I'd give it a safe guess that this is a case of stuck pixels, which has no fix. However, stuck pixels have been known to fix themselves after a little time.
I'd say try a reboot and see if that gets rid of it.

Hey.
I recently purchased a Motorola Bravo which I already love. I downloaded WidgetLocker and it's an amazing app but I have one problem - there's a strange translucent black bar covering about half the screen on my lockscreen now. I don't really know what the problem is so I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. It doesn't really affect anything but it looks really awful and I wish I could remove it.
Anyone have any idea what's going on here?
The black translucent area is called the anchor. You can get rid of it by going into the settings>look & feel>layout. You will see a picture of a phone and drag the arrow down to get rid of the anchor.
Thank you so much! I was losing hope in WidgetLocker. :>

What launcher are you using? Also, can you post a screenshot?

Try holding down on the icons and moving them. If you can, remove them from the screen and re add them. If not, try disabling any xposed modules (if you have any that could effect the home screen) and look at it again. I don't personally use the touchwiz launcher and this never happened to me, so these are just guesses. Also, I noticed you have a strange colored Google app in your bottom bar. Did you do anything to the icon, and if so did you possibly break other icons while doing it?

I did factory reset my phone and still see these , is there any software to fix that or this is a hardware issue .
is this called a burn-in issue or it is called some thing else .
thanks for replying .
Are those applications actually there software wise? If not, then it would be a burn-in, where the screen has the images "burned in" and can't be removed. If they are there you could try flashing a stock tar using Odin for whatever build you want.

yes , they are software wise and if you look very good in the pic you can notice the whatsapp shadow on the screen , also I had flashed the stock.tar odin rom many times and they are still there , if this case is a burn-in issue what software would you suggest to fix because I tried all the softwares on the playstore and they didn't help .
thanks

The only other thing I can suggest is to take your phone to Verizon and see what they can do. They might have to replace it.
having same issue in MotoG3
I got this phone(MotoG3) 15 days back, it worked fine for a few days and suddenly I noticed that a "Whats app Shadow" is coming on my home-screen, it was hardly noticeable at first but then it became darker and darker, I replaced the phone thinking it might be a software issue, and got the same handset today itself, it worked fine but again as I installed whats app the same shadow problem appeared, I uninstalled it and it started to work properly. Am not sure where is the problem, so please help me out.
About the shadow issue:
The home screen of whats app appears in my wallpaper and also above all the other apps, a transparent shadow kinda thingy, I hope you people got what am trying to say.
Thank You
I also have the same issue on my redmi note 8 but in my phone i doesn't shows the shadow of the icon but but the shadow off appa inside when I use anh app
I have the same issue on my Pixel; the shadow apps aren't directly on my home screen, but when apps are opened. Perhaps due to Google system.
I've looked all over this forum and elsewhere but i was not able to find any solution to this issue.
I recently bought this phone brand new and I'm having an issue that can be seen in the pictures.
Any text white on black background or darker background shows this shadow type of thing and if anyone has any solutions for this please help.
it is showing in the applications and even on the drop down notification panel, white icons show the smear across the screen.
If this is in a wrong place i apologize.
here are two better pictures where you can clearly see the shadows

You have hardware problems... to be sure, perform a factory default, but I am guessing it will still be there. Return the device for a replacement or send it in to Moto for repair, you cannot fix this with software.
Get it replaced from Motorola before it's too late.
Thank you good sirs your help is much appreciated. I bought it at Best Buy hopefully they will exchange it.
I just have updated the new software today. The good news is that we can hide the navigation bar. The bad news is we only have 7 colors for the navigation bar to choose from, and there is no dark color. I use to have the black navigation bar so I found this update terrible
Is anyone share the same opinion??
This is probably to stop people from using a black background which will cause uneven wear of the display.

Maybe not the answer everyone wants but this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jaouan.skinnednavbar&hl=en works great for bringing back the black navbar. And you can use this without any of the emoji's on it; just plain black navbar.
I don't see that hide nav bar feature...

I'm a little confused, black pixels are costly?

Google it. It's not difficult.
Black nav bar will result in uneven screen wear. I didn't say cost, I said screen wear.
I have a black navbar. I have always had a black navbar. It actually helps preserve battery life. A black navbar has never caused me issues.

This app does bring back the black bar but it keeps the phone awake. So the lock screen doesn't time out in the normal way. It times out after the same amount of time you set the system time out to. This has caused major battery drain when it turns on in my pocket from the virtual home button being so easy to push (even at the least sensitive setting) has anyone else found an alternative app that solves the problem in the same way but doesn't keep the phone from sleeping?
AQG2 update just arrived on my unlocked us model G950U1. Installation went smooth and July security patch is present.
LOL. Of course. Just yesterday I flashed the T-Mo software on my 955U1 because I was tired if being a software version behind.
What are the changes? Does it introduce the hide navbar option?

I got it installed. Gone is the Blue color I was using in the Nav Bar. Not really liking the selection. Ended up going with the 2nd color (an off-white).
What a joke Samsung is with these updates. They give T-Mobile an update first with the S7 and S8 before the unlocked device. Now, my phone its stuck in a possible boot loop while trying to update it.
Yeah update went smooth, not digging the fact they turned all the nav bar colors to different whites but my black theme keeps it black so w/e, the hide option is there and everything seems a bit snappier now.

Yes, you can hide the nav bar, but I turned it off completely - don't like the dot in the lower left. Other than that I personally didn't see anything else.

After the update was installed, it felt snappier, but after some short time it started to feel the same.

Can you post download link for (S8+) G955U1?

So it turns out some apps kept the black theme and some did not, however I did the adb commands in the post down a ways about changing the nav bar color and that seems to have worked well.
One odd thing I have noticed is that sound in games does not seem to be able to be turned down all of the way now, is anyone else having this issue? Like there is always some sound even after I turn it down completely. (Or a white noise sound if you mute the app.)

Thanks for the tip, I hadn't realized there was a way to do it with adb. This article gives all the information necessary to make the change. At an adb shell I ran
Code:
settings put global navigationbar_color -16777216
and now I have a nice black navigation bar.

Not sure why, but when doing a black nav bar, the white icons aren't a pure white...but a bit white-gray.
I ended up using a blue color -8922375
