Sim Unlock Problems - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I tried unlocking my Razr M using both CDMA Workshop and DFS but the phone refuses to unlock.
When I use DFS and try to write the 00 code in the 8322 section, it doesn't stick. As soon as I click read again, it goes back to being 01
Here are the guides I've been following:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7-Kbm1_enM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96eTID-E4Ks
These did work for me in the past, but they are not working on my new phone running the latest stock firmware. Any help please? I'm currently without a phone

Try this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166542
Cellzealot is quite the master in this field and he mentions the 'dfs' method in that thread. But I highly recommend you read the instructions twice or thrice and possibly the rest of the thread; because if you have any problems, they are already addressed.
good luck

I used the radiocomm method and it did not work so i did it again and this time i wrote 00 twice and it worked perfectly

Help! Unlocking

Hi Guys
I just got an Orange UK Optimus 7. I want to unlock it and have been trying the instructions in the thread hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974874.
I followed the instructions but the dam thing remains locked, I get the enter code screen when I place a T-Mobile sim card in it.
Any thoughts on this before I head to the man in the market!?
Many thanks
The instructions you followed are for developer unlocking your device, to allow side loading of apps and such. You need to carrier unlock your device, which is completely different. As far as I know, there is no registry hack to do this, and you would have to obtain an unlock code through other means.

[Q] AT&T Motorola Atrix 4G Running GB 2.3.6 Build 4.5.141 Questions

Sorry if this is a repeated question, but have been looking for the answers all over the forum and have failed to find any up-to-date answers.
As the title stated I have an at&t motorola atrix 4g that is running the original gingerbread 2.3.6 build 4.5.141. I have managed to finally root it but I have been finding contradicting information on whether the bootloader can be safely unlocked and exactly how to do it. Does anyone have any recent info or insight on this? If it can be done, does anyone have an opinion on what they consider to be the best ROM manager or best ROM and why? Does anyone know much about the ClockworkMod Touch Recovery? I have worked with other phones but obviously don't know diddly about this one, but I do respect the opinions of the other members on this site. I have always been impressed by the amount of knowledge this group holds, as well as the quality. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hope this helps...
I don't know about unlocking the bootloader on .141 but I've had it unlocked since I got the phone last year. And once it's unlocked you can't re-lock it (even if you flash another ROM and the "unlocked" text disappears from the boot screen.
I'm sure there are several ways to arrive at 141 with unlocked boot loader and root with touchrecovery but this is what I did.
First, I used RSD Lite to flash the .91 sbf on my phone and return it to stock.
Second, I used the Auto-Unlock script found on this thread. AutoUnlock Script
Third, I used the OneClickRoot script found on this thread. One Click Root Script
Fourth, I followed UncleCemka's instructions to use Moto-Fastboot to upgrade the boot, system and webtop partitions to the stock .141 versions and then reobtained root found on this thread. Upgrade from .91 to .141 Safely thread
Finally, I downloaded the ClockworkMod Touch Recovery image file from the ClockworkMod website and used moto-fastboot to erase the recovery partition and then flash the touchrecovery.img file over to my phone. You can find the touch recovery image at this website. http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
So now I have an unlocked bootloader on my rooted Atrix running stock .141 software with the ClockworkMod Touch Recovery image.
Thanks sjmoreno.
A "rollback/degrade" may be the only way, I'm just hoping that someone has done it straight from the new version. It may just be wishful thinking on my part.
Here's a thread about a guy who unlocked his boot loader on 2.3.6…theres also a guide in there. Hope you find it helpful

For the unlocking portion I was on 4.5.141 and I used the method below successfully. Do not get alarmed because you most likely will get the "failed to boot 0x1000" error but just follow the onscreen instructions. The program does everything for you, the only command you really type in is your specific device ID. It was very easy, just read the recent posts from the thread. Good luck!

I use CWM and I have had no problems with it so far. I have been running jokersax CM9 roms since I unlocked and I love it. Hope this helps.

[Q] [HELP] AT&T Galaxy S4 I337 Network Unlock

Can someone give clear instructions on how to Network unlock my completely stock Galaxy S4 I337? I've read all sorts of different methods and none of them have worked. So far, I have tried (unsuccessfully) the following:
- Using the *#27663368378# method, does not do anything
- Using the *#0011# method, does not take me to the UMTS menu
- Using the *#9090# method, does not take me to the UMTS menu
- Using the *#*#197328640#*#* method, takes me to the DEBUG SCREEN in the UMTS menu but Option 6 (PHONE CONTROL) is not there
- Using 'Samsung Service Mode' app method (google search for "samservicemode" it's the first XDA link), takes me to the DEBUG SCREEN in the UMTS menu but Option 6 (PHONE CONTROL) is not there
One thread I saw mentioned that the modem / modem drivers have something to do with the menu options not being there but didn't offer much else.
Is there a tried and true proven method to Network unlock an AT&T 32GB Galaxy S4 I337? My phone's basic info is attached.
Call AT$T and have them give you the unlock code. I did this and was the easiest way.

Is there any sure-fire way without root?
I have had the same problem.
I have not found a way to sim unlock my phone.
The easiest way is to call AT&T and tell them that you will be traveling in Europe and need your phone unlocked. AT&T is generally willing to provide an unlock code in this situation.
If you wish to unlock it yourself, have a look at my post that gives you options when the necessary Samsung menu item appears to be missing. It's not usually missing.. just moved to a different sub menu: How to unlock..
.
I tried following steps and my at&t phone is unlocked. Tried with T-mobile sim as well as international sim.
Possible method to SIM unlock on MK2 *must be rooted*
1. Rooted my s4 on MF3 using following method.
New Root Method for AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 (OTA MF3 + Safe update to MK2)
HOWTO:
Use a card reader to format the micro SD card to exFAT (FAT32 or other formats does not work) in Windows. I haven't tried Linux or MacOS X, so they may not work.
Download the attached file (Root_for_ATTSG4_FM3.rar) and extract it into the root of your EXTERNAL microSD card using the card reader in Windows. (You can do the extraction using WinRAR or 7-zip).
Put the SD card back to the phone and download the Android Terminal Emulator app.
Open the Terminal Emulator app and run below 3 commands:
Code:
cd /mnt/extSdCard
./pwn
./script.sh
Then, open SuperSU and check everything looks good.
Then open a root app and it should be working properly.
Reboot your device once to confirm root is still working after reboot.
Come back to the post and press the THANKS button

2. Install Recovery using following method. Follow MF3 saferoot method
[RECOVERY LOCKED] Safestrap Recovery v3.71 [2013-12-27 EXFAT Fix]
FOR USERS OF MF3 (TW4.2):
LATEST FILE: Safestrap-JFLTEATT-3.65.apk (updated 2013-11-15)
Main XDA Downloads Page
Mirror 1 (Goo.im): http://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/jflteatt/safestrap
HOW DO I INSTALL SAFESTRAP?
Requirement: Root
Requirement: Allow APK install from Unknown Sources
Download the Safestrap APK
Find the APK using a Filemanager tool and open it on your device, then click "Install".
(If updating from an existing Safestrap you might be warned that this will over-write the existing installation. Click the "Yes" equivalent to this message.)
Once installed, open up the Safestrap application as you would any other app.
Agree to the disclaimer that you won't try to sue me and hunt me down with a rifle if you manage to break your phone..
Then use the "Install Recovery" button. You should see the current version down in the lower left corner of the window. And the "Status:" should say "Installed" when you're done.
From there you can reboot and you *should* see a new splash screen during the boot up. While this is showing you can enter Safestrap Recovery using the [ menu ] button.
That's it for the installation! Read below for a brief overview of Safestrap Recovery v3.x

Method 2 (posted by muniz_ri)
Alternatively, I337 owners can flash the MDL modem via Odin to re-gain access to the hidden menu(links to signed, odin flashable modems below) then follow the guide in the OP to unlock your phone. Once completed you can re-flash the MK2 modem. I tested this process on my own stock i337 running stock MK2 and it works but follow at your own risk. Also, my knox warranty flag has been tripped for a long time so I don't know if flashing the MDL modem will trip the flag or not. Someone else can chime in on that. Cheers:

If you don't have an account with at&t they are not going to give you a code. Either try the free unlock or buy a code.
Just a heads up on the free unlock, generally if you try it too many times you will be permanently unable to unlock. So if it doesn't work the first couple of times give up

The free way does not work for me as I am not able to access the Phone Control feature (possibly because of the 4.4.2 OS which I have heard has some features to prevent users from unlocking a device).
I am having the previous owner and at&t customer to call and request the code. Will know whether they will release the code in 48 hours.
If that doesn't work I will have to buy a code. Any recommendations?
I have used cellunlocker.net many times and couldn't be happier (except for the price lol)

Just trying to unlock phone, USB and Wifi are not working after rooting with Odin3

I tried follow 2 separate quick or auto-root guides for this phone, but after performing the room, I am no longer able to access the device via USB or use the WI-FI on the device. The Wi-Fi gives an invalid sim card as the excuse (I don't have an active one right now), and the USB isn't working even after installing drivers and software from Samsungs site, and messing with the usb menu numbers. USB works in order to root the device, and it worked prior to rooting. HELP?!
Or you flashed the wrong version of CF auto-root or you need to remove Knox.

You probably need to temporarily flash an old modem. Then apply that procedure and then flash back a correct modem.

Rooting ZTE Blade A7 Prime

I've used the search function and found nothing for this phone. I've used Google and found nothing about rooting this exact model.
I'm looking for the technique to root this phone and I'm finding nothing. Has anybody rooted and flashed a Custom ROM/custom recovery on this device and how did you do it?
I just got this phone as well, and I have been looking and also have found nothing for this exact variant. I have tried the usual one-click methods to no avail. Is there any development in the works? If you need a test dummy, let me know. I have several other phones to use as spares, so I am not afraid of a soft brick.
Rooting ZTE Blade a7 Prime
I too can be a test dummy to root this phone. Since Visible is such a hands off company you really need your phone to be rooted to do things for yourself. Currently for some reason my ZTE BLADE A7 Prime can’t send or receive calls and their techs are telling me 3 to 5 business days... counting yesterday and today that’s a week! Ridiculous! The APN settings look off compared to my wife’s phone but you can’t edit the settings.
ZTE Blade prime A7 Visible
I've been having the exact same problem with making and receiving calls also with losing service(for the service prob. Found great n easy solution- till find permanent one-**go to airplane mode in settings turn it on for 30secs to a minute then turn airplane mode back off TAKES SIGNAL FROM 0-4 BARS EVERYTIME AND I CAN GET/MAKE CALLS INSTANTLY ETC AGAIN ?)
Data saver seems to work for resetting connection as well. I too would be interested in rooting. I kinda like the phone, but it does have its issues.
First glance at unlocking bootloader
I just received the phone today. I was excited to see that I could get into developer mode and move the OEM Unlocking icon to allow bootloader unlock... Unfortunately, that's where the excitement ended. The typical fastboot oem unlock and fastboot flashing unlock yielded no results. I then did some research and it would seem MediaTek only implements two oem commands, and unlock is not one of them...
"The bootloader may implement additional, manufacturer-specific commands. These do not follow the usual protocol command format, and they cannot have a payload. Some manufacturers implement a lot of OEM commands, as can be seen here. MediaTek just implements two: fastboot oem p2u on and fastboot oem p2u off, these enable or disable the redirection of Linux kernel messages to the UART."
Will tinker with it some more later since I'm limited with time. Hope someone figures out how to unlock the bootloader and go from there.
Has anybody tried this?

I don't own this phone (yet), so I can't give it a shot myself.
I'm not very familiar with mediatek processors in general, but that looks rather promising with some restrictions... If I have time over the weekend, I'll give that a whirl and report back whether it works or bricks my device
seems lke ts gonna be a long process before were able to fiddle with roms but im atleast glad this is close to stock android.
I can confirm that mtk-su R20 downloaded from https://forum.xda-developers.com/hd...xperimental-software-root-hd-8-hd-10-t3904595 gets you root prompt. Use 32-bit binary (arm).

Ditto here too. Couldn't get it working at first. Turned out I miss read the instructions and put all files in the init.d folder instead od the two files in the bin folder. Then your tip on using the 32bit binary got it working. Thanks.
Anybody figured out a way to change build.prop to make it stick after reboot? I am trying to enable APN editing by modifying /system/build.prop, but whenever I reboot I lose the changes.
/system and the root filesystem are mounted as a kind of RAM Disk. You would have to modify the actual image files (varies depending on partition scheme) and reflash to make things stick. Now, to my knowledge, doing so would require an unlocked bootloader, which currently is not possible with this phone.

Looks like we can not add an APN even with root then? It's a bummer.

They removed the fastboot command to unlock the bootloader. I found it out by comparing the similar ZTE Blade 10 and Blade 10 Prime. The Blade 10 non-prime has the unlock command and it works whereas the prime version has the command removed but funnily enough the lock command is still there but is useless. I then looked at the bootloader for the a7 prime and same thing the unlock command is removed from the bootloader. So there isn't much hope for it unless a bypass can be found.

+1 to another confirmation that the above works. Root is available, but there are limitations. I cannot install many of the modules from magisk, but this is still a great start. Thanks for the links :good:
I installed the magisk, however, it seems no root permission when I installed Titanium to remove stock apps, it never get root permission.
I was able to add new APN easily to make it work on AT&T 4G LTE data network. Are you saying any reboot of phone will make the newly added APN disappear?

I was also able to add and APN by just clicking on the "+" icon on the top-right corner of the APN configuration screen. When I inserted by MINT SIM Card (T-Mobile MVNO) there were not default populated APNs, but was able to get everything to work after adding an APN -- even after rebooting.
Big Tip: After entering the APN data and before leaving the data entry screen, make sure that you save the APN or it will not be persisted. Click on the "three dots" menu on the top-right corner and hit the Save menu item.

After studying the process a bit, I've come to conclude that this isn't really permanent root. All this does is the equivalent of running a script to gain temporary root after after reboot. This is done very late in the boot process, if you can even call it a part of the boot process since it's really just a user-space application auto-starting.
The modules are probably trying to be instantiated well before the root is made available through the pseudo "init.d" scripts.
It's still nice to have root access using this technique, but its usability is pretty limited. For example, I can't even get AFWall+ to start up, even if I configure it with a startup delay (hoping that it kicks in after temporary root).
So what are the odds we can make this a permanent root using a firehose file and QPST/QFIL? Similar to the Visible R2 phone?
