SMS does not appear in the unlock screen - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have a problem caused by me that I would like to solve, and I just need a little help.
The only things that I have done to my S4 have root permissions, installing Nova Launcher, I installed Xposed framework with some modules and disabled all unnecessary programs from Samsung.
But now I have a problem, when I get a text message I see the notification on the unlock screen, I touch the notification message and below opens a box in which you should see the message but instead does not say anything and remains empty.
I disabled something that I should not disable?

[Q] How do i turn off system updates under 4.1.2

I just restored N7 to factory rom 4.1.2 from 4.2 since lots of apps got crash under 4.2 including xbmc.
but the annoying thing is update notification always pops up.
Is there any way to disable update notification?
I'm looking too. It seems there is a dmservice that needs to be disabled, but I can't find it. Maybe if I change the fingerprint to match 4.2...
Please keep me informed. I don't wanna update just yet either.
I nearly clicked yes when it popped up while I was browsing.
Never mind I managed to do it.
On the update notification in the tool bar. Long click. It gives a box app info. Click that it takes you to Google services framework info. Just under the title there is a tick box for notifications. Untick it and read the message. If you accept, no more update notifications.

Might not be the answer I seem to have gotten rid of the notification but I have had the update flash on the screen since. I was messing with Google services at the time though. I'll keep you posted.
Just to confirm still getting the update notification flashing up in the middle of the screen. Don't get it in the notification bar though.
Anyone know how to stop this?
Same experience here, was able to get rid of the banner but not the popup via Google Services Framework.
I found the download in /cache, so I deleted it. Waiting to see if i still get the popup notification.
Edit: No luck with this... still getting the popup.

"Couldn't add widget"

In the recent menu/ app switcher, I get this "couldn't add widget" display at the top. Phone works nicely, but this widget error display is annoying for me. I have the moto rooted with twrp. Anyone having the same issue? I tried rebooting, clearing cache, clearing data from google search app with no solution.
Thanks in advance
Do you have Xposed installed with any modules set to "Hide search bar in recents"?
I remember I had that on my M8 when I hid the search bar in the recents..... It was eventually fixed in a ROM update, but I had to live with it for a while, or show the search bar.

No xposed, just stock rooted. Should have mentioned that, lol... any other ideas? thanks
SUCCESS!
So i booted into safe mode (while phone is on, hold power and long press "power off" and tap boot into safe mode), then launch the recent apps menu and the widget (google search) is there, then reboot phone like normal.
Hope this helps if anyone has the same thing.

Notification Problem

Hello Everybody
My P8 Lite Don't give me notification unless i open apps like whatsapp and viber and i marked show notification for them
any help please
You said, you've got the notification enabled for those apps, so there's only one thing that can cause problem, like this.
Go to your Settings > Power saving, then scroll down, and check the Protected apps menu.
Checked means it can run even if the screen is off.
Report back if it's worked for you, please.

Thx Man It Works For Me
I have whatsapp checked and I dont recieve the notifications, it is sudden.. I have to reset the phone.
It works fine and suddenly stops.
thks
same as @manuz89, if i reboot the phone it works but a few minutes later its bad again
i already have "normal" preset in battery settings, whatsapp its protected and all notification toggles are ON
im clearing cache right now and if it dont work i'll factory reset the phone
All other apps works properly, I think is a compatibility problem between Whatsapp and P8lite. Don't think factory reset will work
Before this phone, I had a S3 Mini, and that phone also had notification issues with WhatsApp...Maybe it's the app, not the phone
kitkat was fine, its the lollipop version with the problem.
But does this happen to everyone? Do you think someone will have an answer soon or we should just go back to kitkat.?
Thks
try changing your power mode to Normal, in case Smart is turning off a connection somewhere
Notification problem
I have the same problem - no notifications for whatsapp. All settings are correct. I.e. Notifications is allowed, power saving is normal, Whatsapp is protected. What else can I try? If I reset to factory will it delete all my photos etc?

No need factory reset. Anyway notifications of Viber(may be Whatsapp) do not work on this phone. You can easy resolve this bug with Light Flow - LED&Notifications. I use this method and work great!
unfortunately that app is not free. is there any other solutions. i did all those mentioned above including locking the app in the recent app tray. still, the problem persists. previously i used a xiaomi phone, it still had notifications although delayed for minutes
hi
just go to setting/screen lock& passwords/ screen lock style / and change it to default(magazine).
then you will see ( notification panel &notification turn on screen......) it will save the problem.
note : after you can change your lock screen picture and choose from your gallery.
Solved
Hello.
I had the same problem with whatsapp. After many research, i think i have found the solution:
Enable background data for Google Play Services app and allow notifications as well for this app.
(PS This solutions is mentioned also in the FAQ from whatsapp )))))) .. that simple
It worked for me.. try

"screen overlay detected" even when all are switched off

So, I've just updated to the latest Pure Nexus - did a wipe and clean install - and I'm trying to get my apps set up again, but I can't grant permissions through system settings. If an app actually pops up and requests a permission, I can allow it; but for some apps, this doesn't happen. Home Remote Control, for example, won't request the storage permission it needs to access my ssh key. So I go into settings->apps, find the app, tap permissions, try to enable the storage permission, and..."screen overlay detected". Except there is no screen overlay active. I have disabled every app's "draw over other apps" permission. I even found the "show system" option in the list and disabled all system apps' ability to draw over other apps. At this point, SYSTEMUI can't draw over anything else! And I'm still getting "screen overlay detected" when I try to change permissions. Any advice? Is there another way to manage permissions in Marshmallow (like maybe an xposed module)?
EDIT: Thought I should also mention, the issue persists in Safe Mode.

Do you have twilight or lux installed?
The reason it's warning you is BECAUSE they're disabled. Enable all the toggles and the prompts will go away. You can then choose to disable one by one until you figure which app is throwing the error.

Turned out to be because GravityBox pie controls were enabled. Doesn't show up in the "draw over" list, but trips the overlay detection regardless. Disabling pie controls in the GravityBox app let me change permissions.
Hi,
Try to flash this by Custom Recovery.

Thanks man. I have been going crazy for the past few days trying to figure this out lol. Just posted asking for help as well. Such a random and rare issue, that i couldnt find anything on it.

How to get rid of the "slide to unlock/fast charging" lockscreen message?

I've been looking around online and have had no success.
I don't want to to use any lockscreen apps, I've tried many of them.
I'm rooted and have xposed installed still I have yet to come across any app or module which gets rid of this annoying text.
Any ideas?
searched for ages for an solution to this problem:
only solution:
Xposed --> Custom Text
With the app you can change every letter in every app on every site very easily. just click on lock screen search for the sentence you want to change and delete all letters. now nothing appears anymore

Thanks for the reply man, I was beginning to lose hope.
I'm trying to find the name of the process/app which holds the lockscreen text. Do you happen to remember what it was called?
EDIT- Found it! Its systemui. The mod works mostly, and I was able to remove that pesky text. Thanks a lot!
