s3; any suggestions on what would be the closest to that in a TouchWiz ROM?

Eclipse is as close to AOSP that you will get on the S5. @nitroglycerine33 did a beautiful job at it so give it a try.
I just came across that one and will be trying it later today. Thank you!!
Messed up NK2 stock ROM
I purchased my S5 yesterday and the phone was updated to NK2 at the store. I then proceeded to root NK2 by Odin flashing the NCG stock kernel, rooting with towelroot, and then Odin flashing the NK2 stock kernel. I've attached a image that shows my current Baseband and Build. Here's where I messed up: Before doing the smart thing of installing Safestrap Recovery v3.75 and doing a backup of the stock rom slot, I went ahead and installed Titanium Backup and restored all of the apps+data from my old LG G2 (that part's fine) as well as accidentally restoring some of the LG G2 system settings (I really only wanted to restore my SMS/MMS and Call Logs, but sadly I did more than that). The result is that I'm getting a bunch of "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped" crashes when I go into certain System Settings menus (e.g., "Blocking Mode" or "Notification Panel --> Related Apps"). I'd like to simply wipe the phone and start over and I know that a simple "Factory Data Reset" won't fix things for me. I'd like to Odin flash back to the "stock, rooted NK2' state, but I'm not sure where to find that download and what, if anything, I need to do to prep my phone to get it back into that state. Can I do that with an Odin flash of the "Download NK2 Odex" in Post#2? Or do I need to install Safestrap and flash it into the "Stock Rom Slot" from there?
Sorry I'm so confused.

Unable to flash twrp or PhilZ reovery
Hi Guys,
This is my first post on XDA and i am very much new to rooting/flashing. Yesterday i rooted my Galaxy S4 i9500 version using cf-autoroot method and everything went very smooth as expected. So then i installed twrp latest veriosn (2.8..x.x..) via odin; however after twrp installation i found that my root access was gone and SuperSu was also gone from the system.
I downloaded SuperSU .zip file as well from chainfire's website as well and tried flashing it with twrp in recovery mode; however it still didn't succeed. So i thought that i probably need to root again; and i did that via odin again using cf-autoroot but now twrp is gone and i am back with stock recovery. Now today again i tried to flash PhilZ recovery from .zip from stock recovery option "Apply Update from external sd card" ., the process completed however were some errors related to "Failed signature" and i am still stuck on Stock recovery only.
So can anyone please help me out or guide me, on what i need to do or what i am missing !!

TWRP Manager fails to install jfltespr v2.8.7.0 on stock 4.2.2 with USB cable connect
TLDR: Try unplugging the USB cable if TWRP fails to install.
TWRP Manager kept telling me it failed to install TWRP on my Sprint GS4 stock 4.2.2. It also did nothing when I clicked "yes" to reboot into recovery.
Turns out, I shouldn't have had it connected to my computer by USB cable. Not sure how well-known this is, but I thought I'd say something since I couldn't find any mention of it (until after I accidentally discovered that it worked after I unplugged the USB cable. I was able to google for the solution once I knew what it was ).
Hope y'alls are having a wonderful day!
No .tar option for Sprint Galaxy S4?
The download page for TWRP Sprint (https://dl.twrp.me/jfltespr/) only has an .img download link and no .tar for the latest version (2.8.7.0)... Which means I can only install it with Heimdall and not Odin, correct?
Perhaps this was an oversight, since all the other versions on the page have both options?
Recovery is not seaandriod enforcing! Help!
I just recently bought this phone. I got it rooted but when I installed CWM my phone messed up and had to do a factory reset. I finally installed TWRP and it is coming back with "recovery is not seandroid enforcing."
I can still get into the recovery by pressing the volume up button. I am just curious if there is either a stock or custom recovery I could flash via ODIN or through this recovery (if it would work) so I can get rid of this error? I suppose I would be content with just flashing the stock recovery but I need someone to send it to me or provide it. I am running Andriod 5.0.1
I do not mind even staying with this recovery if I can solve the error. Any suggestions?
Ive been going so crazy trying for about 15 hours total now trying to root and get a custom recovery on my phone, for some reason, nothing will work. I do have alot of experience with rooting and ive done just about everything, attempting to get this phone to flash a custom recovery.
ATT SGH i337

KTU84P.I337UCUFNJ4
I am currently rooted, but i cannot get a custom recovery. I have just tried this method,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2297033
with that tool, however after running it, it successfully flashes the recovery, then boots me into the Odin Mode Download screen with the picture of an android. Same thing with trying any other method of flashing a recovery. Can someone please tell me how to get past this, im so exhausted trying to fix this. I tried factory reseting my phone from the phones settings and even that brought me back to the download screen with a picture of an android. I cant get into any recovery at all! Stock or custom it sends me back to that screen.
How can i flash a custom recovery and get this working? Thank you guys in advance

i installed the proper NJ4 safestrap apk and pressed install recovery, however it still says it is not installed "reboot to recovery" is greyed out. Upon booting into recovery, i am still stuck in Odin mode. Anyway for me to stop odin mode from continuing to come up instead of recovery?.
I would guess the system is looking for stock recovery, and it isn't there any more due to your flashing the CWM OUDHS recovery and/or TWRP. You probably need to put the stock recovery back.
I know and I've been trying to find out a way to do that. Could you help me if that's what I need to do? Once I reinstall stock recovery will safestrap work?

I would suggest that you flash nb1 then nb4, root and install safestrap. At this point, a clean install is your best bet. Refer to this thread in the general forum.

You are on NJ4 (I337UCUFNJ4). There is no flashable "whole stock firmware" for that version. There is a flashable whole stock firmware for the NJ1 version (I337UCUFNB1). Also, there is no easy way to "extract the recovery image out of the firmware and flash it by its self via odin." The reason for this is that you need a .tar archive to flash in odin, so if you extract just the recovery, you then need a Linux box, or a Linux virtual machine running on your windows pc to make the tar file from it.
This is why I suggested that you flash the NB1 full stock firmware, and then flash the upgrade to NJ4 from stock recovery, as outlined in the guide I linked.
As you asked for a little more detailed help, I'll try to walk you through following the Odin to Stock, Updating, Rooting, and Safestrap Guide.
First, read through post #1 and the FAQ in post #3. Next, you need to decide what version you want to end up with. Let's assume that you want to end with NJ4 -- KitKat 4.4.4. (If you want to end with OC3 -- Lollipop 5.0.1, then the instructions are a little different.)
In post #2, under the section titled NJ4 -- KitKat 4.4.4 expand Step 1 - Odin to stock. The files you need to download are at the top of this section. Follow the steps; they are pretty self explanatory. Part 1 installs full stock NB1, and Part 2 installs the upgrade to NJ4.
You are now on fully stock NJ4. If you want to root and install Safestrap, expand Step 2 -- Root and Install Safestrap. The files you need to download are at the top of this section. Again, the steps are pretty self explanatory.
That's it. If you want to now install custom firmware, you are ready, or you can just stay on stock if you prefer.

Yes and i did everything under the NJ4 Kitkat 4.4.4 section. I am rooted and everything worked except for safestrap. I open it and press install recovery and everytime it finishes it says "state:Not Installed". And reboot to recovery is greyed out. Upon manually rebooting into recovery mode, i am in normal stock recovery.
I cant use the selinux mode changer it says. To root i didnt use towelroot because installing the NC1 kernel disables my wifi connection, and since the phone has no service, i had to use KingO Root. I have confirmed root access using root checker. But Safestrap wont work.
What do i do? Is safestrap not working because i didnt root with towelroot? I assumed it didnt quite matter how i rooted. If it is because of towelroot, then how do i get towel root to work while on the NC1 kernel with no wifi and no cell service?
Update: I found a selinux Mode changer apk on xda and installed it. I tried it and safestrap still would not work and said "not installed". I also reflashed the NC1 Kernel and the same thing happened. I booted into recovery for confirmation.
I guess its maybe because i didnt root with towelroot? But it is impossible without phone service because flashing NC1 disables the wifi. Please reply as soon as you can
I can't help with your current issue with safestrap because I don't own this phone. I have worked on my son's S4, and a couple of others that have come through my hands. I have performed the exact process you just used with no issues.
I would suggest you post your issues in the guide thread where someone who has more experience with safestrap can help.

You can't move this thread into that one. But you can state your issue in that thread and then provide a link to this one for more info.
