Got a 129 MB big update today (in Germany), which fixes the annoying Chromecast bug. Finally!
I tested every single Chromecast app, pulling the notification bar down, while playing movies/music. No crashes, no lockups, no reboots.
Haven't noticed anything else yet.
can't root it using towelroot, says phone not supported :/
any ideas!?
--edit--
solved it using this instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...w-to-root-ng1-firmwares-leaving-knox-t2873867
building the nj1 kernel from the firmware using this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446269
Same here.
Just downloaded the NJ1 ROM from Sammobile and did a fresh install.
Root:
Installed towelroot without starting it
Flashed the md5'd NF2 boot.img
Used towelroot and made it ra1n
Flashed the md5'd NJ1 boot.img
Installed SuperSU from the Play store and disabled Knox
Knox 0x0, status official.
(Root for: SD Fix, uninstall Samsung and Google crap, MenuBeGone (XPosed))
Can below one still work?
Download CF-Auto-Root for Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE P605 and extract the Zip file: CF-Auto-Root-lt03lte-lt03ltexx-smp605.zip

Well, according to a blog I read, it should still be working. Sorry, I can't post the link yet.

I was rooting my Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 phone with this very simple method.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VZd71DWqEo
Everything worked fine until I ran SuperSU and it told me that there is no binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it. I re-flashed the SuperSU ZIP with CWM Recovery and I get the same problem. The file I flashed from recovery was this one http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/tools/SuperSU/CWM-SuperSU-v0.99.zip.
Should I be flashing something else?
If you're on latest firmware you need a newer version. You'll find it in the original development section

This worked perfectly. God bless.
Hello,
I recently updated to the latest firmware offered by Samsung. I9505XXUDMH8 and I wan't to root so I can use Titanium Backup and Light Manager LED Control. But no matter what method I try it will not root.
I've tried using I9505 SU-1.32 Zip file (no luck).
I've also tried CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.tar.md5 (no luck).
I've also tried flashing TWRP and selecting fix root when I click reboot.
Nothing has worked so far and I'd quite like to get rooted on the latest firmware.
Until I/someone finds a way around KNOX I've had to go back to the previous version which is somewhat inferior...
Many thanks for your help in advance!

That is what I tried, but I had no such luck... SuperSU didn't even appear on the app drawer when I used that.

[/INDENT]Yesterday I rooted my Verizon Galaxy Note III using the Towelroot method and everything was working. I installed SuperSU and all of the other works. Little did I know I went and installed CWM and soft bricked my device. I was able to follow steps given to me in a previous thread but the download links for the OTA 4.4.2 update were taking way too long. So I went and downloaded the 4.4.3 links and they downloaded in a fraction of the time. So I continued following the steps that were given except the file I downloaded is an .MD5 file and not a .PIT . So I guess this is two questions in one. 1. Is it ok for me to move up a version? 2. How do I use the MD5 in ODIN. If someone can give me a few pointers that would be great. Thanks so much. :cyclops:

4.4.3 is not available for the Note 3 and it will not work. Once you're on the OTA version of 4.4.2 you can not downgrade since you're on the NC4 bootloader. You'll have to enter download mode and flash the stock NC4 Tar file that you can find HERE. You have to put the .md5 file in the AP slot. Patience Grasshopper...

Buddy we cant install Custom Recovery like CWM or TWRP in our devices because out Bootloaders are locked, so never try it again...
The solution is to install the latest Safestrap v3.72 for Kitkat currently which is safe...
4.4.3 is still under testing for Note 3 and will be launched in future...currently the latest version for our device is 4.4.2,so no matter what dont try to install newer version which are not yet launched for Verizon Note 3...
Please follow this thread to flash in ODIN if you have bricked your device...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2610757
Make sure you download the NC4 Stock ROM only...
Thanks!!!

Thanks so much! Do you mind taking a look at my "I think I broke my phone thread?"
I recently got an AT&T Galaxy S 4 I337 from a friend and I'm trying to root it. I've seen a few blog and forum posts and it seems like there are multiple versions of the galaxy s 4 floating around like a Canadian version and stuff. How do I know which version I have and whats the easiest way to do it?
My searching led me here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314494
I tried the [ROOT[RECOVERY] Loki + TWRP + Motochopper CASUAL way of rooting and it didn't work. The java script runs and everything but my phone's rom is blocking it for security reasons (gives a notification in tray). I've looked around in the settings to disable it but I couldnt find anything, it only wants you to update it. Debugging has been enabled too.
Coming from the US, I don't think it would be a Canadian model. And the I337 & I337M Users post claims that their way won't work on the AT&T I337 MF3 version or something which is why I'm skeptical to even try it.
So where do I go from here? What have I been doing wrong? I've been looking for an pre-rooted odin version which usually exist (how I rooted my S2 i7700) but i can't find any.
What is your baseband in the about phone?

MK2. Which I just figured out is the bootlocked version of the phone unless you use safestrap. The main problem is I can't install a custom recovery and flash my rom without root access... and all the methods of getting it rooted aren't working.
Saferoot works on MK2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565758
I would try saferoot, kingo root (These two should work on mk2) towel root should work as well.
I337 stock NC1, rooted, unlocked
Sm-T537A NE1stock, rooted
I got as far as getting the device rooted and the safestrap kernel installed. It says these are the steps to installing a new rom:
"For MK2 Base Users (never took NB1 OTA)
Files you will need before starting:
ON EXTSDCARD...
-- Safestrap-JFLTE-3.72-kk-B01.apk from here
-- ROM Install Zip (check ROM notes... may need to replace updater-script)
-- MK2-Deadly-Venom-Kitkat-Magic-Tool.rar from Kitkat Magic Tool Version 2 -- MLD/MK2-safestrap kit
-- mldmodules.zip extracted from MLD/MK2-safestrap kit
-- UPDATE-SuperSU.apk-v1.93.zip from here
ON COMPUTER...
-- Odin 3.09 and files from MLD Odin Files folder from MLD/MK2-safestrap kit"
Source here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52030326
There's a list of safestrap approved roms and shoshock is one of them (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2468860).
I'll follow the instructions exactly (install rom, install MDLmodules, and install updated the superSU.zip. But after I reboot, I get a very vibrant glitched out screen, filled of pink and blue neon artifacts. I think I have the odin files they are referencing to at the end but everytime you install something through odin it reboots so I can't install all of them before it freezes.

Just load them all up at once. It will let you put them in each slot and flash all.
Sent from my SGH-I337 running GPE
So I tried rooting my S5e following the "system-as-root" part of the original magisk installation instructions (https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html#samsung-system-as-root), but odin stops short from being finished with "FAILED", and my tablet tells me: "SECURITY CHECK FAILED : modem"
How do I recover from this? Flash an unmodified firmware using odin?
Cheers

solved!
flashed the latest firmware which I downloaded with frija, then went through the process again but before flashing magisk_patched.tar I removed all the extra files from it as described in https://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s5e/how-to/galaxy-tab-s5e-sm-t720-root-t3947806, now it works and is rooted.
NO MORE ADS!

1 you have to get the right CSC for your device e.g. XFA
Once I also downloaded a strange ROM. It had file dates (inside the zip) months older than the patches or update level it was supposed to have. In this case I waited several days and got a ROM with dates that made sense and flashed without the error.
2 ??? flash did not go well -> seems to me you are technically on stock which means no root
If you succeed to flash the Magisk patched AP file then you have to reboot to recovery to actually activate Magisk root.
