No, but what's it about?
I have some as well if anyone wants/needs em.
Google Music is just a way of storing all of your music collection in the cloud, and your able to stream it from your mobile, or any other pc
I have Google music but dont like it too much. If anyone needs an invite just pm me your email.
But if you would like an alternative I would STRONGLY recommend using AudioGalaxy. Its free to use and you get unlimited streaming. I only have about 25 gigs of music but I can access all of it from audio galaxy for free on my phone or any computer. I have had it for about 5 months now and LOVE it. I never get any lag even on 1x.
The only thing that SOME people might not like (I dont mind) is your home computer has to be on and connected to the internet all the time.
As another alternative, Amazon also has a free music cloud storage service and the first 5 GB are free. They even have an android app to access it.
Google Music Invites

What service/provider of cloud type storage do most people here use? Any good recommendations?

Personally I use Google Drive + Google Music for my tunes. Frankly the integration makes it a no brainer to me. That isn't to say it would be best for everyone but for my uses it's perfect. However most people will tell you to sign up for all of them and use them all then pick one. After all you can never have too much free cloud storage. And that will allow you to try them before you go Premium, if in fact that is something you were considering. I know Dropbox is great too. Cubby invites were all the rage here lately but I have never tried it. There's a thread. It would probably help you get better recommendations if you told us what you plan on using the service for.
i use Dropbox.. got over 100+Gigs because i have a GS3 + One X and a few other reasons.. i also use Google Drive + Google Music and all other Google cloud features
New accounts only get 2GB of space tho
currently i use google drive and dropbox. i think the free space on those services will increase in the future because there is a lot of competition
Google Drive
Dropbox
Amazon Cloud
I use them all, but 4share is my preferred one.

I have Dropbox (4GB), Ubuntu 1(5GB), Google Storage for Developers (100GB) and Skydrive(25GB).
I know that's a lot of them, so I use SMEStorage to manage 'em together, well except for Dropbox and Ubuntu1

This :good:
Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, SkyDrive ......
It depends what you need, for pure file storage dropbox or google drive are probably the best.
If you are looking to stream media from a cloud then I am not sure what is best here. Anyone have any suggestions for streaming media (files that I own already rather than other options)
i use:
dropbox
skydrive
box
sugarsync
cubby
google drive/gmail
they're unique in their own way, but generally similar; free with paid extras. i have about 115GB+ of free online storage, so no need for any paid versions. i suggest try a few out and see which service suits your needs best.
I use Wuala. I think it's reasonably priced and there's a bonus that everything's encrypted!
Thanks everyone! What I would like to do is stream home pictures and videos. Any of these good for this?

I like the idea of my data being on my own systems. As a result, I set up ownCloud on my Linux server in my basement (tho I believe a Windows variant exists). With the help of DDNS which provides me with a URL, along with some port forwarding, I basically have my own web address I can access from anywhere and log in to my ownCloud server. You are limited only by your hard drive space. I'm currently rockin a 300GB personal cloud server. I'll be looking at 6TB once I get my new drives in for the RAID 5 array I plan to set up.
On the same server I also have Subsonic running. I paid the couple bucks donation fee (10 to 15 or so) to unlock the full mobile license with the mobile app for Android, iOS, etc. There again, using my DDNS URL I tied Subsonic's Android app into my server at home. I can now stream all of my media straight from my box at home.
In short:
For music and media - Subsonic
For everything else - ownCloud
The future plan: 6TB for personal cloud usage for music, pictures, videos, documents? Oh yes. :good: Even my current 300GB setup is significantly more than I would get with any free service elsewhere. I'll take it.
total win.
Another mod for subsonic for your own cloud media server.

I'm quite fond of Ubuntu One myself. I use it for auto-uploads of my pictures on my phone. Since Ubuntu is on all of my systems, once I fire up my laptop, desktop, whatever it auto syncs locally. Of course, Dropbox does this too, but U1 also gives me 5GB to boot. I assume Dropbox is still @ 2GB for starters?
I use Dropbox, Google Drive, Sugarsync, Ubuntu 1, Amazon MP3 and Google Play Music. All serve a purpose and all get used. 16GB is not enough. Cloud storage is critical for me. Ubuntu 1, Dropbox and Play Music are the best imo.

Yes, DevHost. Just letting people know, as there may be some users who are unaware of that site
I'd stay away from CX.com. I was sucked in by the amount of free storage they allowed, but in the process of backing up my files more than half of the files on my hard drive were deleted. I did extensive searching, and they were not moved - they were gone. I emailed CX a half dozen times begging for help, hoping it was part of their backup process and that they could help me easily restore the files. I never got a response to any of my emails, and when logged into my account the dashboard said I had no outstanding inquiries - my emails to tech support disappeared just like my files.
In the end I had to go through 500 folders, each with 3-5 subfolders and many files in each one, to find the stuff that had been erased and individually download them back to my PC. There wasn't even a way to DL the folders with all their contents; I had to DL each and every one, one at a time.
Steer clear, and good luck.

Good to know, I actually only tried it once but have since moved to D-H.ST as my main source of uploading, well that and my box, dropbox, accounts
Thanks for sharing! Can I ask a question though, Do any of these cloud services not have a upload size file limit on a free account? I think dev-host says 512mb and CX has a 200mb limit and mediafire also had some limits. I don't remember Box or Dropbox, but are there others(free accounts)?
Sent from my R800i using xda premium
Dropbox or Box hasnt got any limit, except the space your storage. Btw, if you install Box on your Xperia, you will get free 50GB space
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
If I'm not mistaken box does have an upload size limit (100mb) for free account...but its been a while since I've tried. that was also from the app.

Do you need a credit card to activate the $15 Google credit

Hey!
How do I buy something with googles $15 credit ?
I go to buy something and it only gives me an option for credit cards.
How do I pay for it with my Google credit that came with the device ?

Do you mean the $25 credit you get when you buy the tablet? If so then:
a) no.. I don't think you have to have a card to use the credit but it will be tied to whatever account you use to log in on the tablet first.
b) you can use this credit while in the play store (from your device) when you select and app an window pops up and you can select your payment method there. You should see an option for "Google Play balance". Select it and voila.
There's no redeem button ;(
I love in the UK and apparently you can't get gift cards in the UK. What doing do if anything?
Thanks !
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
If you have an Android device already, you will have a Play account and the credit will be added to that. If you don't have a Play account you will need to create one when you set up your device, you need a CC to do that so you can buy apps etc. Once you've set up your Google account the credit will appear on it and you'll be able to buy apps to the value of £15 before anything is charged to your card.
They have been a bit clever with it mind you, cannot carry a balance over, so when you have £2.74 left you can't buy something for £4.99 and pay the difference.
I have the £15 credit and I live in the UK

Im signed in on it and its the first account on there.
When I press buy on a app it shows up only one option which is Google wallet.
Google:
For a limited time, customers who purchase a Nexus 7 may be eligible to receive a $25 Google Play credit. This is our gift to you when you have, or add, a valid form of payment to your Google Wallet account.
Guess Il have to add a card.
The free $25/£15 Google Play credit is automatically added to your Google account once you sign in for the first time when you set the device up, regardless of whether or not you had a card on the account before.
Oh... I wonder why my credit isnt showing up. There is no other option but to pay for an app with Google wallet.

Sharing Android apps with my brother

My brother and I both have Nexus 7's. When we buy pc games one of us buys it and we both install it on our laptops (I'm 16 so I still live at home with family including my brother). Is there some way for my brother to play games on his nexus that I bought on mine (without having him sign into my Google account)? I know some file explorers (like androzip) have a "backup" option which packs the app back into an apk but it fails when I try it on paid apps (obviously drm).
Thanks

The best way is to share the same google account, if not it is indirectly a way of piracy, based on my point of view my friend.
Sent from my Nokia 3310
The only problem with sharing one account is you cannot play games very well, because say your halfway through level 5 on mc4, if your bro wants to play you would have to start a new game and loses your progress. Really stupid and fustrating as tablets are not really individual minded I don't think. I did read somewhere that you can share apps, but you have to be rooted for it to work.
Shared through a common Google account is the only legitimate way.
Could be a new Google account, used only for buying apps.
