USB Host

Does anyone know of a usb host driver that enables usb host on the X1? Another user reported that the Zeno usb host drivers did not work. Any one tried others with success?
it has been discussed here somewere, and the last thing was all agreed it doesn't have a USB Host!
i hope it's not true, only time will let us know!
Uh... Well... I understand what you are asking for, but I don't know what you want to do with it... What would be the need for a USB host function on a mobile phone

Let's say you have some files on a thumb drive and wanna work on them (.doc , .xls...etc) but you don't have a laptop with you.
Or..Some images on an external HDD you wanna send via email, but no laptop with you...
Or..Show off to your iSheep friends that you can connect usb mouse and keyboard to use on your x1..
Get images off of your digi cam....etc etc
How about pluging in a usb joypad for gaming??
Endless possibilities.
I've recently seen some universal WinMo USB host drivers but the problem with X1 supposedly is that it doesn't power the USB port itself so you might need to power it externally. Dunno if it would really work though.
But you still need a pen drive or ext. hd with mini USB right?

Does the amazon actually work on the X1?
Peeps, i have been thinking about this problem for awhile now. Check this thread, there is a link to a site with drivers that should work,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=480279
BUT
BUT
BUT
Xperia doesn't have a powered usb. So, the only two ways to get something working are to either connect something with its own power supply, or to use a usb injector. Sadly the first option defeats the whole point of connecting a flash or a mouse and the latter one, well, i haven't had any luck with a suitable injector for the x1.
Good luck.

NO, not unless we have a driver for USB host for X1
And as above posts stats, power to the USB.

Usb host on Acer s200

It s a little strange but seems like no one in this forum tried to connect usb devices to our phone since zeno usb host driver has been released.I tried to search in google but no one tried in acer s200...Are there anyone that know if it work before i try it by myself?
I've tried it
HI, i have tried it with a 1gb, 2gb, 4gb, usb flash storage. But it seems not to work. It don't shows me another device in the explorer (win explorer or resco explorer)
Maybe someone have tried it succesfully?
external power is required, see usb-host scheme by dcordes... keep in mind, however, that hd2's got a micro-usb connector

Hi tsamolotoff,
the usb host work properly:
Yes i built a usb cable with external power supply.I ve made a cable that supply 5v to the device i want to attach to the s200,but only the two data lines go to the phone. But this afternoon i ve read a german forum and someone said that in some cases (nokia) the usb host cable must supply 5v even to the pocket pc,and i want to try by this way.Stefano wich cable have you made to get the s200 found the usb mouse and the pen drive in linux kernel?Do you think that with zeno drivers we can use the usb host even in windows?
Stefano_1986_
Interesting, however, it'd more exciting if it worked under wince (did you check?)

I have checked but not working
ok almost like mine. This morning with this cable and zeno drivers i ve noticed that if you connect a device like a pen drive, the screen turn on backlight, and it s not for the fact that i attached the cable with 5v,the tension is always present in the usb cable. So maybe the hardware feel the new device but have not the correct drivers to control
What is the solution I have the same problem
so all, what's the solution then? if I want to conect my F1 to a CF card reader? how to use external power...
It doesn t work under windows mobile...This is the solution.
It only work via linux kernel (tested a mouse a keyboard and a usb drive),but since no android build is avaible for s200 you can t use it.
So usb host is supported by s200 hardware, but it s locked in windows mobile kernel and can t be changed.this is a really great stupid thing i know...but sadly it s the true
Guru correct me if i writed something wrong
maybe it can work now, coz Android can be loaded in S200...
I just think if my S200 can read the photos from CF card reader...
yes sure we can make it work under linud distros or android as proved by stefano some month ago

[Q] usb host hd2 cable to connect external 3g modem

hello,
i want to connect my 3G modem with my hd2, either in android or windows, but i would like to ask someone if knows what cable should i use? i found these :
http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-Host-Micro-...568?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f8666530
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5719850
are there differences between them??
Also i would like to ask if someone has tested such thing before, as i dont know if the 3g modem will be recognized...
thanks

yes, the ebay one is for a device that already supports USB host so will provide the power needed to host a USB device, and will not work with the hd2.
The xda one is a very clever workaround to get some usb host functions working on a non usb hosting device, that may just about support a usb keyboard and a memory stick, and no...............

.........it almost certainly wont.
You could always take the sim out of your 3g modem and use it in your phone, , not ideal but,.,,,

so with the ebay cable i wont be able to give power to anything external.....
i know that i can change sims but this is a very frustrating procedure, and besides the time it takes to change sim and boot phone, in the internet sim i cannot take calls, its an internet sim.... Would an dual sim adaptor work in my case?
Sorry never used dual adapter so couldn't comment. Interesting idea tho.

OTG Support

While i was thinking is it possible to make OTG work on Touch Pro 2?
Any Software or ROM or Kernel updates will do?
You mean like USB Host Mode?
I don't think anyone looked into it. Android or WinMo...

(Almost) anything is possible with enough time and determination...
Has it been done already? Not to my knowledge.
'Theoretically' you should be able to get this working. Like Arrrghhh said, anything is possible. I did get a usb otg cable for the rhodium (well, not FOR the rhodium, but 'theoretically' it should work) and found that this function is supported in the specs for our processor chip.
There are drivers and a pretty good source of information here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=480899
I never advanced past the point of realizing that while our phone 'probably' has the hardware to receive input from usb devices it cannot provide them with power to function. You seem to need to use an externally powered usb hub for those drivers to do you any good, and there really isn't anything On-The-Go about carrying around a usb hub and its power adapter! So it was at that point that I gave up. But, there is probably all the information you need in the thread I posted above to get you started.
Please post your findings if you have success/failure

its said that OTG isnt working in the Build
So does Android generally support OTG without any software support?
Can i get OTG support by just running in Android? ICS or CM or GB or Froyo?
[i m working on the Win6.5 OTG, ordered Host cable, waiting for it to arrive..]

That thread isn't talking about host mode, that thread is talking about transferring files via USB mass storage mode....
At any rate, I'm pretty sure the software simply supports it. Getting the hardware to talk properly is the hard part (again, as far as I understand it...)

any one got it working ever?

No one ever got it working, I thought I made that perfectly clear...
I'm not sure what you need, again there's probably quite a bit of legwork that you'll need to do in order for it to talk on our devices. I don't think you can just "use" the LEO drivers in this case - however, adapting them might be a good place to start.

I thought I read somewhere that the TP2 can not provide power. You had to use a powered usb hub + device to have a chance at getting it working.
The downside being that you had all this stuff to haul around if you wanted to use an OTG cable.

Does OTG webcam work on the Oneplus 8 pro?

Hi guys, long time Android enthusiast.
I would like to enquire if anyone knows if the Oneplus 8 pro has the required v4l2 drivers to support OTG webcams. Software support is finicky between manufacturers (some just didn't implement it)
Could someone help me test? You can try out with a otg type c and this app:

Only thing that I know is that otg usb memory stick works just fine.
Edit. Ask some of the kernel devs via priv message. They know more

Thanks for the tip, however, I think its abit overkill. haha. Just need someone with and OTG hub to test with a webcam.
Tried my USB-borescope (camera with a flexible tube and led lights) with OTG cable and it works just fine
Edit.. no idea about the sound tho, since that camera doesn't have any mic.
Aarrgghh. I need an adapter to make my old device connect to the new phone...
