Root and your unlocked bootloader... - RAZR HD General

You're unlocked, stop using root exploits. Flash a recovery, flash a SU.zip, and get permanent root access.

Rootchecker

I do not have proper root access from root checker but I am running a custom ROM. Does anyone have a clue why this is happening? I unlocked and rooted using wugs nexus root toolkit a while back

Have you granted root checker permissions with superuser or supersu? If you have superuser you should be rooted.

My reccomendation, the same happened for me after flashing SmoothROM, remove SuperSU completely, it has problems. It doesn't remove your root access, it sort of blocks it. SuperSU has some problems, so remove it, boot back up, install SuperUser instead, then, you should be good to go.

I have trouble with root and SuperSU on 4.4.2

I'm having trouble with SuperSU on 4.4.2 on Nexus 4.
So at 4.3 I unrooted first, then OTA'ed to 4.4 and now 4.4.2.
Yesterday I used cf-auto to root my phone, but there was no SuperSU. Then I downloaded one from Google Play. But it keeps saying "unfortunately SuperSU has stopped" when there is a need to use SuperSU, i.g. when there is a root explorer app running. I doubt whether the root was successful so I downloaded a root checker, but it kept saying "please wait". So I even don't know whether my phone is rooted.
Please help.
Do you have a custom recovery? Download the zip in the op and flash in recovery.

no i have the original recovery.
I tried Reinstallation in SuperSU and used root checker, which said my device has root access. But after I installed SuperSU again, it keeps crashing again. (keeps saying SUperUS has stopped.)
If you haven't gotten this squared away, I would recommend using Wug's toolkit to return to stock unrooted and then using the toolkit to reroot.

Just encountered this kind of problem on Purity. Flashed latest build (4.4.2), and then I didn't have root acces anymore. Then I tried rooting with Wug's toolkit (CWM as recovery and SuperSU as root), and unfortunately superSU didn't appear at all in the apps. I tried installing it from the recovery, no luck.
Then I tried it with SuperUser. it worked. I didn't ask any questions

[Q] Root w/o access to a computer? Bootloader already unlocked

Is it possible to re-root my Nexus 10 without access to a computer? It updated to 4.4.4, and I lost root. I won't have access to a computer for a few days, but I would like my root access back. My bootloader is already unlocked, if that matters.
Do you have CWM or TWRP recovery flashed?
Download in Nexus the last SuperSU or SuperUser zip for install from recovery and flash it or download a ROM pre-rooted and install it.
Unfortunately it seems like the update process wiped out my CWM - that's the first thing I tried.
you can try towelroot.
https://towelroot.com/
it's an apk to install on your device. When it's rooted you have to install supersu from playstore and update su binary.
It work well on Nexus 4, haven't tested on N10.
After you can install an app from playstore to unlock the bootloader (bootunlocker for nexus) and Rashr from playstore too to flash a recovery.
Edit : found unlock app.
Towelroot didn't work on my Nexus 10.
It just says "Phone not supported".

You could install cwm recovery from the app in the Play Store, then download SuperSU and flash it.

That won't work because the recovery flasher needs root.

During flashing didn't mention the error on TWRP, then bootloop happen.
A couple of questions.
Were you able to access TWRP?
If yes, Did you install TWRP or did you just boot?
Which version of SuperSu did you try flashing.
Are you sure it was a clean install?
I am just speculating now, but i suspect if you tried other root methods they may have change some items in system which messed upp SuperSu installation.

Yes, my mistake flashing using old version SuperSU, flashing using newer stable version 2.79, success without problem. Thanks to you.
