Just wanted to let everyone know, that Google plans to release the "Sand" edition of this phone as well(it's their version of gold). Just found out today from a Google rep. Anyone going to wait for this color? Personally, I'm just going for the white. But figured I would let everyone know here, since I didn't see any word of it on the forums. No idea of when it'll be announced or sold, yet.
Sounds pretty cool.

Are you sure it's not the lighting? Because some parts of the video(mostly at the end when compared to the black Moto X), it looks like the Midnight Blue edition.

I want to say it's the lighting but in the video when compared to the moto x, it's really bright blue. I'm thinking it's a prototype along with a midnight blue one in other shots. I wish there was a blue nexus like that.

It's definitely the lighting. Saw a few more videos where it does the same thing. Out in the sun you'll have the desired blue look you want. :good:

They don't have access to any more information than we do. Also we'd be seeing it pop up in inventory systems at major retailers.

It's our regional field rep, he visits all the stores that sells Google's products(tablets, chromebooks, phones, etc.) spreading knowledge on Google products to help sales associates sell better. He wasn't from a third party. Got a chance to play with his N6, I can't wait to get mine!
Ugh, I was hoping for a better color for any future options. Black, grey, red. I'm not feeling the Midnight Blue and am only settling for Cloud White.
I decided I'm no longer in any sort of rush to get the Nexus 6. I'm going to let it prove itself while giving my 5 month old G3 some time to age and also while giving the development community some time to, well, develop.
Plus waiting means I'll get to get the color I wanted. Got stuck with a black Nexus 5 when I could have waited and got my favorite color red. No rush at all for me. A sand textured Nexus 6 would be great if it's as grippy as I imagine it to be.
Why not release the gold version at the same time as the other colours, like Apple does?
What is the point to wait? They already know consumers like the gold look (Apple proved it) and the Nexus 9 comes in three colours already - so why wait?

Maybe, but the first iPhone was...the first really to mainstream it. I see your point though and that is entirely possible.
They now know that gold coloured devices sell well, which is why they have the 'sand' Nexus 9. They should've just announced it with the other colours.
Can't wait to see it though and how much more it will retail for (I'm assuming it will have a premium, at least on some stores, over the other colours).

The N9 sand colour is not available to purchase yet either. It's the same situation.
Device manufacturers do this to drum up new interest for an older device. So they wait a couple months until stock issues have settled, then they release a new colour or two to get "free advertising" and renewed interest.

Of course, makes sense.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the phone released as gold and then become 'out of stock' for another month or two after it is announced.
I wish there was a black N6.

i just did a screen comparison of my n1 next to my managers new iphone for, on identical pictures the color on the n1 is LEAPS and BOUNDS above the iphone. I will admit that the pixel density on the iphones screen is really really good, but the color reproduction? totally washed out.
AMOLED displays have amazzzzzzing color and contrast, u would think a multimedia focused device, such as an iphone would have taken that into consideration.

That's what I did. I sold my 3gs to get the n1 for att day one. And now I bought the 4 on the 29th and sold it a week later. I was worried that there are cool phones coming to att this summer and I already used my upgrade. But looking at reports I don't see anything coming up.
My n1 does everything I need and would want. And I got a nice pocket change for the iPhone 4. And the cool thing is that my wait time was only 2 hours.

I'm sure they did consider OLED for the iPhone, but there's no way anyone could meet the supply demands. Samsung can't make them fast enough.
Jesus guys, lay off already. iPhone 4 is an amazing piece of hardware, but Android phones are released every other week, and the hardware is bound to catch up and surpass apple's. The article's author clearly has a defective iPhone, writing about it as if it had any kind of relation to all iPhones is at the very least misleading.
We all know where this is heading. The world is moving towards Open, and eventually Jobs will kill iOS with all his crazy "save people from porn" shenanigans. We don't need to act as if they were religions. It's just a fact, with Google backing it, Android will eventually win out.
All iPhones 4's are defective with their external antenna design.
The actual hardware is sweet. Unfortunately the software is all chained up and limited.
Just bought one for my wife. So disappointing that it isn't true that it comes with ICS but still on GB. Store told us to go to Samsung to upgrade but not biting it.not 100% true again for sure.
Oh my, if I only knew it at first!
My wife still very happy though. Most important part of it. Lolz
Samsung now became more unreliable company. They just got too many phones and tablets model too maintain. They couldn't handle the demand, which is their fault!
I think people are a bit too harsh... Samsung never said they'll release this pink Note with ICS onboard. That's what media said, and nobody knows where did that info originate from.
Well, why would the Pink Galaxy comes with ICS? If ICS would have been released I am sure someone would have uploaded for the white or black phone holders. Well color does not make a difference, and Samsung mightbe far behind there promises, but there are superb ICS ROMs in the dev zone.
Hahaha
why would the pink Galaxy Note will come with ICS when it's only a cosmetic changes
@Zamboney
LOL...that statement says so much more about you then about someone that buys a pink Note...LOL
O, and yes...i'm a woman with a white Note, but maybe i would have choosen pink if it had been available at that time...
haha, you just made my day....
cute but
It is cute but still GB
The Samsung site had it listed as GB when it was announced anyways... those ICS rumors were quickly dispelled...
Frankly I don't really understand why would you ever buy a Pink Note for hoping to get the stock ICS on it.
Samsung has never been good before in delivering their promise to date on Official ICS. Much more on their new smartphones that would have stock ICS though, (we'll it remains to be seen in *May 3, that is)
Other than aesthetics and cosmetics are concern, the Pink Notes are basically the same old comparison as the Whites and the Dark Blues.
My take? just wait for the Official ICS to be release, don't gripe. Be happy and enjoy what you just bought.
I admit i got fooled by the media I'm aware that it isn't an special edition one. Bought it just to please someone special to me. Tried to convince her to just wait for the s3 to be release very soon but she's the boss.what can I do?lolz

Thread Closed
Closed as its just turning into a ICS thread, we have a sticky for that.
So, I had started a thread here about the poor responses and feedback I received by phone and then in writing from LG about updates to their products, specifically the G Pad 8.3, but also the G2. I then decided to escalate it to the President's office which yielded the below response in relation to anticipated updates.
I figure since they are still not the best at communicating their intentions this post will at least serve to show people they do have plans to release 4.4 to the G Pad 8.3 and Kitkat at some point, which is great news especially for those who were on the fence due to the uncertainty of update support. Hopefully they do follow through.
EDIT - new update below re: timeframe. Q2.

Hi,
I pinged our mobile HQ to inquire about your questions. KitKat is scheduled for the Gpad, but “2nd quarter 2014” is the closest I could get them to narrow down. I’ll set a reminder to follow up with them and attempt to get a more clear timetable as we enter 2nd quarter.
Thanks

Hi Sean,
As you pointed out, LG hasn’t been the fastest in providing updates in the past, and we’re trying hard to fix that. We appreciate you sharing your compliments regarding our product and your concern with us about post-purchase software support. I have registered your feedback for review internally by relevant teams and have escalated the matter to our headquarters. Since we’re making progress, I believe you’ll begin to see the results of these efforts.
The G Pad is expected to be updated to KitKat, but unfortunately it does not seem that it will be until 2014. Regarding the G2, it is coming but the final build will also have to be tested and vetted by our carriers so a precise timeline is hard to determine.
I know that this answer likely falls short the clear details & timelines you were looking for, but your feedback has been shared with the right teams to begin making improvements in this aspect of our post-purchase support.
Thanks again for your candid & constructive feedback,

Thanks for your effort. I really hope the "2014" doesn't equate to Q2 or Q3 like I have a feeling it will. This is basically LG's only tablet at the moment and it's WiFi only. What takes them so long?

Hopefully it will be Q1, or at least in line with other brands when they begin to launch it. I wasn't expecting miracles, but it'd at least be nice if they announce intentions such as this officially. I wouldn't expect the updates any faster than Samsung, Sony, HTC etc, so at least they have now told us they plan to do it. Now it's just a matter of them following through.
Hopefully if enough people inquire and push for it they will learn to become more vocal about their intentions. At the very least it'll generate more sales for them.

Well at least they're not like HTC and make false promises. I'd rather them be quiet about it than tell us a date they won't keep. HTC went from September to end of 2013 to Q1 2014 on my DROID DNA update.
Oh no. Last time when I heard this "next year update", the device didn't get any update at all. But it was ZTE, not LG. I trust LG. I like them. I like their hardware and software too. They might be a bit slower than the other's when it comes to updates, but they always update their devices.
But anyway, getting newer and newer updates (defacto Android) is cool and stuff, but actually I'm pretty satisfied with this 4.2.2 too. It's not that smooth as an iPad (I bet even the 5.0 Android won't be that smooth...), but at least it's stable, without major bugs and stuff.
The only thing I'm afraid of is if they won't announce the Nexus 8, making the G Pad dead.

I'm guessing their top priority is the G2 which is of course more complicated b/c of the network radios and different carriers to support. They'll probably finish the G2 first before they even bother with trying to port their Kit Kat-updated rom to the G Pad. Which is kind of stupid, b/c it would probably be easier to start with the G Pad and then move to the G2.
I hope they can keep their words and release a KitKat update for G2 in Q1 2014.

I have the blue line I took my first back because of it and light bleed my 2nd one has the blue line as well. It really depends on the person some people can't live with it some can. I would not let it stop you from trying this tablet The G Pad is by far the best tablet I have had I love the size and weight the blue line on mine only shows up when watching a movie after about 20 minutes sometimes it shows up you only see it when there is black at the edge of the screen any other colors at the edge of the screen look normal. The line is one pixel thick very thin line. The way I use my tablet it is very rare I see the line to be honest I am not on my tablet for more then 30 minutes at a time unless I am ready on my Kindle app. If I am going to watch a movie I have a 60 inch HD TV for that. I recently was on a train and did watch a movie the line never bothered me it was there but my movie was wider aspect then the screen so I had black bars at the top and bottom of the screen my eyes never looked bast the movie to the top of the screen where the blue line is. You will have to decide for yourself if it bothers you or not.
Yes, looks like it's a "feature" of all the G Pads. But honestly, it's a really really thin line, I gues it's just a 1px. line

I have just returned my G2 (here in Denmark) with massive backlighting issues and and a dim auto light.
Question: wouldn't that be something that i.e. an upgrade to 4.4 could solve by setting/correcting the auto settings in the light sensor or?
About bleeding light, is there a poll where the percentage of units have been added up.. - I could find one on N7 2 .
I have doubts about buying a 2nd unit.. and would like to know have many have received a "perfect" unit - the return proces here is about 10 days..
i've not noticed any blue line anywhere. Where and when does it appear?
Hey guys, how you all doing?
Just wanted to know your opinion. Currently I am a phoneless guy since my Nexus 5 died a few days ago and since I gave up on the ZTE Axon 7 due to the lack of support from ZTE to the mod community. I am really, really, really eager to finally see what Google is up with the new Pixel phones. Some rumors say that it will be a tough phone to root and mod due to the two partitions for seamless updates and the startup check, etc, etc. That is worrying me a bit. But, since I am a bit desperate to get a new phone, the wait is just cruel, unbearable, excruciating! Yesterday I came across the Nexus 6P, the 128GB version to be more specific, at Amazon. Taking the Nexus 5 as reference, I know that I can rely on the support from the mod community to always have new and updated stuff, since we are talking of a phone that was launched just one year ago. SO, what would you do? Buy a consolidated phone that is the Nexus 6P with tons and tons of mods available, or wait for the Pixel XL?
Sorry for the long text!
Regards!
i would wait for the pixel xl especially now as the release draws closer. the nexus 6p is no doubt the best nexus ever made IMO but the pixel may very well be better. about modding, android has went through many changes that appeared as the death of the developer community but the ever so skillful and dedicated devs here at XDA always seem to find a loophole. it may take time, but eventually, root will be achieved!

Huh?
Root on a Pixel or Nexus device?
Unlock the bootloader and flash?
That is the one advantage that has always existed on Google/Nexus devices.
If the bootloader is unlockable, then root is pedestrian at best.
Here is mY 2 cents. I literally know nothing about the new pixel phone as I have no interest in getting it. The only thing I do know that I could suggest is number one HTC is a dying company and I believe that's who makes the phone. It seems to be a love-hate relationship depending on who you talk to but in my opinion they make some of the worst phones available. Number 2 the pixel phone is going to be close to $700 where as the 6p is now selling for under three hundred depending on where you go which is a gigantic difference in price. Again I don't know the specs the ins and the outs of the new pixel phone however a $400 price difference and the name HTC would lead me to say go with the 6p. Remember how well the last HTC Nexus device when? Probably not cuz it was basically a pos that nobody gave a damn about

I'm working twelves and the phone makes it through the whole shift with ghostpepper profile applied. Anyway like previous post what a deal and for the price of pixel, what a steal. Good luck and thank you.

i know man seems like google is bringing the nexus out of the dev phone spectrum and is targeting it towards the average consumer now with all of this new pixel branding and stuff i don't understand why though as it took them a long time to make the nexus brand popular and now they are ditching it when it's better than it ever was. :/

1.8 rating dude...
I just got a €390 128GB Nexus 6P, new. On ebay from a guy who bought it and had a problem. While he waited for the substitution from Google he bought a different phone and wanted to cash back as soon as possible. I was suspicious but the phone arrived in the box, completely sealed and everything was legit. Sometimes you get lucky (and considering I needed it to substitute my Note 3 who got destroyed in a fall, Spigen case and tempered glass protector notwithstanding... I sort of deserved it).
Pixel XL doesn't convince me. Smaller screen first of all. With screens it's relatively easy to go bigger... but going smaller? Not for me.

Yes, some times you get lucky. I didn't! I started asking questions and out of the blue I received an email from Amazon telling me that the guy canceled the the sell because he didn't have the phone . So I promptly bought a 64GB that is fullfiled by amazon, of course.
Got mine less than a month ago. 390 Euros .. the 64Gb version all bran new.
I don't think it's worth paying 700$ for the Pixel XL for the 32Gb version. Didn't see anything worth wasting money on. No major hardware changes that will make that a good deal.
I tend to think the Sold Out is artificial, how could they not have been ready for roll out with all the ads and publicity?
Perhaps they're purposely trickling them out, waiting on real world reports, before some battery blow up or other fiasco happens and having to recall millions..
Better safe then sorry, right Samsung, Sony?

Seriously, how could Google not understand that their products sell? It started with the Nexus 4 and it's been the same EVERY SINGLE RELEASE.
They do this on purpose it seems, because come holiday season, it's magically available again. Plus, the 32gb Silver XL is still available, how is that possible?
Hopefully it's not a bait and switch where their Hardware vendors run out of a certain part and they have to Source it from a different vendor and it's not the same quality as the original.
ie white casing cracking, black glass being weaker, screens with strange hues, cameras with halos, slower ram, batteries buldging ect..
Black Xl 128 was showing up in stock every 6-7 hrs for 20mins. Then it was Silver Xl 128.. Why not keep allowing preorders and fill orders as they become available?

Really don't think that's the case. It's probably just waiting maybe an extra week for a new shipment from wherever HTC's manufacturing building is located. Don't be fooled, Google isn't building these things in Mountain View, CA, as they'd have you believe.
I'd really like to see the initial numbers from the Nexus 6P last year. How many were ready to go at launch? They have to have these figures.

Yea it says made in Taiwan in the back, but Samsung has been known to hoard thier screens, especially now with their Note7 troubles. My main reasoning towards moving to a Pixel is its screen vibrancy.

NEW IMPROVED PIXEL with 5.7" screen and stylus? hmmmm. before you realize it's too late KA-BOOM!
Man everyone is a conspiracy theorist here?
Google never said these phones were made in the USA. It's widely known that HTC was doing the manufacturing. And to be honest compared to the Nexus's this is the first time a lot of my friends have even mentioned a google phone. Most probably don't know what a Nexus is. That + the previous amount of nexus's sold + the Note 7 Fiasco probably put in way more preorders than expected.
I mean iphones have been selling like hotcakes for years and they sell out too.

Widely known? Where in the official documentation and release presentation was HTC mentioned at all? What about the TV commercial spots, or on pixel.google.com?
As in every tech review mentions HTC one way or another as the company that helped manufactured. The way you are saying it every single apple presentation should also say ASSEMBLED BY FOXCONN, or MOST PARTS MADE BY SAMSUNG
the Note 7 will have been a big sales booster, I wouldn't have one if my Note hadn't went back and when talking to EE placing the order the rep said the vast majority of people returning the Note's were taking the Pixel and to a smaller extent the iPhone, so chances are with this Google has just hit a gold mine on the back of Samsung's failure.

I liked the email I got from O2 telling me to get an xperia for a renowned Sony camera, yet they are in pretty much every phone and the best tend to go to other firms and not the Sony phones.

While I'm really enjoying the PIxel and it's fast as crap. My wife and I have had Notes since the 2 so yeah pretty much on the same boat. I would have a Note 7 right now if it weren't for the chance of death. Great example too.. Everyone also should say as they are presenting their cameras.. SONY SENSOR. The iphone , pixel, even many Samsung's in the past use them along with most of the phones cameras in the world.

Ask a random person who owns an iPhone 6 "hey, do you know who built your phone?" and I guarantee you that they will say "Apple."
The Pixel was engineered/designed by Google while HTC built it. There is nothing wrong with that, but it's just a little bit of false advertising especially since HTC is a known and current phone designer/builder themselves.
Lastly, I'm not talking about the tech sites that review the Pixel. I'm talking about the lack of HTC in the advertisements that joe schmo will see on TV.

Sorry i'm a little confused here. Foxconn assembled all of apples iphones and ipads too? So what difference is there when someone else assembles google's phone.
BTW https://www.google.com/nexus/6p/ Huawei manufactured the 6p and it's only mentioned in a battery test disclaimer at the bottom of this page in the light letters.
http://www.theverge.com/circuitbrea...26/blackberry-dtek60-price-announcement-specs
Blackberry in their release to the average joes definitely doesn't mention it's made and mostly based off a TCL design.
I'm not saying there is no marketing shadow games going on here but it's an extremely common thing.

Huawei is plastered on the back of the 6P.
I don't know enough about Blackberry to comment.
The only difference between Apple and Google in this case is that Apple doesn't say that their iPhones are built by Apple...at least I don't think so. They don't mention Foxxcon, but they also don't say they built it themselves.

It's like the Maserati has a Ferrari built engine and is owned by Fiat Chrysler. Why reinvent the wheel, or waste money building wheel making facilities, when you can have an existing manufacturer build them to your specifications. This happens all over the manufacturing world.
LG/Samsung make great screens, Sony makes great camera sensors, Ben & Jerry's make good ice cream..
Anyways, anyone remember the G1? It was the HTC Dream (first phone with Android), it had no HTC logos either. Most it had was T-mobile in front and "with Google" on back.. (I still have mine)

What Google is doing would be as if Ben & Jerry claimed that they make the cup which contains the ice cream.
I know that's a horrible analogy, but I thought it was funny.
