Whenever I hit skip, it'll show a blank page with a status bar and the back navigation key and then just take me to the wifi menu. I can't skip the wifi menu (The button is disabled). I've reflashed twice (using flash-all.bat) and used the stock recovery to restore to factory settings. Any help is appreciated. I used the leaked ROM but I heard it's the same.

Same here. I flashed the factory image from the Google site. I get connected to WiFi, but the next screen has "Skip" greyed out, and it just stalls ("Checking connection..." "This can take up to a minute"). I'm rebooting now and trying again, and will report back.
Update: Same thing. I know the WiFi connection is good, but I guess I'll try again when I get home tonight.

About to try with a redownloaded image. Glad to know it's not just me. I should add that one of my many tries to hit skip, it popped up a message that said "Google Play Services is not responding". I'll update after I reflash.

Any luck? I ended up flashing 4.4.4 again. Waiting for it to boot.
Hell, I can't even get the Nexus Root Toolkit to see my device, much less flash anything. Frustrating.

I wish it was so simple for me. I had to disable the setup manager using this post. I still can't set up my google account. I found out it was Google Play Services that wasn't me allowing to do anything.

From Lollipop, Google wants user has a working net connection to boot up.
Prob 1, Your wifi has an active firewall to prevent accessing google servers.
Prob 2, You don't have a sim card or data plan.

Probably next time you can try choose language like "Chinese"(中文简体), Cuz' here we have firewall to block Google, Probably google knows that so the connection check only last for one minute. This worked for me.

I was able to finally get my phone upgraded to 2.2.1 FroYo, but now (this happened one day when I woke up and checked my phone) I've lost the ability to check the option to "allow app installations from unknown sources" as well as I now have a 'permanent' sliding lock screen that I cannot remove/fix no matter what I do. I've tried playing around with all of the "Location & Security" settings to see if that would remove the sliding lock screen, but the only thing I found I could do was add an additional lock (pattern, pass code, password). I also tried wiping the different cache's available via bandroid's Recovery app and the Android Recovery, but neither worked. I tried resetting the phone entirely and that didn't work either. I tried re-flashing 2.2 via RSD Lite as well as applying the update via the Recovery screen, but neither of those worked either.
I noticed that when I'm at the Android Recovery screen, I still receive errors, which are:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/caller
I was thinking that one or both of these had something to do with my problem(s), but I haven't been able to find those files(?) or how to fix this.
Any additional help would be awesome.
EDIT: I now have found that neither bandroid's Overclock nor Bootstrap apps work anymore. When I first installed them, they worked fine, but now I'm getting errors with both. With the Overclock, it keeps telling me the "module didn't open" or something and with the Boostrap, it says it was "successful," but it happens almost instantaneously (which didn't happen before) and I'm unable to use the "Reboot" button.

you need to re-root. just run super one click, then reboot, then my apps will work again.
then you can use my app if you want to enable unknown sources: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bandroidx.nmaenabler
or there are free ways to do it (well kinda, they require more expensive apps) that are in the forums here.

oh thanks, sorry i mis understood OP.
yeah that might be a requirement in froyo on phones. There is a tablet tweak in CM7 that allows you to disable the sliding lockscreen but idk if that is portable to the bravo or not.
Oh, okay. Well, that's a let down. When I first updated the lock screen wasn't there. It all of a sudden appeared a couple of days ago after the update.
Would there be a way to disable or change that via the bootloader or a mod? It is pretty annoying having to slide to unlock every time now.

I will look into it, i think its there to avoid accidently pressing the screen like crazy, all you would have to do is bump the power button in your pocket and you would be dialing and txting everyone lol

Have you tried "No Lock"? It turns it off for me.
Bandroid - I believe line 61 in com.motorola.android.providers.settings turns it on/off
(If you're looking into the lock screens, I would love a way to turn that off, but keep the pattern-unlock)
Before the update I could turn off all of the lock screens and the only button that turned the screen back on was the lock/power button, bandroid. It even worked for a couple days after the 2.2 update and then it changed one morning when I checked my phone.
I'm also now missing the "unknown sources" option in the applications settings. I'm not sure where it went, but I was able to root my phone again and enable third party apps via super one click.
I tried clicking the "disable" option for the lock screen, but that didn't remove the "sliding" lock screen.

Awesome. That "no lock" app worked nicely. The only thing is that now the volume rocker buttons turn the screen on, but that's not really a big deal to me.

Whenever I turn on or reboot, a box comes up, "Mobile Data" telling me what I already know, "Mobile data connection is currently disabled. You need to connect Mobile data to use data applications, such as Browser, Email, and You Tube via Mobile network. Do you want to make the connection?"
This box appears with or without sim card, WiFi on or off, but whenever I boot or reboot. The only time the box doesn't come up, is when mobile data is on, which you can't do, without having the sim card installed.
To eliminate box on boot, leave sim card inserted with mobile data on. I have a Samsung Note, same conditions, there has never been a box pop up at boot or reboot. Easy to click cancel button go move on, but box is irritating, so would like to make it simply go away when device is booted!
No One?
No one has experienced this on their P6800?
I get the same thing - SIM card inserted but data turned off, receive a popup when booting.
It's only one tap to dismiss, and how often are you rebooting anyway! Mildly annoying, but not a big issue for me...
Agree
Not a big deal, yet same setup for Tab's little brother, the Note, and no box. Perhaps the difference between Gingerbread 2.3.6 and Honeycomb 3.2. It still would be nice to not have that box pop up whenever booting/rebooting.

Hi,
I've got an iconia tab A500 that I have upgraded though Wifi to Ice Cream Sandwich.
It was working perfectly fine.
Issue is that my daughter tried to much time a bad 'draw' to login and now the laptop is locked.
It's asking me a google account and everytimes it failed.
I searched a lot on the internet and I try to restore an old ROM
(I tried this one Acer_A500_7.006.03_COM_GEN1)
I placed the update.zip file on a sd card and try the volume - + POWER
an upgrade has been done but now the laptop is stucked every time on the 'ANDROID' message after the ACER logo.
What can I do ?
Please help
Unfortunately the USB debug was not activated
Thanks for your help
I have to admit this post seems dubious.
why would you want to go to the trouble of reloading a new rom when the existing one works, and you could just go to google.com and retrieve your account info?
the point is that I know very well the draw to do to open the tablet
but as now my little daughter locked it, I can't do it.
It is asking my google acount and refuse it every time.
about the google account I remember that I created a different one for the tablet (I have already one for the pc, one for my phone) and everytime the laptop refuse the password that I maybe don't remember very well.
Now even if I change it on google, it won't be updated on the tablet as the Wifi is not activated and as I can't log in.
My wish is just to be able to redo the draw to login as I know it what seems impossible. At this stage I'm totally stucked.
And FYI, this is a proper tablet and I have the invoice
ok matey u can of course see why this subject would raise questions,
there must be a way to switch on the wifi or it would be a HUGE flaw in the system lol ill have a look around when im on break from work.
thanks.
here are some proposals that could help me:
1) be able to reactivate the DRAW login as now it is asking me everytime the google account
2) be able to know which google account I used on this tablet (I need at least the login so I can try to change it on Google recovery but remaining issue will be that If I'm changing it it won't be updated on the tablet because tablet is not starting and Wifi was unactivated
3) in the worst case, be able to restore the tablet in its original factory state
FYI, my laptop was in ICS and was updated properly through Wifi (activated manually /then unactivated to keep battery)

but you said in your last post you manually updated the tab with a rom?.
if you try to login the tab should give you the option to switch on wifi.
if you cannot remember your google login check your other e-mail addresses for the confirmation email you would have received to set your secondary address. this will contain your google account info.
no
I have the tablet since one year and I'm upgrading it though Wifi.
My last upgrade was done through Wifi to ICS.
Now issue is that as my daughter locked the laptop I can not enter in.
I'm not able to activate the Wifi or the USB debug as I can't log in.
I can not go back to either the draw login (what could be the best solution for me)
now it is asking me only the google account and every time it is rejecting my password
the issue is that even on the google recovery tool with my mail address, the site is not sending me the password to my mail address but it is asking me only to change it what I did but as there is no Wifi activated and as I can't login I'm always at the same point.
I insist on the fact that this is a proper tablet, that this is mine, that I have box and invoice.
So now I'm trying to restore other roms to have a clean tablet or even better just be able to redo the draw (this I remember).
But now everytime I'm login in it is display 'too many attempts' and asking me the google account
A friend came round with his new iconia to put software on it,
however when he tried to unlock it, he had already forgotten his password swipe. (he had'nt even had it a day...).
Eventually I managed a full (factory) reset, that wiped everything.
It was one of these 2 methods (I think it was the one using the rotation lock, but I may have done the other one first).
http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/tablets/2011/Acer/ICONIATab/ICONIATabA500/IconiaTabA500faq51.shtml
http://www.hard-reset.com/acer-iconia-tab-a500-hard-reset.html
Hope it helps
*edit*
The exact sequence I did was this
1. Switch off
2. Press Vol-up + Power
3. If display goes on: Release power but hold vol-up
3. Toggle Lock switch (On>Off>On>Off)
Screen will display:
Erasing Userdata..
Erasing Cache..
Thank you, even I think I already try this I will try this again this evening.
thing is do you know if this is still working when laptop is upgraded in ICS ? (Ice Cream Sandwich - latest firmware available for A500)
Thanks

Unfortunately, I don't know if it works with ICS...
It worked for me with the previous OS...
Try anyway...
Good Luck
It would help and be slightly less confusing if you stopped referring to the tablet as a 'laptop'. A laptop is an entirely different device from an Acer Iconia tablet.
:good:
Hi,
I try method 1 and it worked fine !!!!
In fact the tip is to stay 3 sec and Power button and to play with lock button when tablet vibrates - staying with finger on volume + button
My data have been erased but I don't really care. Good news is that I can now use again my tablet. I have now to reinstall the games for my son. he will be happy.
You save my life ! Thanks !

I got my new S8+ today and set everything up using only wireless. During setup, I forgot my google password so I reset it. After I got everything setup, I shutdown and inserted the SIM card. To my surprise, my phone reset completely. Now when I try to reconfigure the phone, during the google password authentication process, I get a message that I the phone was reset and because of the password change I can't use it for 24 hours?? What kind of crap is that? Does anyone know how to get around this??? I can't use my new phone at all because I can't get logged in??

Can you login and authenticate on a web browser? Have you tried to boot into stock recovery, do a factory reset and don't login to your google account during setup?
Try PWR + VOL UP or PWR + VOL Down to get into recovery mode once you boot up the phone.

Yes, I was able to factory reset but it didn't solve the problem. Googles ridiculous security won't let you use a new password on a phone that has been reset for 24 hours? Why can't you verify who you are and continue. Severe overkill if you ask me. The worst thing is, I didn't reset the phone, the google software did! All I did was setup the phone and reboot it and it reset itself...
Even weirder, is that during the setup, you can say you forgot password. You then have an option to send a request to reset your password to your old device. When you say yes, your old device gets a prompt and you can reset your password. Even that doesn't work on a reset phone!
The more I think about this google security method, the more I realize it is designed to punish one person, the true owner of the phone. If my phone had been actually stolen, and it wasn't me that reset the password or the phone, the thief will still have access in 24 hours so that part of the security hasn't played any part at all. So I the true owner of the phone is being punished because my phone reset itself. Makes no sense at all. Security has to be something that is logical and not crippling. This policy cripples your phone and punishes you if you have an accidental reset. Thanks for nothing Google!!
Sorry to hear that. By any chance you called Google for tech support?
Call up google and they should be able to fix it.
Also you can skip the google account and log into the phone you just cant use gmail or playstore.
And there is a way around this i just dont remember what it was. Had to do this to my wifes phone a while back when she forgot her password.
I think it was to skip the google sign in, in setup. Then add the log into google via the web browser and then add the google acccount via system accounts.

Not sure if this new with OS7 but you cant get by the Google log on screen any longer. The NEXT key is greyed out so you cant bypass. Only have 5 more hours to wait.

Thats sucks and good to know. Sorry you had to be that guy to find out for the rest of us. Thanks for taking one for the team!
You have to wait 24-48 hours to get into your phone. It'a a security measure from google against stolen phones.
I had the same problem with an S7edge, depending on firmware version there were methods to bypass the FRP ( if I remember well). I succwded after 6 hours using a bluetooth handfree, launching s-voice, launching a program who disabled the FRP.
What is very frustrating is that in my google acount S7edge was there as my device, but there was no option to skip login to google in the initial setup.

I apologize if you did not get your bootloader unlocking!
At the moment, there is no information if the classic exploit will return, if it has worked for you, please make a post about it on this thread!
We will go back to work to ensure pixels will get unlocked. I do not know how long it may take, it could be a few days, a few months or a few years. For this reason I'd respectfully ask you for no ETAs on the development on the exploit.
I may keep this thread open if people are willing to crack on something or need help.

I wanted to make a new thread to clean things up as the correct answer is buried so far into the VZW thread and I don't believe people have time to dig down that far to do something so simple.
Please give @RaspberryPiBen a thanks by going to his quote for finalizing my rant and making it into doable steps.
The work by the community is absolutely incredible.

Here is what worked for me:
Prerequisites:
No SIM card in the phone
ADB and Platform Tools installed on a computer (https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/)
The latest OTA image downloaded to the computer (https://developers.google.com/android/ota#sailfish for the Pixel or https://developers.google.com/android/ota#marlin for the Pixel XL)
The phone connected to the computer with USB
Learn how to use ADB and Fastboot on your computer as it can differ.
Steps:
1. On the phone, open Settings>System>Reset Options and factory reset the phone. It should say "Restarting" or something similar.
2. When the screen goes black, press and hold the Volume Down key until you get into the Bootloader mode. Use the volume keys to navigate to "Recovery Mode" and select it with the power button.
3. Hold the Volume Down key for about a minute (while it resets) until you see an android lying down.
4. Hold the Power button then press the Volume Up button once. It should give you a menu.
5. Use the volume and power buttons to select "Wipe Data/Factory Reset" and confirm the reset.
6. Once it finishes, select an option that is something like "Sideload OTA"
7. Go to your computer and type in 'adb sideload sailfish-ota-qp1a.191005.007.a3-394b5899.zip' (without quotes) for the Pixel or 'adb sideload marlin-ota-qp1a.191005.007.a3-23002a57.zip' for the Pixel XL OR you may drag the zip file into the command prompt after typing "adb sideload", either way it should look similar.
8. Factory reset again from recovery mode
9. Reboot to system
10. While it just shows the G, press the power button until the phone restarts
11. Once it boots up, skip all of the steps but disable the options for sending information to Google.
12. Enable Developer Options by tapping "Build Number" seven times
13. In Developer Options, enable USB Debugging
14. On your computer, run 'adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.android.phone'
15. Reboot twice
16. Connect to WiFi
17. Open google.com in Chrome
18. Check Developer Options to see if you can enable OEM unlocking
19. If you can't, swipe away Settings from the Recents menu and go back to Chrome
20. In Chrome, open a bunch of websites. After opening each one, check the OEM Unlocking option again and close Settings afterward.
21. Once you can enable it, do so! Now you can unlock the bootloader.
Unlocking the bootloader:
-Reboot and press the Volume Down key when the screen goes black
-On the computer, type 'fastboot flashing unlock'
You just unlocked the bootloader!
Credit goes to djared704 for finding this method.

Hey guys. After 5 months of my purchase I finally achieved bootloader unlocking. Basically I am a user that has never updated to latest, I don't know if it makes it a variable if you're already on latest and try this. (I was coming from Sept 2019). So what I did was factory reset from the system menus. Then as soon as the screen went black, I did bootloader combos and straight to recovery. I factory resetted as prep, flashed DECEMBER patch, then after that finished, factory resetted again. Essentially, I followed the classic ADB exploit that has "never worked since Sept-Oct 2019" And yes I do have the VZW_001 CID and "_VZ" in GL website. Know when yours is bootlooping as soon as you reboot it, just hard reboot so it boots up quicker, I don't know what it does for it to take so long. Anyways when you get in, just setup like we'd always do, NO google account, turn off all setting requests (Data location, wallpapers, etc). Then as soon as I got in, I turned on debugging, ran the classic adb pm command, rebooted TWO times. This means as soon as I booted, i swiped to go to home, then rebooted a second time. As soon as I did that, I loaded up my wifi connection, I don't know if it matters but Im using the 5G wifi, then I load up google.com. Immediately, I already notice something strange. Google.com doesn't have a "valid SSL certificate" I thought it was weird, so I went to google.com on my PC and look certified SSL. As I knew that was weird, I was clicking around and I thought that was enough. so I went to the dev menu. OEM lock still grayed out. I went back to chrome and simply typed in "youtube" Let it load up. Then I clicked on the site. I went back to the dev menu. Still grayed out. I exited settings app and relaunched it to the dev menu. OEM unlock lit up in flying colors. I could not believe it. I instantly ticked it with 0 hesitation and rebooted immediately to the bootloader. The unlock command worked! I am now unlocked sailfish! I thank the community so much for all the hard work. I, only motivated the community to their potential. Thank you again!
Generally there are some kinds of factors.
Users have stated before if you OTA'd from menus to Latest patch, it would say "October", even though it's really december. This may make the unlocking procedure impossible. I have also not seen any marlin users report back to me yet about this method. You can still try flashing from googles site if you're already on "October = Dec".
Enjoy guys. We proved WE own these phones, and not VZW.

I hope you enjoy this guys. Regarding it, I do not know how long it will stay for so I suggest to do it now. At the moment, I do not know if this will work for pixel 2 and so on. You may try it but if you have issues you must go to your device board. Thanks.
I Can Confirm it works on Sailfish... unlock my phone on the day its discovered (July 15 ).
Big Thanks
Can this method apply for pixel 2 XL Verizon with July patch 2020???

How long does it usually take for people to get the option active? I followed the steps 3 times and tried loading a bunch of websites but no luck unfortunately Maybe just need to keep trying?

How much websites did you try to load? Did you go online only after uninstalling android.phone? Cheers.
Not sure, but I was at it for around 5 minutes with no luck.
And yes I only did wifi after uninstalling the android.phone like in the steps

Try a reboot and clear data of the settings app and visit various sites. Let me know how that goes. Cheers.
Tried that and still no luck.
Oh well, I'll probably keep trying tomorrow or something, not a huge fuss as I've since bought a new phone, but would've been nice to play around with custom ROMs on this pixel.
I went to check the IMEI number for my phone but it says "Unknown" in the settings now? Not sure if that contributes to it

So I tried following the bootloader unlock instructions 3 times but still couldn't get my oem unlock button to activate om the night of July 18. @djared704 What do you mean by clear data of the settings app, just like clear the app from recents?
Hi! Please, remember that the button may be greyed out, but it may be toggable anyway. So try to toggle it even though it's greyed out. Good luck!

Your IMEI is either unknown due to uninstalling android.phone, or actual corrupted/blacklisted EFS. If true, nothing can be done about that.
When you reset the device, did you flash December Android 10, and in the setup process, disable all the requests (data location, wallpapers, etc).
Is there a sim card in the phone?
Cheers.

I just retried the instructions and tried the toggle even though it was greyed out and it doesn't look like it worked. It wouldn't flip to "on" no matter how many websites I tried.

That's strange. Have you tried repeating the process a second time?

This was literally my 4th time trying. I bought my phone off eBay so I'm honestly not sure if it's a verizon variant. I tried a checking my IMEI on the Verizon and Google website, neither of them actually indicate that it's a Verizon phone. But if it's a Google phone I expected to be able to unlock my bootloader already... idk Maybe it came from Canada or somewhere else like the UK.

If you can gather enough evidence that your device is a Google store device, you can go here.
To get a 50% chance of displaying actual correct device, you can download Simple CID Getter on the Play store.
Cheers. Let me know how it goes.
