Has anyone had any luck finding a custom recovery, kernel or ROM for our device yet?
If yes, PLEASE post anything you find here!
I've already tried the Chinese cwm for it, it's a bit... meh
(Sorry about making a new thread, couldn't find the old one.)

I think it's not necessary to ask for, but just wait for and have a look everyday
Hope it will come soon.

All the roms on the development section read the posts to see what you want .
Rom Kitchin would be my recommend
and tell me is it possible to return back to original firmware if i'm not satisfied with downloaded one?
NOT unless you save your original rom .
However you can get back to Stock Samsung rom that's the firmware before its been customized by the phone network .

Seriously dude, if you can’t give an answer, you are allowed to not post anything and waist more space. If you really feel you need to say something, direct the user, or do something useful.
Darkys rom is probably the best - at least the one I enjoy most.
Ps. Even though your question borders on being General, if you want to ask ROM related question please do so in the "Galaxy S I9000 Q&A", before someone die.
thanks JJEgan and everyone for support, i'll try some roms!
I apologize for this thread as Im sure this has been answered before, just can't find it. A while ago I had backed up my stock rom so I could try custom ROM's. Unfortunately just before flashing one I accidentally did a format on my microSD card with the backup of the stock ROM that came on my a500 so it got blown away . I have downloaded stock roms in the Development threads but there is a large list of different ones. I basically want to get the original ROM that came with my tablet so I can use OTA again. The stock ROMS I have tried keep saying "Poor network coverage ...." when I try to check for an OTA update. Also I live in the USA is there a region specific ROM that I need to get to ensure GPS works properly? Seems that none of the ROMS I have tried can get a lock on my location even if the prop file shows "US" Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have the Rom
that will work for you but no placeto upload it.there is a download link to it as well in Acer recovery installer.

Son of a .... lol. Thank you. Im gonna purchase a license for Acer Recovery Installer I'll try that first. Thank you
UPDATE: I got a stock rom and appears fully restored thank you. Quick question though. There are about 4 or 5 different stock rom builds. Does it matter which one to use? Or should I get the highest version numbered one?
I'd also like to know, which rom did you get? Link and your steps please. It'd really help me out.

I have nothing to add. But this thread got funny.
that that issue im also want to ask!
i allready download the stock rom at the link stok rom above, but my thor kernel is still eksist or if i press the power button and the volume the system reboot into a thor kernel. how can i get the kernel just like an original rom?
thank's
Your kernel should be stock. But what you're describing sounds like the recovery which is Thor's Clockwork. That should be the one you want if you want to keep flashing different ROM's and/or Kernels.
The way I got my tab back to completely stock is in this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1231005

You really can't expect help whenever you ask for it, and if I knew anything about devving I probably wouldn't help you after that. Anyway, most devs don't pay attention to the Q&A section, so you're not likely to get too much help.

As the title says, I want to cook HD2 ROM since on every ROM I tried something was missing for me, so the solution is: I will develop my own ROM and share it here on XDA if its going well.
But, I don't really know how to start, I'm not a noob but not a developer either.
All I need is to know where to cook ROMs (I have dsixda kitchen and used it b4, but only for MAGLDR to cLK ports and some minor things, tried to cook with it but with no success, the ROM didn't boot, kerenl problem I believe...), I need to know how to start from scratch: grab base from somewhere, add / change kernels, add Aroma instalation etc.
The rest, tweaking ROM for example, I would like to know how, but too soon for now...
So please masters, help me out!

Well there are guides for dsixda kitchen, you just have to use the HD2 source code for whatever ROM type you want to cook (ie CM9 AOKP CM7 MIUI SENSE etc)

Just went over to sprint the other day and got this version that ha 5.1.1 installed out of the box. Been searching around and have yet to find anything that even list this version/build but see many others listed.
Is there a root/Pre-root rom that will work on this variant?
I second this! I have been searching for any info on rooting this specific device without luck! I don't mind doing research on how to do it and finding out how my self, just can't find anything at all to do so thus far!
Root for SM-G530P
I third this someone please help...
Before you get into flashing anything on the device....please be sure to enable OEM Unlocking under developers option.
Also, there seems to be a twrp recovery, however, I have not tested it out myself yet...when I do so I will let you all know if it's success or not.
Another thing, I think it's highly possible that the phone will require a "permissive" kernel...not too sure yet. I will advise shortly...
Ok I got news. The phone has been semi-rooted, I was right...it requires a permissive kernel in order for the phone to boot up once more. The people that come in mind when it comes to permissive sprint kernels are Freeza & Djvoleur. They can probably cook something up if they have the source code for this phone already.... also, we need a working twrp or philz recovery.... the ones provided do not work... meaning that it would be redundant to have a permissive kernel...if we don't have a working custom recovery to flash it over with.... unless there's another way to flash the zip file or maybe just the boot.img? I will keep updating this if I find anything further...

Wow sounds like this is it! Can't wait to try it when I get back home. Thanks for the updates guys!
EDIT: It works great, thanks for looking out and thanks for the work put into this to bring us root to our devices.
Now if I could just find a ROM for this thing that would make it a bit less bloated and run a bit smoother that will make it all worth while.

Nice walls phunkee, like the fractal ones, very retro! Only weird thing on my handset tho, is when i apply the theme using hdwalls, i have to switch off / switch on, to get the top and bottom curtains to change. If i simply do a soft reset, it puts standard grey top/bottom curtains up. Happens with all downloaded themes, ones ive made myself, everything. Odd!

Hello everyone,
I'm currently using a Galaxy J5 (2016) and I was wondering if anyone wants to do any modding for it. The only things I've seen so far is the "Light ROM" and the TWRP recovery, but I would love to use another custom ROM or a kernel.
Same, I would live to see a Cyanogenmod ROM for the J510. I've been trying to make a ROM, but it would help if others would do so.
It looks like the guys are working hard on a rom for your model on the developer page. You will just have to wait for more. Until then why don't you download the one available and help test it. The process will help develop more roms
@johnhux7 Can you send me the link to this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j5/development/rom-light-stock-rom-v1-t3467865
I think that this is the link your wanting
I meant a ROM for CM and that one has the final update
I don't think that there is one at yet mate. I think the only way your gonna get that is if you download the ROM that the guy has made. Help him test it, give him feedback and maybe that will help motivate him to go on and build CM12..1 CM 13 etc.
These guys do this work for nothing and it must take them 100's of hours and god knows how many boots of their phones.
Give them a hand and maybe you will get what you want in the future cos there ain't one at present..

It is safe since it was confirmed that it is working.
You have to replace init.qcom.post_boot.sh file with the one from that thread, like is mentioned here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70308367&postcount=5 . So, copy the actual init.qcom.post_boot.sh somewhere to have a backup before replacing it. Dont forget to set the permission after replacing it.
Someone made a flashable zip with it so you can flash it through TWRP: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70409603&postcount=14 .
I don't know why it's any custom kernels for it!
It's a really great device!
A lot of RAM, good battery, CPU and GPU which is good for OVERLOCKING(I see the wonderful custom kernels on different devices with this chip
