Can't get Fastboot to recognise Nexus 7 under Win7 x64

I've tried the latest revision Android USB drivers from the SDK platform updater. I've tried PDANet and the Universal Naked Drivers.
Basically, ADB works great, but as soon as I "adb reboot bootloader", my Win7x64 says "USB Device Not Recognised".
I've already gone into device manager and tried manually updating the driver to the various ones I've downloaded. I've also tried "uninstalling" the driver and reinstalling it, but it keeps coming up as unknown device.
When I type "fastboot devices", nothing shows up (obviously).
What am I doing wrong?

Same thing happening with me, i want to re-lock my bootloader but when i am in bootloader mode windows does not want to recognize the device, i have tried everything too.

Did you install the correct drivers?

When connected and in the bootloader open the device manager in windows. You should see "android 1.0" near the top.
Update that driver. It should work.

Hey, As i said earlier i was having the same problem...try switching your usb cable then try. That is what fixed my problems.

ive done all mentioned above, even tried 3 different cables, no luck, anyone have suggestions

I dont know about what you want to do, but if you want to root and unlock use the wugfresh took kit. Its the bomb and as soon as I figure out where I can thank him and give a big kudos I will give thanks.

I could be wrong, but I don't think adb works from bootloader, but the fastboot command should. I think you can also use Google's Composite ADB Interface driver too for it (I can't reboot my N7 atm or else I'd find out).
I don't have any other android-related drivers on my system either, only Google's USB driver from the SDK. I'm also on Windows 8, but I would assume Google's USB driver would work fine on Windows 7 too.
Also certain USB filter drivers may cause issues too, such as libusb, or even AMD's USB filter driver (however, I had no problems). Or if you want to wipe out any/specific USB drivers, I recommend getting: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html

Can't see ADB interface driver

I was using Wug's nexus root toolkit last week, then my laptop got broken and now i have to use my friends' laptop. I don't know why but when i plug my N7 with Developer option ON and USB debugging ON. N7 root toolkit can't find my devices, it said that there is no adb interface driver, i checked "device manager" but there is only "Nexus 7" in portable devices, nothing more, no unregconized drivers. What should i do now, i want to get back to my stock rom and update to 4.1.2 but find it impossible.

i installed the driver from Wug's and reboot already but it didn't works.

Make sure you are logged on as Administrator when the drivers are installed.

I logged in as Admin, install PDA net drivers and Samsung USB driver but it didn't work, my laptop couldn't regconize my device >.<. Can somebody help me please

Hmm, I've tried everything too. Every suggested driver, every uninstall and reboot, every workaround and fix, and on two different laptops. I suspect that this simply just doesn't work all the time.

Cannot install drivers to make adb work

Hello. I'm trying to make adb work in Windows 7 x64 SP1 (updated) with my Nexus 4.
I enabled USB debugging and it shows up as "Nexus 4" under "Other devices" in Windows' Device Manager. I tried installing Google's drivers from the Android SDK, but it can't find any drivers. Same results with the "Universal Naked Driver".
The device ID it shows is USB\VID_18D1&PID_D002&REV_0228 (see attachment), which I couldn't find anywhere. Is this normal?

You have to right click on the other drivers folder and then update drivers. But you have to have the adb drivers download for it. The only thing is that you need the drivers. Try to search for nexus 4 adb driver download.

What do you mean? I right clicked "Nexus 4" in the Device Manager, selected Update Driver Software, chose the sdk\extras\google\usb_driver folder, but nothing. Please see the attachments. Is that what you meant?
Same thing happens with the "naked" drivers. None of them has the VID_18D1&PID_D002&REV_0228 device ID.

That's right update driver but you need the adb drivers. Go to Google and search for nexus 4 adb drivers download.
Have you tried turning off your phone and then plugging the phone to your computer? That should automatically download the drivers but someone's you get errors. I could not do it done I soft bricked my phone and only the LG logo came on with security error. I flashed the prada adb drivers to get into fastboot.

the easiest way to install the drivers, imo, is reboot to the bootloader, then plug the usb cable in. it should automatically trigger them to be installed.

Bricked & Unseen...

Ok, here goes my story.
Just a week ago from the date this was posted, I decided to update my recovery (TWRP) through ROM Installer. Surprisingly, I didn't see TWRP at all in the "Recoveries" section of the application. Stock, ClockworkMod Touch, regular Clockworkmod (no touch), and unofficial Clockworkmod were available - from what I can remember. I decided to use Clockworkmod (no touch) to install Paranoid Android. Coming from OmniROM, I factory reset and flashed the .zip.
Flashing ended in error with Status 7. A while before I had used ClockworkMod Touch to try another ROM and had no such issue. I ignored the error and restarted my tablet hoping that it would still boot fine. It rebooted, gave me the Google logo for about 5-10 seconds and automatically rebooted into recovery.
I saw a bypass for Status 7. Removing some lines from the updater-script was the solution. Having no access to my Nexus 7 storage, this bypass is unusable
I tried flashing a new recovery using flashboot fastboot. After verifying that I had my drivers installed (Universal ADB by Koush), I opened up adb in the command line (Windows) as an administrator. I could not see my device. I tried the drivers from Asus, multiple USB 2.0 ports, and a different USB cord, but same results. I tried on a different computer. Still no detection.
Systems used: Windows 8.1, Windows 7 (x64), Windows 7 (x86)
I tried using Wug's Toolkit and used Flash Stock + Unroot, since it didn't need USB Debugging enabled. Same results...
I also tried plugging in another Android phone (LG Optimus Dynamic II) to see if Windows would recognize it. Windows recognized it, installed drivers automatically, and was recognized in ADB immediately. This practically unknown phone (XDA doesn't have a section for it yet) could be recognized, but my world famous Nexus 7 2012 can't be seen.
I have absolutely no idea of what to do now...

Yes. Every time I use fastboot, I am in the bootloader.
I'm not new to this at all, so say whatever you need to ^^
The main problem is my PC not recognizing my Nexus 7 through adb. Again, I have used multiple cables with no success.
The computer I am using for this runs Windows 7 x64. I have only tried using USB 2.0 ports to connect my tablet.

Might try deleting the drivers and starting over. I had some issues with adb drivers for both the N7 and the kindle fire on windows 7 as well, but eventually got both working by doing this several times.
I'm assuming you ticked the option for softbricked when trying the flash stock option? If not try again and check that option.

Huge mistake

Hey guys ,let's get straight. I'm totally dumb.
After flashing Lollipop factory img which reseted my internal storage (made a backup on PC), today I decided to try AOSP. Downloaded with my phone, flashed it. But the file was corrupted (bad download or something). Results : I only had that rom on my internal storage, my phone won't boot. I thought I could use NRT, although it as always worked fine, now it keeps telling me "adb device not found", "no fastboot devices". So, actually I can't do anything and I can't see what can I do.. already tried reinstalling drivers, but windows isn't even showing my nexus 4 on device manager
Looks like I need help, and sleep too..

Hmm can you get at least to the bootloader menu. If you can, there's still hope. At this time, you're better off using the manual commands rather than the NRT (the NRT use a set of pre-configured scripts and doesn't always end up where you would like to) Have you tried to also plug your device inside another USB port?

Yes I can acces to bootloader and TRWP. Tried another USB port, another USB cable, using manual commands it says " <waiting for device>" and nothing happen..

What drivers are you using. I use the Google usb driver available here

You also need the android platform tools installed on your pc for adb and fast boot commands to work. I use this installer

Thanks buddy , but my drivers were fine before all this. And now i can't reinstall it that way since my nexus isn't even showing up on device manager, I used another method from NRT. Gonna test on w7..
EDIT: Problem solved using windows 7. There seems to have problem with drivers on windows 8.1

Yes, in windows 8 you need to disable driver signature enforcement. In windows 7 no problem.
