Hey, just dropped in to say that this method worked 100% perfectly for me and I'm rooted on stock 4.0.4 from Stock GB. Ad free is working fine Voodoo as well.
http://nexusshacks.com/nexus-s-root/how-to-root-nexus-s-or-nexus-s-4g-on-ics-or-gingerbread/
where he uses TWRP 2.0 recovery, in the past I've also just swapped it for Clockwork and it works perfectly too
Download the latest superuser zip from ddchains' website and flash from cw recovery. Easy root, just remember to install busybox once you boot into ics

But it will wipe my data.
With 2.3.6 and 4.0.3 there was a way to root without losing data, I suppose their isnt anymore for 4.0.4.
Hi,
I have the VZW LG G2. Currently on 4.2.2 (12a) rooted and running modded hotspot APK. I've been keeping up with the modded hotpot thread, and understand that modded hotspot works on kitkat (24a) as well. My question is, if I flash a customer rom, will the modded hotspot still work? Not sure if the modded hotspot only works on stock or not.
Thanks

if you flash a custom rom you have to wipe system which means your modded hotspot will be deleted and you will have to re-install it and yes there is a working hotspot for vzw kit kat you can either download the hotspot here or you8 can check out one of the vzw kk roms which includes it already like this one

Thanks for your response but the link you provided is for stock variation of lg kitkat. I'm wondering if it will work along the lines of cm11 or slimkat. Still unsure if hotspot needs some variation of lg stock or not in order to work.

Well since you mentioned kk 24a I thought you were talking about stock, in the case of aosp based roms like cm/pa/aokp I can't give an exact answer it could be like how some aosp apps don't work on stock, it might not work with aosp but I cannot give definitive answer

FYI, Flashed slimkat over the weekend. Built in kk hotspot worked just fine.
Hey this is my first post and Im sorry if some of this is a repeat, I looked around for a little bit and wasnt able to find any answers.
I have a note 3 on verizon and i finally got it rooted on MJE. I have SuperSU installed as well as xposed installer as well as wanam xposed and a couple modules. I was trying to update via OTA and it constantly gives me error 402. I have tried hiding superuser and it says on odin? i believe that im on the offical rom and everything.
i just cant get onto kit kat no matter what i do. it downloads and once it tries updating i get the error.
Is there anything im really missing out on with kit kat? I want to install S view all covers and also want the XLTE. thats the main reasons for me wanting to update.
Is there something wrong with my phone? How can i get the update now? Thanks

You need to be unrooted stock to accept the OTA. Currently no way to root the ota. However there is a kitkat build (nc2) that was rooted. This is the build that everyone is working off of, so you can just flash the firmware / nc2 rom and you will be on kitkat rooted.
Thanks for the reply!
I've heard of people still taking the Ota while keeping root by putting supersu on survival mode though. Should I check that off and then click unroot in Supersu to take the Ota? Thanks

You do NOT need to be unrooted, but you do need SuperSU to be in survival mode.

Try installing just the nc4 radio for xlte. Have you tried the leaked NC2 KK? I'd stay rooted personally ... samsung stuff has too much bloat and will run like a pig.

Nope I just I have supersu. I disabled superuser and then I Uninstaller all the modules. I also uninstalled the framework for xposed. Is there anything else that could be causing it?

hello guys,
I rooted my Note 4 SM-N910C yesterday, and everything was fine until now. I saw that reactivation Lock(can't flash via odin when it's on) was off, so I tried to turn it on, but it was not working. I tried everything, but without sucess. I tried to flash a stock firmware from sammobile, and after that, it was working, so I rooted again and It's not working anymore.
So, someone knows a way to root and get it working? Did you have this problem too?
help me :/

this is a kernel related, I think. Everybody says that it still working on Snapdragon's Note 4, but here at Exynos, you can't activate it.

I dont think it is that, I have a friend with the same model that us, and the activation works on his phone :s
So, guys, have anyone solved this problem?
I also have rooted Note 4 and neither "Remote controls" nor "reactivation lock" can I activate...
reactivetion lock not working
I also encountered a similar case but only used through l launch , give me one new idea when it dies in it :good:
Guys, has anybody solved this problem?
Here I am, rooted GS5 with MM fw, before root it worked, as it did with lollipop and kitkat.
After root it doesn't turn on anymore, I reflashed stock recovery too. I guess it's related to knox 0x1, with rooted knox 0x0 kitkat and lollipop I could enable it.
Or maybe it's kernel related, so systemless root with stock kernel could be the solution
Good news, after reflashing a stock firmware I could enable RL back. So it's not knox related but root related. Tomorrow I'll try with systemless root

I think what is needed it to copy your stock recovery from an official touchwiz rom and flash it. You will need a tar.gz converter to flash it via odin. Sometime ago I tried it where your root remains but you have a stock recovery. I believe all those Samsung security features like Reactivation Lock relies on a stock recovery and not a custom like ( TWRP/CWM)

I reflashed stock recovery but still no luck. It's root related, or better kernel related, as someone posted above. I'm on systemless root and it shows "warranty bit kernel" message at boot. With rooted lollipop and stock kernel/recovery it worked

Just flash supersu beta via twrp
You must have stock boot.img, I suggest reflashing the entire stock firmware if you did some modifications

Look...i am currently rooted. I have twrp 3.0 and i flashed super su beta. I dont have any modified or special kernels of that sort...just root. So are you telling me all i need to do is flash the original touchwiz boot.img from the marshmallow rom file ( i will have to go convert it to a Tar file) ???.... And that will give me the ability to stay rooted and be able to use reactivation lock again ???

Ok..thats what i thought.......its best we stay without it then. Or go back completely stock and unrooted to use the feature.
Hello, seen there is no new news about this.. Has anyone got around this?
Can we root and activate the reactivation lock now?
Thanks
Hi all,
It's been a long time since I've been on this forum, but my Jellybean 4.3 Note 3 is lagging and has bluetooth issues, so time to upgrade the ROM. What's the best way to do so, and how do I preserve the unlocked bootloader and rooted condition of the phone. Is it possible to go beyond 4.4.2 and preserve root, or must I stop there at Kitkat? I'm not running Safestrap, just plain old retail 4.3 rooted. What's the best path to the highest version of Android I can use but still keep unlocked bootloader and rooted? thanks in advance for the help.

Your ONLY path to keep root permanently is 4.4.2 There is a rooted ROM for 4.4.4 (and Jasmine 6.1 rooted) but you can NOT reinstall it or reroot it if something ever goes wrong.
All retail Verizon Note 3's have a locked bootloader. Even yours.
However...if all you are seeing is lagging, you can totally clear cache from recovery and/or factory reset to 4.3 and re-root it and that may fix all your current problems...or not.

I'd keep 4.3, except there is the bluetooth stack error where the bluetooth has a known problem, the mac addresses fill up the bluetooth stack, and then bluetooth fails, and needs manual hacking to fix it.
So it sounds like 4.4.2 is the way to go. Is that a stock ROM or a custom ROM?
