Sometimes after booting the phone an icon will go invisible. I can move it and use it as normal, but otherwise I can't see it. A reboot fixes it. Any ideas?
Here's an example with tunein this time
Did you move that app to your SD card? It isn't available until the card finishes mounting after boot. If it is on the card and staying unavailable, you may have a problem with the card.
Not that, I don't move anything to my SD card.
I have the same problem. It first started with the phone icon and it fixed after a restart but now another one is doing the same. It just started to happen earlier today and I hadn't done anything than browsing and listening to music. I'm baffled as well. First time I've seen this.

I have the same problem, but no solutions yet. What happens to me is, it is a couple random apps every time, and they do not fix until re-boot, which then even more go invisible.
Occurred during the second week of ownership for the stock email app. Icon disappeared.

I don't know why, but very frequently with my app downloads either the install request won't go through; or i'll be downloading an app until the market suddenly says I'm say not downloading anything though the status bar on my tab will show progress, except when the download "finishes" nothing happens. Does anyone else have these problems or have any ideas for solutions?
yes, i experienced it today using my 3g connection. I switched to wifi and everything works fine.
I'm having this issue as well. Sometimes after its done downloading it disappears and I need to reinstall. Other times the download stops and disappeares. It doesn't happen enough for it to be a problem for me, as it will usually take the second time around.

Its an amazing device. But it reboots twice a day. I am thinking the problem could be External SD card. 80% reboots happens when I connect my device using USB mode to transfer the music and videos
Does anyone experiencing it and does anyone has solution or work around?

Sometimes it cause by bad contact SIM card. Try clean the card's contact points or replace a new one if your SIM card is many years old.
Seems android phones will try fix the SIM lost contact problem by reboot the device.
It might be a damaged sd card too, it's weird that it happens in that right moment when you plug the usb, try with a different one and see

I have the same problem reboot every time I disconnect it from the pc
My note reboots aleatory from nothing and sometimes really freeze with the screen off and I need to remove the battery to restart :s
Any idea? I really dont want to go change it with a new one because I need to make some kilometers to change it. Was the possibility that it is just software problems and if I flash a new rom it become stable?
The Note come with one old rom (I dont know what rom) and it make some reboots but dont make so many like now. When I connect to a Wi-Fi it say that was a update (16 MB) and I make that update. Then the reboots come with more frequency and make that problem of freeze with the screen of. Today morning I make a Wipe to data and Cache (in Recovery 3e) and reset it. Now it dont freeze but make some FC with the most installed (from markt and Samsung Apps) and sometimes reset with no reason.
TY for any help.
Sorry for the bad english.
EDIT:
I see now. When it is charging(turned off), when it stay "off" (without I see how go the battery) a little time, it freeze. Could be that that's happen when is on and when go to stand-by and it freeze. Anyone know whats happen?
Double post. Delete pls.
I'm starting to think I might have something wrong with my Note. From time to time I'll turn on the screen and go to do something, but it'll freeze, then go black and make the chimes sound it does when booting up. At first I thought touchwiz was restarting since it doesn't always make the chime sound, but now I'm pretty sure it's doing a full reboot.
Yesterday I got the freakout reboot, but this time it booted up into Safe Mode! I didn't even know there was such a thing on Android, but see the attached screenshot. It clearly says Safe Mode in the bottom left corner, and it deleted several widgets from my home screens, and in my app drawer it removed most of the apps from the folders I'd created, but left the folders.
Rebooting took the device out of safe mode, but didn't fix my foldered icons or home screen widgets. Pretty annoying.
Anyone else had any Safe Mode experiences? Any idea what might cause a spontaneous reboot into it?
Since you have AT & T in your profile, could it be that you're posting in the wrong thread?
If you have AT&T Galaxy Note I717, you should go here for assistance:

Restart your phone. . My little boy managed to put my note into safe mode (dont ask me how cos i cant work it out how he did it) turning off the phone and restarting puts the phone back to normal

You enter safe mode buy touching the menu button while the phone boots. If you are not touching menu, then some ap/ software is causing this. Try a factory reset to see if that resolves the problem.

No, I have the international Note. I did just buy an AT&T version, too, but haven't started using it.
I did reboot back into normal mode already. I was mainly wondering if booting into safe mode was responsible for removing all of my aftermarket widgets, non-stock app links in the bottom quicklaunch section, and taking everything out of the folders in my app drawer except for the stock apps. I guess I'll start removing apps and hopefully the problem will go away. The spontaneous reboot happens probably once every other day on average, but just to safe mode that once so far.
my phone used to go into reboot loops often and also very predictable. widgets would not load properly too.
The problem as per me is a buggy apps 2 sd move occurring in the phone (reproducible event every single time i recreate that situation).
Solution that i found the hard way after a lot of trial and error and a lot of frustration (needing to repeatedly reload all my apps) was to go into application manager and delete any apps that are present but blanked out without logos. They are always some apps that have been moved to sd card improperly by the phone.
Sometimes when you try to move many apps fast to sd card in sequence then the move isnt done properly and you get application manager showing the app size as 4kb or 8kb or 12kb etc when the actual app size is many times that or even several hundred kbs or mbs. you will need to uninstall all these apps and reinstal them slowly one by one instead of autoupdating market apps which just recereates the problem if the app has already been moved to sd card.
Also another reason not to auto audate apps that have been moved to sd card is that sometimes when you have many apps then this auto update feature when moving it to sd card does it improperly and previous properly installed app after the autoupdate will cause the device to crash because the sd move is buggy and when you go through application manager then the app size show is at variance with actual size and usually just shows 4kb 8kb or 12kb etc instead of usual size. You will then need to uninstal these apps and start all over again.
Since manually moving apps to sd one by one and removing autoupdate for these apps i havent had issues usually.
Once the phone even got stuck on data signal only and would not let wifi on and when ever switched on it would immediately disable it autoatically. couldnt solve this by rebooting or deleting apps or firmware update (not rooted) and had to do a factory reset to sort the problem.
This is not an issue with sd card as even brand new sd cards cause the same issue again. The problem does not occur if all apps are on internal memory or sd card is removed. so guess it is an issue with phone being unable to properly work when many apps are trying to access info on card that it cant access because of improper transfer to sd card. phone then freezes and goes into reboot loops sometimes for 8hours at a go! only sorts itself when the apps are deleted and works ok when same apps are reinstalled properly.
ps: wondering what the safe mode does though and when it is useful to start in this mode? any pointers anyone.
once i accidentally removed the battery while the phone was on. When i put the battery back and restarted it, it booted in safe mode.
Mine just went into Safe Mode. I had rebooted the phone and put it in my pocket whilst it was rebooting. I rebooted normally and got it out of Safe Mode. There is one very annoying thing and one quite good thing that has resulted from this though.
Annoying thing: Many widgets now need putting back onto the home screens
Good thing: All Apps in the App Drawer are now in alphabetical order !!!!
Use app zorter from the market or clear data of touchwiz. All downloaded apps will be sorted automatically.
Well I had safe mode once after unexpected reboot. Still wondering what the reason was.
I have random rebooting issues with my Note as well. It hasn't always done this but it has been happening for the last few months and it'll generally happen once every couple of days. It does seem to be somehow related to moving apps around as mentioned in previous posts because I've had apps fail to move to SD a couple of times and it has rebooted once or twice whilst in the middle of trying to move an app to SD. It'll also sometimes reboot when auto-updating an app as I can hear the boot sound happening at times when I'm nowhere near the phone. I don't have any apps showing up with a dodgy icon at the moment but I have seen some stuff appear like that in the past and the only solution was to uninstall and reinstall the app; although that's only fixed the app in question, it's never solved the general rebooting issues. The phone will also sometimes lock up and reboot when trying to launch application (this seems to happen more often with newly installed apps at first launch, but that might just be a coincidence).
The only other odd thing I've noticed, which might well be completely unrelated, is that the shortcut for one particular app (the full version of "Where's My Water?") continually disappears from a folder of shortcuts on my main desktop screen. The app itself is usually still on the phone and will happily launch from the app drawer, but if I create a shortcut anywhere else it will always disappear again shortly afterwards and it's literally the only app this happens with. The only reason I mentioned this as possibly related is because the app has appeared with a bad icon once and had to be reinstalled again as if the phone had lost track of it on the SD card.
Anyway, I do get the feeling that the reboots are happening when the phone can't find something on SD storage, or when it can't get data on/off the card fast enough or whatever. God knows how you'd get to the bottom of this or solve it though; the ICS upgrade will probably force me to do a factory reset of my phone so I'm hoping the issue will just fix itself as part of that process otherwise I'll just need to put up with being annoyed at it.
Anyone else notice this? I'm not rooted or anything, running the latest firmware (MJE). I turn notifications off in the apps that I can, and also go into the app manager and disable notifications from there. The thing is, randomly after a reboot the check box in the app manager is checked again. Of course I don't notice this until I get a notification from the app, even though they are still turned off within the app. I've gotten into the habit of checking the app manager first thing whenever I reboot now. I should note that I have the apps on my sd card. I'm waiting on it to happen again to make sure it's only after a reboot, then I'll move it back to the phone storage and see if it continues. Figured I would see if anyone else was running into this though while I wait. I figure it's either an issue with the apps and 4.3, an issue specific to this phone, or the apps don't like being on the sd card.
I put in Samsung SD card yesterday and this stupid notification keeps coming back even after trying disabling notifications. Anyone know how to get rid of this
Swipe to dismiss it. But once you restart your phone, it will come back. It's annoying for sure.
I think Samsung will release an update to fix this bug. I have the same problem too, you're not alone.
you may want to try powering off, eject sim tray, make sure microsd card is positioned properly in tray, carefully reinsert.
after that, hopefully the notification only occurs on boot. I did that yesterday, so far so good. My music app seemed be be having trouble finding music on my sd, which is why i tried this.
I was having the same problem with the sd-card notification so I copied everything and then formatted it in the phone then placed my back ups back in and haven't had the problem since try that it worked for me
Has anyone been able to move apps to SD as reported by Droid-Life? I cannot for the life of me figure out how.

Go to Settings>Applications> Applications Manager> Select the App you want to move> Storage> Change, and select "SD Card"
That will do ti.
PS you cannot do that on preinstalled apps.
Hey guys, just wanted to post a solution to the problem. All of you with this phone, that use an external SD card, are getting an annoying notification that says, "SD card For transferring photos and media," and it doesnt seem to go away. If this message appears over and over again in your status bar, the only known way to get rid of it was to previously just keep "clearing" it out or remove the SD card completely.
If you are receiving a notification "SD card For transferring photos and media" on your Samsung Galaxy S7 and you cannot get the notification to go away, please try to do the following:
1. BACKUP your sd card - plug your phone into your computer and copy off the contents of the SD card
2. On the phone, navigate to: Settings >> Memory >> SD Card
3. In the submenu, choose FORMAT
All of the data on the memory card will be formatted to the correct file system and the memory card will be reconnected to the phone for proper use. The message, "SD card For transferring photos and media" should no longer appear.
Hopefully this helped you out! Thanks!
But didn't most of us formatted the cards already the first time we insert it into the phone, and still getting the notification? At least I did. Do I need to format again?

That doesn't work. I did that a few days ago and while the notifications went away for an entire two days, they came back and never left until I just removed the SD card completely. I even tried taping the SD card in the tray.
Just another bug filled phone from Samsung.

Put my PNY 128gb back in after the update to test. So far so good, but it's only been an hour....
Edit1: Made it through a full day without the sd unmounting. This used to happen every 20 minutes or so before the update. Fingers crossed.
Edit2: Update didn't help. Unmounted a few times today.
I had this problem when I first got the phone on Friday night but it went away overnight. It hasn't popped up since

I figured they would go away when you change it to adoptable storage. Maybe these notifications are a bug Samsung created while trying to hide these SD card features such as adoptable storage from us.
Do you know if using adoptable storage lowers the read/write speeds?
There re two threads about the sd issue on the s7 edge forum and one in the s7 forum. Total of 8 people having problems. I checked several of the other carriers s7/s7 edge forums and not a single post that I could find.
I called T-Mo, and after messing with a tech guy for 10 minutes, they decided I should just get another phone. I was assured over and over again that it would not affect my BOGO submission, but the person who took my replacement order told me to make another submission after I get the replacement, which kind of makes me nervous. This phone if OK if it's free, but I wouldn't pay for it.
