Hello,
Tried to update to lollipop like the rest of the world..well, i should have waited
At first i just ran the flash-all.bat (edited so it didn't include erase userdata and the -w option)
fastboot threw all sorts of errors, too many links, invalid argument
then i tried to run manually the commands, same thing. Not all of them "worked" at once.
Unfortunately I don't have a log.
So now i have a N7 that won't boot past the Google screen
I can get to bootloader but it shows on device manager as Unknown USB device, Device Descriptor Request Failed, so fastboot doesnt help.
I can also get to stock recovery and use adb just fine.
Is there anyway to fix this? sideloading anything?

hello xda community
I made sure to try everything (or almost) before post here
my ZenFone 5 show a message that it cannot mount the cache partition and I am stuck on the Asus logo (I can access droidboot and recovery but I cannot replace them)
factory reset and cache wipe does not make any change (they return the same "can't mount cache" error.
I am trying to change the current droidboot and recovery to fastboot and TWRP but not matter how much I flash them, it does not take change (yes, I am unlocking the bootloader)
I am also executing a script to get the original partitions table back but when sec_offline_update_image.cmd executes the command "fastboot oem partition /tmp/partition.tbl" I get the error "FAILED(remote: GPT command failed)"
as this came out of thin air, I didnt have the chance to activate developer mode on my phone
I starting to get concerned .... any help?
thnk you very much in advance
@dgadelha any help ?

ZenFone 5 - A501CG T00J
Serial # with 0123456789ABCDEF issue
Box info: A501CG2 / A501CG-1F589 / CPU Intel Clover Trail Plus + Dual Core 1.6 Ghz, Purple, 8GB RAM
I already checked basically all links on Google related to the above issues (4 days Googling it already).
I really don't know what to do anymore.
A little more context @dgadelha.
2 months ago, I unlocked my bootloader for the 1st time and installed BlueLight 3.24.40.87... after the installation I locked my bootloader again using the boot, recovery and droidboot images contained in UL-ASUS_T00F-TW-3.24.40.87-user (Asus' official).
BlueLight worked fine with minor bugs for 2 months until past week when it suddenly started to crash a LOT, get slow and overheat (I didn't had time to fix it).
Then suddenly, all Android services and apps on the phone crashed and the phone turned off entering in a bootloop (Asus logo) everytime I reboot.
Since then I am getting the "E:Failed to mount /cache (Invalid argument)" issue when loading the recovery mode.
Since then I am also not being able to flash anything on my phone... no different recovery, no other fastboot and no other image... I get success messages on the flash process but nothing changes after restart (I can still access droidboot and recovery but nothing works there as the "Failed to mount /cache" error pops up for any action I try... recovery mode shows version 3.24.40.87_201).
When I try a system image via adb sideload I get error "Total xfer: 0.00x".
When I try "sec_offline_update_image.cmd" I get an error on the command "fastboot oem partition /tmp/partition.tbl"... the error is "FAILED(remote: GPT command failed)".
I have tried 2 different "partition.tbl" files... one that contains the "spare" partition and another one that contains "misc" instead... both failed.
I am now currently trying xFSTK (I don't even know what this does on my phone) and ASUS Flash Tool... ASUS Flash Tool returns "Flash image failure (FAILED (remote: GPT command failed))".
PS: I forgot to activate developer mode and other related options before the crash.
I hope that my phone is somehow alive... btw, thank you very much in advance!!!

Hi,
Did you have any kernel mods when using BlueLight?
Sorry but I don't know if it had a custom kernel, but a custom one could have lead a storage drive crash.
Also, xFSTK will just attempt to restore your droidboot and dnx/ifwi, not the partition table or w.e.
Maybe you could try extracting the Jelly Bean RAW file with 7-Zip, flash the droidboot signed image (should be like, fastboot flash fastboot file.img, or fastboot flash droidboot file.img), the droidboot signed image name might be something like droidboot.signed_POS.bin (it's an img file too, but with a bin extension).
After flashing that droidboot image, reboot your bootloader and try running the sec_offline_image_update.cmd again.
I wish I had Zenfone Assist active yet, but had to take down it.
Thanks
Hey jaabax, were you able to fix your device ?
Hi @vikrammarkiv.
Sorry for the big delay in response... I am not using this e-mail anymore and I quit fixing my phone.
Unfortunately I could not fix it and I ended up buying another phone.
Could you fix it?
Sorry again and hope you fixed it.
Best regards.
same issue, anyone got any update on fix?

Same problem, only fastboot and GPT failed (Asus zenfone 2 ze551ml). No solution
Exactly the same problem. It appears there are no fixes. How did the xf... thingy go?
Оh man.. I have the same issue, and can't fix it...
Hey everyone,
Earlier today I was able to successfully root my Essential Ph-1 running Oreo 8.1, using Magisk and twrp-mata_11.img . Later on I tried to install Xposed framework, but found myself caught in a bootloop, when the flashed TWRP did not recognized my phone PIN and I tried to reboot the system and take the PIN out. I am able to access the bootloader and use the TWRP when I flash it, and that's it.
I do realize that it fixing it is not really a complex process, but I have been having trouble with flashing with fastboot. Every command I try to run ends up in failure, except the "fastboot devices" one. For example, when I tried to run the "fastboot -w" command, I received the following:
"wiping userdata...
Erase successful, but not automatically formatting.
Can't determine partition type.
FAILED (command write failed (No error))
erasing 'userdata'...
FAILED (command write failed (No error))".
And all others commands showed the "FAILED (command write failed (No error))" message, including when I tried to run the "flash all" file as system admin.
Also, I have only tried to do it in Windows, to no avail, while I am still inexperienced with Linux and cannot connect fastboot to my device.
This is not the first time that I have rooted the device, I did it twice a couple months ago but lost the root because of updates. The difference is that I used my Nintendo Switch Pro Controller cable, which for some reason was the cable that worked the best, instead of the phone's factory cable with a Syntech USB - C to USB adaptor. this time. I found out later on that this cable had issues with this kind of process.
Also, when flashing TWRP in my oldest attempt at rooting, I got the message "system mount fail" when installing the magisk zip, but it never progressed beyond that and my at-the-time rooted phone worked perfectly.
This is my first Android phone after years of Apple(also my first thread here), and I have been excited and experimenting with it a lot, though I've only had it for less than 3 months. I would be really grateful if you guys could help me.
Thank you for the collaboration.
Do not turn it off. Seems that ends in instant brick. Try flashing the return to stock zip

All right, will try. Thanks for the tip
Make sure you have a good cable and good fastboot in your computer
Sent from my PH-1 using XDA Labs
So I was able to pass through some problems from before, but one still persists. When I run the command "fastboot flash-all" on my command prompt, it shows all the options for fastboot, while only "flash-all" shows that there is no such command. I have also tried "fastboot flashall", but that shows the message:
error: neither -p product specified nor ANDROID_PRODUCT_OUT set.
Sorry, I know this is not the fastboot thread, but I'm really lost here.

flash-all is a batch/script file, its not a fastboot command. You simply need to run on Windows
Code:
.\flash-all.bat
or Linux/MacOS
Code:
./flash-all.sh
Just open up a terminal/command prompt, type flash and then hit tab and it will autocomplete the full path.
It worked!
Thought it was already gone for good, I can barely believe it
Thank you very much for all of you, it really meant a lot your help!
So, I've had an issue with fastboot mode for some time, it reacted to everything with a "remote: command not allowed". I tried an sdcard upgrade to stock which did nothing, ran the oem unlock again and that said unlocked succesfully (it was aleady unlocked but ok) then tried to relock, tried to flash every stock image from B896 I knew the partition of - everything returned "remote: command not allowed", also did a fastboot reboot - which worked, if I remember correctly, enabled usb debugging and saved my computers key just to be sure - still no difference.
Later on, I tried reinstalling the fastboot image from the phone itself using dd - that was pretty stupid, I know - especially since there were two files named fastboot and fastboot1 but only one fastboot partition (I don't even, just had to try) and after a reboot it shows no logo, doesn't vibrate, only thing it does is blink the led red-green-green for a minute and power off again. I have a raw backup of the original partition but no way to restore it.
Does anyone know how to repair a diskdestroyer'd fastboot partition? I'm willing to try any risky methods, including disassembly and reflashing of the memory chip. Does someone have a model number for the built in flash storage?
Any help is much appreciated.
EDIT: Fixed, see below.
Hello all, I have a Pixel 4 running the July build of Android (QQ3A.200705.002). I previously had it rooted with Magisk, but I have reset the phone and it's not longer rooted (verified; originally it was still rooted after a factory reset) .When I attempt to relock the bootloader, I type the command
Code:
fastboot flashing lock
However, fastboot just shows me the help message, as if I were to type 'fastboot help'.
When I try to manually flash an image using flash-all.bat (QQ3A.200705.002 for example), I get the following error:
Code:
error: failed to load 'image-flame-qq3a.200705.002.zip': Not enough space
If I try to manually flash individual images, I get various errors. For the boot image, I get an error that says no partition exists (like my boot_a slot isn't there. I can flash it into boot_b just fine). If I try to flash system, it tells me I need to be in fastbootd; I haven't looked up how to do that yet. I am a bit lost here, I've never had anything like this happen before, and the system is completely wiped from a factory reset, so there is plenty of available storage.
I figured out that I was able to update to the August build (QQ3A.200805.001) by sideloading the OTA update, but I still cannot lock the bootloader. This is what happens when I run the command (reference Fastboot 1.png).
I also tried it in Powershell ISE, and I'm getting this error (reference Fastboot 2.png)
Code:
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : NativeCommandError
Almost like fastboot itself isn't recognizing the 'flashing' command.
Thoughts?
I was able to fix it by downloading the latest platform-tools from here: https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
However, I am pretty sure I was already on the latest platform-tools (I had flashed the phone numerous times on Android 10 already), but I digress.
Several months back I encountered the error "E:[liblp]Logical partition metadata has invalid geometry magic signature." when trying to apply updates. I've been unable to apply updates since that time, which has concerned me.
Yesterday I noticed the release notes for a multiple month old release of Lineage Recovery stated the "Logical partition metadata has invalid geometry magic signature." error had been fixed. It made reference to returning to stock to upgrade.
Last evening I downloaded the stock rom for this device and installed it using ODIN. All is well.
I would like to put both LineageOS and Lineage Recovery back on the device. Unfortunately, I can't enter Fastboot. When I use either the key combinations or "adb reboot bootloader" I see the text "Entering Fastboot..." on the display of the device, but nothing more. I've let the device sit for about five minutes without any change. It's definitely not in fastboot because "fastboot devices" shows nothing. "adb devices" shows the device when it's in recovery, I just can't enter fastboot.
Has anyone seen this problem? I've tried wiping cache and system using the Samsung Recovery (which overwrote LineageOS Recovery when I installed the stock rom) without any improvement.
Thanks,
Bob
I've got the same issue. Anyone can help here.?
You are NOT supposed to ever use adb reboot fastboot. EVER! Always use ODIN mode.
If I remember correctly, do Samsung devices even have fastboot?
They don't but Samsung added a what's basically a dummy version of fastboot that does nothing.
Try using the key combowith the tablet connected to your PC. That got me in recovery mode and from there you should be able to go into fastboot.
The whole point is not to use fastboot LMAO, because fastboot on modern Sammy devices is just a dummy version.
