Introduction
Prior to everything, I'd like to thank users open1your1eyes0 and Demiurge7, whose bounty threads I took as model and inspiration in creating this.
This thread, initially created in regards of the needs of Z3 Compact owners, just like myself, is now for the owners of any Z3 device, i.e. Z3, Z3 Compact and Z3 Tablet Compact (and possibly any device of the entire XPERIA Z lineup, with latest updates), who would like to have his device rooted but isn't willing to lose all the Sony proprietary technologies like miracast, noise cancelling audio and, especially, low-light photo enhancing quality algorithms.
What this is all about
The bounty's fulfillment requires obtaining root access in order to be able to backup the TA partition, where the DRM keys for the aforementioned technologies are stored. Once we have a backup for our TA partition, we can unlock the bootloader with the official Sony tool and then restore the DRM keys. In the event of hardware failure, we will be able to restore to stock the phone and to have no warranty issue.
Claiming requirements
In order to claim this bounty, you will need to fulfill each and every one of this points:
1. Be the first person to create or find a method to obtain root access in the latest available software release on the aforementioned devices, without neither unlocking the bootloader nor compromising (or affecting) the TA partition in any way that could prevent a correct and successful backup of it;
2. Give proof of point #1 by posting an adequate quantity of screenshots to illustrate it, together with step by step instructions, in a fashion such that everyone can follow them and reproduce the exploit;
3. Wait for at least 10% of pledgers (fastest quorum achieved between per capita and per pecunia criteria*) to give confirmation about the method functionality;
4. Claim your bounty via PM from pledgers.
*i.e. the fastest between 10% of the number of people and 10% of the amount of money pledged as bounty.

I think this thread must be started in sony crossdevelopment brunch. Root will be the same for all z devices on new firmware, because they are practicaly the same. And amount of money we can collect will increase . Anyway I'm in 20 $

I think it's great that people are giving something for the community, but in my opinion you are doing it wrong. I think it's wrong to give people money to find root exploits, that should be done for free. On the other hand i think we should donate money so we can buy the respected devs devices like the Z3/Z3C so they can develop some goodies for the community. No one needs money or a new device to find a root exploit. Cheers.

Your concern is understandable. For now, of course, it's for Kit Kat only. I specified in the bounty rules that in order to claim the bounty, the root access must be obtained in the latest software release, therefore once Lollipop is out and about the root access will have to be obtained on it in order to fulfill the bounty.

Nothing but our own word. There'd legal actions to be exploited, but none of them would be effective both in regards to the amount per single person and the transnactionality of this forum and its users.

Even the devs need money to live: if this can get both the users and the devs happy, why not?

Actually I have started a thread in the Z3 forum, that i called donation for development. It's not because I don't want to pay, I just think it's wrong to pay people for root. Imagine if there is someone who already found an exploit, thanks for your thread, he won't release it until the right amount of pledges is reached. It's only a way to encourage developers, not to "corrupt the community".

It doesn't really matter, as it's enough to find a working exploit on any android version.
Once rooted, you can install a recovery and flash all the next firmwares already rooted from there

I own a full size xperia z3, not the compact. However, I believe that any work towards the Z3C will be helpful for my device too. I'll contribute $25 to the bounty for the Z3C. If the root exploit works for the full size Z3 I'll make it $50.

Plz don't let this become a discussion topic, this is a topic where people pledge for the bounty and other kinds of questions.
You can think that what we doing is wrong (to each his own), but it's also like telling someone else what to do with their 'hard' earned money. Don't forget that their are plenty of companies like Google, M1cr0$oft that also pay people to find exploits on their systems. How is this any different? People infest their time into finding an exploit.

Only with my conditions, cause I unlocked my Bootloader, maybe I should start a second bounty for bringing drm functions back.

It will come eventually when TA backup could be extracted i think. Untill then i seriously doubt it

May I ask why does it has to be the latest software release? I believe Xperia phones are downgradable, correct me if I'm wrong.
The Z3 root bounty was successful and achieved by downgrading to the earliest version which had an exploit. It's likely that stagefreight 2.0 will be needed in conjunction with a future exploit.

Because these are scammers. I have integrated their SDK and users got virus on their devices. My account has been terminated after few weeks. BEWARE!
