Its getting worked. Bug LG to release source faster and you will get it faster

Will laser focusing be supported?

I can't understand why you people don't just subscribe to the nexus line of devices.

Stock LG lollipop does look nice. Looking at videos (which I know aren't final releases), I noticed a lack of the lollipop app open/close animation, which I was a bit upset about.
Waiting for CM to get to a more stable point to flash, then hoping CM gets their lollipop on soon

I agree. I had an n5. Having good Roms and **** getting updated daily isn't as good as it seems to be, 1 your battery never optimizes, 2 there's always bugs and reboots and kernel crashes that seem to get fixed after a while but more problems occur.
After g3 tweaksbox, gravity box (just for pie controls), aosp theme for icons and pulldown it feels like a nexus. But you cant beat having an sd card removable battery, this camera quality and this speaker. Yea i had to use a kernel with faux gamma and sound (skydragon) and greenify to get nexus smooth but i dont really mind that
I tried going back to stock android but I just find the g3 is better

Just got my Nexus S ATT. My thoughts.

Coming from HTC Inspire btw.
Size-Build is awesome imo, perfect screen size, nice and lightweight and does not feel cheap imo.
Yea its superamoled but wtf at the yellowish tint....why did they do this?? My Captivate looked better and this is one of the main selling points for me, is there anything we can do to get it back to the other color temperature? Seriously....
Tried the camera a bit, not impressive at all, neither was the inspire so eh whatever.
Everything is FAST! I love it!
Stock Android!!! Woooh! No Blocking of Apps! Woooh!
Wifi seems a bit slow, it started doing a restore off the bat and downloading all my apps from the inspire and even the background! wow! Really cool feature that I had no Idea about, but some apps installed and then I kept getting a bunch of errors saying "insufficient memory" I guess I gotta do them one by one...
Thats pretty much it, Im satisfied but the screen tint is kinda leaving a bad taste in my mouth, the SuperLCD seemed more sharp and brighter then this and the whites were WHITE and the blacks werent too shabby either, dunno wtf is going on as the Screen on my old captivate was great and I loved it, this is eh...
Really hoping I didnt make the wrong choice here, the Xperia arc I had my eyes on and the only thing it didnt have was a FFC and I can live without it, beyond that I like the looks, bigger screen, lighter weight, on the arc better and sony unlocked the bootloader on their new devices so updates will come regardless, way better camera, I just dont know about this whole screen thing....
i just got mine today, so thought i'd chime in too.
build quality: not cheap imo, the ergonomics dept should pat themselves on the back. feels just right
doesn't feel laggy
sensors problem. compass seems a bit off, and the best gps lock i've had is 10m error after about 60s. i stood outside and waited, no lock. resorted to downloading gps status and downloaded the additional gps data. this seems to be the only way it's locked on. compared to a desire, this is hella slow and crappy for gps.
camera quality, i think for a phone it's good enough. for the ffc, so it's vga, but at what resolution does skype mobile use? what's that? it's not working? oh well. i think vga is fine for video calls. anything else is just additional cost.
about to test with music and haven't put a sim in yet to test the phone.
i bought it for development, so i'm now going to start messing about with it, but the phone feels nice and zippy, but disappointed with the sensors (will be testing outside tomorrow) as i'm looking to do a lot of augmented reality dev.

if you're going to test sound, i highly recommend using netarchy's kernel (unsure if it works on a I9020A).. but basically put Voodoo Sound, it'll be highly worth it without question
thanks, but i'm going to keep this stock.
You can change the bad color by using voodoo control app on the market and finding a kernel that supports it.

no, i don't have a tint at all - i have a 9020. and no tint. i manually upgraded to 2.3.2 - too scared to update to 2.3.3 yet. i don't have a sim in it, so the ota wasn't registering.
in terms of sound quality, it blows away my ipod touch 1st gen, but then again most of my older cheaper mp3 players do so that in itself isn't saying much! the dynamic range sounds a lot better on this than what was on the desire too.
but still haven't taken the stickers on the phone off yet. need a case!

[POLL] Who wants to enable Samsung's mdnie on CM9?

So today I flashed CM9 Beta 1, and I noticed the screen was different. The colors were fine, but the text was fuzzy and the icons were blurry. I didn't realize that this was because they disabled Samsung's mdnie coloring, which in my opinion, made the text look a lot better. So who hopes for Beta 2 that they re-enable the old colors because it looks awful now! I know this sounds immature, but I've seen so many complaints and I have to agree.
Where is the poll?
Also, please include an option for "indifferent".
My ol' eyes cant tell one from the other...
edit: Ha! Guess I was just to fast, and thanks for the I dont care option!
It looks good too me.. I won't vote yet, I may need to flash back to double check but I am pleased so far..

Got a place I can check that I could tell better than others?
My eyes ain't what they used to be, and I would like to see if I can tell, where it is supposed to be most obvious.
Still, I would rather an option to switch it on/off over stuck with one or the other, if possible.
When it comes to Android, I always tend to go with the "more options" path
God I agree with this. Please change it back. I'm getting more use to it but it does not really look all that better, and has more negatives than positives.

I definitely notice its smoother in the settings app and i like that. However i wish the text would still render i bit better and i hope that they re-enable mdnie in beta2, or at least find a way to improve the text while keeping the smoothness in some other areas. Idk. Back to beta0 for me.

The colors on my screen look more natural, but I don't notice any difference in text. I switched the kernel several times. I guess everyone's phone is affected differently.
Maybe it's something more complicated like differently manufactured screens or something (just taking a shot in the dark).
Some areas are better than others. I see it with black text on gray. There is a difference. Small, but you get the colors right you'll see it. Smaller the font the better it gets too.
I vote back or options.
I've been using voodoo color and then I updated to beta 1 and the white color is way off it looks like to me but it could just be not use to using my phone without voodoo

this was most likely removed due to the fact that CM roms use nothing from the OEM. If the is an OEM setting it will never be added to CM roms.

No, this was removed because the devs on "our" end were experimenting with it. They even claimed they were unsure what it did, but that Noobnl said it looked better without it. Read the blog there's more info there. They are also letting people test a temp boot kernel with it re-enabled so they can decide before the next release whether to re-enable it or not. I just with in the meantime that they would release a perm flashable of the alternate kernel isntead of just the temp bootable.

Really? I'll have to check with the CM team as they make it a point to never add any OEM features or settings. If its not part of the AOSP coding or CM coding then normally it is not added to Official from versions

projectbutter makes the s3 amazing

I am really surprised at how amazing jelly bean really is on the s3, with ics it was fast and smooth already but now it blazes.
it is faster and smoother than my iphone 4s on ios6 and my wp7.5 hd7 of old which now belongs to my brothwe. it equals in smoothness that of my iPad 3 and in many ways is faster add depending on the app it generally opens them faster.
it is s real winner. battery life could be better but I'm more than happy at the moment and it was well worth the wait!

I have both. I think that the SGS3 was already faster on ICS than the gnexus on JB. The gnexus is slower to load apps and lag a lot on places like the widgets menu.
I can only recommend Paranoid Android on the S3, I'm simply amazed by this ROM...

That's your opinion. I've tried both, and the S3 is faster, and better imo.
Certainly on AOSP it is without a doubt, ill always choose AOSP first and foremost now there can be no going back to Sammy ROM's only as a secondary ROM, i can live without FM Radio (i always use Tune in Radio PRO anyway much better highly recommended app) and other small things you don't get IN AOSP the good far outweighs the bad.
I have to agree Project Butter is a lot better than in the leaks, but there is optimization to do, like the widgets draw, which still lags until it is fully pulled into memory.
I can't wait to see what the updates have to offer.
And would u mind telling us how u managed with the freaky lag we get when we try to open phone dialer after it being closed 4 a while? Why do they call it a phone when the thng it does the worst is opening the phone app!
Just be thankful you don't have the WiFi issue that it gave me.
Beforehand, no problem connecting to the WiFi.
Now, I have had to disabled "power saving mode" in the menu *#0011#, because whereas previously on ICS, it would connect if the WiFi got dropped (say, it went to sleep, or I disabled it), unless I do this, if it gets dropped, it would not reconnect until I reset the phone.
Very, very annoying.
I've raised the Issue with Samsung.

Wow! Google should have never brought project butter up in the first place. Now we have some weirdos having a weird placebo effect thinking that the GS3 firmware does not incorporate PB when it would be absolutely retarded and more difficult for Samsung to take it out of the source code and add in half butter. That is like the most hilarious thing I have ever heard. No developer would rewrite PB to operate at half.
There is a possibility that touchwiz animations do not look as smooth as AOSP animations to some eyes but I highly HIGHLY doubt it that they would change the genetic code. lol
People need to stop tripping or otherwise Google is not going to even bring up any transition improvements to prevent this crap from happening to their OEMs that use Android skins.

Possible leaked HTC M8 Screenshots and Device Photos

I am attaching a possible HTC M8 screenshot (source: @evleaks), reported here. Let's hear some feedback. What do you like/dislike?
Personally, I like the onscreen navbar vice the capacitive ones on the M7. I do wish HTC would update their lockscreen icons (phone, messaging, etc), they look so outdated. I would like to see HTC provide more icon sets that can be used on the lockscreen.
Update 2/12/14: Numerous screenshots and device pics have been added. If anyone has new pics or info, please post them! Thanks everyone!
I personally prefer the capacitive buttons but I could live with onscreen buttons I guess. I don't really care how bland the UI looks, I'm hoping for some hardware goodness like improved speakers, battery life, camera, quality control, etc etc. If they nail the hardware they could just completely botch the software for all I care, that's what custom roms are for
I prefer on screen keys. You can customize them better, and makes immersive mode so much better too.

I really wanted to believe this is real...but I've looked at it long enough to say it's fake.

Another lag fix idea

Right I've been follow like most the threads about sorting out the lag we sometimes receive on the G3.
I tried the fixes and while improved it's not gone.
So I decided to fiddle and to my surprise improved things alot.
Go into Developer option and tick DISABLE HW OVERLAYS
I used to notice lag when going in the app drawer and hitting the home button, a pause, stutter then animation. Now it has a millisecond pause and a smooth animation to the home screen.
Give it ago and report back.
Yeah, well, I saw no such improvement. Furthermore, that setting doesn't persist after a reboot.
If you want it to remain, you'd need to edit build.prop and change:
'debug.composition.type=c2d'
to
'debug.composition.type=gpu' (or cpu)
It's not worth it in my opinion, if there is a difference, I'd need to run home quickly to grab my atomic clock to measure the difference.
No difference for me either

Odd, it's a massive improvement here, are you guys running anything else ?
No difference for me.
Running ART, rooted, removed lots of bad stuff and used trickster tweaks, with 10f.

That phone does not have a camera. It is a petty. HTC will probably disappear soon: they have not been able to get benefits in 2013 and 2014. Customers currenty dont want to know about them due to evil sw update policy. I dont think a clever customer will buy an HTC.
Thanks anyway.

I could have sworn that it had a camera in the back.

Oh! No, no. There is a hole in the back, but definitely that is not a camera.

LoL...I don't notice any lag on my G3. What's kind of funny is some M8 users said the camera was fine back when it came out. Months later they like the G3 camera better. HTC took a gamble on the M8 camera and failed. Imo
This helped a lot. Things are a lot snappier.
Thanks!
Tried the M8 but think I've broken it trying to get the battery out
Works for me D855 32GB on V10i-GLOBAL-SI
