Google Camera Flash Bug - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone take pictures with flash and the latest camera update?
I can't get pictures at all.
The flash misfires so the picture is to bright or dark. And the focus is never right, the images are blurry like hell.

blocky camera.

Look at this pic. At full res and normal quality, it shouldn't be blocky.
This happens randomly. If I took another pic it'd be fine.
Have you tried the leo camera tips page? Those settings/hacks really do make a difference.

yes, i have those settings.
but it's only blocky some random times, very wierd.
The camera has focusing issue. Try not using the touch focus-snap method. A slight movement will lose the focus and makes the pix blur...
HTC YET to overcome this focusing issue (image stabilizer software...?).
what way should I take the pics then?

Any good camera apps?

One of my biggest gripes with this phone is that they gave it this great camera but with no image stabilization. Has anyone come across any good camera apps? Preferably something that allows you to take a picture via the touch screen (like you can in 2.1 but not 2.2) or provides some image stabilization. I tried camera 360, which seems decent, but FC's a lot.
PS. I tried a thread search to see if this topic is around but due to the numerous threads on camera related issues pre-2.2 OTA leak, they're hard to find.
Thanks in advance for any help.
If you place your finger on the screen and hold it there, it will take the picture.
To be more precise it'll focus where you put the finger and take a picture.
The best camera app I've tried is Vignette. The "normal" processing for the app makes much better pictures than the default camera, and it's got some excellent effects as well. It also has a "steady shot" option where it waits until the camera is still before taking the shot. The demo is low-res but you can use it to see the basic results you'll get. The full version was worth it for me.
Tried a few apps and I do like some features of Vignette but will say the stock camera app does the best in my opinion with settings at (8mp fine bright -1 contrast +1) can hold on screen and it will auto focus then snap pic
here are some untouched samples of mine of just misc things the other day

Google Edition stock Camera Issues ... :(

Hi there,
I have been experiencing some issues on Google Edition 4.2.2 camera app.
I tried 4.3 camera apk and issues are still there...
When I take a picture directly from Whatsapp a preview picture with the "Yes" and "Cancel" marks is shown. The thing is that the preview picture does not match the taken picture!!! It is slightly different, there is a delay between pictures.
Then I say...."Oh, ok, that picture is good, attach it" and then whatsapp sends a different picture
I thought that it was a Whatsapp issue...but the thing is that when I take a picture directly from Camera apk, a little "preview" of the picture is shown on upper right corner. And that preview is NOT the taken picture.
Anybody else ?
Nobody else experiencing this?
Please can anybody take a photo from Whatsapp app and then send it to somebody? And please pay attention if preview image is the same that sent image.
Thanks!!
Same problem here, but in stock rom 4.2.2
When I take a picture (when i tried it was without flash, maybe the problem is there because the exposure time or something) i get a preview that doesn't match the actual picture stored in the gallery, it's like the real capture is being taken after the preview. It's very noticeable when the target is moving...
Anyone?

[Q] Android Custom Camera Flash Issue?

I have built an Android Custom Camera which has a single problem, whenever I take a picture with the Flash in FLASH_MODE_ON,I get an image that is too bright,so bright that the image is filled with white light.
There are two fixes that I can think of:
a.Using the LightSensor, finding out when the light is less than say 50lux,reducing the exposure to minimum value, capturing the photo...also ensuring that the Camera is not focusing or something like that when you decide to change these parameters.(Done that, lots of pain, little gain)
b.Using the Camera with FLASH_MODE_AUTO with some other parameter/pre-processing fix/post-processing fix for the Camera.
I can post some of my sample code,if you like...

Photo flash problem

Hi, take a look at these photos, the bright one was taken yesterday and the other today. There is an enormous difference between these two shots, although I used the exactly same modes - full auto in OOS 4.5.14 camera. I found out that the flash in the Google Camera (photo with the cat) works much better (like the stock one did yesterday...).
Do you know any solution to fix the stock camera flash?
Cheers
First clear the app data of the camera app. If it doesn't work then go to apk mirror and download a better version of OnePlus camera.
